Divorce time is one of the harder time you can have. Is almost impossible to fight alone. My case was more than 2 years. Hiring a Lawyer is a must. without knowledge you will finish making a lot of mistake against yourself that in the long run is going to cost you and affect you triple or more. How you going to end is proportional direct to who you hire to do this job. Attorney Guarino from the very beginning turn my situation upside down in my favor. and keep it like this, one step at the time getting better up to the end. She really knows when is the right time to do each movement. And the best I didn't cost me a fortune that other firm quotes for me. My ex wants from beginning a long list. she try the home, she want 5000 $ a month lifetime for alimony, Full custody of my two daughters, of course child support, all the family assets, she want me to pay her lawyer fees, and all family liabilities , if this is not enough, My ex also wants uncalculated amount from my employer , something like 200 thousand. LOL. now this is funny, because Ileana Guarino make ashes everything she ask. But I literally try suicide, before I hire her It was hard to meet my own daughters, and my ex was planning as soon as I live the home bring her boyfriend in the house and make me pay for the home. JAJAJAJA, never happens . Ileana Guarino, detailed guide me step by step how to straight everything on . in a matter of 2 months we put law in action and my ex has to stop her behavior. my daughters wasn't afraid of her mom anymore and consider not to take sides anymore, she proof very easy to judge extra income my ex has and I didn't pay anything she wants. the battle continue at the pointe I almost loose my job, but the pressure she put on the deposition she make to my ex was so hard, that we all finish with headed, but was worth it. she make so much discovery that this case was easy to win. My ex has not choice to settle for what I ask. Thank Attorney Guarino I didn't finish how usually anybody in my case regularly ends. Is hard to describe this lawyer in one word, she always has some alternative to resole every problem. ands is amazing how easy she get rid of them. The home was sold, no money for my ex, alimony was so low that is easier to say , there was not alimony, My ex was impose to pay herself her lawyers fees, parenting plan was 50/50 every other week, and child support is a table, not one can change that. I feel so happy and secure, because the knowledge she give me allow me to be confident in my post divorce live, that my ex can not come back anymore for bite me again.

I hired another attorney several years ago to handle my divorce and subsequent modification...I wish I had heard of Evan back then!! Upon first meeting with him, he listened carefully to why I needed help from a professional. He never rushed me into hiring him or making a decision, in fact he suggested I wait and handle a few other personal and more important issues first. He advised me as if I were a friend and not a paying client. His team also treated me with professionalism and handled all my questions with priority and urgency. Evan was always a straight shooter with me. He was clearly interested in doing what was best for me and my family, and not his bank account. We were able to reach a settlement when I truly thought it would never happen. I can't thank him enough for his help in this case.

Mr.Baron is a top notch attorney. He is extremely knowledgeable about the law and helps to guide you in the right direction to get the most favorable result in your case. I consulted with him and few weeks ago about modifying a meditation agreement I had. So far, its going good and I hope to repost back soon with the winning case results. I wish knew this great lawyer, 2 attorneys ago, for retaining. Without I doubt know, I would have been a big winner if I did. Please retained attorney Baron, you will be getting the best and you wouldn't have any regrets. The other reviews from others at aavo speaks for itself.

Evan is the best attorney I have ever met. A fair and realistic guy. He tells it like it is and doesn't try to paint an unrealistic picture. He fought when that was appropriate and he negotiated when that was in my best interest. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing counsel on a family law matter.

Three other lawyers worked on my case before I came to Ms. Prado. Thankfully, she knew how to handle the alimony, child support, and distribution of assets without dragging the case on like my previous attorneys. I was extremely frustrated with the entire court process before I came to her. She simplified the issues and brought the case to a close within the time frame she estimated.

Full disclosure, the attorney you are reading this review about just happens to be my husband. I have consulted with him, effectively hiring him to do anything and everything legal, financial, real estate related and otherwise. This is not a "please consider my husband" testimonial, but rather a synopsis from a former practicing attorney in the field with an objective view as it relates to the kinds of deals Jason Kapit handles. I know firsthand how difficult real estate transactions can be. Having practiced family law for almost a decade, much of the focus was concentrated around the division of assets, ultimately requiring the household residence to be sold. Having Jason Kapit handle these types of sensitive deals, with not only a keen understanding of real estate but also a legal perspective (contract language, negotiation), especially in the fraud-filled South Florida environment, was a welcomed sigh of relief for clients who were emotionally drained during such an arduous process. There is no shortage of Real Estate agents, but having an agent such as Jason Kapit, with this unique background is a major benefit to many clients I have represented in the past and it only stands to reason that any home buyer or seller would be hard-pressed to find someone comparable when it comes to assisting in residential real estate sales.

Dell & Schaefer are great at what they do but CLIENTS BEWARE! You could be making a deal with the Devil. Their great work comes at a great price. And they will not care about the peanuts they leave you with. All of those positive outcomes...they are NOT for the benefit of YOU. It's to fill their bank accounts. Be aware these disabilty firms can and will work in tandem with the insurance companies to help line each other's pockets. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these 5 star reviews were AI generated. Stephen Jessup was on my case. He was a superb lawyer and we had a great client relationship. He was initially very responsive and supportive. I was told their fee was going to be one amount since I was engaging them early before an appeal was needed. But the entire dynamic changed when it came time for the "switcheroo". Once Operation Fee Increase started, he didn't have any further words for me until I fired his firm. They allowed my claim to go into denial and waited to the very last minute to act. I was without income for 6 MONTHS as the head of my household. Once they got me back on claim and had my extra-large back pay check in hand, they made me agree to a higher percentage before they would release my money. This, my friend, can be considered "undue influence". I had already been paying them a year to do nothing but MANAGE my claim. Which I had to intervene a couple times to do myself. Plus, I repaid all costs and expenses they incurred. I was ready to pay the initial percentage for claim maintenance again but they increased it by 150%!! They were taking out more than I paid in rent. And this is supposed to go on FOREVER with no caps!!!! Once I found out how they misrepresented their unethically excessive fees, I terminated their representation. Their "legalese" makes you think they can lawfully collect astronomical amounts from your disability benefits - past, present, and future. Even fees from benefits they do not help you with such as social security. Don't believe the hype. All contracts are NOT enforceable. And this firm will try to enforce their fee agreement by any means necessary - legal or illegal....lawful or unlawful. I was taken advantage of in one of my most vulnerable states health-wise, emotionally and financially. You're already being beat down and bullied by the insurance companies. And Dell & Schaefer are counting on you to feel that "something will be better than nothing". Just because a lawyer says it, doesn't make it true. There are attorneys who will lie, defraud, and misrepresent facts just like anyone else. Simply to take your money. Do your due diligence. Read your fee agreement carefully and calculate its true cost. Don't be afraid to challenge or report what you feel is unjust. Attorneys are NOT untouchable. And remember, these agreements are negotiable. If you can't get terms you are comfortable with, move on to another firm. You have powers and protections in these devilish deals. Have the contract looked at by a different attorney and ask your state's Bar association if this fee structure is ethical. If you did make the mistake of signing with this firm, familiarize yourself with power of attorneys, excessive attorney fee's, liens, judgements, what constitutes a "lawsuit" and illegal garnishments. You'll thank me later. Good Luck, Godspeed and I wish you much strength, wisdom, and favor in your decision to work with this firm. I, personally, 10 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

I contacted Dell Disability Lawyers shortly after I was denied Long Term Disability from my previous employment. Stephen Jessup and his team were unbelievable in helping me understand the process of sharing my disability. Over the time, which moved quickly IMO, the whole team stayed in contact with me and worked with my cognitive challenges with email replies. Each email they sent me was easy to understand and helped pull me along the process. Overall, the award and the care from the team was more than I ever knew would happen for a case like mine. I felt seen and I felt helped. I highly recommend Dell Disability Lawyers for your case. Thank you team!

Anthony Genove is a great Attorney and has a great team working for him, I would even go as far as to say he is one of the best in south Florida. A lot of Attorneys say they care about you but Anthony dose, he may not be able to take you call right then and there but he will call you back in a timely manner. My case dragged on for over four years and Anthony was there all the way to the end, there are many time we would talk about my case till late at night going over all the things we need to do. Unlike some Attorneys Anthony will keep you informed on what's going on with your case and he will tell you the truth about your case good or bad. There is not enough great things I can say about Anthony you can trust him to do right

“I had the worst Representation experience from Alan, he made me feel confident that he would file paperwork for my Non-Profit organization which was intended to formed in order for my team to start the necessary steps legally in giving back since we had already started with our mission. Alan did not once do what he said with attaining our Non-For-Profit status instead I paid this unprofessional man $500 to file an LLC. What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.
  • Enforcing court orders: Helping you enforce court orders related to child support, alimony, or custody if the other party fails to comply.
  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
