Hired Sam last minute, literally 48hrs before court, and with how prepared she was, you’d think she knew my case for months. Her coordinator, James, was phenomenal in gathering the information and putting the packets together for her. She kept it 100% with me the entire time, things she thought the courts would agree to and told me when to back off of other items. I hate to say we “won” our case because in child custody matters, it shouldn’t be able winning or losing, but she got exactly what was best for my child. And that is all I was concerned about. She was concise, articulate, to the point, with poise and a firm no nonsense tone in her voice she breezed through the hearing. I couldn’t be more happy with her and her team. They came together in a rush and we can a successful outcome. In a moment of panic, she had me take a moment, talked over things, and prepped me to face the opposing party. I haven’t felt that confident around him in years.

I was referred to Holstrom, Sissung Mark & Anderson by a friend who said they were the very best. I have to say he was absolutely right! Since the moment I walked in to the firm I felt as if a huge wheight lifted off my shoulders. That day I met with Dayn, he was firm and very knowledgable. Nov 2023, I chose to take leave after a long military deployment. Unfortunately, my leave was disrupted by a driver who chose to drink, drive and rear ended my family and I. As I was sitting in the hospital waiting room waiting for my mother and daughter to be seen I knew we needed someone to represent us. I deep dive into the internet reading reviews on several local attorneys.
I soon found Marc. All the reviews seemed genuine. I sent him and several others that passed my screening. First thing the following morning I had a message from his office offering an appointment as soon as the same day. He showed patience, compassion and understanding. There was no doubt in my mind that he was my guy.
Soon after I went on deployment and he worked with me even through the difficulties of having to find me medical attention out of state and sometimes having no comms with me.
At the time of settling with the insurance company, I have no doubt that he was aggressively fighting for us.
I don’t think that we would have had the outcome we had had it been another attorney.
If you need an attorney who cares and is willing to go above and beyond to look out for your best interest don’t waste your time with anyone else. Marc is your guy!

From the initial interview with lacilento it seemed a little shady. First he said how much did I quote you? He hadn’t quoted me so I yet airballed 2k? He charged me 5500. Before he was involved I had some contact with my little girl. 6k later I have zero contact with my daughter , I was shocked when he asked for more money. I was shocked he charged 2k for 30 min we were in court . I was shocked when he charged me 450 for a 4 minute phone call . Thank you Iacilento for strongly upholding the vile reputation of most lawyers

I was asked by a friend (not internet savvy) to help search for some legal advice, so I turned to yelp to filter out the top rated lawyers to cut down on call time.
Aventus was the second on the list that I had called and ended up being the last since I didn't need to call on any others. They genuinely listened to the scenario and gave some sound feedback. I setup an appointment so they could talk directly in detail with my friend. I'm happy that Aventus helped my friend get things resolved quickly, and my call list short! Be careful with these sharks. Have your guard up in the end they’re here to make money and that’s their number one priority.
Long story short, I went in with my case. Other party was using non existent arrears to have me bend at their will. I went to them for help and they strung me along making me think I had a chance.
First court date comes up and judge calls off. Over $1500 for that day and all I got was a continuance.
They charge me for 3 missed phone calls that totaled up to just under $300
My attorney called me the the wrong name twice.
Other party reaches out for an agreement proposal and instead of attempting to resolve they state “attorney is ready to go” and we proceed to court. $2800 later and all they did was ask for continuance.
$16,000 later and they tell me to just agree to the terms other party has presented me. The exact same position I was in before I hired Reel father rights. Thousands in the hole and no custody of my child. Beware of them.

From the day that I walked into meet with Jeff and Dayn it has been a pleasurable experience. I was forced to hire an attorney when my ex filed a motion for full custody of our daughter even though I had been the custodial parent since birth . After making a few calls to law offices I made an appointment to meet with Dayn Holstrom.. I have worked with Dayn, Jeff and Mariana throughout my case and I have never been disappointed. I was very comfortable with each of them. I never felt nervous at any time throughout my case. Before I hired them, I was representing myself and it has been very scary. They did a great job in representing me and won my custody case for me. I have an upcoming support hearing and I am comforted by the fact that I know I have great representation. Dayn agreed to work with me financially. Had he not done this I would have been fighting this battle alone. Dayn’s firm is the first and only attorney I have used. she was my former attorney, and I fired her after acted against my will three time on the same issue. I have serious reservations about her competence and ethical conduct:
1. She ignored and acted against my will not once, not twice, but three times on the same issue. I didn’t feel like I was respected at all. She failed to communicate her strategy and get my consent, which I think is to the purpose of maximizing her billing hours.
2. Her oversight delayed my case for a month. I told her the other party’s translation was not done by a court-certified translator twice, one time via phone, one time via email. she just ignored it. When the judge asked her if she knew that, she said she didn’t. I don’t know if she perjured herself or she didn’t remember. The result is that I had to wait a month for the other party to get the translation done by court-certified translator.
3. I believe Ms. Eyre knew the court wouldn't grant spousal support and attorney's fee while the jurisdiction hasn't been determined, the best option for me was to continue the hearing until the jurisdiction is determined. But instead she deliberately found a case law that’s obviously irrelevant to jurisdiction and pretended that I had a chance so that she could argue in court to maximize her billing hours. In re Marriage of Knox, 83 Cal.App.5th 15 (2022), the case law she used, has no bearing on jurisdiction. I think this action resulted in a Breach of Duty. If she argues that that’s not her intention, then she is incompetent to see that the case law had no bearing on jurisdiction. I consulted multiple lawyers, they all told me every lawyer knows the court wouldn't grant any financial relief while the jurisdiction hasn't been determined, this is taught in the first year of law school I felt deeply wronged upon learning this. I knew lawyers could be greedy, but I thought she'd go easy on me because I told her I couldn’t get a job due to my immigrant status and had taken a loan to fund the lawsuit.
I strongly advise against considering her for your legal needs.

Alex recently represented me as part of Kristen Holstrom's team in a custody and child support dispute. Admittedly, I was nervous at first with Alex only being an attorney for a short amount of time; however he understanding this he was able to communicate what the plan of attack was and how we would move forward with the case. After sitting five minutes with Vonya I new my case and life was about to change for the good. The main thing she did was listen and supported me and my family from the start. She was able to explain everything in detail which removed my anxiety and fear. She then took over and started fighting for me. Her sensitivity, patience’s, and professionalism is bar none. I was looking at ten years, with four felonie strikes. I ended up going to trial. My case ended with me receiving 58 days work released, and informal probation.

They charge me for 3 missed phone calls that totaled up to just under $300
My attorney called me the the wrong name twice.
Other party reaches out for an agreement proposal and instead of attempting to resolve they state “attorney is ready to go” and we proceed to court. $2800 later and all they did was ask for continuance.
$16,000 later and they tell me to just agree to the terms other party has presented me. The exact same position I was in before I hired Reel father rights. Thousands in the hole and no custody of my child. Beware of them.

Excellent attorney. I have 2 children to which he got me more visitation time with. He also reduced my child support and was helpful in straightening out my arrears. He was also helpful in getting the court to inform my children's mother to find a job and to stop living off of me. He took my calls past business hours and would meet up with me at my convenience. He was also very flexible with how he was paid since I didn't have a lot of money to pay him upfront. Very good attorney who I would definitely recommend.

Nov 2023, I chose to take leave after a long military deployment. Unfortunately, my leave was disrupted by a driver who chose to drink, drive and rear ended my family and I. As I was sitting in the hospital waiting room waiting for my mother and daughter to be seen I knew we needed someone to represent us. I deep dive into the internet reading reviews on several local attorneys.
I soon found Marc. All the reviews seemed genuine. I sent him and several others that passed my screening. First thing the following morning I had a message from his office offering an appointment as soon as the same day. He showed patience, compassion and understanding. There was no doubt in my mind that he was my guy.
Soon after I went on deployment and he worked with me even through the difficulties of having to find me medical attention out of state and sometimes having no comms with me.
At the time of settling with the insurance company, I have no doubt that he was aggressively fighting for us.
I don’t think that we would have had the outcome we had had it been another attorney.
If you need an attorney who cares and is willing to go above and beyond to look out for your best interest don’t waste your time with anyone else. Marc is your guy!

I found myself in a nasty divorce with my ex who has been a paralegal for over 20 years. Having to go to court to argue a restraining order that my spouse was trying to have granted, and I knew I needed help. I saw an advertisement for a free consultation just within days of my court hearing for Mrs. Coy’s services. However, the calendar appeared to not have availability before the hearing. I Was with this law office for about a year, almost two when Chris Carter voluntarily signed off on my case due to my inability to make higher payments than what I was at the time paying, of $100.00 a month. I paid all I could manage financially, since he allowed via the judge to order that I pay my child's full private school tuition. The day he signed off on my case, Chris told me specifically that I could leave, "there's no court today." Which resulted in the judge ordering me to pay the ex back $400.00 and up to a total of close to $14,000.00 for criminal attorney fees and the crooked, court ordered monitor that my P.I. Caught breaking the rules of supervised visitation and carrying on a relationship. Chris should've fought harder in court for my child and I. Mr. Carter could've told the judge that we didn't want supervised visitation lifted, but that the judge look at the P.I. Evidence against the NCP (non custodial parent/respondent) and the crooked, court ordered visitation supervisor, but he did not. The money I've been ordered by the court to pay the ex, could've gone to paying Mr. Carter however, I'm now only able to afford a lesser payment than what I had been paying him initially as a result. Mr. Carter's office stopped sending me statements for payments and I had so much going on at that time that I'd forget to make a payment, he ended up suing me for around $7,000 - $8,000, he won, because the judgement was made in my absence, I was at work during the hearing. I'm thankful to Chris Carter for the best thing he ever did for my case, which was to divorce the ex and I.

Through the duration of my case he was punctual and quick in responding to me calls, and questions. I am just now wrapping up a 4 year grueling divorce case. I had previous council that came highly recommended and had a matching fee schedule. Within a very short time I had burned through $10,000 of fees and had nothing in the way of results to show for it. After a short period of going it alone I was forced to retain council once again. I retained Chris Carter and I am very glad that I did.
Chris is a regular guy that is very plain spoken and will tell you what you need to hear rather than what you would like to hear. He represents his clients aggressively. He does not hesitate to show a little emotion in the court room when necessary. His knowledge of the of both Family and Civil law were invaluable in my situation. He quite literally made opposing council look foolish in court by correcting their novice interpretation of the law.
The bottom line is simple. When you are shopping for an attorney you need a few basic things.
Knowledge/Experience - He is a second generation attorney. It's been his whole life!
Communication - Plain English without all the BS.
Financially Efficient - You get results for what you pay.
Proven Success - Plain and simple, Chris wins.
I had the attorney with the plush office and all the bells and whistles. They took my money and were offended when I questioned their effectiveness and results. I would much rather have the second generation attorney working out of the same office building that his father built 40 plus years ago. Chris is regular guy that gets you the results you want at a fair price because he doesn't waste your fees on all the frills.
Lastly, and I cannot over state this, you will feel like a member of his family. He takes you and the case personally. He feels your pain and gets just as frustrated as you do. In a tough case you want a competent attorney that feels the same gravity as you.

I encountered Mr. Smith during a legal proceeding where he represented my ex, my opposing party. Initially, he attempted to intimidate me into dropping the case, but unfortunately for him, I am a tough gal. Throughout our interaction, it became evident that he lacked familiarity with the court order and tried to manipulate the conversation to his advantage without the actual knowledge to do so. This meant that several times he requested to “stipulate” things that were already in the order (per Talking Parents, Child's clothing, etc.). His attempts to get into my head were transparent, and it's clear he's better suited for law than psychology. And bringing me outside to intimidate me is showing your cards.
Despite his efforts to unsettle me, I remained composed. His sarcastic remarks and lack of preparedness were telling that he had no ground, so there was no need for me to rattle my nerves. It seemed he was more concerned with avoiding embarrassment in front of the judge and taking the loss than effectively representing his client. Imagine being as unprepared with the judge as he was with me, a pro se opposing party.
It’s clear his client was not honest with him, and while that’s not acceptable, Mr. Smith should have done more research instead of taking his client's word for things. Not all people are truth-tellers. But this speaks to the faith that Smith has with his clients, and that’s admirable.
Moreover, the unnecessary delays and lack of communication only added to the frustration; as he requested 3 continuances just to pull me to the side for what could have been a phone call 4 months ago. This ultimately led me to request child support, which I had already taken off the table, because of the financial burden these days off cost me for absolutely nothing.
While Mr. Smith seems like he is a great person, his overall performance left much to be desired. Definitely has become desensitized to the fact that these are children’s lives and families he’s working with. It's disappointing that my ex wasted money on his services, especially considering the lack of results. In the end, I felt sorry for both my ex and Mr. Smith, as their actions only prolonged the ordeal without anything truly being resolved. Maybe they slept better because they “convinced” me to drop a case. But Mr. Smith couldn’t convince a dog to bark or a cat to meow.
In summary, Mr. Smith earns two stars for his ability to try his best with what he’s given, but loses points for incompetence and lack of effectiveness. I mean, if you’re going to sit in my face and speak about something that I know by the letter (my custody order), at LEAST read it.
Also, the fact that his only hope was that he could push me to drop the case and he was so confident that he could do that that he didn’t actually prepare is absurd. You're an attorney. It’s been a running joke that my ex and Mr. Smith are the blind leading the blind and this now been confirmed.
It's a reminder that some family law lawyers prioritize profit over justice, perpetuating conflict rather than resolving it. I am sure I will see him again, and I look forward to working with him in the future!
