As a professional engineer in private practice, educator, consultant, and subject matter expert in safety and risk management since 1972, I’ve had an opportunity to provide technical assistance and expert opinions to more than 1,200 lawyers, ranging from sole-practitioners to major national law firms. I only mention this because I believe that few clients know what qualities (beside fees) are truly important when selecting an attorney.
I have almost four decades experience working with attorneys. Personally, I rely on my lifetime learning experience gained while providing administrative law and expert witnessing services when offering my opinions to others looking for an attorney (and on that rare occasion when I need to lawyer). That is, any lawyer (not just the law firm itself) I would recommend or hire must be a good listener, have an excellent professional standing within the legal community, attorneys who love the work more than themselves, and one who will carefully prepare the pleadings, promptly complete discovery, and put the case at issue without needing the court’s probing – then an attorney who wants to get your case in front of the Trier-of-fact and then (utmost importance) be prepared for trail with trial and exhibit binders as well as know the evidence needed to present your case and effectively cross-examine your adversary.
K. Robert “Bob” Gonter is just such an attorney. Very few attorneys listen and understand. Mr. Gonter is one of them. He will listen to you as a person, then make a knowledgeable decision on how to proceed in your best interests, explaining the process along the way. Mr. Gonter did an excellent job representing our corporation and was understanding of our concerns.
Most importantly, he's well respected by fellow attorneys and judges. His stellar reputation and intelligent approach leads to favorable results.
I used to be impressed by descriptions like "aggressive" and theatrical attorneys whose shot gun style ends up more noise than result. But after seeing Mr. Gonter in action, I was convinced his professional and respectful approach separates him from the cookie cutter attorneys in our area. Lots of attorneys will say they "will do this" and "do that" for you, the difference is Mr. Gonter actually DOES whats right and what works. I'm very satisfied as a client.

I was referred to Shin Law Group and Jonathan through a family member that was actually sued by his group due to a car accident (they got 25k for a SCRATCH against my family member) and boy am I happy to say, that things were as smooth as they come using their firm. From personal experience handling a car accident ESPECIALLY against a driver who has no insurance or minimum insurance, I can't recommend getting a lawyer enough. And what a team Shin Law Group has. From quick referrals to chiropractors and other forms of pain management, quick responses by phone and a clear explanation of how things go down after an accident with insurance, look no further than Shin Law Group. I was rear ended back in October 23 and immediately searched for an attorney from a car enthusiast group and was recommended Jonathan from several people. This is the first time I had been in an accident but I already knew I didn't want to deal with insurance or the other party. Jonathan gave me a call the next day and explained the complete process. My wife and I hired Mr. Smits to sue a contractor who negligently remodeled our home. Mr. Smits was thorough and aggressive in his representation of us. He investigated the contractor and learned the contractor was unlicensed, and based on his investigation, Mr. Smits pursued the contractor for fraud. Mr. Smits obtained a judgement against the contractor for every penny we sought and punitive damages as well. Mr. Smits is an excellent attorney and we have recommended him to our business associates and friends.

**Review of Gill Law Group**:
I had an extremely frustrating experience with Gill Law Group and specifically with Raja's office. When I first walked in for a consultation, Raja made big promises, assuring me that he could help with my divorce and even promised to hold my ex in contempt, claiming he would do everything necessary to push the case forward. I felt confident in his assurances.
However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Despite knowing that I didn’t have the financial means to pay upfront, they began accumulating my bill in anticipation of the upcoming hearing. As time went on, their strategy became clear: they were more interested in racking up fees than actually working toward a resolution. They suggested a strategy that was completely counterproductive and ultimately would not help my case.
Just two days before my court hearing, they dropped me, advising me to get a continuance so I could save money, even though I had already paid them for their services. To make matters worse, they continued to bill me during this period, charging me for communications about the strategy they never even followed through with. And then, out of nowhere, an additional $3,900 appeared on my bill. In total, they billed me over $11,000 in one month for services that were not only ineffective but actively harmed my case.
I felt like I was being extorted. The pressure to come up with more money or risk being abandoned at the hearing was beyond unprofessional. They were hired to attend my hearing, not to charge me exorbitant fees for billing-related tasks like writing down appointments. It felt like a shake-down.
After reading through other reviews, I found that many others had similar negative experiences. The only review that truly resonated with my situation was the one that echoed the same frustrations I experienced. If you're considering this firm, I'd strongly recommend you look elsewhere for legal representation.

Fraud! Was awarded a 22K settlement and received fraudulent paperwork claiming Epstein credits of 21K to my ex. The law firm stole 21K. For this you will be disbarred and indicted. Contacted the ex and she said she sent a check to the attorney for 22K. I do not endorse this law firm for anyone seeking legal services. Contacting the California Bar first thing Monday.
