You can't find a more patient, knowledgeable and informative immigration lawyer. Mr. Mirque thought out of the box and helped where many other lawyers could not. He had expertise in the tedious immigration visas that only caused me headaches before. In less than a week having consulted with him, my husband was approved for a visa. Mr. Mirque is definitely on your side and can navigate the visa process from stat to finish. Whether it is is B2, I130, green card or any other immigration needs for your loved family member to come to the USA.... he is your immigration lawyer. HIGHLY recommended!

Rob supposedly applied for my husband’s US citizenship 4 years ago and we are still waiting. Have gotten no response except for when we requested a copy of his file he gave us a bill for $3,000 for back charges and another $3,000 bill for copy charges before he would give us the file. The file didn’t include a receipt number which you need to check on your application. He won’t return calls, emails, texts, notes, and is never in his “office”. This has now set our family back 4 years & caused a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF STRESS FOR EVERYONE including jeopardizing my husbands job on multiple occasions. He won’t even respond to our new immigration lawyer who has sent letters, called etc. Why would you do this to our family?????? There is no sign of any application in the USCIS system. Also when my husband tried to renew his green card which was sent to our old address and thrown out by the new owner, Rob told him to reapply not use the I-90 form for lost or stolen cards so they denied that and he has to reapply for that as well. Mistakes, horrible communication, and treated my family like he couldn’t be bothered. I don’t understand how he doesn’t have more bad reviews, but I have seen the others online as well, and their story is very similar to ours. We have had enough, we will have to resort to solving this legally.

I was looking for a competent and knowledgable lawyer to help me put together the adjustment of status (green card) application for my husband, and I am so glad that I found Robert Mirque! He clearly has extensive experience in immigration law and knows the ins and outs of all of the many forms that one has to file in this confusing process! We just had one consultation so far, but I am looking forward to working with him going forward. He was very generous with his time and answered all of my questions in an extremely thorough manner. He patiently explained to me the background and logic behind the various steps that we will be working through, so that I could have a strong understanding of how to navigate the process. He helped me to understand what parts of the application matter most so I know where to focus my time and energy. He also warned me regarding what to watch out for down the line so I know what to think about in advance. I feel very confidant that Robert Marque will help us to make this process as smooth and comprehensible as possible.

Mary Pigorsh made a complete mess of my children’s and my life. I went in to hire her and as soon as I signed and paid the retainer - she passed me off on to Patricia Sheltrown. Mary told me I “could not afford her” (yes, in those words). $65,000 for a horrible divorce that I then had to pay double to another attorney, post divorce, to try and unravel. My ex hired a dishonest attorney here in GR that I used to work for. (Yes, I showed a conflict of interests right away. I was even friends with his assistant. Mary said it was “fine”. No it was not!). Because of what Mary & Patti allowed this unjust attorney to do to my children and I in the divorce, 6 years later - he still tries to beat on us. EVERY single holiday especially. I reached out to Mary’s bosses to tell them what happened and how much I was charged and actually received (there was never any separation of property, which I was told would happen post divorce. What? No, my ex got basically everything). Mary’s bosses did not care. DO NOT USE this firm. Run especially if Mary Pigorsh is mentioned.

Above all things, thank you Kelly for your unparalleled professionalism, and for handling my case with expertise. We won, and it was your dedication that made it happen. Kelly provided a clean, no b.s approach while sharing empathy through out my case. He was clear, understanding and tentative. The defendant was accused of wrongful conversion of personal property, fraud, silent fraud, breach of contract (express and implied), quantum meruit, unjust enrichment and promissory estoppel. His firm did not sit idle. We won and I was able to receive the money that was owed to me. Justice Served. Thank you Kelly. All the best,

Kelly is highly unprofessional, misogynistic, lazy, and unresponsive. I had to hound him and his assistant relentlessly for case updates, and would go several weeks at a time before getting a vague, angry, "What do you want now?" response from him. Does not like being held accountable. 10 months into my case with zero action taken from Mr. Lambert, aside from taking my $2700 retainer, sending me improperly documented time sheets, and stating I'd need to pay another full retainer if I wanted him to continue doing nothing, I fired him and hired new counsel, who settled my case within a week. Avoid him at all costs. - - - *Updated to respond to Mr. Lambert's reply, which appears to align quite well with my statement regarding unprofessionalism* It also appears as though he's only responded so aggressively to other women who have been dissatisfied with his services, or lack thereof. I retained Kelly January 6, 2023 for a custody case. He waited a week to file entry of appearance January 13, 2023. The order I hired him to assist me with the terms of, and file a motion to further amend custody terms, ordered myself and defendant to select a mediator within 14 days. January 17th, 11 days after I retained him, I still hadn't heard from him, so I called. We spoke very briefly - the time log shows .2 billable hours. I had called a couple times in February and spoke to Ian Irish, his former assistant, providing him with my updated phone number and asking if Kelly had updates. Ian was also unprofessional and rude, and quite apparently failed to document our conversations, as well as my new phone number. March 7th, 2023 comes around, and I hadn't spoken with Kelly again about my case, more than 2 months after I hired him. The terms of the aforementioned order, dated 2/3/23, required mediation to be completed within 45 days. We hadn't spoken to be able select a mediator within the 14 days as ordered, so I grew worried mediation wouldn't take place within the ordered timeframe either. Mediation finally took place May 4, via zoom for 1.5 hours. The majority of my mediation session, Mr. Lambert was fielding calls for other cases. Mediation ended 1.5 hours in when Kelly asked the mediator for a private breakout room, wherein he asked HER to tell me he had an appointment downtown and had to leave. - - - I wasn't required to show up to court, because your motion to terminate your representation was withdrawn when my new counsel, whom I retained mid-October, reached out to inform you they'd been working with me. I could go on in great detail, but, Mr. Lambert, you aren't worth the energy. My sentiment remains that you also aren't worth hiring.

Britt Cobbs has proven herself to be an exceptional attorney, particularly in light of her handling of a legal matter in which I was involved. During the course of working together, she demonstrated a high level of proficiency and expertise in her field. One aspect of Ms. Cobbs' work that stood out to me was her ability to handle my complex situation with professionalism and poise. Moreover, Ms. Cobbs took the time to carefully explain each step of the process to me, ensuring that I had a clear understanding of what was happening. This approach helped put me at ease during what could have been a stressful and overwhelming experience. In summary, I cannot recommend Britt Cobbs highly enough. Her skill, dedication, and professional demeanor make her an outstanding attorney who truly puts her clients first.

I contacted Garrett, for representation in a case. In which another attorney refered him to me so i gave this guy the Benefit of the Doubt because my other attorney before Garrett was also worthless. Then Come to find out I was in the same Boat once again!! With this attorney. Garrett does not and will not answer his calls or emails. Purposely ignores you, And/or if he does text back. Tells you he will call back by the end of the day. And never does. I've gone Months without a single text or call back. He Does not make his customers a priority or Number 1!! Which he should go above and Beyond for his customers!! With that being said his Customers are the ones that pays his Bills and Mortgage at his Home and firm! He will even go to the extreme of being Lackadaisical in which He Will/Did Not turn in the Judgement of the verdict to Court services. About the other Party Being sued and which party Won The Case and who Won the Award for Monthly installments!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND GARRETT TENHAVE CHAPMAN! I had a highly disappointing experience with this attorney. I found his approach to be aggressive and, at times, seemingly unprofessional. There were instances where I felt he relied on questionable tactics to undermine opposing parties. Furthermore, his handling of sensitive matters left me feeling uncomfortable, as it appeared he was willing to defend individuals without regard for moral implications. In interactions, he seemed to prioritize his perspective over the established facts, which gave an impression of attempting to sway court proceedings regardless of the presented evidence. This approach raised concerns about his respect for the integrity of the judicial process. Overall, my experience with this attorney was unsettling due to what I perceived as an apparent disregard for ethical boundaries. I recommend exercising caution when going against him. In short: A chauvinistic slime ball who uses dirty tactics to defame his opposition. A compulsive liar who protects child abusers and alcoholic. The most amoral man I have ever come across. A thin skinned narcissist who goes as far as trying to put the integrity of judges and other attorneys in question . He goes the extra step to try to convince the court of his lies despite the evidence laid out. A lawyer that violates an unseen amount of morals and that in a 5 minute span

Our company engaged Ryan E. Lamb to handle breach of contract claims where clients were already notified, they just needed to be served lawsuits. In addition, he was to review our various contracts and bring to date. He promoted a "very experienced" collection team and we agreed that they would not be collected but sued for judgements. That did not happen. $10,045 bill later, no one was ever served, just sent collection letters. And the three different contracts he was to review separately and professionally alter separately, he combined into one big contract. An employee agreement, a client sales agreement and confidentiality agreement - what did he produce? One agreement that combined all three, we could not believe the level of inattention and issues we had. The firm offered no resolution, no apology, no refund, nothing. Be very cautious hiring this attorney, we had to hire competent counsel to get the jobs done.

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Passport and immigration documents: Bring your passport, visa, and any documents related to your current immigration status.
  • Family documents: If you're applying for a family-based visa or green card, bring marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of family relationships.
  • Employment information: For employment-based visas, provide your employment contract, offer letter, or other documentation of your job.
  • Criminal records (if applicable): If you have any criminal history, bring copies of court records and other relevant documents.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any prior immigration applications, visas, or issues with immigration authorities.
  • List of questions: Prepare any questions you have about your immigration case, the process, costs, and the likelihood of success.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
