Lisa LeFante is my absolute favorite lawyer! She represented me in mediation for a Separation Agreement and Consent Order for Child Custody as well as a modification of fee-split for the associated Parenting Coordinator. She continues to represent me each time my ex drags me back to Court. Lisa has been the *only* good part of the last 18+ months in the separation/divorce/child custody process.

My divorce wasn't something desired but Mrs. Lefante listened and provided knowledgeable legal guidance whereas during & later I didn't have to worry, legally, as to what happened. This quality from Lisa led to a quicker personal healing in my situation in addition to the support my Faith provided. We had some favorable outcomes too due to her toughness and reasonableness in negotiating with the other counselor. In the end i felt i only used a small bandwidth of Lisa's abilities for my matter. If one has a more complex situation facing them in a divorce, i would recommend Lisa quickly to provide a favorable remedy to them. Grace & Peace and thank you to Mrs Lefante and staff.

Ashley Stucker was absolutely amazing. She handled a child custody matter for me. When deciding who to hire to handle my matter, as a father I wanted someone who would fight, and Ashley did just that. She explained every step of the process in perfect detail. When we had our hearing it was clear she was the most prepared Attorney in the courtroom. During our hearing her questions and closing were absolutely perfect. I could easily tell how hard she worked to ensure she was well prepared and she put that on displaying during the hearing. She was very professional and easy to talk to. She was the perfect attorney for my case. I knew my case was going to be a battle and Ashley fought every step of the way. Ultimately I ended up with custody of my almost 2 year old son. One of the best decisions in my life was hiring Ashley to handle my case. I will never forget the work she did and I will always be grateful for her. I would highly recommend Ashley for anyone with a child custody matter.

Besides for being extremely professional, she was so down to earth, and easy to talk to. She has always made sure that all of my questions were answered, and that I understood everything 100%. The first day we had our consult, I left there feeling so relieved. She really knows her ins and outs of family law, and has helped me immensely. My best interest was her #1 priority. Alisa was truly a godsend to my life. I was in the depths of despair with my divorce with a very young child and felt hopeless and alone. She opened my eyes to the many possibilities and helped me regain my power for within again. I was feeling trapped and felt no where to turn and with just one consultation she provided me with information that truly changed my life. From where I was to where I am today is a complete life change. I am so happy and thriving and so is my son. Children are very resilient but they are also more aware then we want to believe. Now that mommy is stronger so is my son. His confidence level and happiness is off the charts. We could not have been more pleased with Mrs. Morris' services! Mrs. Morris assisted my husband and I with our estate planning needs. We were going overseas and leaving our small child in the care of family for one week and wanted to make sure we had everything taken care of just in case. She created our trusts, wills, durable and healthcare power of attorneys, emergency guardianship for my sister (just in case) and various other documents. She was incredible! We had no idea how involved this process was and she walked us through every single step, answering questions at all hours of the day, and she was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive to our concerns and needs. Mrs. Morris was flexible with our schedule and met us on a Tuesday evening to sign documents since my husband could not meet during the day due to work. She truly offers a very individualized, comprehensive service that caters to the needs of her clients. We would highly recommend Mrs. Morris to anyone who is considering estate planning!

My general impression is that Jenny is smart and no nonsense. Perhaps a good person to watch a basketball game at the local bar. Doesn't really get riled up in the drama of the case. I liked that. She's a straight shooter. Quick to understand the situation. Very efficient and clearly has experience. Yet that's also a major problem if you have a complex case. I think she let her staff do the brunt of the work. Cheaper in the short term but miscommunication errors were made. Cost me more in the end. No apology... just blame towards me. Somehow the customers fault. Jenny said my case could not be settled. Well my next lawyer got it done at a tiny fraction of what Jenny wanted to charge me. I made the hard decision of finding a new lawyer several months prior to the trial. The difference of my new lawyer was night and day. I also had a later chance to see emails from the opposing lawyer and it was clear some of the issues were because Jenny was dropping the ball. Never responding to the opposing emails. Jenny was hard to get in contact for me as well. Emails were infrequently answered. Never was given her direct number. Voicemail/answering service was the norm when calling the office. Once again a huge difference from my new lawyer who would respond to texts and emails late at night or even on weekends. It was clear that my new lawyer was vested in my case. Likely spent late nights thinking about how the resolve this two year hellish ordeal. In stark contrast to speak to Jenny, I had to schedule a phone appointment during her normal business hours. Finally, the divorce process was a very private affair for me. I did not appreciate the US Postal letters she sent that had her huge logo written all over it "TRIANGLEDIVORCE". Should be discrete. Overall I could not in good faith recommend Jenny. I think for a straight forward case she's likely very capable. For a complex case that required some actual personal attention... I think she's not really invested to make the effort. In the end I don't think she really cared. Just another client and paycheck. Just my opinion.

I had Jenny represent me in my separation process. From day one it was clear to me that her style of work reflected ethics and a desire for a fair settlement. Jenny is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. Recognizing how the legal system works she steered me in the right direction on many occasions. She listened to me but more importantly assisted my case without ever getting into nonsensical arguments. This comforted my situation many times and ultimately led to a fair settlement where I could preserve ALL that was important to me. Jenny is the best all-around and knows how to navigate through the rather arduous process with ease and comfort. To summarize she is: 1) Skilled, able and intelligent - made sure ALL my interest was honored. 2) Responsive, thorough and organized - responded to my needs even on Christmas holidays. 3) Cost-conscious with her legal fees and never wasted my or her time

Be careful of pushy advice to do an emergency custody hearing based on Ann Margaret Alexander's opinions and high fee which she earns with every outcome. Be aware that these hearings are very quick and may be based on falsified documents with no time to make an actual case and she will push to settle and acquiesce under pressure and collude with the other attorney. She makes a lot of money on these quick hearings and doesn't do her clients justice. It's amazing how her opinions change drastically after the hearing- an abusive parent is no longer abusive just the alpha parent (after she collects her fees). Also, be aware that these emergency custody hearings, if there is unfavorable outcome, will ruin any changes of a permanent custody change in the future. Do your research and homework in these situations!

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It’s not that she’s not a good lawyer but she clearly didn’t have the time for me. Her office didn’t either. It gave me a kickstart but that’s about it, but I wish I had gone with a different lawyer from the get go. I didn’t feel stood up for. I felt like I was my own lawyer and she was the title. She copy pasted what I wrote, did not advise, and then tweaked it very very little, no wonder the other lawyer was walking all over it. The one time she did tweak and did not agree it took over three emails to understand where she was coming from, and what she was actually advising, costing me more loss of time and money. On top of that, I did not understand the process of my custody situation nor was I told about a custody orientation date or requirement, so apparently I missed it, which I only found out from the new lawyer I hired. Her front office staff was not helpful at all, nor were her paralegals, and her availability was about weekly via emails with long awaited response time about 75% of the time. She stated she had 48 hours to legally respond, but I waited well over that. She did state she was being mindful of costs. If that was the case, she would have advised better from the beginning and in a clear email. How I went thru so much cash when I wrote all of the order with very little tweaking, no advising, and very little time talking is beyond me.

My friend was represented by her through Triangle Divorce for her separation agreement. My friend asked Lauren for any red flags in the agreement and Lauren failed to point out that the agreement would still be in effect if my friend reconciled and was a post-nup agreement then. Triangle Smart Divorce is AWFUL! I had been working with them since January until a week ago. They didn’t do anything but take my money and create a whole mess and debacle. I am utterly disappointed and disgusted in the representation I received, and how I was treated whilst working with them. The communication I got from them was the absolute bare minimum, and insufficient. Everything with Julianne started off great, but once my ex finally retained counsel, she changed her tune. I lost trust and confidence in her after she would go days without answering my emails— and when she did, it would only be a 1 sentence reply until I also changed my tune with her. Julianne was always speaking her personal opinions about me, and my situation, which I do not appreciate at all. She became very opinionated and biased after there was opposing counsel. I paid thousands of dollars, only to have her betray me and not communicate with me. I wish I could get my money back. After retaining new counsel, things are already moving in a different direction. I can already see major differences after just a week or so of working with my new attorney. I would never recommend this firm to anyone unless you just have money to waste and do not value communication. I wish I could give them a negative amount of stars.

Julianne Booth Rothert is truly one of the best lawyers I have ever worked with. She came highly recommended from an acquaintenance and I could not be more pleased with her services. She helped me through a very difficult divorce and financial settlement. She is extremely responsive and always has her clients best interests at heart. It was worth every dime I've spent for the legal advice and the moral support. She's a wife and mother so she can relate to the challenges you face. She understands human beings and the law -- a great combination. Compassion and legal expertise. I recommend her to every person that I met who stated they need a lawyer. The last individual I recommended her to actually receivied a recommendation for Julianne from 2 other individuals as well. Do not use this law firm. I had a small case I was treated as though I did not matter. It took them a year to do what should’ve been done in 90 days. Mr. Williams was unavailable, and his staff was less than courteous. He even refunded fees to me. That is indicative of his acknowledgment that he was subpar and less than professional in this matter. Divorce is a big event and you need the right people helping you. I hired Teresa to represent my family and I in a custody case back in 2012 with my daughter and her biological father. My husband (only dad she has ever known) has been in her life since she was 3 years old. As my daughter got older, she wanted her last name to be consistent with everyone else in our household. She also wanted to know why “daddy’s name wasn’t on her birth certificate. We sat her down and explained everything to her. Because she was 12 years old she was able to make the decision for herself and wanted the only dad she’d ever known to adopt her. Teresa’s services was recommended by a couple of other satisfied clients, so I reached out to her. Let me just start off by saying that Teresa was professional and thorough! She informed of everything that needed to occur to assist our daughter with getting her last name changed as well getting “her dad’s name” (my husband) on her birth certificate. He assured her that she would always be his daughter and none of that mattered, but for her it meant more than just a last name. As an athlete, she wanted his last name on her jersey when she dribbled the basketball up and down the court. In order, to make our daughter’s request happen, her bio father needed to sign his rights over. Well, he didn’t want to do that....just like he didn’t want to pay the years of child support that he was ordered by the court system to pay when she was a baby. He wasn’t an active part of her life financially, physically, or emotionally. But, to make a long story short, we faced a lot f opposition because her bio father wasn’t being supportive of our daughter’s request. Ms. Davis “worked her magic” and needless to say, he was forced to sign over his rights due to years of unpaid child support. Not only did he sign over his parental rights ro allow my husband to adopt our daughter, the judge made it mandatory for him to pay back child support (because he was listed as the father on her birth certificate during previous years) based on evidence provided by Ms. Davis!!! She is very knowledgeable, friendly, and I would recommend her to anyone who wants AWESOME representation!!!

I was very dissatisfied with Davis' performance. She started working only 3 days a week. Everything took months longer than it should have. I was told I would be called or e-mailed to keep me abreast of everything. I had to call to see if things were progressing. ( I was billed for calling of course) She would say she would let me know when something was done and never did. Documents I needed to sign before anything could continue sat on her desk and would still be there if I hadn't called to see what was going on. I honestly felt as though she was working for the other side. I worked 95% with her secretary. If you have lots of money, lots of time to waste and want to pay while you make sure everything is being done...Call T. Davis

What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.

  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
