My job was trying to withhold my check saying I was overpaid 3 days before Christmas. I told them to hold off until I can review all the information myself and agree to this matter. My job informed me they didn't need my permission and they were going withhold my check. I contacted Ms. Tracey and my problem was solved. We reviewed everything in detail and seen what really happen and we worked out great payment arrangements. Thank you so much!

We hired Attorney Martin on a juvenile court case and she got our son justice. The court botched the plea under advisement deal when it switched the case to another courtroom. When Attorney Martin discovered this glitch she advised us, went into action, ordered the transcripts, gathered all court documents, then she scheduled a hearing before a judge and presto!! The plea deal was back and our son completed his probation and now has a clean record thanks to her. We were never focused on the money to retain her services, just the outcome and what Attorney Martin could deliver and she made good. But, she also worked with us on payments and I really appreciated that. We're all very relieved and pleased and if you're ever in a legal jam she's the one you should want by your side in court. She's worth every Benjamin and Hamilton invested.

"I had the pleasure of working with Attorney Gladys Kemunto Mogaka and was thoroughly impressed with her level of expertise and commitment to my immigration case. From our initial meeting, it was evident that she was highly knowledgeable about the complexities of immigration law and well-versed in navigating the process efficiently. She took the time to understand the specifics of my situation and provided clear, step-by-step guidance on what needed to be done. What stood out the most was Attorney Gladys's responsiveness and attention to detail. Every question I had, whether big or small, was answered promptly and with care. She ensured that every document was submitted on time, without any errors, which gave me great confidence in the progress of my case. The process can be stressful, but her calm and professional demeanor made me feel reassured at every stage. Additionally, Attorney Gladys was proactive in identifying potential challenges and advising me on how to avoid them. Her strategic approach helped streamline the entire process and ultimately led to a successful outcome. I truly felt that I was in good hands from start to finish. I highly recommend Attorney Gladys Kemunto Mogaka for anyone seeking reliable and knowledgeable immigration legal services. She is not only skilled at what she does but also genuinely invested in her clients’ success, providing personalized support every step of the way."

If you are looking for an experienced, no nonsense, genius and expert Attorney, Cena Colber Gray is exactly who you are looking for. I watched firsthand her work my cousin’s SEVERAL cases and got them dismissed. My cousin was looking at some serious time and the family felt very defeated. That was before we had our first meeting with Mrs. Gray. Throughout the entire process she promised she’d take care of him and she did. This not only impressed me, it changed my perspective of lawyers as a whole. Do not be confused, her price is her price. Do not argue with her worth because she honestly should be charging more for what she does for her clients. Thank you so much for helping my cousin Mrs. Gray. Thank you for seeing his worth. You have my utmost respect and support.

Ok so I had 2 cases that turned into 8 separate cases, I had two 4th habituals which carries life. I hired Attorney Gray when I say she not only had my 4th habituals dismissed but the other cases as well. I ended up with 1yr probation. No jail time!! I couldn't asked for a better outcome. Now she is pretty pricey but she is worth every dollar. So from me and my family thank you for all of expertise and keeping me out of prison😁

Mr Schaefer was on time and gave me time to send materials to look over before our meeting. He was thorough in his analysis of the information i provided and gave complete feedback on the possibilities of the outcome. Though we were not able to move forward toward working together, he gave me enough information to independently pursue arbitration on my own. Though it may and probably not be successful, Mr Schaefer was honest and did not try to sell me on his ability to succeed on his own terms. Thank you for your time.

I was embarrassed to think about having to file for bankruptcy let alone not knowing how to do it the correct way by myself. After some research I knew bankruptcy was not something I could do by myself. Walter Metzen & Associates had the reviews I liked and after speaking with Walter I felt comfortable going forward with applying for chapter 13 with them. Walter made me aware of all the upside and downside of filling, what is required to file all the documents I would need to supply etc. Throughout the entire process if I had a question I would call and he answered or if I left a message it was returned when it was possible for Walter to call back, it was never the next day but within minutes or maybe hours. My case was granted and with the classes provided for money management through the courses I took I feel great. Thank you Walter.

My story with Carine is the most perfect one. I was new to Michigan My first time in the court house I didn't have a lawyer and my case worker sent me an eye signal said to ask her if she would be your lawyer because we both were at the restroom I did she said yes without hesitating and that was the most luck I ever had. she held my hand for 5 years until I became permanent residents. she cares about her people, she says the truth and she never has anything negative to say about anyone. Anybody lucky enough to find her will be the best day of your life. I came to this country and I don't have one single soul call family because of her I know what not sleeping in kitchen, floors, and the street means. so I am very lucky for her. she's an amazing, amazing lawyer. because of her I am in law school today to become a patent lawyer so I can help and give back to society what I did not expect to have. so words are not enough to tell her but she is my superwoman and I will always love her thank you so much for saving my life.

I have had the best of intentions to share the great experience I had dealing with Mr Swor and his team. After being aquitted, it has taken time to try and get my life back to what it used to be. That being said, as I continue to get back on my feet, I will forever be greatful. I retained Mr Willam Swor as my attorney in September 2014. On my way back home to Canada from a routine buisness trip, I was accused of smuggling cocain into America. This accusation if convicted, carried a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years. Needless to say this was the start of a 6 month nightmare that I would never have imagined and had the possibility of becoming a 10 year nightmare if convicted.  Mr.  Swor and his dedicated and brilliant legal team did everything within  their power, scouring the globe to find  evidence to connfirm my innocence.   During the whole legal process,  Mr Swor displayed empathy  through his actions  providing assurance, continuous communication  and support to my wife, two  young sons , extended family and friends.    In March of 2015, I was aquitted of all charges . I was able to go back home and be with my family.  Mr Swor and his team believed in me and helped me prove my innocence.  Thank you

I decided to visit family in a city nearby Detroit. When driving to their home, a police officer pulled me over claiming that she believed I was under the influence. I let her search my car and cooperated with her by conducting a field sobriety exam. To make a long story short, a crumb of marijuana, 5/100th of a gram was found in my car and I was arrested for OWI and Possession of Marijuana. I called Attorney William Swor, as soon as I got out of jail the next morning and he was very helpful on explaining and comforting me on the situation. Right before my pre-trial came up, Mr. Swor and I received a letter stating I violated Bond as well. So upon entering the courtroom, I had three charges making me unbelievable anxious. But after going to court, I had the OWI and my Bond Violation dismissed thanks to Mr. Swor. For the marijuana charge, I am currently on a drug/alcohol testing program, in which if I pass all the tests, the charge will be dismissed as well. Throughout the case, I was extremely nervous and anxious because I have never been arrested before, yet alone for what I believe was a ridiculous charge; 5/100th of a gram of marijuana. Yet, this attorney was there for me when I needed him, treated me as if I was family, and most importantly fought to get my charges dismissed. Overall, he is a very pleasant attorney and would recommend him to anyone that is facing a criminal charge.

Please do not waste your time dealing with these terrible lawyers who handle cases terribly, they double dip in charges and are just all around horrible horrible people. Me and my mom were hit by a semi truck by a well know produce company. They couldn’t get me loss wages. They double dip in charges. They switch lawyers without letting anybody know. I wouldn’t recommend this law firm to my worst enemy. I wish I would’ve just stayed with Mike Morse. I am so sad and upset. I wasted two years of my life with this law firm. I would’ve had a better chance representing myself. Exhaust all options before coming here.

I hired him for my case. I paid him five thousand dollars in advance and also paid for his flight and hotel expenses. After getting the money he emailed me one day and said that nothing can be done for my case. Without even filing it he said it got refused and didn’t give me my money back.initially he said he will get my case approved. He just took the money and did nothing. I hired Ronald Walker when my father was detained by immigration. He was very reassuring and branded himself extremely well. We hired him to help us get our father out of jail and represent him in immigration court. My father was deported very quickly and never went to court. Mr. Walker kept the $5,000 we paid him upfront because he visited my father once and spoke to Border Patrol and ICE ONCE! We were taken advantage of at a vulnerable time by a very unethical and dishonest person! I wish I would’ve done more research! The only thing Mr. Walker did was sent a request to ICE to release him where he misspelled my father’s name 4 times and our last name 6 times. This clearly indicated he is extremely careless! I certain the fees are excessive and down right unethical! Save yourself the heartache and pain of being lied to in your time of need!

My wife and I had a consultation with Mr. Walker and then we did hire him to work on our case. He informed us what we had to do and about the steps we had to take to fix our problem. We decided to do the first step with him. He told us how much it cost, but would never tell us how much the other steps would be. He kept saying "Let's just focus on this first step and if it gets approved, we'll talk about the next." We would've liked to know estimates of how much money we were looking at. The travel distance and money were an issue so we didn't continue with him. We did get an approval letter from Immigration about the first step he worked on. We noticed there was a mistake on the letter. The mistake was made either by him or Immigration. I called him up to see if he could make a phone call to immigration to find out if they made the mistake or if he did. He said, "Why would I further expand my work with you if you got a new attorney?" It's not further expanding his work with us. It's fixing a mistake that was made when he worked on our case that we already paid for. It's one phone call to see where the error was made. We already paid for the first step to get done right. We did get a new attorney closer to home, but Mr. Walker won't fix it for us because we aren't paying him anymore.

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:
