I was referred to Mr. Malin by a VERY reputable criminal defense attorney in both McLean and Livingston Co (Illinois) whom recently retired. He assured me that Mr.Malin would be excellent council to represent me. He stated that “I would need someone who was going to be a good attorney on both ends.” Referring to McLean and Livingston Co. I was very nervous about the charges I am facing in both counties. Hours and hours of google research and YouTube videos on characteristics of a good criminal defense attorney, I was very relieved to know that I saw all them qualities in Mr. Malin. I’m very appreciative of the time and effort he has put forth in explaining everything to not only me but taking time to speak with my husband and explain to him as well. I appreciated that. I’ve not dealt with legal issues much in life until recently and I appreciated having my husband aware to help explain to me so we were all able to get a better understanding. I feel that having him for representation has been truley a breath of fresh air for my family and I during this difficult and stressful time. It certainly has helped eased a lot of stress when myself and husband feel confident with our representation and he’s been what we feel going the going the extra mile with research and compassion twords what we are dealing with.

When I first contacted Ogar and Miller it was with the intent of hiring Helen Ogar. I had done my research and found several people that praised Helen Ogar as a “bulldog” saying she did a great job of fighting for her clients. However, Helen was not accepting new clients, so I was referred by her paralegal to her partner Todd instead. I mistakenly assumed Todd would be just like his partner. Instead, Todd seems bored by what he does, he lacks passion, has little to no fight in him, and if lawyers had such a thing as “bedside manner” Todd’s bedside manner would be nonexistent. He has little patience or tolerance for the emotional side of a divorce and does nothing to make things easier on his clients. His paralegal Nichole is really no better in that regard. I also found myself having to follow up multiple times to make sure things were getting done in a timely manner. Mistakes were made by them that could have and frankly should have been avoided. Ultimately after 6 months, and right before we were supposed to go to trial I finally became so frustrated by the service (or lack thereof) that I was being given I decided to voice my frustrations in an email. I felt I wasn’t being heard, they weren’t doing their due diligence, and I was fed up. I made it clear I would be writing a review of my experience with their law firm and it would be honest. I did not use derogatory language, I simply voiced my concerns to them. They did not take my negative feedback well and Todd decided to withdraw as my lawyer. That’s right, in the 11th hour they quit my case because their feelings were hurt. In 6 months I spent over $20,000 in legal fees to this firm, only to get nowhere with my case. I will not be recommending this firm to anyone.

After a bad experience with a previous probate lawyer, we looked at google reviews of many lawyers. Mr. Porter caught our eye since he had a good review from a judge.
It was even more difficult since my sister had just died which precipitated me taking over my mother's estate as well as executing my sister's.
After speaking to him and two other probate lawyers, we chose Mr. Porter.
It was a great decision. Mr. Porter is very efficient, very clear on time lines and explains things very clearly when asked. He made great use of email and billed for these emails extremely fairly. He was very supportive during this very difficult time. He prioritized necessary actions, e.g., placing the notice to creditors as soon as he could.
His assistant, Deanne, is also awesome. She would return emails and phone calls very quickly. She would also answer any questions she could. If she couldn't answer them, she'd get the answers and respond in a timely manner. She was also very kind and supportive during this awful time.
From what I can tell, Mr. Porter got the estates running and closed within the minimum time possible.
If you are in the unfortunate position of needing a probate lawyer, Mr. Porter should be at the top of your list.

I called looking to hire an attorney but wanted to ask a question first to see if it was even worth it. You're right, never been a client, however, can make sure reviews are left for the fact you have an attorney working under you, whom in fact committed misconduct, as well as encouraged the client to commit perjury, over and over again. I'm sure potential clients would like to know that, so they don't particularly hire that specific attorney. Which that attorney whose still working under you, has been submitted for misconduct to the attorney board too.

Easy Zero Stars!!! Hello world, I’m professional truck driver of almost 10yrs. I spoke about my case with a Mr. John Daniel and I was very shocked and displeased with his response. Now my case is very simple and easy, I know I can do it myself but I don’t live in McLean County never have, I’ve lived in St. Clair County my whole life. But basically what I needed for Wright Law Office in Bloomington, IL to do is file a petition on my behalf to get my MVR cleaned. I have just one traffic violation on my Motor Vehicle Report from 4yrs. ago. that’s really causing me a hard time regaining employment in my field of Transportation. I told John me not being able to regain employment has caused me so much trouble financially to the point where I could lose my home and not have anywhere to live or stay no more. So again, I proceeded to tell him “All I need from them was to file the petition, and because I’m unemployed, fill out the waiver fee for the petition so it would be free, and get a court date in front of a judge and ask the judge to please remove the speeding ticket from my record” This man RESPONSE was to file a petition doesn’t cost that much, it only cost about $40. But if you want our Law firm to do what you’re asking it’ll be about $1000. I said a Thousand Dollars??? Yeah that man Shiesty asl and petty af too because I just told him I wasn’t even employed. So PLEASE PLZ STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I have a lot to say that is negative about this firm. First, the retainer that is demanded is so outrageously high that it is absolutely ridiculous. I was originally quoted 15k. Then, after stating that I only had a specific amount, they found their one and only Mike Fenger to take my case. This is where the real joke began. At first, this firm appears professional, but don't let that deceive you.
I would receive emails from Mr Fenger and the firm that would only cover them after making mistakes. They would call me on the phone and chew me out. I did not understand what I was doing and kindly told them. They did not take the time to explain but rather took the time to tell me that they reacted the way they did because they were just really busy. I would tell them what I wanted to happen in my case, which is completely normal. However, I would get no response as to what i asked to get done, nor did I get what I asked for. The conversations that I would have with Mr Fenger in person would always have a different outcome either in court or through email. He would show up to court, looking like he had just rolled out of bed. His presentation in court represented the same. It was a joke. He acted like he did so much for me, but in reality, it was nothing he did but rather a new judge I received in the case. This can all be proved in the minutes of the case. After nothing was done in my case, I wasted over $8,000. Mr Fenger did nothing but take my money and give a lot of excuses. I told him that I was extremely unhappy and that I was going to leave this review. He was up set and worried about only his livelihood and could care less about my livlihood. He will not fight for you he will merely coward to the opposite party.
My children are suffering from this, and this man could care less. I would hear nothing about what was going on in my case except for a day or so before we had to go to court. He never would sit down with me to get a plan to execute in court to win. You will not win with this man as your attorney. He will only act like he is doing things while you will be steam rolled. Then, they will just say that it is only protocol. This is a lie. I have spoken with other attorneys and have found out that this was typical behavior of buy out. These people are only worried about their pocket book and their six-figure life styles. They can care less about how much you and your children are suffering. You can go somewhere else and spend less money and get a lot more.

Mike Fenger is an exceptional attorney! He was prepared, invested, and quick on his feet in the courtroom. He was very helpful at guiding me while tensions were high and was able to help me understand what to expect as the case progressed. Overall, I went from hardly any time (thanks to Virginia coomonwealth) with my kids, to a 50/50 joint situation, and I'm thrilled! I will definitely be using Mike in the future should I need representation again, and I would highly recommend him to any good father fighting for time with his children.

Clark Walker has been my attorney for over 10 years now. I wish I had the words to justify how great he has been to myself and my family. James made a mistake in a order that was suppose to be temporary and didn't put temporary and I lost half my maintenance award. Then he failed to file a withholding order. He was suppose to get attorney fees back from ex husband and he didn't do anything he said but he got paid.

Huge lawyer group based out of state that will steal any desperate Mother's money. Hasn't been my lawyer in 5 years/case is closed. STILL sending me multiple spam emails and day stating I owe money to the trust account. BBB needs to look into this company.

she was my exes lawyer in a divorce. she suppressed all my evidence of neglect of my son. now a few years later MOM is taking me to court for child support AFTER he turns 18 because he isnt going to graduate. BUT she was called fit and proper by this attorney. she will fight for you even if she knows she is WRONG!

Gene represented me when I was going through a divorce and a child custody battle for a few months before I requested a letter of relinquishment be written. I echo all the 1 and 2 star reviews. Waste of money and uses outdated practices for the state of IL. Gene wanted me to start paying child support to my ex when we didn’t even know where she was working or how much she was making at the time but advised me to start paying child support as “good faith” to potentially make me look better in court. I’m in a wheelchair and a father of 2 boys going through a custody battle and Gene props his feet on the table leans back in chair and tells me not to take offense to this but it seems like my dad was making all my decisions. He had me fill out an outdated financial affidavit from 2016. The law firm owes me a refund from my retainer and still have not received it. I can agree with another review listed here. He talks up a good game and that's all. He will not return phone calls, goes MIA, tells you you don't need to show up for court and doesn't bother to give ANY details of how it went. He suggested that I bring in a 3rd party, GAL so that my kids could consult with them on how they wanted visitation. That was $1000 and he never called them in to court. Total waste of time and money.
