I was a single mother trying to maintain primary physical custody of my young son and Kurt Mausert failed to make that happen. He actually basically gave the father 50/50 custody which is still effecting myself and my son to this day.
I would say if you are a mother looking to hire a lawyer for a child custody case to steer clear of hiring Kurt Mausert.

I cannot recommend Kurt highly enough. He has handled several family court matters for me, as well as a personal injury case for a family member -- all with great success. Mr Amedio quit as my representation immediately when I requested a meeting to go over discrepancies in his billing, Over billing, and missing cash retainer funds. This was only days before a court date and 10k invested into a simple divorce. He has yet to turn over my records to my new Representation intentionally causing a nightmare transition. Donna was retained and paid for 16 months on my divorce case. She repeatedly told me after i had paid her 75k, that she didn't want to represent me but refused to tell me why and threatened that if i didn't sign a release we would write letter to the judge
"that wouldn't be good for me." 6 months and another 50k later she did apply to the court to be dismissed despite the fact that she had no legitimate grounds. She was my second lawyer and i felt that my hands were tied. She refused to even let me sign a proposal that was offered and refused to put anything that i wanted to offer on the table. She writes a lot or repititious and epic documents instead of verbally negotiating. She lies and exaggerates.. that was my experience. she refused to communicate or send documents to me for the last 2 months of the case but charged me 20k for the last month alone. I am going to go to the board of ethics. I am lucky that i survived. i got divorced thru my friends lawyer in 45 minutes after having paid her over 125K. She is dangerous and will drain all of your money.

I hired Donna Wardlaw to represent me in a divorce action. She was very unprofessional and charged me outrageous sums of money. I had to file bankruptcy because of her fees. She tried to control an inheritance I received during this time. I told her that I wouldn't agree to it. We had many clashes, and she acted very unprofessional towards me, berated me about my performance at a deposition, and talked down to me. I would not recommend her to anyone. I paid in excess of $50k for a divorce that my new lawyers, after I fired her, informed me would normally have been a third of what I paid to her if I had gone elsewhere.

I hired this atty, through a recommendation, to handle my divorce. Rosenthal Was a poor choice!! He lacked every aspect of a professional attorney, had absolutely no knowledge of how to handle the case against an aggressive opponent, and admitted he had no court experience…as we sat in Supreme Court to try the case!! He was dishonest in how he handled my case, relative to costs, charging me X2’s for the same work sometimes and when I brought it to his attention, he said he was giving me a “credit for part of his work”!
I’ve filed a complaint with the NYS Bar Association!

Horrible lawyer and will NEVER recommend using her. I hired her thinking I could trust my lawyer, she was far from that. She clearly only looked out for her best interest.
After her lying to me saying she reviewed the final divorce proposal when in fact she didn't.....I lost a tax exemption for my son and many other issues. I thought I could trust her. Losing the tax exemption meant I lost approximately $25,000 until my child reached 21. Every time I called her it was as if I was bother. Rarely returned phone calls with 2-3 days of leaving a message. I wasted a lot of money thinking she could be trusted. "Never Use Nancy"
