My assessment of the Lacey Law Firm is based on years of experience doing business with lawyers and law firms in my position as Managing Partner of CHARTOR Entertainment LLC (www.CHARTORentertainment.com ). My co-Managing Partner, Charles Floyd Johnson, is an attorney as well. 2017 I was introduced to Ron and Mark Lacey by Attorney Nikki Mitchell, Senior Partner in the Law Firm of Mitchell, Brown & Associates, LLC. I retained Nikki Mitchell to handle matters concerning my Aunt and Uncle’s estate. I was the Executor of my Aunt and Uncle’s estate, they lived in St. Louis, MO. Both my Aunt and Uncle had fallen ill and their only daughter (my cousin), with whom they had a difficult relationship, had taken legal action to seize their estate. Mitchell, Brown & Associates specializes in estate and probate law but I also needed to retain a law firm that specialized in civil litigation. The legal challenge from my Aunt and Uncle’s daughter took four years to resolve through Probate Court and civil litigation. My Aunt had Alzheimer’s and my Uncle served as her caretaker and caregiver until he fell ill. My Aunt and Uncle’s daughter testified under oath that my Aunt, her Mother, had designated her as Executor of her Mother and Father’s estate, despite the testimony of my Uncle who made it absolutely clear to the judge presiding over the case, that both him and my Aunt—prior to her Alzheimer’s diagnosis—had designated me as the Executor of their estate as stated in their Last Will & Testament and their estate plan. Ron and Mark Lacey were professional, tenacious, thorough, meticulous and represented the highest standards of legal expertise in civil litigation. They treated my Aunt and Uncle with the utmost respect, kindness and consideration. For four years, from 2017 until 2021, I traveled constantly from Los Angeles, where I live, to St. Louis for court hearings, depositions, meetings with Ron and Mark Lacey and with Nikki Mitchell, and to spend time with my Aunt and Uncle. Ron and Mark Lacey maintained constant contact with me and visited my Aunt and Uncle to update them on the status of their case. My Uncle died June 2018 and my Aunt died March 2020, but before my Uncle passed away he spoke of his respect and admiration for Ron and Mark Lacey. They successfully prosecuted the civil case against my Aunt and Uncle’s daughter. Ron and Mark Lacey flawlessly executed their due diligence by uncovering fraud, financial malfeasance and elder abuse on the part of my Aunt and Uncle’s daughter. I have written this review for one very important reason: It was long overdue for me to express the depth of my gratitude and appreciation to Ron and Mark Lacey and the staff of the Lacey Law Firm for demonstrating a level of professionalism that represents the very best of the legal profession. It is a shame it has taken me more than a decade to find a law firm that knows the law, operates in a top-caliber manner, and treats the client like a human. I have had a couple of attorneys at Hale, but the one who helped us the most was Suzanne. Not only is she a bomb a** attorney, but she also knows how to handle and run a business, be classy, and professional, and have customer service. I appreciate her no-frills approach to handling cases and client situations.
She keeps a client-centered approach and looks out for everyone's best interest. Attorneys are indeed expensive but Suzanne makes sure the money spent on your case is allocated in a manner that does not leave your account on zero or paying unnecessary fees. She believes in transparency, honesty, and integrity; which is rare when an attorney is involved in difficult cases. When I first began to realize I might need an attorney, never having the need before, I was at a loss as to how to find a good one. So I asked people who work with attorneys and I called those they recommended.
Only one attorney returned my call, Chip Gentry. Chip always returns my calls.
I met with Chip, who appeared to be intelligent, professional, and competent. He listened closely, took notes, and asked questions. He was realistic about the situation I faced, avoided making predictions about how the legal process might turn out, and was conservative in his estimation of potential success.
By the end of our first meeting, I felt listened to, taken seriously, and understood.
I was impressed.
Thus began my journey with Chip Gentry, and in working with him grew to appreciate his obvious legal talent, brilliant strategic and analytical thinking, but most of all his love for justice and our constitutional system of law. He truly loves what he does and is very, very good at it.
I also began to realize and greatly appreciate the fact that his partner Jason Call and their entire staff possess the same level of competence, integrity, and professionalism. They were all involved in my case, working together as a great team.
Chip informed and advised me each step of the way, always thinking long term, but keeping me focused on the present situation and prepared for the next step. He was my guide through the very complex intricacies of the legal process. The breadth and depth of his knowledge of law became evident as he took time to explain court procedure, case law, and statute in ways I could understand and appreciate.
When representing me, he was well prepared, concise, and effective in the presentation of my case. Our hearing was the last on the docket, which allowed me to watch other attorneys in the courtroom ply their trade. Compared to his associates, I was manifestly confident in Chip’s capabilities and proud to have him as my attorney.
Finally, and this is on a more personal note, Chip was expeditious with my limited financial resources, carefully allocating his work in order to maximize his investment in time and effort, without any unnecessary or improper costs. He was very considerate of my finances, and though I’m sure he has wealthier clients, he continually treated me with dignity and respect. I did not feel at any time less valuable and important to him than other clients, and never doubted that he always had my best interest in mind.

And I’ll admit when I first went into the office at the Corbett Law Firm I wanted the dad (Jim Corbett) as my lawyer, not Matt Corbett the son. Matt looked like a kid to me and I figured they just kept Matt around the office to wax their cars and go get hamburgers for everyone at lunch. I needed someone with cold steely eyes and an itchy trigger finger. My case was special and I needed someone with experience. As far as I knew only the dad had that kind of take no prisoners, getter done kind of reputation. My philosophy is, if you need to go to war then get someone to go with you who has been there. Failure is not an option! But I got stuck with the kid so my new plan was to hang around with him just long enough to get to see his dad come through the office then fall down on the floor and grab a hold of his leg and make him drag me around until he agreed to take my case. But I never saw him. I guess he still works there? He must have some kind of a special Batman cave entrance? But, I’m glad now that I didn’t. One – well, because I’d have wrinkled my cloths. Two - well, because who needs the dad when Matt’s around! Man, this young man turned out to be a go getter. I was surprised! He took care of everything from A to Z for me and got me the help I needed. Talk about a chip off the old block. And in the end he had that insurance company down on the ground crying uncle before I knew it. And rightly so! If I would have known then what I know now I never would have asked for the dad, what ever his name is. I’d have asked for Matt right away. This young man went above and beyond the call of duty for me. And let me tell ya, the trains run on time when you’ve got this young man working for ya. Give him a try you’ll be glad you did. Did I mention he does cars too? Or maybe it’s the dad, I’m not sure?
