We hired Adam to assist us with starting our new business. Adam met with us to help us understand the types of corporations and what worked best for us. He worked with us on our operating agreement and walked us through the entire trademark process including warning us about scams that may show up afterward (and they did!). Adam also reviewed and recommended changes to the terms and conditions and privacy policies for our website. Our business is food and agriculture-based, and he assisted us to find other resources we needed to ensure we comply with VA law. He's responsive, knowledgeable and professional. We even hired him to help us write a contract for our nanny. If we need a lawyer we call Adam. Don't tell him I said this, but I'd probably pay him more for the service he provides.

Kelly and I first crossed paths when a patent troll crossed mine four years ago. Her sage advice guided us safely over that nasty ogre's bridge completely unscathed. Dr Hollowell is the patent attorney for our firm, and has done an outstanding job. She is always on top of whatever document needs to be filed, and never lets a deadline slip up on us. She extremely professional and knowledgeable about all the aspects of patent law, and she can explain it to where it is easily understood.
She is someone you can talk to and know that she not only will be the best attorney, and she will always be a step ahead. We filed a patent and it was approves by the USPO, and then she laid out a plan for widening the impact of our patent and protecting our intellectual property. She works diligently today to strengthen our patents so we won't have unforeseen issues in the future with someone trying to go around them.
We have another very technical patent that has just been filed where she enlisted other professionals to build the application from scratch so to speak and made it a viable presentation to the USPO that we feel confident it will be approved. She went the second mile for us on this one especially...getting detailed drawings done and verbiage etc. for a tight presentation of the material and the idea to the USPO. We would highly recommend Dr Hollowell to anyone needing the consummate professional for their patent needs.

We needed an attorney to help us with our copy write issues enabling us to pass the last hurdle in getting our work published. Manuel first helped us understand the surrounding legal issues involved. Once he did that he was able to ask us the right questions to guide his research. One of the things which impressed us the most was the quality of Manuel's research. This made us comfortable that all our issues were covered in depth and nothing would sneak up on us a year after we published. Manuel is also very good in interpreting the law in practical terms. My case is still ongoing. I have been litigating before the Alexandria Circuit Court since 2013. Rich came on board Sept 2017 and very quickly was able to obtain an important ruling on a critical case issue. The guy is just amazing, very knowledgeable, known and respected in the Virginia legal community, personable and easy to talk to. Calm and smooth in Court. In Virginia you must have an attorney who can make a case in the written pleadings as well as in oral arguments. Rich excels at both. Lauren Mills defended a two year investigation into my company by the Federal Goverment that began with a 50 agent raid. Working tirelessly, we were able to turn the tables on the employee who was responsible for the wrong doing. In the end I took a plea offer for a Class B Misdemeanor while the guilty party took a Felony plea with substantial jail time.

Mr. Colbert was very strategic throughout the whole process!! My best friend was faced with two assault felony charges in the name of self defense. If convicted, he would have been sentenced with over a decade. Damon represented my best friend during trial with smart and strategic arguments/ proposals. A bit lacking on customer service and manners. Every time I call them my "hellos", "good mornings" and "have a nice day" are greeted with silence, a hang up click or some snarky response.
Do they know they're talking to paying customers? I wonder....
Call me old fashion, but I do appreciate a respectful exchange and greeting. Especially if I am paying top dollar for boilerplate templates I could potentially fill out myself.

Bottom Line - Colleen Haddow is the BEST attorney I could have ever wished for --my only regret is that I didn't start with her from the beginning.
Ms. Colleen Haddow came as a recommendation from my previous law firm following failed mediation in a highly complex, contentious, and financially draining divorce and custody case. The opposing counsel - whose professional reputation precedes her as a person devoid of ethics and civility, made finding a willing, capable, and affordable replacement daunting. Colleen personally and immediately took my call for an intake interview. When I opened by informing her of who opposing counsel was, she simply laughed with complete confidence, accepted my case, and immediately got my case moving on the right track.
Unlike opposing counsel in this case, Colleen is a legal professional with impeccable integrity and ethics; but not to be confused with someone who submits to bully tactics or shies away from confrontation in or out of the courtroom. My case was for an annulment based on fraud and Ms. Wright took it head on. She explained legal strategies in a way that could be understood by someone without law experience and set realistic expectations for the outcome. She readied me for testimony by providing a list of questions and prepared answers to make sure I would remember to include all of the pertinent facts on the stand. It's easy to be nervous and forget, but since I studied her guide, I was able to focus on facts without rambling on a tangent.
Unexpectedly, the judge announced my hearing would be completed on that day when two half-days were scheduled. Ms. Wright and I were blindsided because we expected to have time to prepare for cross examinations. Despite this challenge, she remained focused and on her feet for an entire day and didn't skip a beat. I could hardly keep my eyes open but she improvised, asked all the right questions and kept in the game for 6-1/2 hours. It was a long hard day.
Ms. Wright thinks fast on her feet. She's sharp, strategic, focused, has a great memory and has a winning mindset. As a bonus, she is very easy to work with and maintains friendly professionalism.
The annulment was granted! Ms. Wright made it happen and I am forever grateful that she agreed to represent me. I would refer her to anyone.

This Attorney would generally not return phone calls and emails. I literally pleaded with her to keep me up to date and informed, because I was so desperate about my legal matters, but she simply ignored my requests, except for a few isolated times. Once I fired her, she gave me a final bill, which was more expensive than I expected.
During our initial one hour consultation, which I was charged for, she did not even have the court order paperwork printed out, which I sent to her prior to the meeting. So she had to take 5-8 minutes and print it out as I sat there waiting; and then she had to read it over. I was disappointed that she was not prepared for the meeting.
By far the worst part was that this Attorney acknowledged that I am due the remainder of the retainer, but the she stopped communicating with me. She provided me with the invoice, which even stated that she still owes me, but she simply ignored all my communication attempts, including, to answer my phone calls, emails, and even personal messages left with the receptionist in her office.
By the way, the Wright Law Firm, operated by Marcia Wright, has only one Attorney actively working there, which is Ms Wright herself. I was so hurt that she would refuse to give me the several hundred dollars back, since it was mid November, and Christmas was approaching. I could have used the money. It is now January and still not a peep from her.
