I hired Sol Kim years ago for my case that just ended not too long ago, but his practice area was little different from my case.He didn't care. He helped me as a translator, found another lawyer for me to work with, and they both worked tirelessly for years. Sol Kim was a very detailed person. He kept me up-to-date with the case and provided me with options. I knew little to nothing about the laws related to the situation I was in, only laws, evidences, and my lawyers were at my side, I was emotionally troubled for months and years, and he helped me to calm me down. At last, I can't thank him and recommend him enough for all his hard works he has done.

We had documents that ha to be translated from Korean to English, then all of the documents sent to the secretary of state for Apostilles on all the notarized pages. He managed to get it done in less than four days and called me that they were ready which was excellent. Meaning that we were way under the dead line for them to be filled in S. Korea. Mr Kim is very efficient and pleasant to deal with!! Leo

Sol helped me with my citizenship process and I highly recommend him. He helped me complete all my forms accurately and explained to me every step that was taken in my case. Knowing that Sol was in charge of my case made me feel at ease the entire time. He provided me with all the information I needed to successfully complete my formal interview. I felt free to ask questions that he would answer timely. With his knowledge and expertise, he helped me achieve a huge milestone in my life; becoming a US citizen.

This law firm was by far the most informative during the inquiring stages, gave the most helpful advice as well as wasn't trying to run me around in circles. Once I actually took this firm as my representatives, not only were they flexible with the payment plans, but they gave me the best possible outcome with the least amount of effort from my side, Mr Rob Terrell really is a miracle worker!

Knowledgeable, caring, honest and very professional, always going above and beyond. Murad is the kind of attorney that will work diligently on getting any issues resolved. After a couple of years of frustration with other attorneys, he was the only one who knew how to handle our daughter's case (difficult international adoption case), he told us at the beginning it was not going to be easy and all through the case he kept us informed, he was available and answered all of our inquiries with care and professionalism. We highly recommend Murad for your immigration case.

Miriam has been a pleasure to work with. She kept me up to date on everything every step of the way. You can tell she is genuinely concerned with helping people. I liked the personal care I received. Unlike many other law firms I contacted, Miriam answered my phone calls herself or called me back shortly after. That's one of the reasons I chose to hire her! I was impressed that she was so willing to work with me and my budget. I will always go to first!

My husband and I retained Milton to represent my husband for a criminal immigration matter, and not a minute too soon. My husband was arrested and charged with a crime that potentially could have destroyed his life. At first we retained a local attorney and we were led to the slaughter by this unprepared and under qualified "professional". He was not qualified to deal with such a complex and crucial issue, although according to him, he was a superstar. In the eleventh hour we retained Milton, and kept him engaged after conviction to represent my husband in the appeals process. Milton seemed to have a better understanding of all the facts at our initial meeting than the first attorney had the entire time he had represented my husband, almost a full year at this point. I wish we had retained Milton at the very first sign of trouble, the outcome would have been vastly different. Milton is very responsive, he returns calls, he answers his own phone and he knows the law. He isn't hired to be his client's best friend and he makes no bones about it, but his demeanor is such that even when he delivers horrible news you know he is solid in your camp, not playing both sides of the isle, or rolling the dice with your life. Milton is well respected in the field and he very deserving of this respect. He spent countless hours preparing for our “hopeless” case and it paid off in the appeals process. Looking back on a horrible experience and learning from 20/20 hindsight, I believe retaining Milton first would have been the best form of defense. If we had to do it all over again, Milton would have been the only attorney we needed to know and the appeal wouldn’t have been necessary. An attorney firmly in your camp from the beginning, who is aware of his strengths and is confident in the delivery of your Defense is 99% of the battle. I recommend Milton with confidence for representation with your immigration or criminal legal matters, if he isn’t the right attorney he will not try to convince you that he is, and he will be honest and upfront with you sooner rather than later, or worse, the morning of the plea deal deadline on the eve of trial.

If you should happen to find yourself on a side of the law you don’t want to be, I highly recommend reaching out to Mr. Hyman. It’s always interesting when someone’s intellect actually matches with their name. It’s great when an attorney has a network of resources they are willing to utilize for their clients (even when it’s superb wit to help you understand all of your legal options 😉). I have no further notes, check him out for yourself. 5 stars all the way.

I didn’t even have to go to court. His results are top tier. His communication is impeccable. He is top tier in networking and has really good connections with local law enforcement/judges. I regret to say that my experience with this law firm, particularly attorney Kate Hill, was incredibly disappointing. I scheduled a consultation appointment with Kate after her assistant assured me that there were no conflicts of interest that would prevent her from representing me. However, after Kate spoke with my ex-wife's attorney, who happened to be my opposition, she suddenly claimed that a conflict existed, rendering her unable to represent me in any future matters. It is deeply concerning that Kate's decision seemed to be influenced by conversations with the opposing party's attorney. This indicates a lack of integrity and independence on her part, which are essential qualities for any lawyer. A lawyer's primary duty should be to advocate for their client's best interests, not to bow to pressure from the other side. Overall, my experience with this law firm, particularly with attorney Kate Hill, has left me questioning their professionalism and commitment to their clients. I would caution anyone considering their services to proceed with extreme caution, as their actions suggest a weak and easily swayed legal representation.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel Bush a few years back when my son needed an adjustment on his immigration status during a challenging time in his life. I cannot express how grateful I am for her expertise and dedication with his case. From the very first consultation, Rachel demonstrated a deep understanding of immigration law and provided clear, actionable advice tailored to my son´s unique situation. What impressed me most was Rachel's unwavering commitment to my son´s case. She was always available to answer our questions, no matter how small, and ensured we fully understood every step of the process. She made a complex and overwhelming process feel manageable, and my son was able to become a Permanent Resident of the United States of America, thanks to her dedication. When it was my turn to adjust my immigration status, both, Rachel Bush and Itzy Castorena not only were incredibly knowledgeable but also compassionate and empathetic. They took the time to listen to my concerns and worked tirelessly to achieve the best outcome for my case. Their attention to detail and thorough preparation gave me confidence and peace of mind. Thanks to Rachel Bush and her team, my process was successful, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Me and My husband have used there services a couple times, the first time with a permit we were trying to acquire with a DACA Recipient trying to visit Mexico. And our last visit was in regards to our status here in the country. Both times the team have explained the procedures and possible outcomes, and all the steps involved with the complicated paperwork. There is alot to fill out but the team makes it easy during the process. And any questions you may have they are more than glad to help with. What I had assumed was a headache/nightmare was made very easy by there team, I am very happy with there proffesionalism. Given the fact that everyhting we did was through the phone and email. My husband and I used Robert Klock from 2008 until November 2014 I would NOT recommend anyone use him. He very rarely answers his phone and never returns phone calls he did not take my husbands case seriously he filed wrong paper work and he filed it late when i asked to get a copy of my husbands file to have a second opinion he said his printer was out of ink! so my husbands case was closed over a misedaminor charge at which time he had his permanent residence still... while being in immagration custody he never contacted my husband after he promised to do... so my husband wanted to appeal the case with a new lawyer but it was to later Robert Klock filed a paper stating my husband wanted to be removed so I am stuck here with 4 children my husband was our only source of income I just dropped out of my classes at UofA because at this point im about to lose everything... he also informed me that if I did not have the recite from my husbands 8000 bond in 2008 he will NOT give back my bond money oh and we did have another lawyer look over his case and he said he should have never been deported the only problem was the lawyers fault and said not to worry he will be giving back the bond money if he wants to or not!!!

The only bad thing I would say is he doesn't have a secatary therefore it is very hard to reach him via phone. So you must come into the office to get your questions answered. I would recommend you become very involved in your case and ask tons of question to better understand the process.

This is the Hoxie City Attorney in natural state of Arkansas. I was released from my volunteer position as a volunteer fire fighter. There are two ways to ve released from the fire depart. One is a very simple non confrontational way that occurs anytime during your 90 day probation. Or you are past your probation and they have to cite cause after exhausting a prescribed disiplinary procedure. So it is a mystery as to why I was let go for cause. I am still in probationary period according to the department even though I disagree. So why was i told there were four seperate complaints against me. Yes complaints I never was told about. Seems weird, but that is what happened. This attorney I use the term loosly was rude to me over the phone. She tried desperately to make me believe I have no legal recource in this matter. The complaints were relayed to me as a pig farmer in black rock - well that is incorrect the complainer is Zack Wilson, who once I process my FOIA with Hoxie, could end up in court for liable or slander. You see there can be no live stock in the city of black rock. Oh well off I go to anouther volunteer fire department, were I wont be released because of a neighbor like Zack Wilson upset over me correctly insisting he cant have pigs in the city limits. I was told to consult with this attorney over the dismissal by my former supervisor on the fire department.

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Passport and immigration documents: Bring your passport, visa, and any documents related to your current immigration status.
  • Family documents: If you're applying for a family-based visa or green card, bring marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of family relationships.
  • Employment information: For employment-based visas, provide your employment contract, offer letter, or other documentation of your job.
  • Criminal records (if applicable): If you have any criminal history, bring copies of court records and other relevant documents.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any prior immigration applications, visas, or issues with immigration authorities.
  • List of questions: Prepare any questions you have about your immigration case, the process, costs, and the likelihood of success.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
