I was in a not-at-fault auto accident in Colorado Springs, where I was rear-ended, and my car was totaled. After speaking with Mr. Clawson, I retained him as my attorney. Mr. Clawson and his team were courteous and professional and provided exceptional representation. I received a settlement more significant than I could have imagined. I highly recommend the Clawson Team for any bodily injury accident claim! The free initial consultation was also helpful! Thank you.

I highly recommend Clawson & Clawson! Mr. Clawson and the whole team were so helpful, understanding, and knew exactly how to get things done as related to my automobile accident. My medical bills added up quickly, and I never thought they would all be covered, let alone get money for me. I was amazed at the outcome. I received the best medical treatment, and my  expenses were covered.   I received more than I ever hoped to cover future needs. Thank you, Mr. Clawson!

Tami Mitchell is a life saver!!! I can say that because she saved my life. I was falsely accused of numerous accounts of sexual assault in the military. I went to a courts-martial and was found guilty of several counts. Tami came recommended to handle my appeal. Once I spoke to her, I knew she was the lawyer for me. She read through the 1500+ page record of trial and presented a strong case for overturning my convictions. 18 months later, Tami’s excellent work paid off and my sexual assault convictions were overturned for factual insufficiency, which is the equivalent of an acquittal. I was able to get off the sex offender registration list. My initial wrongful convictions caused additional legal issues for me, but Tami remained by my side each step of the way, assisting my appointed military counsel and other attorneys who were not familiar with the military justice process. Finally, after more than 5 years since my wrongful convictions, my family and I can finally get a good night's sleep, knowing our ordeal has finally concluded with positive results. Tami's fees are very reasonable; she is worth every penny. Not only is Tami a great lawyer, she is a great person. As you can imagine, my life has been very stressful during this period. Tami was always available to talk, and she took the time to explain things to me in detail so that I understood. She is very direct, realistic, and doesn't sugar-coat things, but she is also empathetic and goes the extra mile to connect with her clients on a human level. She also communicated with my family members and helped them understand the processes. She presented the humanity of my case, and my humanity, in a persuasive manner to those who would not otherwise consider someone like me a "victim"--a victim of false accusations. Hiring an attorney is an investment in yourself and your future. If you believe you deserve the best (and you do), then Tami is the attorney for you. She gives you hope when your case seems hopeless. If you are ever in a situation where you've been accused of sexual assault, I wholeheartedly recommend you contact Tami Mitchell. I would not want anyone else in my corner. Wrongly Convicted, Finally Vindicated, Naval Officer

Michael is a great attorney. He helped me when two other lawyers had failed. He was thorough and we beat the State of Colorado Department of Revenue. He was competent and patient. He knows the rules of engagement and helps interpret the laws that assist in your case. He is the expert or becomes the expert through research to specifically apply to your case. He schooled the DA on my Appeal.

As a former client, I was extremely fortunate to hire Mr. Harris and found him to be a phenomenal attorney. His knowledge, professionalism and abilities allowed him to get an outstanding result for me in cases that were convoluted between civil, criminal and military issues. It even led to the courts in Colorado ruling in a way that is not customary. My experience with Wes, started when I had been placed on administrative leave while serving as a Civilian Government employee. The reason was due to a positive urinalysis for marijuana. I was searching for an attorney that could assist me in my defense and the one I contacted directed me to Wes. I met him in his office, we discussed my situation, which was dire, because of the stigma that marijuana has with the government. I told him that I had not knowingly used and that I believed that I had somehow been exposed while at a birthday party at a friend’s house. This is what I also told my leadership at the time and they flat out did not believe me. The government’s view was that I was guilty and did not deserve a chance to prove it. I appealed my proposed removal to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). Which is in place to hear and decide discrepancies for government employees. This process is lengthy and does not move quickly. While awaiting my appeal, I was removed from my position and had to find other employment while my case moved through system. Wes was there with me 100%. We stayed in constant contact, and he allowed me to assist in my own defense. We both researched case law that would support my defense. He did not dismiss my attempts to assist in my defense but welcomed it. We both knew that we were in an uphill battle against the government and that chances were slim that we would be successful. He in no way disillusioned me or gave me false hope that we would come out victorious but he did work hard mounting a defense that we could bring forth in court. I keep saying we because he made me feel that I was not alone in my battle and that I was a part of my defense. He never pressured me about payment, and we work out an amicable fee, that I could afford based on my financial situation. When the time came to appear in court, Wes was very prepared and ensure that I was also prepared for the assault that the government would launch against my past, my career and my integrity. It was determined that my case was the first case in Colorado concerning a Civilian government employee accused of illegally using marijuana. With the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, we knew that this would be an uphill battle, but Wes had done some outstanding research and we were as prepared as we could possibly be. He presented our case to the Administrative Judge, and we won! As a result, I was awarded full restoration to my position, back pay, and attorney’s fees based on the Judge’s decision. The argument that Wes presented forced the government to change their regulation concerning the charging of civilians for misuse of illegal substances. If you are looking for an attorney that will be upfront with you and go to the mat for you, Wes is the attorney that you want. He is relentless in his defense of his clients and will do everything possible to ensure that you are “defended.” He saved my career, and afforded me an opportunity to move forward with my life. Wes McConnell, is an attorney that will “be there” for you!

I was facing 11 yrs in a military court. Almost everyone on my installation and my unit was against due to lies and rumors, no one knew the facts. I didn't feel comfortable with my attorney given to me by the military(Because of lack of experience). I called around and I was running into lawyers who wanted $100 just to talk to me and give me a quote. I had one law firm say I would need to pay $10,000 and another $10,000 before trail. I was overwhelmed with stress. Then I was referred to Wes by another law firm who I initially contacted. The first time I called him he made me feel completely comfortable, It was clear he wasn't all about money. We met face to face at my house talked about my case to see if he could help me. He told me he didn't want me to waste my money if he could not help me, that is the first time I have ever heard that from a lawyer. Even though he said I had a good case, I knew right then weather he could help me or not I was going to hire him based off integrity alone. we came to agreement on cost for his services and he started right away. he questioned every one, He never stopped even the days leading up to my trial he continued to get more beneficial things to help me win my case. for a little over a year I called him and texted him everyday, he returned every single text and call. He never seemed like he was annoyed with me, he always had a great attitude. He answer my same questions over and over giving explanations making sure I understood what was going on every step of the way. If he not sure of something he will get the best person capable. I had experts coming from different states to help. In the end charges were dismissed I get to continue with my military career. my biggest regret was not calling him sooner, while I was being investigated. If you get Wes to represent you he will give you 110% he will be doing more than what you are paying him for. he will be thinking about your case late at night texting you calling you, he makes you feel like he is only working for you and has no other cases on his plate. He also represented me on a child custody case which came out good because he talked to me and the mother of my son we reached agreements because we sat in his office and talked and we are doing great still almost a year later. You will never find a better lawyer or person to represent you. Id just like to say I can never thank him enough, I hope to never have to call him for legal troubles again. But if I do need legal representation, I will call him first without hesitation. He is one of the best lawyer I have ever met, Now I consider him a friend.

Pueblo PD arrested me and hit me with a litany of firearms and burglary charges that I absolutely did not commit. All the charges added up to over 20 years in prison if convicted. I bonded out and called Rodemer and Kane immediately. With their help, 6 months later they dropped the charges and plead down to a criminal trespass. 6 months probation and a little community service. Hopefully I never need an attorney again, but if I did, I will be hiring them again

I was in a situation of having to cold call attorneys 10 states away and I was very uncertain about any groups as I really didn't have a way to get referrals from any one about their experience, but I got lucky and obtained the services of the Business Law Group - with attorney Mason Simpson. Boy did I get lucky. Mason, while having experience with large corporations, mega wealthy, influential people come to find out later, he never made me feel as if my issue was small or that I wasn't worth his time. He limited attorney time/fees the best he could and continued to update me on developments and worked with other co-defendants even making great suggestions to the judge when we were in a situation that ended up in mediation. He's a brilliant guy but doesn't mind watering things down to the regular person. I also felt something that it not necessarily in the legal system - and that is he wasn't into gamesmanship but rather did what was "right". I highly recommend him to anyone without reservation and I know that Colorado Springs has no idea the gem that plopped back there after a long stint in New York City. Hopefully I won't be in need of an attorney again (especially 10 states away), but if I did, I would hire Mason Simpson again - his paralegal and folks at his firm were also professional, helpful and did their jobs with excellence.

I cant stress enough the phenomenal work Mr. Lance Wood put into helping me with my case. I was accused of Domestic violence and strangulation. Mr wood thoroughly examined the half hearted attempt at an investigation on the military’s side, and one sided review of an allegation with no support. Mr. Wood was always available when i would call or text even with the dilemma of being hours apart in different time zones. As nerve racking as my administration separation board was, Mr. Woods confidence and knowledge of regulation shut down multiple attempts at a flawed attempt to bring detriment to my character. Mr. Woods hard work and commitment resulted in a unanimous decision among the board members for retention in the Army, and unfounded accusations. The efforts and work Mr. Wood put in to achieve this outcome has drastically affected my life, I can move on with my career and continue to lead soldiers and be in my career field Im passionate about. I will be forever grateful that he removed a heavy weight from my shoulders, this career means everything to me and Mr. Wood could see that. And i could clearly see that Mr. Wood was passionate about his career field and proving and ensuring the justice system was not just a check the block system. I would recommend this counsel under any circumstances.

I am writing this the day after being acquitted. I feel that I owe a thorough review to give the you the most transparent information. 1. Stages when charges were preferred: I spoke with many attorneys, but Lance stood out from the rest. He was easy to talk to, easy to get a hold of, I could text him directly and he would promptly respond, he was willing to offer useful insight without charging a dime. I did not immediately hire Lance because the preliminary hearing had went in my favor. 2. Preliminary hearing is NOT binding: because of the prelim going well I did not seek counsel and stayed with TDS. What I was not aware of was that the convening authority ignored the preliminary hearing officer’s determination and proceeded with a general court martial. 3. TDS: trial defense counsel absolutely care about you, however their abilities to create a strong case for you is extremely limited. They are often less experienced than the prosecution and can be intimated by the judge. They often have to request permission from the government to produce witnesses, experts, etc. which they almost always will deny unless it benefits their case against you. 4. Pre-motions hearing: because the government will deny everything, your TDS will likely have to compel the judge to make the government agree to your requests. This is where I got to watch my TDS awkwardly stumble through cross examination and convince the judge of literally nothing. I felt sorry for them and it was my case. 5. After the hearing it became extremely evident I was going to lose my trial and potentially face 3 years confinement, bad conduct discharge and affect my abilities to be a father. My TDS was sympathetic, but already felt defeated. 6. Why does any of this matter and how does this relate to Lance? After leaving the TDS office, I called military trial defenders and Lance got a hold of me later that day. He filed a motion of entry and from the moment he began representing me there was a significant shift from the government. Suddenly they became cooperative, were willing to talk to Lance and agree on stipulations. No more games, no more dodging TDS calls. 7. At this stage I got to watch Lance slowly and methodically lock the government into a very tight arena. 8. Trial: we went with a panel (jury) over judge alone. Lance is extremely good at attention to detail during jury selection. This is often an underrated process that is crucial when deliberation comes. After jury selection opening statements, witnesses, exhibits and instructions for the panel. what I noticed was the the panel was very reciprocal of Lance, they were very engaged when he spoke and would often nod and passively agree with his arguments. The judge was also very positive to Lance. The judge agreed to all of Lance’s arguments of stipulation and instructions over the governments because he was better able to articulate it. Lastly, even the prosecutors would often try to get lance’s attention and try to joke with him. Lance was respectful and stayed focused. “We’re just going to object to everything, this is what we do” the prosecutor laughed. He knew he was losing. Bad. 9. Lance is willing to call you the stand if it makes sense. He will prepare you and produce a very limited scope to which the government can cross examine. You still have to be mindful, but Lance will absolutely set you up for success on the stand. The panel is EXTREMELY engaged When the accused takes the stand. 9. Closing arguments. This was the only time the prosecution put on a strong show. But even then, Lance is phenomenal at closing arguments. There are many other reviews to support this. I cannot stress enough how crucial a strong closing argument is. It is the last thing the panel gets before deliberation. It is the freshest content on their mind and is the final tip to your case. 10. Deliberation. From the very beginning to the end. Lance was always at a 100%. The panel made a determination within 10 minutes and the verdict was not guilty. Thank you Lance. I owe my freedom to you.

Bridgett Has been great and very helpful with my cases (custody and child support). I had little hope fighting a gender biased system typically favorable of women, but after quite some time things have worked out well considering. Unfortunately sometimes individuals have a biased view such as Sherri kowaleski, and I’m sure many others who never retained Harrison law firm, just aren’t pleased with the outcome of the cases they were on the opposite end of. Leaving a bad review for someone you’ve never hired is distasteful and irrelevant. Services rendered have been helpful to myself and my family and I will continue to have this firm on retainer for the foreseeable future.

He did not do anything I hired him for and made the excuse that he was too busy and did not have an assistant. He’s always had an excuse; meanwhile, I went with out proper legal representation.

Hired Frank to work my appeals because he came recommended from my defense attorney. I think he is worn out and no longer motivated. He failed me, did not communicate with me at all, especially in the end when my appeal was denied, he dropped all communication and didnt have the decency to call me to discuss. Not impressed with his effort at all. Waste of money and a waste of time. Please spend more money on a lawyer who has gumption. Frank Spinner does not.

Brad Miller has been extremely disrespectful to a friend of mine over an educational matter, and also appears to have a limited grasp of the English vocabulary. Perseveration does not mean the same as perseverance, Brad.

What a Government Lawyer Can Do for You

A government lawyer specializes in legal issues related to government policies, regulations, and disputes involving public entities. Whether you are a private individual, business, or government agency, a government lawyer provides expert guidance on navigating the complexities of government law. These attorneys handle cases ranging from constitutional law, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and government contracts to defending or challenging government actions.

Government lawyers help individuals and organizations understand their rights and obligations under the law, represent them in disputes with government agencies, and assist in matters of government contracting, procurement, or public policy.

When Should I Hire a Government Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a government lawyer in several situations involving government regulations, compliance, or disputes. Common reasons to hire a government lawyer include:

  • Government contracts and procurement: If you are bidding for or negotiating a contract with a government agency, a lawyer can help ensure compliance with federal, state, or local contracting rules.
  • Regulatory compliance: Businesses operating in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, environmental sectors) often need legal guidance to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties.
  • Government investigations: If you're being investigated by a government agency such as the IRS, SEC, or EPA, a government lawyer can help defend you against allegations or negotiate settlements.
  • Challenging government actions: If a government agency has denied a permit, license, or benefit, a lawyer can help you appeal or challenge the decision in court.
  • Constitutional and civil rights issues: If you believe your constitutional rights have been violated by a government entity, such as in cases involving free speech or discrimination, a government lawyer can help you seek justice.
  • Public policy or lobbying efforts: If you are involved in lobbying or advocating for policy changes at the local, state, or federal level, a government lawyer can provide legal advice on compliance with lobbying laws and strategies for effective advocacy.

Hiring a government lawyer early in the process can help you navigate complex legal frameworks and avoid costly mistakes when dealing with government-related legal issues.

What Does a Government Lawyer Do?

A government lawyer provides a wide range of services that cover interactions between individuals, businesses, and government entities. They can:

  • Assist with government contracts: Helping clients navigate procurement laws, drafting contracts, and resolving disputes related to government contracting.
  • Provide regulatory compliance advice: Offering guidance on meeting regulatory requirements for industries subject to federal, state, or local laws.
  • Handle administrative law matters: Representing clients before government agencies, such as appealing administrative decisions, applying for permits, or defending against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Challenge or defend government actions: Representing clients in lawsuits involving government agencies, including constitutional challenges, civil rights violations, or disputes over government decisions.
  • Negotiate settlements with government entities: If a government agency is pursuing legal action against you or your business, a lawyer can negotiate settlements to avoid costly litigation.
  • Advocate for policy changes: Advising clients on legal strategies for influencing public policy, including lobbying and drafting legislation.
  • Litigate constitutional issues: Handling cases related to the Constitution, such as First Amendment rights, due process violations, or unlawful government actions.

How Are Government Lawyers Paid?

Government lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the nature of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: For ongoing legal matters, such as regulatory compliance or government contract disputes, lawyers may charge by the hour. Hourly rates can vary depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as drafting a government contract or filing an administrative appeal, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For clients who need ongoing legal support, such as businesses frequently interacting with government agencies, a lawyer may charge a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases involving litigation, such as civil rights violations, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Government Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a government lawyer depends on the complexity of the legal issue, the lawyer's experience, and their fee structure. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Hourly rates: Government lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For specific legal services, such as drafting a government contract, flat fees can range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the nature of the service.
  • Retainer fees: A retainer for ongoing legal work with government agencies can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the scope and frequency of the work.
  • Contingency fees: In cases where a lawyer works on contingency, their fee is usually a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or damages awarded if the case is successful.

Be sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your consultation to ensure that you understand the fees associated with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Government Lawyer

When hiring a government lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed for your specific situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What is your experience with government law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has substantial experience in handling cases or issues involving government agencies, regulatory compliance, or constitutional law.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services - whether by the hour, flat fee, retainer, or contingency fee - and request an estimate of costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your legal options and the likelihood of success based on your specific situation.
  4. How do you handle interactions with government agencies?
Ask about their approach to dealing with government entities and their experience with specific agencies relevant to your case (e.g., IRS, EPA, SEC).
  5. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Ask about their experience with similar cases and whether they have achieved favorable outcomes in the past.
  6. Who will handle my case?
Clarify whether the lawyer you are meeting with will personally handle your case or whether junior attorneys or paralegals will do most of the work.

How to Check the Credibility of a Government Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable government lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Review their professional experience: Look for specific experience in government-related legal issues, such as regulatory compliance, government contracts, or administrative law, on their website or professional profile.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check online reviews and ratings on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s reputation and track record.
  • Ask for references: Request references from previous clients who have worked with the lawyer on government-related matters to understand their experience and effectiveness.
  • Check for membership in relevant organizations: Look for memberships in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association's Administrative Law Section or the National Institute of Government Procurement, which can indicate the lawyer’s focus on government law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a government lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed description of your legal issue: Be prepared to explain your situation, whether it’s a regulatory compliance question, a government contract issue, or a dispute with a government agency.
  • Relevant documents: Bring any paperwork related to your case, such as contracts, permits, letters from government agencies, or notices of investigation.
  • A list of questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, including the legal process, potential outcomes, and costs.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any relevant events, such as the issuance of government orders or interactions with government agencies.
  • Goals for the outcome: Be ready to discuss what you hope to achieve, whether it’s a favorable settlement, regulatory compliance, or overturning a government decision.

By being organized and prepared, you can help your lawyer understand your situation more quickly and give you the best legal advice moving forward.
