I used Boonswang Law firm on 2 different occasions and they are AWESOME!!! If you need a life insurance lawyer - HIRE this law firm!! They are 10/10!!! Highly recommended. 8-8-24 _______________________________________________________________ I HIGHLY recommend the Boonswang law firm!!!!! The Boonswang Law Firm took on my case when other Lawyers Turned me down and told me I didn’t have a chance with the circumstances surrounding my life insurance claim for my Deceased Brother. Not Boonswang law firm, they told me from the Jump they will accept my case and do all they can to bring it to a successful conclusion and that is exactly what they did. I HIGHLY recommend them if you are battling a life insurance company for the pay out that you are owed. Call the BOONSwang Law firm, they will do all they can to assist you. Their fee is 1/3, but that is better than you getting 0$ from the insurance company (trying to deal with them on your own) when they try to deny your claim unjustly. Attorney Joseph Mattia and Chad Boonswang are awesome!!! I will for sure use them again if I have a dispute with a life insurance company. ***** Pringle Family

After a year dealing with life insurance company declining payout and pushing it back on employer and employer wanting to just pay back what was paid in on life policy was unacceptable. State Department of Finance stated out of their jurisdiction even thou policy was written in the state and apparently prior lawyer did nothing and in the end said didn’t believe there was a chance. Then I found Boonswang Law Firm and had full payout within a month! Yes, within a month! I am so grateful. Dealing with this firm was expedient and flawless. Wish I found them sooner. Grief and grieving is hard and shame on these insurance companies for making it difficult on top of that when our loved ones have passed. THANK YOU BOONSWANG LAW FIRM. If I could give you more than five stars I would.

My children’s father had a life insurance policy through Securion (rip off artists, avoid at all costs). He had cancer and was dying, but kept up his payments. It wasn’t much, but he wanted to leave the kids something. His last payment was returned to him as having been sent to the wrong address though it was sent in the pre-addressed envelope the company provided. When he passed away, the company denied the claim because he’d missed payments. I called Ms. Lee. I didn’t have a lot of hope because it was a very small policy and I didn’t think any attorney would work that case for so little compensation. But it was his dying wish, he’d made his payments faithfully until the company began returning them and even if the money was eaten up in court fees I didn’t want those scam artists to keep it. Ms. Lee took the case, fought for nine months and eventually won. She was paid a little over $3,000 for that time. That comes out to less than minimum wage. She took our case out of kindness and a desire not to allow these rinky dink companies to take advantage of a terminally ill man. She was always available to us, answered all our questions and treated us with compassion and sensitivity throughout. I cannot recommend this lawyer highly enough.

Initially great experience working with Lydia to draft custody doc quickly. But it’s worth noting that she does not have experience with domestic violence or cross jurisdictional custody. Really key items were left out of the custody document which I didn’t realize until almost two years later. When I reached out to her about it, she didn’t respond. There was no way for me to know these items needed to be included— that was her job. This is the type of mistake that means my child will grow up without knowing my family. It’s pretty serious and will cost me a lot of money to fix. If you’re looking for someone with experience protecting you and your family from a high conflict ex, I would recommend paying for a more experienced attorney who will go to bat for you.

Absolutely stellar. It’s more the exception than the rule in this day and age to find an attorney who is passionate, compassionate and truly results driven. Chad Boonswag is that exception profoundly. Hands down he’s the best of the best! Within weeks he had my full face value insurance check plus interest when the insurance company had delayed and put me off for eight months. When one suffers a loss that’s bad enough but when insurers leave you wanting contrary to your loved ones intent and hard earned premiums paid unfortunately you’re not going to be successful without an attorney who isn’t just about his bottom line but about dignity, compassion and truly cares. His team is exemplary as well! Carolina and Zoe are absolutely wonderful! Professional, on the ball and always available for you. Never be afraid to take that step and call their office. Think hard about your loved one wanting you cared for and about after their unfortunate passing. They haven’t a voice when they’re gone to see you’re seen to and provided for. They close their eyes at the last with a sense of peace knowing the insurance is there. For you. For your future. I know from experience how intimidating it can be after a loss and frustrating. Your loved one can no longer fight for you but Mr. Boonswag and his team can and will do. You’ve enough to deal with pick up the phone or fill out the online form. You’ll rest easier. I can’t say enough. If you want a stellar attorney it’s Chad Boonswag whether you live near or far. He’ll do his best for you because he cares.

I have tried to deal with this firm twice. The first in counter I didn’t have all my ducks in a row I personally needed to find more documentation. I have done just that and provided it to the firm. The wonderful “ intake specialist “ who is the gate keeper of the actual attorneys. Calls me half cocked with misinformation at the end of the day in an attempt to tell me my documents clearly state the coverage was changed BoonsWang could not help me. Carolina had chose to misinterpret a statement that was not favorable to my situation, As she had not even taken the effort to read the remaining documents to actually gain understanding the next 30 pages. We tried to have a discussion yet, her tone was as if I was agitating her. She placed the call to me, I knew very quickly she had not even actual reviewed the documents closely. I pointed out to her one of the most important documents Action of Notification, BASIC+B 5X this is after retirement on 2 different documents with different remarks on them pertaining to retirement She put me on hold several minutes and never called me back!!! To explain or be accountable for wasting my time. So there are 30 more pages!!! She never reviewed under a trained professional eye. Caroline only interest was to call me and tell me I was wrong. How did she get to the 14th document without seeing this information on the 4th document or the retirement date on the first document. She was looking for a way to deny my effort to seek counsel!!! I personally don’t have time to waste ! This level of litigation at a firm of this stature they don’t have time to waste either . That’s not my mission to waste my time I have an dead line to me I personally am interested in the details the ones on the document from the OPM office 1st the emails are just supporting the claim and they do support my claim. To make a statement about there being two different policies during employment not true there was an annuity that not the same I just didn’t respond to the comment… FERS/FEGLI they are one the same based on time of service and agency. This is to large of a sum of money for my counsel to not pay attention to the details with half measures done by the support staff, “ Intake specialist “ ( gate keeper) thanks for nothing. I still have to find counsel that will actually pay attention to the details you watsted my time. I am sure she makes it point to have 10 no’s to every 1 case she allows past her. there are some more complexities and it’s not a slam dunk I would need counsel that is sharper than this intake specialist, As there was some other litigation that was favorably tied to I would not recommend wasting your time to get your documents in order to send and number and Caroline can’t even tell you were the personally numbered page was. She did know where this one very misinterpreted statement that was on the 14th of the 1st 15 pages I sent over that all she got… Really…🤔🤨 Thank You Carolina for helping me dodge this bullet.

What a Life Insurance Lawyer Can Do for You

A life insurance lawyer specializes in legal matters related to life insurance policies and claims. They assist beneficiaries, policyholders, and insurance companies in navigating the complexities of life insurance law. These lawyers help clients with issues such as denied or delayed claims, policy disputes, beneficiary designations, fraud allegations, and contract interpretation. By leveraging their expertise, life insurance lawyers aim to ensure that clients receive the benefits they are entitled to under their policies.

Whether you're facing a denied claim, need assistance with policy interpretation, or are dealing with disputes over beneficiary rights, a life insurance lawyer can provide the legal guidance and representation you need to protect your interests.

When Should I Hire a Life Insurance Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a life insurance lawyer in the following situations:

  • Denied or Delayed Claims: If an insurance company has denied or unreasonably delayed payment of a life insurance claim, a lawyer can help challenge the decision and pursue the benefits owed.
  • Disputed Beneficiary Designations: If there is a dispute over who is the rightful beneficiary of a life insurance policy, a lawyer can help resolve the conflict through legal means.
  • Policy Interpretation Issues: If you're unsure about the terms and conditions of a life insurance policy, a lawyer can interpret the contract language and explain your rights and obligations.
  • Allegations of Fraud or Misrepresentation: If an insurance company accuses the policyholder or beneficiary of fraud or misrepresentation, a lawyer can defend against these claims.
  • Bad Faith Insurance Practices: If an insurer acts in bad faith by not honoring the terms of the policy, a lawyer can hold the company accountable under applicable laws.
  • Contestability Period Disputes: If a claim is denied based on issues arising during the contestability period, a lawyer can examine the validity of the denial.
  • Estate Planning and Tax Considerations: A lawyer can provide advice on how life insurance policies fit into estate planning and any tax implications.

What Does a Life Insurance Lawyer Do?

A life insurance lawyer offers a range of legal services, including:

  • Claims Assistance: Help beneficiaries file claims correctly and efficiently to avoid unnecessary delays or denials.
  • Appealing Denied Claims: Review the reasons for denial and prepare an appeal by gathering evidence, drafting legal arguments, and negotiating with the insurance company.
  • Litigation: Represent clients in court if disputes cannot be resolved through negotiation, advocating for their rights to receive policy benefits.
  • Policy Analysis: Examine policy documents to interpret terms, conditions, exclusions, and riders, providing clarity on coverage and benefits.
  • Dispute Resolution: Mediate or negotiate settlements in disputes over beneficiary designations or policy interpretations.
  • Defense Against Fraud Allegations: Defend clients against accusations of fraud or misrepresentation made by insurance companies.
  • Bad Faith Claims: Pursue legal action against insurers who engage in bad faith practices, seeking compensation for damages.
  • Estate Planning Support: Advise on the integration of life insurance policies into estate plans, including beneficiary designations and tax considerations.

How Are Life Insurance Lawyers Paid?

Life insurance lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Contingency Fee: The lawyer receives a percentage (usually between 25% and 40%) of the amount recovered from the insurance claim. This means you pay nothing upfront, and the lawyer only gets paid if you receive a settlement or judgment.
  • Hourly Rate: The lawyer charges an hourly fee for their services, with rates typically ranging from $200 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
  • Flat Fee: For specific services like reviewing a policy or drafting a demand letter, some lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer Fee: An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills their hourly rate. Retainer amounts vary based on the anticipated workload.
  • Payment Plans: Some lawyers offer flexible payment options to make their services more affordable.

It's important to discuss payment arrangements during your initial consultation to understand how fees and expenses will be handled.

How Much Does a Life Insurance Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a life insurance lawyer varies based on several factors:

  • Contingency Fees: If the lawyer works on a contingency basis, you typically pay no upfront fees. The lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the recovery. For example, if you recover $100,000 and the contingency fee is 30%, the lawyer would receive $30,000.
  • Hourly Rates: If charged hourly, total costs depend on the time required to resolve the case. For instance, if the lawyer charges $300 per hour and works 20 hours on your case, the cost would be $6,000.
  • Flat Fees: Services like policy reviews or simple consultations may cost between $500 and $2,000.
  • Additional Costs: Be aware of other expenses such as court filing fees, costs for obtaining documents, expert witness fees, and administrative expenses, which may be billed separately.

Always request a detailed fee agreement to understand all potential costs involved.

  • Medical Records: If applicable, any medical records that may be relevant to the case.
  • Questions and Concerns: Prepare a list of questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer's experience.

By being thoroughly prepared, you enable the lawyer to assess your situation effectively and provide tailored legal advice to address your life insurance concerns.
