Im so thankful to have hired Mr. Gorski and the whole team to help me with my child custody case. Wow!! Mr. Carbone and his team has helped put my family back in order with his unbelievable talents in the court room. I was paying out the wazoo to my ex and barely seeing my child and Mr.Carbone assured me at the consultation that he could fix it for me. We went to court and after he started i thought to myself "This guy is out of his league, he needs to be in a big city with big shot attorneys". Ms. McGrath really helped me clear up a case brought against me from years past which was complicated and had many moving parts in a felony hit and run. She was able to get my charge dismissed outright after hearing all the facts of the case. I was very weary of using a public defender but she made me feel overwhelmingly confident in her abilities to fight my case. Hired Mary McGrath in May 2013 for our kid who got in trouble out in beautiful Bakersfield, and after speaking to several top notch criminal attorneys out there we are glad we did, she got our case dismissed! She was always available and returned all calls/texts, she was honest upfront and one of the things that really appealed to us was that she really seemed to care about her clients /cases. My review is a little late. However, Andrew Smith represented me in a guardianship case for my nephew in 2014. Andrew Smith did an excellent job representing me. I felt I was a pretty detail person in regards to my case, but there were so many things that Andrew brought to light that I didn’t even think of. I would highly recommend Andrew Smith. I am extremely disappointed with the legal services I received from Brumfield Law Group. After retaining this attorney and paying a retainer fee, I experienced nothing but frustration. They were consistently unresponsive, failing to answer questions, return emails, or respond to phone calls. I felt completely ignored throughout the entire process, and no progress was made on my case. To make matters worse, despite repeated attempts to resolve the situation, I have yet to receive any return of the retainer fee. I would not recommend this attorney to anyone and regret having hired them.

We live in Texas and our son is stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California
Our son got a dear john from his wife the day after he was deployed to the Middle East and informed that she had filed for divorce and she would be sending the papers.
While deployed he would call to speak to his two year old daughter and read her a bedtime story. He had to leave these on voicemail as his calls a world away were not picked up.
He returned to a tumultuous household six months later and divorce proceedings were initiated by his wife they had been married approximately a year and a half.
He had to hire an attorney and chose Ms. Mellanie Marshall.
Divorce is a terrible and damaging event to all parties and especially when children are involved.
Ms. Marshall was very patient in dealing with a highly frustrated client. As a member of the military he could be deployed or transferred at any time. This was a concern as a custody issue and was emotionally crushed that he might not be a part of his daughter’s life.
M.s Marshall provided my son a realistic scenario of the possible outcomes but also was able to remain a calming influence to her client. She thoroughly researched the parties involved to come up with her game plan. She was interested in what was in the best interest of her client as well as the child. She was able to work with the opposing attorney to reach what would have been a reasonable accommodation to reduce the turmoil in the little girl’s life as well as the divorcing couple. The opposing attorney was unable to get her client to be reasonable with conditions that would allow both parents to be involved with the child. As a result, the opposing attorney was unable to work with her client and removed herself as her representative.
In court Ms. Marshall was competent, thorough and I believe more than reasonable. The outcome that Ms. Marshall achieved was fantastic. My son has a custodial arrangement that allows him to be an integral part of his daughters’ life. She took a toxic situation and turned it into lemonade. My son has renewed his spirit and his daughter is happy. She now has an opportunity to interact with other children her age at the on base child development center.
If you want a good attorney in dealing with a messy divorce situation you can’t go wrong with Marshall Law (firm).

My son hired Mr. Cloud for a child custody case. I don't think Mr. Cloud was interested in my sons case at all. Mr. Cloud did not meet one on one with my son before meeting him for the first time in court. My son supplied his staff all necessary information regarding the case. Mr. Cloud did not use any of the info. In fact my son had to negotiate his visitation schedule. When the case was over we requested a call, it was scheduled Mr. Cloud never called. He took the money and ran. Really disappointed with the way he represented my son in court.

You need the best.
There are some things you simply cannot afford not to spend every single penny on. The top of that list would be protecting your family/children. Find a way to make it work so that you get the best counsel possible because it truly makes a world of difference in family court.
I came to Mr. Canaday with a custody situation that was malicious and truly based on parental alienation. The opposing side was trying everything they could to defame me as a parent by dredging up every blemish of my history—which admittedly wasn’t always the best. We ended up needing to go to trial as the opposing side was very manipulative. Mr. Canaday came to court with a tour-de-force performance. He was sharp, completely prepared, knew my wishes, knows all the pertinent laws without needing to be shady like some attorneys and he will absolutely defend your rights as a parent. Things may not move as quickly as you may expect but that is simply what happens when you have the best and are working toward a goal that can keep you from needing to return to court in the long-term. Nearly the entire courtroom came up to him asking for his card after seeing him argue on my behalf.
After a lengthy trial, I was ultimately awarded in my, and (more importantly) my child’s best interest. He has a very concise examination style and incredible respect for the court/judicial system that always plays to your interest because your lawyer represents you! He is clearly well respected by his peers/judges and has a long history working in Bakersfield/Kern county. I spent a lot of time with Mr. Canaday and cannot recommend him with higher praise if I tried. I always felt he was honest and willing to answer my questions and fiercely negotiate on my behalf. I owe him more than money could ever re-pay for helping to protect my relationship between my child and I.

Paid 20,000 to Kilpatrick still wanting 15,000 for not doing his job I hired him as my attorney but what I got was being pawned off to his paralegal team which by his own words has “mental issues”..excuses after excuses, delays ,continuation and his own health not allowing him to preform and represent me but yet continue to charge me..in the end it took 2 yrs to lose what I work hard for and the finally court hearing still being represented by one of Kilpatrick associate named Lisa who was soft spoken, clueless with no confidence the other party ate her alive … Kilpatrick puts no effort in his clients case and throws them to the wolves along with his associates.. Mr. Horrigan is great during a consultation. He knows what he is talking about and even judges ask for his knowledge on certain cases in court, he will let you know that.
My problem was he represented me from September 2016 until January 2024, he dropped me like a hot potato when I didn’t have another retainer fee. He wanted $6,000 (another retainer fee) in order for him to move forward with my case, as I still had so many loose ends. It makes sense why people refer to lawyers as sharks.
I had so many continuances throughout those years. I honestly think the attorneys play games and purposely drag things out, more time = more money. If they needed time to prepare for a client’s case that is one thing, but when you return to court a few months later and nothing more gets accomplished, it is very frustrating.
Most of the time Mr. Horrigan would walk right past me in the court hallway and had no clue who I was. You would think after over 7 years as a client and oodles of money spent, he would recognize me.
Mr. Horrigan is not totally to blame as I had three different paralegals during my time as a client. If he went to court on my behalf and said I didn’t need to be present, I had to call and find out what took place and look up on-line just to find out my next court date. Often times I had to call or email my paralegal to make sure paperwork was done and ready for the next court date too.
Beware if your paralegal is sick, has a baby, off due to surgery, etc. and is out of the office. I was told no one else could help me and I would have to wait until my paralegal returned.
Had any of my paralegals kept in touch with me and let me know what was going on from time-to-time, that would have saved me a lot of time, money and worry.
Anytime you call or email you are on the clock and they are billing for every minute. My emails most of the time were not responded to in 24, 48, 72 hours or even two weeks or longer. Often times I had no choice but to send a follow up email (which cost me more money that I was billed) to find out what was going on. I preferred emailing so I had things in writing. Over the phone it is a crap shoot she said/client said. Leaving me with no documentation backing anything up!
All of this to say, I think Mr. Horrigan needs to not represent so many clients at once and the communication with the paralegal and client needs to improve. I don’t think Mr. Horrigan actually really knows what is going on with each case as he has so many clients.
He does sound like he knows what is going on in the court room even if he was not stating facts. Not sure what he was going by? Maybe notes the paralegal gave him? Interesting……when they were clueless and too busy to really know all of the details.
One time I brought to Mr. Horrigan’s attention that I didn’t feel his paralegal was doing her job. He became very defensive and made excuses as to why it took weeks to get back to me. He let me know if I wasn’t happy I could go elsewhere. I should have left then, would have saved myself a ton of money.
Now I am representing myself. It does take a lot of time and energy to figure out everything but I have gotten more done on my own than when I was a client.
Just writing all of this so hopefully you can avoid some of the experiences I had to deal with. An attorney is only as good as his paralegal!!!

Long story short wasted 9 years and tons of money on other representation found out about Mr. Horrigan through friends of the family and it was literally the best decision I ever made this man and his staff are caring and on point and literally read through my entire file and brought up things that happened years prior this man actually cares about his clients and is the ONLY ATTORNEY that I have met that actually has a heart and is human 9 years of constant court dates and things getting pushed out to Mr. Horrigan having everything done and settled in 3 months I can’t express how much of a blessing this man is 🙏🙏🙏
