Attorney Mr. Arusi Loprinzi of Perkins Law is a bright shining star. He rapidly stopped harassing communication with a cease and desist demand letter and negotiated terms regarding a property buyout. Throughout the process he listened attentively and communicated clearly, efficiently, and promptly. He knew the law, advocated for my best interest, and was direct with his recommendations regarding action steps. He solved two of my major life stressors in just a few weeks, out of court, with a favorable outcome. Anyone can read Mr. Loprinzi’s accolades on his bio/CV demonstrating that he is highly intelligent and experienced, but he is more than that. There is depth to him. There is kindness. Through the words he writes and in his attention to detail, he demonstrates care and compassion. The care is communicated by his timing and dedication. His compassion is communicated with thoughtful reflection of seeing all sides and possible outcomes. As I said to him at the end of the case, the words “thank you” do not adequately communicate the gratitude that I feel for Mr. Loprinzi. There is a special appreciation that forms when one literally restores your peace, safety and resolves a personal crisis. There is no adequate way to convey that depth of gratitude. I hold Mr. Loprinzi in high regard and have tremendous respect for him. You want this attorney in your corner and his boxing gloves are already on, ready to fight for you.

To Whom It May Concern, I am compelled to pen this recommendation to assist you in what could be one of your most pivotal decisions. Several years ago, I found myself entangled in a domestic dispute and made the decision to enlist the services of Attorney Arusi. From the onset, Arusi's approach was remarkably personal. He extended his ear to truly listen and empathized with my situation, making me feel more like a friend than a client during our initial meeting. His transparency and insight into the intricacies of the legal system were not only enlightening but also grounded in realism. Attorney Arusi exhibited a tenacious commitment to my case, demonstrating an almost inexhaustible work ethic that made it seem as though he was tirelessly working round-the-clock. His communication was both persistent and timely; I was regularly updated with calls during the early hours of the morning or late at night, reassuring me that my case was receiving the ceaseless vigilance of a special ops team. Ethically unimpeachable, Arusi showed a strategic boldness in his proceedings, unafraid to assertively make his presence felt to ensure that my voice was heard. His advocacy for my rights, particularly as a father, was unwavering. His correspondences were a bastion of truth, displaying a strategic acumen that left no stone unturned. Watching Attorney Arusi in the courtroom was witnessing a master at work – his legal acumen was nothing short of formidable, and I found myself almost in sympathy with the opposition due to his commanding presence and strategy. In the end, Arusi's efforts culminated in a victory for my case, and he was more than prepared to represent me through to the very last gavel strike. Without hesitation, I can assert that Arusi will forever be my initial contact for any legal matters, especially those of a domestic nature. If you seek a legal representative who exudes the precision and dedication of an elite operative, then I implore you to consider Attorney Arusi to champion your cause. Sincerely, Jameson

Arusi helped me through quite possibly the most difficult time in my life. He was caring, professional, knowledgeable and realistic. He was quick to respond to any emails and phone calls and always shot me straight. We ended up successful in court and he made the very difficult and emotional process of divorce so much easier. He gave me confidence to keep fighting for the outcome my children and I needed. He helped me feel safe and like I had someone fighting for my family's needs that genuinely cared about the income. I would whole heartedly recommend him to anyone who needs a compassionate, knowledgeable, personable attorney. He was amazing. I really cannot say enough good about him. Thank you for everything Arusi!

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Christian! My case drug on for nearly two years and I wanted to give in multiple times. Christian encouraged me to not give up and gave sound advice on how to keep proceeding. He was very clear with how my case was proceeding and forwarded all emails/correspondence from the opposing counsel to keep me well informed of what was going on. I most definitely would not have been able to do what he did on my own and I am forever grateful for his very professional help through a very trying time of life.

Words fall short in expressing my gratitude for Christian. With great dignity and care, Christian worked to help me navigate a long and emotional parenting time matter. Throughout all the work on my case, Christian remained transparent, honest, and always gave attention to detail. I never wanted to have to take the road through the courts, unfortunately circumstances called for legal support and I am very grateful I chose Christian to represent me. I highly recommend Christian's services.

I retained Mr. Knox as a criminal defense attorney in September 2021 after being arrested for a false felony DV charge and associated misdemeanor charges after an argument with my ex-partner. Mr. Knox visited me while in jail and said I needed to provide $10k upfront to take my case. At first he seemed understanding, knowledgeable, and engaged but that quickly shifted. After our initial meeting upon release from jail, he was mostly uncommunicative about the case, not responding to multiple inquires for weeks at a time, not even from his paralegals or office staff. He provided no information to me that I needed to hire a separate civil/family lawyer to deal with custody/visitation issues for my infant daughter, despite multiple inquires about that process. When I discovered that separately and asked him about it, he referred me to another attorney that actively made the situation with my ex worse. When I asked about what I could do proactively to demonstrate my willingness to comply with the legal process, he off-handedly said "Go register for one of those DV Intervention programs or whatever the [F-word] they are called". At our plea bargain in Feb 2022, he seemed more interested in sharing the fact that he knew the assistant DA personally than he did about the details of my case. When I protested that the assistant DA was repeating the lies my ex was spinning to the court, he told me to "shut up or you'll ruin everything". He did not attempt to counter them in any way. He allowed a No Contact Order against my infant daughter to be part of the felony plea down to misdemeanor, even though she was not harmed or involved in the incident in any way other than being 5 weeks old and in the room at the time. This allowed my ex to keep our daughter from me for the 2 years of my probation, without even sharing pictures or updates. He seemed completely uninterested with my concerns of being prevented from parenting my infant (and only) child. At no point did he share with me the evidence provided in the police arrest report that demonstrated I was not guilty of the felony, or question the poorly conducted investigation in any way. When I asked him, at the plea bargain, what his experience was with this kind of case, he hemmed and hawed, and only after multiple direct inquiries did he acknowledge he had never argued a felony DV case in trial. He was pushing the plea bargain because that is all he knew how to do. He had previously explained the risk of going to felony trial, but not that he had no experience doing so until pressed directly as we were walking into the courtroom. At no point did he disclose what the negative ramifications of pleading guilty to the misdemeanor could/would be. After the conviction and sentencing, he did not tell me anything about the probation requirement for immediately signing up for a Probation Officer, and I almost got an immediate probation violation. Within a few weeks of the plea bargain, he removed himself from representing me. He flat out did not know what he was doing, and rather than disclose that while I was under duress in jail, he took my $10K, did the bare minimum, and jumped ship as soon as possible. I lost my home, job, professional license, standing in my business community, friends, relationship with family members, and 2 years of my infant daughter's life because of his incompetence on a case that multiple other attorneys have since said was easily winnable. He didn't even try. He is a personal injury attorney that has no experience taking complex criminal defense cases to trial, and his mishandling of this case ruined my entire life. I would sue him for ethical misconduct and misrepresentation, but the 2 year statute of limitations has passed. I am reporting him to the bar for malpractice without disclosing his lack of experience. Do not hire him for complex criminal defense representation.

I filed a restraining/move-out order against my former partner, who had become increasingly angry, abusive, and I feared violence from him. I wanted to be sure that he would not be allowed back into my home so I hired Greg Oliveros to represent me. My former partner was challenging the order so we went to court. Before the hearing Greg went to talk with him. He told him that he had about a 1% chance of winning and he negotiated a settlement of the case. It has been an incredible relief to have it over with! Greg is very kind, thorough and has a heart. I recommend him unconditionally! His staff is absolutely wonderful, too. :)

I was very disappointed with the service I got especially for the tens of thousands I was charged. I had trouble getting anyone to return phone calls and emails yet when they wanted more money they hounded me for days and their collections guy was just this side of Guido. In the end they wouldn't help me anymore if I didn't pay them another $5k. Everything was done at the last minute and offers were done without my consent. It was basically damage control with absolutely no real concern for me as a client. As a matter of fact I got more information from my ex and their lawyer than I did from my own. When they did respond to my emails it was with responses like talk soon, and will look into it but I got charged every time for that. When I emailed to check on status because they didn't update me same thing, full charge even when I had to repeatedly request information because they did not get back to me, they blew through 5k every two months with no progress. I got charged many thousands to sit down wi a “paralegal “ that they fired and days of data supplied by me was simply lost. A true spousal support discrepancy was deemed “ indefensible “ by Mr. Oliveras and the last time I was innhis office he had more due diligence watching a basketball game during the “session “. They dropped me during settlement negotiations and really should be charged with legal malpractice. Then I ended up defending myself as when I got upset on unapproved settlement terms they told me that I was recorded on their phones and that “Greg would review my recording as to what they would continue to “represent “ me - lol. In the end my ex and I managed to come together and settle it ourselves with my ex's lawyer writing it up, filing it, and my ex giving me a copy of the agreement because my lawyer couldn't be bothered. If for some reason I ever need a lawyer again I will not choose this firm. It has put me off all lawyers, and I hope to never see this team of lazy salespeople again. I am ordained and this was already a very rough situation for me and was contentious in the beginning which is why I was looking for the assistance of a lawyer in the first place even though I didn't really have the money they wanted. Sadly nobody would help me or even cared or even asked about my disabled child at home or showed any concern about my financial reversal. This is the service I got. I'm way worse off financially now all to get an agreement that my ex and I made together with no help from the big 007 Oliveras Law Group. YOU ARE BETTER OFF REPRESENTING YOURSELF

He even helped us out with rides when we needed it. I couldn't have asked for a better attorney. I strongly recommend.

What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.
  • Enforcing court orders: Helping you enforce court orders related to child support, alimony, or custody if the other party fails to comply.
  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
