Family court is rarely a “good” experience. But even in the bad experiences, having Don to fight for you and your kids makes the bad times feel less heavy. He doesn’t fill your head with promises and is very honest about what can be done. He communicates with you about all possible outcomes and genuinely listens to your worries and makes sure you understand what is happening. SO thankful for everything you’ve done Don! My only regret is not finding him sooner.

David failed to appear for two family court appearances. David took advantage of a young father seeking legal counsel recently in Oakland County, Mi. I will be submitting a grievance regarding David accepting retainers without appearing, failing to call his client back, failing to appear in court, and overall being unfit to provide legal counsel/services in good faith. David, you told my son he would receive his full retainer back on Monday 8/19/24 for your failure to act as his legal representation. Where is his retainer? Call Jake back, answer your calls. Several red flags about David would be he doesn’t have a paralegal. A paralegal would make sure you are in court when you are hired to be there. David doesn’t return calls, texts or emails. Do not use David for your case he’s not acting in good faith & shouldn’t be practicing currently as an attorney. David you stole my son’s time and his ability to trust his own hired counsel. You should be ashamed wasting both parties time and money. I talked to you about your behavior on Monday 8/19/24, you told me my son is your best client…. Now people can read all about how you treat your “best client”. You need rehab. And I will make sure the bar association knows every detail about your treatment of my son.

This lawyer on the website advised to pursue a lawsuit against my employer. How ever, when we talked, most if the discussion referred back to how much it would cost me up front. He stated I could not as that the other party pay my legal fees. When explaining my situation to him he would interrupt and make another comment about how much I would have to pay him up front. He told me it would be almost $2000 just for him to block out time to go over and review my case. The money was not to say he is taking my case just to review information. He could not reiterate to me my complaints with the exception of one.

I have been in the legal system unfortunately since before my daughter was born and I had a case for what was best for my daughter. Deborah took the case on quickly and did beyond what was expected. She was extremely thorough and steered me in the right direction on how the case could be won by providing facts. I could tell she genuinely wanted what was best for my daughter which was priceless. Deborah handled my recent Divorce 2018.
I found Deborah to be extremely professional. Whilst she would state her case to me, Deborah also found the time to listen to my concerns. It was a difficult divorce and at every turn and twist Deborah was on top of the case. We are both strong willed people and had our disagreements at times, however being the professional she is Deborah was able to understand the stress I was under and found a solution to calm the situation. Her advice throughout the case was spot on.
Both Deborah and her staff were great to work with and I would highly recommend her and her team.

My experience with Ihrie O’Brien Law has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. They were hired to handle the probate for my deceased mother’s estate. The problems started in November of 2023 when they missed a filing deadline. I informed them of this fact after receiving a letter from the court which said I had 28 days to comply. When that deadline was also missed, I received a court ordered notice to appear. They said they would check with the court and get back to me. More than a week passed without hearing from them, so I contacted the court myself and learned the appearance notice was dismissed (thank goodness). Fast forward to July 1, 2024 and I had not yet received documentation showing the probate was closed, so I contacted them and requested a status. After checking with the court, they claimed it was closed mid March but did not get a certificate from the court. They said they would acquire a copy and provide it later that day, or the next. Weeks went by without hearing from them so I again had to contact the court myself and received the document within three days. When I first met with them, I was informed the probate process averaged five to six months. This has taken over 13 months and would still be lingering without my constant follow up. Hoping to avoid leaving a negative review, I wrote a letter to the partners (Ihrie and O’Brien) expressing my concern with how these affairs were handled. There was no response. I hired them in a time of need and in grief to take burden off of my family. Instead, they have fostered uncertainty and stress.

Claimed to be experienced in our type of case and clearly wasn't. Couldn't hear clearly in court (he needs a hearing aid) and lost the case.
