I reached out to Mike Regas after an automobile accident I had been involved in. I’m an anxious person, especially with things like this, and had never dealt with anything like this before and I cannot express enough how happy I was with the service Mike provided. He kept me in the loop throughout the whole process and answered all of my questions really quickly, even the really silly ones. Because of his help with the legal side of the accident I was able to focus more on my health side of things and take care of myself. He simplified everything to where I could understand and was very personable. I would definitely recommend Mike and his team. They do a great job and I was very happy with my outcome!

I was represented by James Stone in a difficult personal injury case. I was dealing with government insurance adjusters and board of commissioners so it wasn't as simple as pleading a case. James was fantastic though. I would send over information I had and James would stay busy. If I had any question James would answer them in words that someone outside of the law practice could understand. I went through three different law offices trying to find someone with the knowledge to handle my case and James, with Stone Law, not only handled my case but conquered it as well. I will be referring James Stone to anyone in need of a great lawyer.

Tom represented me in a contract dispute with a former employer. From the day he started working on my case, he guided me through the process and prepared me for each stage. As this was a very stressful situation for me, Tom's ongoing reassurance and support made it much easier. He was extremely thorough in understanding the entire situation to determine the best strategy and the first thing he did was invalidate their claim that I violated my non-compete clause. After that, we tried mediation, but they were unwilling to move an inch. Ultimately, the case went to arbitration and the judge found in favor of me on every point...including fees and expenses. Tom built a very good case by doing his research, making sure we had the right witnesses, discrediting the opposing witnesses and being more prepared than the other guy. I remember one of the first things Tom told me is he would never lose because the other guy worked harder or was more prepared. He proved that to me. Tom demonstrated what a trusted advisor can be...he really did care about me and my family and worked hard to take care of us. I would gladly hire him again if the need arose.

Thomas Richelo was very competent and caring in my lawsuit against a former employer for pension benefits. He had experience in litigation of similar matters involving my employer's affiliate. He was extremely conscientious in pursuing every avenue and preparing for court. He steered my lawsuit through a long discovery phase and was firm and relentless in his interrogation of the defendants. I always felt that he was a passionate advocate and succeeded in obtaining a just settlement through mediation. I believe that he truly cared about me and my rights.

I am so thankful to have had Dave Currie as my lawyer. He represented me in an automobile accident case and did an incredible job! He not only got an unbelievable result for me, he kept me fully informed at all times - from our initial consultation to the conclusion of the case. He answered all of my questions promptly and professionally and always treated me with kindness and respect. He was always easily-accessible by phone or email, which I really appreciated. His remarkable range of medical, as well as, legal knowledge helped me to understand and face the stressful issues with ease. He is a highly-skilled lawyer, a great negotiator, and an absolute pleasure to work with! I highly recommend him. "Don't worry, call Currie!"

Dave Currie was the best person and lawyer I could have found for my case. My case was a sexual assault case, the incident occurred at a nationally known massage establishment by a licensed massage therapist. Needless to say the case could have been extremely uncomfortable for me, but Dave made every step of the process comfortable and as easy as possible. When anything uncomfortable came up Dave always had my back and made me feel like we were a team, he even took the time to get to know my family that would come along to some of the meeting with me. When it came time for the depositions and negotiations I was extremely nervous, but Dave was knowledgeable and honest about how the proceedings go and it helped a lot with my nerves. Dave’s knowledge, experience, and diligence rewarded me a substantial settlement. Dave consistently kept me in the loop about what was going on in my case, as well as answered any questions, calls, emails, or texts that I sent his way. Dave not only made me feel like I had an amazing lawyer on my side to make sure I wouldn’t get taken advantage of, he also made me feel like I had a friend on my side that wanted to make sure that I was going to be emotionally strong once everything was over.

Dave Currie is an outstanding lawyer. I was injured in and explosion that left me with permanent hearing damage. Due to my field of business, it was a career ending injury and very important to me. The first lawyer I contacted was horrible. The initial consult was great but it wasnt long before I was wondering what else I needed to be doing and where my case stood. After numerous attempts to reach him and few, if any, return calls, I researched specialized ear injury lawyers and found Dave Currie. After speaking to Dave on the phone for a brief description of his expertise, I fired my current lawyer and went to meet Dave and his team. Let me just say that immediately upon entering his office, I felt amazed at how professional and courteous everyone was. I sat down at a huge table and had 3 people completely focused on what I had to say. Kenya Cantrell, one of Dave's associates, began taking notes, and was ALWAYS available when Dave was not. She promptly returned phone calls and emails, and followed up with all my questions and even questions that I didn't know I had at the time. I was also very impressed at the level of communication that I had with Dave. There were quite a few times that he returned calls and emails on the weekends and days he was out of the office or off. Dave's knowledge of the specifics of my injury were very impressive. He knew some of the doctors that I have seen on a first name basis and was personally sympathetic to my condition. He was very honest with me at all times and if at any point he was unfamiliar with something, he said so, and promptly researched information and followed up with me about it. Dave went above and beyond to make sure that I knew what was going on and what all I needed to do while we were awaiting a hearing. During the time before my hearing, I had some troubling family problems and Dave was genuinely concerned for me and what was going on. He postponed a few things while I dealt with them and did not hound me into continuing my case until I was ready. He is very professional yet so comfortable talking to you, its like speaking to an old friend. As time started boiling down, we scheduled a deposition. Dave walked me through what would happen and gave me the direction that I needed to enter the deposition with confidence. After about 5 hours of depositions, things went exactly as Dave had explained. A few days passed and the negotiations began. Dave informed me in great detail what similar cases had settled for and suggested that I not set my sights too high. After many counter offers and Dave's expert negotiating, we settled for about 10 percent higher than the highest settlement for similar and some exceeding the damage that I suffered. I am so pleased that I chose Dave Currie. This was the only time I ever needed a lawyer and I was so relieved that everything went so smoothly. I couldn't have asked for anything more in a representative or a friend.

Emily (aka "Sandy") Bair is a woman of immense intellect, with the determination to do her best for her client. She is a woman of few words, but every word she speaks counts. She will never ramble on either in her office or in court. Judges respect that. Her preparation is meticulous. She will cut you off if you rattle on, to remind you that you are paying her to hear you vent, and that there are cheaper people to vent to. My case had been going on for seven years when she took it over. I had just been through a hearing using another attorney. Having already been found in contempt, I hired Sandy Bair who appealed part of the court order and convinced the court to reduce my penalties as the action giving rise to the contempt had been performed by me immediately following and in accord with the specific and express legal advice of my former attorney. Ms. Bair is now handling my QDRO/pension problems as my divorce was in 2004 and I still have not received the pension benefits I was awarded in the divorce. QDRO's are a very specific part of the law that is very complicated. She has done much legal research in that area and is very well-versed in the particulars of QDROs. If you are looking for sweet and chatty, don't hire Sandy. If you are looking for an intelligent, experienced, straight-talking, hard-working, honest lawyer who can cut through legal BS- she is all that. I also think she is a female lawyer that men would be comfortable hiring.

Ms. Bair handled a very contentious divorce case and subsequent alimony modification action for me. My ex-wife tried hard to litigate numerous extraneous issues, engage in abusive discovery and take unnecessary depositions. I am an attorney myself, and she worked to avoid inflaming a hostile plaintiff and move the case to a settlement. She is known for those skills.

Ellen is highly skilled as a mediator and strikes a critical balance between being able to "reality test" parties and their positions, while also building rapport with clients and their counsel throughout negotiations. Highly recommend as a mediator for commercial law and litigation disputes, particularly where parties and lawyers may be firmly entrenched in their respective legal/factual positions.

I got one of those advertised divorces that initially was going to cost me $500 and turned out to cost me $2500 in 2012. We had been separated for 7 years. I was in a bad state. I signed an agreement, drafted and reviewed by a 'cheap' attorney and today I am paying $11,500 in alimony and child support for 20 years. I was referred to Cary King. One look at the settlement agreement and he told me that in his 30+ years of Family Law practice, he had never seen a settlement agreement so one-sided, atrocious, unfavorable and not doable (based on my income then and now). My income then, nor my income today, justifies the unreasonable alimony I signed up for. If you are seeking a divorce attorney, trust me.. Have Cary King on your side. His thorough knowledge of Fanily Practice Law is undeniable and you will experience his tenacity for Justice and Fairness as it pertains to your particular case during the initial consult. I am paying him today and I wish had sought him out when I was going through my tribulations that led to my divorce and insane settlement agreement.

I contacted Mr Zucker's firm for a consultation regarding an ADR matter. I expected to hear back from a paralegal or assistant. Surprisingly, I received an email from Mr Zucker advising he would reach out to me later in the day. As promised he telephoned me and listened. He took the time to recommend options and gave me some very good guidance. Even though we both agreed his firm was not the correct fit for my needs he did not rush me off the phone. He answered every one of my questions. It was a refreshing conversation as if I was speaking to someone who was not only in my best interest, but someone I had know for years. He's not one to shy away from thinking outside of the box while keeping his client clearly in the loop. I was rear ended by a limo driver in June of 2012. The policy holder of the limo fraudulently obtained insurance [reported it was a private, NOT FOR HIRE vehicle]: after the collision claim was settled the at fault insured was cancelled and my uninsured motorist coverage took over. I ultimately had a rotary cuff surgery, missed several months of work in recovery, then had to have another surgery on my hand – all related to this claim (over $50,000.) [over a 20 month span.] My employer's insurance policy paid all medical and surgical claims and came after me to reimburse with any settlement from the UIM Coverage. I received short and long term disability benefits (over $80,000.) Both the Medical and the Disability Insurance Companies thought they should get some reimbursement from the UIM. My auto coverage insurance company thought that I was not due the total benefit of $50,000. In UIM coverage because they seemed to think the accident was not severe enough. Jim Stewart not only got auto coverage to pay the full $50,000; but, made it possible for me NOT TO HAVE TO REIMBURSE THE MEDICAL OR DISABILITY INSURANCE COMPANY ONE RED CENT. And, I have not heard a word from them since... This man is a Super “Pit Bull” Attorney who will protect your interest the fullest extent. I have been very pleased and so has everyone I have referred to Jim over the last 12 years that I have known him. Without a doubt, if you want to keep what is yours, what you have coming to you, and stop the competing companies from grabbing all the benefits you have been paying for and rightfully deserve, Jim Stewart is the person to trust your case to . He is simply the best!

What a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Can Do for You

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer, often referred to as a litigation lawyer, specializes in handling legal conflicts between individuals, businesses, or organizations. These lawyers represent clients in civil lawsuits, helping to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation in court. They can assist with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, property disputes, business conflicts, personal injury claims, and more.

If you are involved in a legal conflict and need representation, a dispute lawyer can guide you through the litigation process - from filing or defending against a lawsuit to negotiating settlements or representing you at trial.

When Should I Hire a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer when you're involved in a legal disagreement that cannot be resolved informally and may require legal action. Common reasons to hire a lawyer include:

  • Breach of contract: If someone has failed to fulfill the terms of a contract, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit to seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Whether it's a partnership disagreement, shareholder conflict, or a dispute with a supplier or customer, a lawyer can help resolve business-related issues.
  • Property disputes: If you're involved in a dispute over property ownership, boundary issues, or landlord-tenant conflicts, a lawyer can assist in resolving the matter.
  • Personal injury claims: If you were injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a lawyer can represent you in a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Debt collection or defense: If you're being sued for unpaid debts or need to collect a debt owed to you, a lawyer can represent you in court or negotiate settlements.
  • Employment disputes: If you're involved in an employment-related dispute, such as wrongful termination or discrimination, a lawyer can help you file a claim and represent you in court.
  • Defending against a lawsuit: If you've been sued, a lawyer can defend you against the claims, challenge the evidence, and negotiate a settlement or represent you at trial.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your case is properly managed and that your rights are protected throughout the dispute resolution process.

What Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Do?

A lawsuit or dispute lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients navigate legal conflicts and seek resolution. Their tasks typically include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing the facts and evidence to determine the strength of your case or defense and advising you on the best course of action.
  • Filing lawsuits or responding to lawsuits: If you're the plaintiff, the lawyer will file a lawsuit on your behalf. If you're the defendant, they will respond to the lawsuit and build a defense strategy.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting and reviewing evidence such as contracts, emails, financial records, and witness statements to support your case.
  • Handling negotiations: Negotiating with the opposing party to reach a settlement before the case goes to trial, which can save time and money.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case in court if a settlement cannot be reached, including presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments on your behalf.
  • Exploring alternative dispute resolution (ADR): Suggesting mediation or arbitration as alternatives to a trial, which can be faster and less expensive.
  • Drafting legal documents: Preparing and filing necessary legal documents such as complaints, motions, and responses, as well as drafting settlement agreements if a resolution is reached.

How Are Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyers Paid?

The fee structure for lawsuit or dispute lawyers varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of dispute, and the lawyer's experience. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawsuit lawyers charge by the hour, especially for cases that require extensive preparation, research, and trial work. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Contingency fee: In certain cases, such as personal injury or breach of contract claims, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win the case, usually taking a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as filing a simple lawsuit or representing you in mediation, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: In complex cases or long-term litigation, a lawyer may ask for a retainer, which is an upfront payment to secure their services. The lawyer will then bill against the retainer as they work on the case.

Discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how fees will be handled throughout the case.

How Much Does a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee structure they use. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Lawyers may charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases requiring extensive trial preparation.
  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency basis, expect them to take 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win $100,000 and the contingency fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000.
  • Flat fees: For less complex disputes or tasks, such as drafting a settlement agreement or representing you in mediation, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Retainers: Some lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the case complexity and expected litigation length.

Make sure to ask for a detailed breakdown of fees during your consultation so you know what to expect.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

Before hiring a lawsuit or dispute lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has handled similar disputes and is familiar with the relevant area of law.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether they charge hourly, on a contingency fee basis, or offer flat fees, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and potential challenges.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawsuit / Dispute Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary actions.
  • Look for relevant experience: Review their website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in litigation or dispute resolution.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for feedback on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation can indicate expertise.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Contracts or agreements: Copies of any signed contracts or relevant agreements.
  • Emails and communications: Any written communication between you and the other party.
  • Evidence of the dispute: Receipts, financial records, photos, or witness statements related to the conflict.
  • Timeline of events: A clear chronology of the dispute, including key dates and interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case, the legal process, costs, and strategy.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide you with the best legal advice on how to proceed.
