I contacted Wade Law Group for assistance with a small claims suit. I have worked with Brett and Dave McGraw, both have been dedicated, helpful, and have gone above and beyond to meet my expectations. Dave has provided effective legal advice and detailed explanations about the process as well as developed a plan for my hearing. Dave has gave me confidence in my abilities and quelled my anxiety. If I ever need representation or consultations again in the future, Wade Law Group will always be my first and only choice.

I hired Mr. Wade to expedite my divorce after being with an ill-prepared attorney for 1 1/2 years in which I didn't get past the discovery stage. I got quick results with Mr. Wade and my divorce was finalized after 4 months. His support staff quickly responded to all my emails and returned my calls. Mr. Wade is very experienced and knowledgeable and found an error in a filing by my ex-spouse's attorney and took immediate action on her behalf which saved me money and didn't prolong the divorce proceedings. He is involved in all the cases in his firm. Every Wednesday he conducts a meeting with his associate attorneys to consult and monitor their progress and provides them with his expert advice when necessary. Hopefully, I won't need Mr. Wade in the future but if I do, I would retain his services again because I was very pleased with his work and professionalism. Patricia Cent

Mr. Janke has worked for me off and on for over two decades. Mr. Janke's only personality fault is that he is too honest for his own good. Countless times he has told me or a patient I have referred to him, "You can spend less on me if you do such and such." When I or the patient follow that advice he makes less money, we save, and we still win! How many attorneys would even think of keeping your costs down? Mr. Janke represented me and advised me during may darkest hours when everyone else thought I was a goner. He testified in court as my attorney (this is soo rare) and was the consummate professional when the other side was acting out their emotional meltdowns over realizing that they were losing. Mr. Janke represented me in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and although we lost on a technicality we could do do nothing about, Mr. Janke managed, with help from foolishness from the other side, to get the judges to state on the record, but for the technicality that prevented us going forward, it was clear I was grievously wronged by the defendants and they should be ashamed of themselves for what they did. He even set up the other side to admit they were completely wrong and I was completely wronged by them during oral arguments before the 9th Circuit Judges.. I've never heard of any anything like this happening before. In short, Mr. Janke is a force to be reckoned with. That's why he is our chief counsel (very part time I'm happy to say) for my wife's business, Online Image.

This woman is the best. She is efficient, has great follow through and tenaciously goes after any mishandling of family Trust money. She has been a blessing. We put 100% of our faith in her and have never looked back. She is strong and communicative and --though she is cautious and never guarantees a 'win'-- she emits confidence and forges ahead with the word 'success' as her goal.

Wade Law Group’s handling of my business partnership dispute was a disaster from start to finish. I sought their help when I was being pushed out and needed to recover my equity. Despite providing all the necessary documentation upfront, including the operating agreement and financial statements, their incompetence quickly became apparent. For seven weeks, my attorney at Wade Law Group engaged in fruitless exchanges, sending threatening letters based on California law and drafting a lawsuit complaint. Only after all this time did I discover that my attorney hadn’t even read the operating agreement—a crucial document in any partnership dispute. This neglect led us to almost violate the agreement by bypassing mandatory mediation and filing the lawsuit in the wrong state. Predictably, my former business partner exploited these errors, leaving me with a much weakened case and a significant financial loss. After incurring over five figures in legal fees, I made the decision to terminate our relationship. I requested a meeting to discuss the situation, but my attorney not only ignored my request but also responded rudely when I followed up. Eventually, the firm’s owner reached out and offered a partial refund for drafting the complaint in the wrong state. However, the amount he offered was far less than what I had actually been billed, forcing me to go line by line through the invoices and finding the correct amount was five times higher than what he claimed. I then posted a review of my experience on Yelp, and the owner reached out and offered me a full refund of over $8K in exchange for removing the review and signing a contract agreeing not to post additional reviews about my experience with the firm. When I pointed out that this felt unethical and possibly illegal and proposed that I edit the review to give credit for the refund, he withdrew the offer, falsely claiming that I had rejected it.

These people are rude. And they can't read. I set up a consultation with them, but they canceled before even talking to me and told me that my trial is in three weeks when it's not. They didn't read anything about it, have the nerve to not even meet with me or have a discussion, followed with "best of luck on everything" which is just more insulting, absolutely insulting. i am sorry I called.

Tom just helped me through a difficult negotiation. Throughout the process he took the time to explain everything in a straightforward language that made sense. I retained Tom to draft my will and set up a living trust, and he was always prepared, and provided strong counsel, which I think made the process quite easy. I then retained him to help me work through an unrelated beneficiary matter where we had little information to go on. He was able to quickly understand both the legal and the emotional issues, and was a strong but calm advocate with the number of parties involved. Things resolved in a very positive manner. He is personable, highly ethical and mindful of goals and time. He communicated frequently, something that I highly value. I recommend him without reservation.

Desperately seeking help not necessarily litigation but validation that my HOA w/7 units is fraudulently assessing the community $30k each. According to Willy it's ok to falsify documents, refuse members the to rightfully inspect financials, hold ZERO elections, bring on board members in executive sessions, conduct business outside meetings; making decisions for the other 4 members without consent, doctoring budgets to hide money to pay for illegal construction. His advice was for me; either make it a hobby to see all the bad things the HOA board is doing or stop the crusade get out ASAP. He was more concerned about others not selling or getting the value of their unit than to rightfully preserve the integrity of our community. He never considered anything other than litigation, didn't entertain an IDR or ADR both of which I already requested from the board and was ignored. He insisted that our members would be responsible to pay for all litigation fees, plus, not even mentioning the D&O insurance that boards must have or piercing the vail of protection. He insisted I sell my unit, pay the erroneous fee and get out, protecting a a putative board that hasn't had elections for over 10 years, and refuses to have them. The management put 3 liens on my house, charged late fees all without the votes of the board in an open meeting, kept all fees for themselves ; nearly $7k for. These were just a small sample of violations, according to Willy, not viable enough to even offer any help other than sell, pay, and get out. I have resided in this community for over 20 years and have never felt so disrespected not only here in this community but by the people that claim to help us trying to protect our investment. He is deplorable

During the Fall of 2022, our condo was damaged during an accident that set fire to our building. The situation quickly became convoluted with having to interact with the HOA and multiple insurance companies, none of who were trying to assist this displaced homeowner. My wife and I contacted The Law Office of William Stanger and received the guidance and support that we needed to help us navigate through such a terrible scenario. Bill really took the time to learn about our situation, provided excellent advice that helped us save some serious money, and informed us about several key factors that we would not have known about otherwise (despite hours of research). I am a bit late in writing this review, but I'm just truly grateful for the help. It made a difference when it mattered.

My property was damaged by the fire in September 2020. The electrical work completed by the contractor were extremely dangerous for us to move in because of their very poor workmanship. So, I was looking for legal options immediately and was truly grateful for the representation of the Law Office William Stanger. Mr. Stanger was capable of providing me with brilliant legal advice throughout my case, and his professional expertise also allowed him to settle the best outcome for us, especially the contract agreement I signed in August 2021. In addition, my friends and my family like the letters and agreements he had written; they are straightforward and so easy to understand.  Indeed, while working with Mr. Stanger for the past several months, he had shown his kindness, honesty, and patience, and he was also very joyful to work with. He took the time to answer all the questions and concerns that I have had over the past several months; so that I can sleep peacefully at night. In the future, I would definitely use him again if I need his services and highly recommend Mr. Stanger to my friends and family members in need of his amazing representation!

We can NOT say enough GREAT things about Douglas Barnes as a TRUST Attorney. Mr Barnes took care of our family TRUST and gave us ideas and things to think about. We had saved a "dime" YEARS ago and had some "good deal bafoon" write up a so called "Trust" that ended up not worth the paper it was written on and Attorney Douglas Barnes was able to fix this wrong, make it CORRECT, and he was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! Attorney Douglas Barnes is also an attorney who can go to court if our family Trust is ever questioned and he can defend our wishes, where OTHER Trust Attorneys can not always do. Something to think about when planning your Estate and wishes for after you are no longer here! GREAT GREAT GREAT hands to be in at the Offices of Douglas Barnes!

I had an unsatisfactory experience in estate planning with Mr. Barnes and his office. I don't feel he invested effort enough to understand my circumstances, but responded in a "cookie cutter" way with generic advice that turned out to be inappropriate for me. The estate package he crafted was far too complicated and not only failed to achieve my goals but in part contradicted and undercut them. Quality of staff work was very poor: copy and paste errors in estate documents; spelled my name wrong in documents. I found him to be unresponsive to questions either by phone or email - until my new lawyer contacted him, which received immediate response. Please note that I don't question Mr. Barnes' integrity or knowledge. Rather that he didn't work hard enough to understand what I wanted; communicated poorly; and at the time his office staff were really a problem (maybe this has been fixed since then, I can't say). By contrast I'm profoundly happy with the attorney I replaced him with.

What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
