There aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am to Wendy. She went above and beyond handling my case always guiding me and helping me understand what was in my best interest and how to protect myself. Going through a divorce is a difficult and emotional process but with her at my side every step of the way, I made it through AND got ALMOST if not everything I requested in my MSA. If you want to have an honest, hard working, diligent lawyer, then you want to hire her! The alternative is, you can hire a law firm and yes they’ll represent and work for you but you’ll just be their client. Wendy didn’t make me feel like just a client; she truly cared and had compassion about the many complex matters during my divorce. Thank you Wendy for all you do for your clients. Anyone who hires you is already winning 🫶🏼

Richard helped us with traffic matters. I was on the verge of losing my license and was suutably worried. After I consulted with a dozen lawyers, Richard really stuck out. He was helpful, patient, and understanding. Has great energy and is highly motivated. I ended up keeping my license and am extremely satisfied with the outcome. Would definitely hire again and recommend to friends and family.

Everybody in this law firm is so incredibly amazing! Very thorough and really know what they are doing! Aside from Pam being extremely knowledgeable- everyone in the office seems to always be up to date on everything! They are so pleasant to speak to every time I’d call about anything! They kept me updated every step of the way in my case- and not only did they put their best foot forward- they guided me the whole way through my case with their best advice! They truly care about their clients not as a number. But as a person who deserves the best! Pamela is honest about everything! If I could have given more than a five star I would have loved to because that’s what they deserve! I recommend this law firm to everyone and anyone who needs a good Injury lawyer!

Lois represented me as at the victim/plaintiff in a domestic violence case, where I was seeking to obtain a civil restraining order. Lois took the time to explain all my options and helped me pick the one that best fit the circumstances and met my needs. Throughout every step of the process, she went above and beyond to assure that I felt safe and comfortable. Lois’ extensive knowledge of the law and compassionate, kind presence brought a sense of order and safety back into my life. With her support, I successfully obtained a retraining order and full possession of my house. It has been four and a half years since Lois represented me. The memory of my domestic violence experience has thankfully faded into the past. Yet, I will always remember and be appreciative of her excellent legal representation and support.

I hired Mr. Peter Ventrice as my third attorney in my divorce case. One of my good friends recommended Peter to me since she had a positive experience with Peter as his client. Peter is highly professional and an experienced attorney. My case then turned into complicated mess and was being dragged for years, I have already changed two advocates. I was losing hope without a clear path to closure. Peter got on my case as my third advocate handled my case with great professionalism. He was highly detail oriented skillfully pointed out important facts critical to my case all in my favor. I was confident and hopeful after hiring Peter Ventrice. He makes his clients opinions heard and always makes them a priority in the case. Peter closed my case gracefully in a short span of time. I am extremely happy that I chose Peter as my advocate. I highly recommend Mr. Peter Ventrice to everyone looking for an experienced and a professional attorney.

I hired Peter many years ago to handle my divorce. My ex was dragging the process out and making life difficult. Peter got on the case and pushed things thru giving my ex and her attorney no choice but to move ahead and finalize the divorce. Many years later I was having trouble with the QDRO from the divorce as it was never executed. Again I hired Peter , he handled this matter and quickly had it resolved and I received my portion of the QDRO. Peter is easy to talk to, explains matters in a way I can understand, leaves me feeling positive about my issues at hand. I couldn't ask for a better experience.

I don't have words to describe how amazing this firm is. Lenny represented me during my divorce process and was absolutely amazing. He was attentive, always responsive and did what no other attorney on earth would do, he showed immense sensitivity towards the emotions that ran me during that difficult time. Lenny taught me to not let my feelings cloud my judgement, and to look at the case objectively. Not only was he an absolutely amazing attorney who fought for everything I requested, but he genuinely cares. No case is just "another case". He treats each individual case with care for your outcome both monetarily, emotionally and mentally. Regarding pricing this law firm was EXTREMELY FAIR! One thing as a business owner I've learned is that "cheap work isn't good ,and good work isn't cheap". And this firm did AMAZING work and did not overprice like every other firm would. I was faced with losing assets among other things and Lenny defended me and honestly saved my life! Lenny was a true Mensch. If I am stupid enough to marry someone with as many red flags a second time around, I would gladly be a return customer!!

This review is being written anonymously for the public however the fraud individual who posted the five star, lengthy review, knows EXACTLY who this review is being written by. To begin, the purpose of this review is to inform and alert the public, and to expose richard labbe for the DISINGENUOUS, FRAUD, DISHONEST, "drunk" with "power, Extremely EGOTISTICAL, SPITEFUL, MALICIOUS, IMMATURE & UNPROFESSIONAL, school administrator, that he is. In an article written and published online by staff writer Matthew Sockol, on June 27, 2017, "The Sayreville Board of Education has renewed the contract of the district's Superintendent of Schools for four years. On June 13, the board voted 5 -3 to renew the contract of Superintendent richard labbe ( name typed in lower case intentionally) from July 1 through June 30, 2018. Board Vice President Phyllis Batko and Thomas Biesiada voted NO. Board member Lucy Bloom was absent. According to district administrators, labbe will receive a salary of $196, 584 for 2017-218; $200,516.00 for 2018 -2019; $204,526.00 for 2019 -2020; and $208, 617.00 for 2020 -2021" HENCE his five star review of this law firm. The superintendent is led by greed and guided by his deep hidden insecurities and mental flaws. There is No care for the students of the school district which he has been allowed to "run" The only care he has is keeping his pockets lined with HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS DOLLARS which funds his nearly half a million dollar home. After My first hand dealings with this HIGHLY INCOMPETENT Money Hungry, fragile ego possessing male, I understand clearly why his reappointment in 2017 was WITH OBJECTION. Of course he will write and publish a five star lengthy review of the law firm that has had to represent and defend his plethora of FLAWS in his tenure and INCOMPETENCIES which have led to the School District being sued. For the public who have read and will read richard labbe's review, I will state this, do NOT TRUST A WORD he has written. It's BIAS and he has been paid very well to write his review. If you are an educated parent, who is involved in your child's education, and you stand up and advocate for what is in the BEST INTEREST OF YOUR CHILD, richard labbe WILL attack you and INTENTIONALLHY WEAPONIZE the local police precinct against you in his sick power drunk effort to ruin your name and try to take away your freedom. One can see clearly, that the nickname for this mentally deluded individual, DEFINITELY SUITS him 1000% The law firm that as represented richard labbe, has served as his enabler; permitting him to go UNSCATHED for his plethora of CRIMES AGAINST YOUNG INNOCENT STUDENTS = THE FUTURE of This WORLD. The nickname for the name richard, is _____________ #NoWonder Go figure.

What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.
  • Enforcing court orders: Helping you enforce court orders related to child support, alimony, or custody if the other party fails to comply.
  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
