I was driving through Atlanta late one night. Almosts got into an accident and was then pulled over. The officer had me get out of the car and had me do field evaluations. I was taken to jail for DUI. I hired Mr. Kevin Fisher and he was able to get the DUI changed to a much better outcome. Thank you Kevin. I appreciate your guidance.

I got a pretty bad speeding ticket because I was late going to my pregnant wife’s appointment to meet the specialist because she had a high risk pregnancy. The ticket I received was also a super speeder. My job requires that I have a clean record. I hired Kevin and he was able to help me get a great outcome. No points, no reporting to my MVR, this helps SO much because I work and drive a company vehicle for an insurance company. Kevin made the process very easy and seamless. Out of FOUR lawyers that I contacted, Kevin was the only one who was responsive, he was up front about his pricing and steps that I would need to take going forward. Most lawyers are lazy but not Kevin. I would hire Kevin again if ever needed his services! Thanks for the hard work Kevin!

Thank you for taking care of my son and his needs above all things!! You have an amazing heart and wear it on your sleeve. You truly show your clients with actions that we come first. Yes everyone wants and needs money but it’s never the first issue on the table. Needs first then we fight for the money part. Thank you for not making us ever wonder.. now what? What’s going on? How long? How much? Thank you for always keeping us updated and answering all our questions and giving us peace. I personally want to say thank you for taking the extra time with my son who is deaf/ hard of hearing to explain things to him at his level and with a loving heart. I would not hesitate on using your service if ever the need came up. Carter is an outstanding and passionate attorney. I was arrested a couple years back on Halloween at a road block by State Patrol for a "DUI" after passing all the field sobriety tests. I was driving a friend home, but State Patrol arrested me anyway. I contacted Carter after I was bailed out. He quickly took my case, reviewed the evidence, police tapes, and was determined to prove I was truly innocent and should not have been arrested that night. My case was presented at the state level where they agreed I was not to be charged with a DUI due to the lack of evidence. Since the case was brought to the state court, Carter was able to arrange a plea bargain to reduce to reckless driving with no probation or nonsense alcohol and drug evaluation/classes. Carter fought for my case and was able to make the best of the situation and prove me innocent. The case took multiple years to close, however, he kept me informed of what was happening and what to expect the entire time. He is patient and will answer any questions you have and fight for what you. I highly recommend Carter. He is very passionate about his job and is truly on the defendants side.

A few months ago I was arrested on several serious charges. After initially consulting with Carter, I decided he would be the best person to represent me based on his clear understanding of my situation, and his ability to explain what was happening in layman's terms. I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to legal processes, but Carter was very patient in explaining my options to me, and answered all of my questions completely - regardless of how silly or paranoid they were. He was attentive and professional through the entire process, which reassured me I had made the right decision in hiring him. Ultimately, Carter was able to negotiate a reasonable plea agreement with the prosecutor, which was really the best possible outcome for my case. I hope I’ll never require this type of legal service again, but I would certainly rehire Carter if I did.

Attorney Hughes is awesome! I initially hired and attorney from a big name Law Firm to represent me in a child custody case. The attorney sold me a dream, got paid then basically told me the best she could do for me is get me standard visitation with a very high monthly child support payment. I replaced that attorney and hired Attorney Hughes, now I have custody and the mother has standard visitation. Your case is only as strong as your representation . If you're looking for a attorney that will fight for you, Attorney Hughes is your lady. The little lady with big standing.

I was caught red handed, irrefutable evidence that I had made some poor decisions. Instead of fitting a losing battle Mr. Lail proposed a solution that would accomplish the best results. I was blinded by fear and thinking that I knew best but I trusted Mr. Lail and was home and safe in a fraction of the time I was deserving of. I doubted Mr. Lail for a moment and ended up looking like a fool when it all worked out like he said it would. Look, Mr. Lail is not a magician and cannot guarantee you will get off without any consequence. However if you are smart, (well you wouldn’t actually need him, but when you do!) you will get a straight shooting level headed lawyer like Mr. Lail to be your pathfinder back to freedom. He will tell you the truth.

Ms. Britt seems like a nice person . Unfortunately nice does not win you over in court. She represented me on a family law matter and had NO exhibits. None. No evidence was presented on my behalf and she relied solely on my testimony. She was also not knowledgeable family law , but some how worked at a family law firm. My case was not studied properly which led to her only knowing initial information about my case. I had to inform her about what had been going on during my case on my COURT DATE at the last minute. In the end , the Judge chewed her up and spit her out and we looked stupid and unprepared, which ultimately caused me to lose my case. It's not worth it.

My case has been i limbo for over 2 years now. No communication, No verification, no court dates, no judge, no updates. The other person has a bond on them, however they call my family member and stated they was getting out. When I called the DA office no one every answer the phone. Then when I go down to the court on my own time, I have to go to the records department just to see what has happened to the case and to see if there is a court date coming up. I also I went to the DA office trying to speak with someone about these issues and I can speak with anyone but the front desk who is just a confused about who is the DA on the case and confused about the notes on the case. THIS IS THE WORST...... I couldn't even get victims services to help me or to get information on my case nor updates.....LIKE I SAID THE WORST IN HISTORY......

What a Juvenile Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A juvenile law lawyer specializes in legal issues involving minors, including those facing criminal charges, child welfare matters, or status offenses (like truancy or curfew violations). Juvenile law lawyers aim to protect the rights of minors and advocate for rehabilitation rather than punishment in criminal cases. They also help families navigate child custody, abuse, neglect cases, and other legal matters involving children.

If your child is facing criminal charges, or you are involved in a child welfare case, a juvenile law lawyer can help protect your child’s rights and work toward the most favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Juvenile Law Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a juvenile law lawyer in the following situations where minors are involved in legal matters:

  • Juvenile criminal charges: If your child is accused of a crime, such as theft, assault, or drug offenses, a juvenile lawyer can represent them in juvenile court, advocating for leniency and alternatives to detention.
  • Delinquency proceedings: A lawyer can help navigate delinquency charges, defending your child’s rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes like counseling, probation, or diversion programs instead of incarceration.
  • Status offenses: If your child has committed a status offense, such as truancy, running away, or underage drinking, a lawyer can help you resolve these issues in juvenile court, often focusing on rehabilitation rather than punishment.
  • School disciplinary issues: If your child is facing school suspensions, expulsions, or other disciplinary actions, a lawyer can help protect their educational rights and challenge any unfair or unlawful school policies.
  • Child protective services (CPS) investigations: If your family is being investigated by CPS for alleged abuse, neglect, or dependency, a lawyer can represent you and protect your child’s rights throughout the investigation.
  • Custody disputes: A lawyer can help in cases involving child custody or guardianship disputes, ensuring the child’s best interests are prioritized and advocating for the child’s rights.
  • Emancipation: If your child seeks legal emancipation from their parents or guardians, a lawyer can assist in navigating the legal process and help the child understand their rights and responsibilities.

Hiring a lawyer early in the legal process ensures that your child’s rights are protected and that the best possible outcomes are pursued.

What Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Do?

A juvenile law lawyer provides various services to help minors and their families navigate the legal system. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing minors in court: A lawyer will represent your child in juvenile court, advocating for their rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes rather than punitive measures.
  • Filing motions and legal paperwork: The lawyer handles all necessary legal filings, including petitions, responses, and motions to dismiss charges or suppress evidence.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: In some cases, a lawyer can negotiate plea deals or diversion programs that prevent the child from having a permanent criminal record or serving time in detention.
  • Advising on rehabilitation programs: Juvenile law lawyers often focus on alternatives to incarceration, such as counseling, community service, or probation, helping minors avoid long-term legal consequences.
  • Handling CPS and child welfare cases: If your family is involved in a CPS investigation or child welfare case, the lawyer can advocate for your child’s safety and well-being, ensuring that their rights are upheld.
  • Defending minors against school discipline: A lawyer can help challenge unfair or excessive disciplinary actions taken by schools, ensuring that your child’s educational rights are protected.
  • Advising families on legal options: A lawyer will explain the juvenile legal process to families, offering advice on the best legal strategies and what to expect during the case.

How Are Juvenile Law Lawyers Paid?

Juvenile law lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many juvenile law lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler cases, such as status offenses or school disciplinary hearings, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all legal services related to the case.
  • Retainer: In more complex cases, such as defending against serious criminal charges or handling a long-term CPS investigation, a lawyer may require a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as they work on the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some juvenile law lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or may provide pro bono (free) services for families who cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially in cases involving child welfare or delinquency.

Discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to understand the total cost and payment options.
