I was referred to Mr. Riddick by another lawyer. The lawyer told me that Mr. Riddick was a great attorney. My matter involved gaining more access to my only child, a son. My son's mother wanted sole custody and for me to have much less visitation.
I explained the situation to Mr. Riddick, and he gave me his thoughts and advice on how best to proceed. Mr. Riddick talked to me in a way that made sense, and it was clear that we was quite experienced.
The case took a little less than a year to conclude, but was just resolved favorably for me. Instead of my child's mother getting sole custody, I kept joint custody and got almost double the time I had been getting. For sure, I got a great result.
But I received more than good legal advice. Mr. Riddick encouraged me in other areas of my life, including pushing me to purchase a home, which I am preparing to do, and maintaining a proper relationship with my son's mother, who can be a very difficult person.
I feel like I have really grown as a young man while the case was pending. The case is now over. And Mr. Riddick treated me really well.
He is a terrific lawyer.

My wife's co-worker referred me to Mr. Riddick. Her co-worker told her that Mr. Riddick was thorough, thoughtful, and would get the job done. My case was very complex. I got divorced twenty years ago, and my former attorney DID NOT take care of the pension and retirement issues. So my pension and retirement grew substantially.
My ex-wife then came back asking for a huge amount of money from both sources of my retirement, including money that I had earned in a government retirement savings plan. Without stating the amount, I will say it was quite substantial.
My current wife and I met with Mr. Riddick, and after he explained his thoughts about how we should proceed, hired him the same day. It was clear that he understood the complexity of our case. My wife and I both felt totally comfortable with him, and he showed great compassion. I recall him even asking my wife would she stick by me through this situation. My wife said that she would.
Because of the COVID pandemic, our case was delayed for almost two years in the court system. During that time, we attended an Alternative Dispute Resolution meeting, and reached what we thought was a great resolution to the case.
Then my ex-wife tried to back out of the agreement. Mr. Riddick had to file a very complex motion to enforce the agreement, which had been oral. We actually had to have a difficult court hearing in the matter. After the trial, however, the court rendered a decision which ended the matter in our favor. As a result, I have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in my retirement accounts, and my current wife, if anything happens to me, will receive all of my retirement and survivor's benefits. My ex-wife no longer has any interest in any of my retirement benefits.
This was a fabulous outcome. And my wife and I were treated so well during the process. Great legal work and great treatment as clients.
I definitely recommend him.

If you are looking for a top caliber lawyer that is reasonable and understands her clients' needs, then Ms. Baker should be your top choice. I recently worked with Ms. Baker in the drafting, negotiation and execution of a pre-marital agreement; a situation that is often very difficult to navigate. She was responsive, extremely thorough and her zealous advocacy always took in to consideration the outcomes I desired.
As a fellow lawyer, I have experienced many situations in which zealous advocacy has served only to further frustrate relations and outcomes for clients. And while zealous advocacy is often intended to achieve the best result for the respective client, it can have the opposite effect and drive parties further apart.
Ms. Baker took the time to understand what I wanted and the results I sought to achieve. She was measured in her approach, and while her counsel always contemplated a best case scenario for me, it was balanced with an understanding of the outcomes I communicated to her I sought to achieve, irrespective of whether those outcomes were most advantageous to me.

I am a father of two kids and a project manager. My divorce was the first process in my life that I had no idea how to manage despite having a career working with people and two advanced degrees. My (then) wife simply dropped all communication and I could not get her to talk about the roadmap for separation and divorce even though we still lived under the same roof (and it was her idea). After being in this situation for over a year, I was getting depressed. I had consulted an attorney who had recommended me to just give my would-be-ex everything that she wanted.
Then I found Ms Moheyer's support group and it changed my life. Every other week, for years, she has led this call-in forum for fathers at different stages of their divorce situations - pro bono, as community service! That group gave me the knowledge of what's possible and the confidence to be able to move things forward. In addition, I took an online workshop (the best $100 spent in my life) and got the tips on establishing dialogue with the partner that leads to re-establishing the degree of mutual trust enough to complete the divorce. Several month later, we were able to nail down some bullet points that were appropriate for us and helped us avoid litigation.
We filed for mutual consent divorce with property separation and shared custody, and several more months later this was done. I still can't believe that in a matter of nine months, Ms Mohyer's support group and her workshop resources helped me get from a very dark place to personal freedom, stamped and approved by the court in MD.
I still attend the support group to discuss the challenges of co-parenting, and this experience is invaluable. Here is why I would recommend this attorney:
*she never pushes services on you. Instead, she lays out the options and I saved a lot by doing the things I had an option of doing the prep work by myself (like collecting some paperwork) that another attorney would have done at a handsome hourly rate).
*She uses psychology to provide tools that enable some kind of dialogue between parties, making the process less painful and less expensive.
I have recommended Ms Jennifer Moheyer to a number of friends, and now that my divorce is in the past and the "paper is dry", I hope someone in a similar situation (in DC, MD, VA) can get assistance.

Mike made sure that I did not feel like one of his many clients. I was preparing for my upcoming divorce and custody trial when my attorney fell sick and could not represent me anymore. Of course, I was frantic and had to find an attorney to learn about my case ASAP. Luckily, a friend recommended Mike Troy and I am glad she did. Mike was able to pick up my case as if he had been my attorney the whole time. He made me feel calm. After meeting him I did not doubt that he could handle my case. He advocated for me and I was able to obtain what I wanted, which was primary physical custody of my twin daughters and legal custody with me as an ultimate decision maker. My family and I were frantically looking for a lawyer to handle our case, to which we looked at our insurance policy and called the referenced list; of three lawyers, Inna was the only one who answered. Inna was very friendly from the moment she said "hello" and knowledgeable in the particular matter we had discussed. Inna provided suggestions, that were extremely helpful, and followed up promptly while working with our insurance company. During the few conversations held, Inna was attentively and patiently listening to the details of the situation. I worked with Sarah for over a year in the context of a divorce mediation, involving children. While not sure what to expect when we entered the process, it was something of a last ditch effort before resorting to litigation. Sarah could not have been more patient, impartial, dedicated, or understanding when it came to the special factors influencing our case. Amanda led the development of our application for permanent residency in the US at Oliver-Zhang Law after our marriage as a same-sex couple. Her attention to detail in organizing and tracking the volumes of information that we provided was outstanding, and her prompt and clear communication on each of our questions was a great comfort at each step of the process. In the past couple of years, I have had occasion to use Ms. Steinbach for a number of legal matters, most recently, to file a lawsuit against a builder for faulty construction and the resulting damages. She's very good at what she does -- knowledgeable about the law, driven, and very results-oriented. In addition to her knowledge and expertise, what most impresses me about Shirley is her professional demeanor and temperament. Lawyers who are all "fire and brimstone I-was-born-a-pitbull-and-will-fight-for-you (for an appropriate fee!)" are, in my experience, a dime-a-dozen (especially in DC), and often do more harm than good (polarizing/entrenching opposing sides, etc). Shirley takes the opposite approach. She's extremely level-headed and calm, even in highly contentious situations. In the litigation mentioned above, at the mediation phase, Shirley persuaded the builder to pay for over 90% of the costs of all the necessary repairs -- a far better outcome than I went into the proceedings expecting; there's no way we would have gotten to a positive outcome like this with a more contentious approach to the litigation strategy. Highly recommended.

I hired Byron for my 2017 divorce case and I am happy with his service. One of the main things that I look for in an attorney is responsiveness when I have questions, need feedback or assurance - and Byron replied to my text messages and emails usually within a day or two - and his responses were detailed and thorough. The next main thing I need in an attorney is reasonable fees, and this was also something that I received. Invoices make sense and are reasonable in terms of the explanations and break-down of what fees are actually for. I have had other attorneys in the past where this was not the case, so I have a perspective on this topic, and know what is, and what is not reasonable. The outcome in my divorce case was such that I can say I got most of the things that were important to me, so I was happy with the results that Byron provided for me. I also had a good prior understanding on what to expect based on the conversations that I had with Byron, there were no surprises or anything like that. First of all, I want to thank the people who gave an honest review about Attorney Bruce here on AVVO. My husband and I hired him because we trusted in your reviews, they were truly authentic reviews and you all did not disappoint us.
In 2021, after reading reviews from previous clients here, I gave Bruce a call. He was a very good listener and he asked the right questions that will lead to right results.
My husband and I needed a good and a straight forward immigration lawyer and through reviews we both agreed to choose Attorney Bruce and this was the best decision we made.
We started our immigration process with his guidance and provided him with all the documents he requested in December 2021. Bruce submit my paper work on January 2022. In 5 months I did get my work authorization. It was 2 years work authorization.
There was no communication from USCIS until 4 months into the expiration of the work authorization, we got a notification for RFE.(Request For Evidence)
So Bruce submit extra evidence to the already submitted ones. During these times I will be calling him. I remember during one of our conversation, he said to me, Joycelyn "the devil is in the details" so be patient and give me time to put the documents together and arrange them perfectly before we submit them. Indeed Bruce, you were absolutely right.
Everything was put together and he sent them out to USCIS. Two weeks later, we got a notification that my case was approved. The most amazing part was that, we never went for an interview and I was given 10 years Green Card. Just give Bruce the requested documents he will ask from you and he knows the right details to write together with the documents.
The experienced immigration lawyer matters when dealing with USCIS. Bruce is a very good listener, he responds to messages and phone calls regardless of his busy schedules.
Just like my husband and I trusted other clients reviews, please trust mine. I'm not a robot or a paid actress, everything I'm writing here is my experience with Bruce.
