As you can imagine, the legal matter comes with a huge frustration, a lot of stress and lots of unpleasant time. Sometimes, well most of the time, when we end up in this situation, we can be extremely rude and inpatient. Well, when it comes to hire someone to deal with your problems a lot of times lawyers just saying "ohh, well, don't be a silly jerk just sign it" however this approach is NOT acceptable, it is all about your life in a long time. I have been in that situation but i was lucky enough to find Deborah who isn't just helped me but also explained to me in very fine details all the implication of making one or other decision moving forward, she was so patient with me and helped me to make educated decision and not just a "whatever" approach. I'm so grateful that i have had such lawyer who helped me to deal with a craziness of our laws and next to nothing protection of me as a citizen. Attorney Laura Unflat is truly a compassionate professional! I was referred to her buy another attorney, if that doesn't say something nothing does. I have to say I could not be happier the way Laura handled my case. My case was not simple divorce lot of moving parts but she was very compassionate, and treats you like an equal not a client, which is not easy to find with attorneys. Divorce is not easy, but she reassures you when needed and had total compassion when it got tough. She is very professional, but tough when needed, she will not be pushed around.. She does not leave a box unturned she is on top of everything. I hired Laura to help with what was supposed to be a simple prenup; and through wacky twists and turns with a very difficult opposing attorney Laura was a steadfast advocate for me until it was completed. She very specifically figured out what was important to me, and was excellent at providing hypothetical situations to explain the implications of each provision. Her advice was thorough and backed up by examples from her experience.
As the agreement moved towards completion, and things got more contentious, I felt very comfortable when she would advocate directly with the other attorney because I knew she understood my interests and desires. She was very communicative with me and I felt well informed of each step. She was also very sensitive to and open about discussing billing when I had questions.
I highly recommend Laura Unflat for consultation for prenups, and if I ever have a family law need in the future, I will certainly call on her again.

She is a lovely person as a human being, and as a lawyer is a no-nonsense, hard-hitting professional with the skills to bring together Massachusetts marital law with the psychological aspects of divorce.
Due to the previous circumstances of my marriage, I was facing a twelve-year alimony liability that would have been financially disastrous for me, and would have prevented me from making a new start. Paula weaved together an astonishingly favorable settlement agreement that saved me tens of thousands of dollars, through courteous and efficient negotiations with the other side, even factoring in overseas jurisdictions, due to some of my assets being in Europe. She drafted depositions and related court documents that helped my case enormously, and represented my interests in the courtroom with aplomb; the courts were at the time Zoom-only due to COVID. I found myself in need of a divorce lawyer. A friend recommended me their attorney. My divorce was not going to be typical. I had two boys that were 6 and 3 and their mom was not in a grounded place. I needed to have custody. I had to hold things together. It was not promising. Dads did not fair well in 1999 regarding custody.
After a number of meetings it was clear that there was going to be trial. My attorney had a vacation planned and she had to bring in a partner. Enter Paula Berg.
In under an hour Paula told me a few basic things that I could rely on when testifying at trial. She was honest, and that does not always mean what I want to hear. She told me that I had the right lawyer and that I had to do exactly what I was told, because we were a team. She explained that dads do not typically get custody, and she followed that up with "so what, I do not have a problem going against the odds". She is a kind, warm person, but that is not how I would describe her professionally. Paula is very no nonsense, direct, and she knows the law. She knows what judges need to do their job. That is worth reading twice. I have referred Paula to a few friends, which also resulted in success. Again, pick the right lawyer and do exactly what she says. She is the right lawyer.

I highly recommend attorney Furman. He handled my daughter's case carefully and confidently. He spent nearly two hours with us in person after an initial phone consultation. He treated my 14 year old with respect and established a report with her that was truly remarkable. He helped her (and me) understand the process and what to expect. He answered all of our questions; at no point did I ever feel like he was in a rush to get to his next case. He kept us informed every step of the way.
Attorney Furman was passionate about my daughter's case, and did an excellent job advocating for her. The result was a favorable ruling in the case. When all was said and done, I found the cost to be extremely reasonable. There were no overstated hours charged, no unnecessary expenses. I would gladly have paid 3 or 4 times the fee for the level of service Attorney Furman provided us.

After meeting with a few divorce lawyers I was left with a cold feeling. I felt they didn't care about my case unless i was paying them. I met with Sandy and he was very informative. He pointed out things in my first Separation Agreement draft that my ex wife's lawyer drew up didn't protect me. I hired him on the spot. I am so pleased to share my feedback about Michelle Breckenridge.
In late 2017, I was served papers by my ex-wife, as she sought to remove my parenting time and increase my child support. Until meeting Michelle, I was not receiving the legal representation that was suitable for this highly contentious situation. After my initial consultation with Michelle, I quickly realized that I needed to hire her to represent me, thus removing my former attorney. Michelle made this transition simple and easy for me! Moreover, she negotiated an updated agreement that was extremely fair for all parties. She was even able to gain resolution on unfavorable & unfair terms from the initial divorce settlement!

It was supposed to be an amicable divorce initiated by my ex-wife. It became clear that she wanted to set the financial terms based on what she thought was right. David was always calm and took some of the emotional elements out of the mix and focused me on the real terms. He was nonetheless a good listener and showed empathy while guiding me through the legal process.
He shared with me some of facts he would have presented to a judge had the amicable process gone awry. But all in all David worked hard at moving a difficult process through to its conclusion with minimal acrimony.
If you are looking to grind an axe I don't think he is the guy for you!
Otherwise I would highly recommend him to anyone going through the inherently difficult and emotional challenging process of ending a union while minimizing the collateral damages. He will make the tough journey that much easier. He is really a good guy and a good attorney!

Vicki Shemin and Jonathan Fields represented me for a simple divorce. It was a short-term marriage with no children. No discovery was done and we only appeared in Court twice, once for a motion hearing and again to present a full settlement agreement. The emergency motion was filed by my ex-husband and only necessary due to Attorney Shemim’s advice for me to change the locks to our former marital home. This was an action I wouldn’t have taken otherwise, ultimately escalated the amount of animosity in the case and the judge disapprovingly viewed as a form of self-help.
Somehow this all amounted to attorney’s fees exceeding $82,000, the last $19,000 or so I am being repeatedly hounded for while several requests to discuss my billing continue to be ignored. Their paralegal has an hourly rate comparable to what many firms charge for a mid-level associate, and over billed for simple administrative tasks (i.e. two hours to divide the numbers on my biweekly paycheck in half). This was not a high-net worth case, there were no unusual or extraordinary issues to be dealt with, and the total amount billed for a matter that was resolved in less than a year actually exceeded the amount I received as a settlement. I would have ended up in a better position financially if I didn’t have counsel at all. I ended up negotiating the final terms of the settlement directly with my ex anyway.
Perhaps this firm is great for those who are extremely wealthy where the total amount of legal fees is of no concern, but for anyone like myself, making a living as an RN, expect to pay top-notch prices while consistently being treated as a low-priority client. There are certainly better options out there.

While on a local news z podcast attorney Roman has blatantly lied, she while working the Read court case made a claim that another reporter was given a brand new Lexus by Karen Reads bro to pursued his follower’s along with a prospective jurors? By this Tim the state police etc. went through Kearneys bank statements etc and it was proved the reporter bought Veh. himself! Jennifer comes in full throttle making unfounded & harmful accusations against the other side that may yield initial results, but as proceedings continue and trial arrives she loses stamina. She may prepare great motions, or, hold a thorough deposition, yet she lacks not her preparation, but being able to read the judge, courtroom and overall direction at that moment. I don't believe she understands her client's weaknesses is happy to take their money and simply focuses on their desires, I find this approach to be a recipe for a let down client. Of course talented but also lacking in being able to think on her feet. A GREAT attorney prepares but can also switch gears at crucial times as a result of the natural unpredictability in the court room-I found this element hugely lacking. She also struggles to rise to the respectful unspoken interaction with other members against the bar and shows emotions in what I believe to be an unprofessional way.

Jenny knows the law, will stand up for you when confronted with strong-arm tactics but will also negotiate when a deal is possible, listens to you but will also give you frank advice. During three years of a contentious divorce, I saw Jenny deal effectively with four different attorneys on the other side, all with very different styles.
She makes herself available when you need her and is always well prepared for mediation, a hearing, or trial. But she’s also efficient, getting things done quickly, being careful about the money you, her client, are paying. You’re left wondering where she finds the time to prepare as she does, but I see from the other reviews that she consistently provides this level of service.

She was hired by my ex and defended him, an abuser who threatened our children’s therapists over and over and blocked their ability to go when their mental health suffered.. all Sheila could think about was winning. Well she lost the trial, I had testimony from the therapists, and She lost most hearings .for that matter. I always got what I wanted but she had to put us through hearing after hearing. My kids suffered from the stress. Now My adult kids suffer emotionally. due to her defending an abuser and being denied therapy ,rather than refusing a client who is a child abuser. And enabling him. .For 25 hearings ,she defended his abuse. Over 15 years. Not sure how she sleeps at night. My adult kids emotional state have now been impacted by this. I imagine what my kids emotional state would be if she refused his multiple frivolous claims and had the professionalism and character to manage her client and do what was in the best interest of our kids. And she abused me as well ,so buyer beware of the emotional state of a person like this. Divorce doesn’t have to be war. With Sheila it will be.

I was represented by Fields and Dennis in my divorce. To say I was disappointed with my representation would be a gross understatement. In addition to getting a settlement that heavily favored my ex, the amount I was charged for representation in a divorce that included no children and no real estate seemed extremely high to me. To be fair, this was partially my fault as twice during the process I considered changing attorneys but did not do so, which I really regret. I did send them a letter telling them how I felt and asking for an explanation on why I wasn’t told that this is what a typical divorce would cost, or why my divorce was not typical. I sent the letter with my final payment so I know they received it. That was 18 months ago, I expect their response any day now!
