If you're seeking excellent representation for a dog bite claim, I highly recommend Curcio Law of Alexandria. Rakin Hamad, Esquire, provided outstanding legal services and ensured I received fair compensation for a serious dog bite injury. Mr. Hamad was thorough, clearly explained the legal process, and promptly followed up on all action items. If you’re dealing with a personal injury related to a dog bite, Curcio Law and Mr. Hamad are the team to trust.

A relative was a pedestrian involved in a car crash- they ended up needing 5 days of hospitalization, about 6 months of rehabilitation, dental work, multiple initial surgeries, and follow-up surgeries. The bills were huge, multiple insurance companies needed to be coordinated, lawsuits and court filings needed to be handled, this was way beyond our capabilities. We needed a personal injury attorney- professionals who do this all the time. After several interviews, we went with Curcio Law, and that was the right choice. Justin Curcio took care of everything, made important suggestions and gave critical advice. Ultimately, everything was handled remotely, we didn't need to go to court, and we got every possible penny from the defendant and insurance companies due to Curcio's negotiations. Since the relative was a minor, Curcio was even able to structure the settlement so that it could grow tax-free until they are an adult- that's huge. I have nothing but appreciation for the job they did. Strongly recommended.

I had a very unfortunate accident happen to me in April of 2023 while at the gym, when a mirror that I was stretching in front of fell off the wall and shattered on me. Rakin was able to take the details of a very odd case and get me a settlement that I was very satisfied with in the span of about a year. He explained everything in a way I understood and was very good at communicating when progress was made in my case. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to settle a personal injury claim.

I engaged Kylie Newsom of Moore, Christoff, & Siddiqui, to represent me as the Plaintiff to argue a civil litigation case concerning negligence in a dog attack. Kylie made an incisive examination of the facts, and questioned witnesses in court with precision and poise that resulted in a favorable ruling. I could not have been more pleased with Kylie’s diligence and heartily recommend her legal services.

Emily Sripinyo is a Legal Superstar! 🌟 Emily Sripinyo truly went above and beyond in reviewing my prenup. Despite juggling a busy schedule with other court cases, she made sure to dedicate ample time and attention to my needs. The prenup, originally drafted by my fiancée's lawyer, was a daunting 37 pages long, filled with complex legal jargon. Emily was a beacon of clarity and support, consistently reminding me that my fiancée and I are on the same team. She meticulously sifted through the document, eliminating unnecessary terms and provisions, and brilliantly condensed it to a much more manageable 24 pages. Her explanations were clear and thorough, making what seemed like an overwhelming task feel completely manageable. Emily's dedication, expertise, and personable approach made the entire process so much easier for me. I am incredibly grateful for her outstanding work and highly recommend her to anyone in need of legal assistance. Emily Sripinyo is truly the best! 🙌✨

Exceptional Representation: Kylie I can't express enough how grateful my roommate and I are for having Kylie represent us during our potential eviction ordeal. From the outset, Kylie's affordability, coupled with her exceptional communication skills, put us at ease. Throughout the entire process, she made sure we understood every step and procedure involved, ensuring transparency and clarity. Her dedication to our case was evident, and she went above and beyond to ensure a smooth resolution. Thanks to Kylie, what could have been a stressful experience turned into a manageable situation. We highly recommend her services to anyone in need of reliable legal representation. My roommate and I are young women with little experience of legal proceedings. I promise you won’t regret your decision!

Donne Colton handled my very difficult divorce with wisdom and integrity. He did not waste time or money while he focused on solutions - both in negotiations and in court. Donne Colton is highly respected by other divorce attorneys and Fairfax County Courts - both the judges and court personnel. He speaks well, does not engage in frivolous communications, and searches for solutions to divorce problems. Donne's advice is consistently based upon research facts, well thought out from all perspectives, and ultimately proves to be the most probable outcome. I hope never to need a divorce attorney again, but sincerely recommend Donne Colton as my first and best choice for a divorce attorney.

I began working with Donne in 2013, and he has been an amazing lawyer for my family.  He is hard-working, smart, caring, and dedicated to his clients.  Over the years, and through multiple custody cases, he has advocated for the interests of my family, both through attempts at negotiation, and when negotiation did not work, through adept litigating skills in the courtroom.  Donne is well-known in the court system, and is able to adapt and mold his legal arguments to successfully win cases.  In addition, he is also an honest and truthful man.  He tells me what he honestly believes about the situation/case and what is realistic to expect as a result in the court system, and he doesn't shy away from saying that a particular road, which would give him hours of billable time, is not the best for our family.  He goes above and beyond what we pay him for, and we believe that part of the reason we are in the happy place we are in our lives is because of his hard work, dedication and commitment to what he does. I would whole-heartedly recommend him and his services.

Donne Colton was referred to me by a therapist who provides court testimony regarding the welfare of children in divorce cases. I sought the therapist's attorney recommendations because I wanted an attorney who had earned a stellar reputation for negotiating and writing divorce and custody agreements in the best interest of children, and I got that and much more when I hired Donne to represent me in my contested divorce in 2015-2016. My custody case was extremely complicated and contentious, and Donne did an outstanding job of navigating me through it. I worked with him and with his excellent paralegal, Margie Madsen, for a solid year. When I was researching attorneys and collecting recommendations, a high-powered attorney connected to a family member of mine sent her an email saying that his divorce attorney "was the best thing about my divorce." I would wholeheartedly say this about Donne and Margie. The divorce was the most difficult, frightening, and stressful experience of my life, and I was continually grateful and glad to have Donne and Margie expertly guiding me through it. Donne has a great deal of personal and professional integrity. He was everything I wanted in an attorney--he's knowledgeable, an excellent negotiator, very good with the myriad details that divorce entails, always accessible, a terrific writer (he wrote all of the agreements for my divorce), and he represented me very well, in court, in documents, in emails, and in phone calls with my ex-husband's attorney. He's honest, ethical, easy to talk to, trustworthy, fair, and extremely hardworking. He worked through the night (and into the wee hours) when necessary when we got down to the wire negotiating my custody and property settlements with my ex-husband's attorney, and achieved excellent agreements that enabled my ex-husband and I to settle both matters out of court, without having to leave them up to a trial judge. These same agreements have helped me navigate challenges I've had with my ex-husband in the many months since our divorce was finalized. The agreements provide a solid foundation for me to refer to, and excellent boundaries for us to live within. I honestly can't think of any area in which Donne fell short of my needs or expectations. I feel very fortunate that he was able to take my case, as I could not imagine having had a better attorney to work with.

Carolyn is very responsive and attentive. Because of her experience, my case had the best possible outcome. She's very witty and logical and that's helpful during this stressful situation called divorce. I would not want to wish divorce on anyone, but if you need a lawyer who really understands your situation, has a cool head on her shoulders, and uses humor to help de-escalate the stress, hire her. I would recommend her to any of my friends who need legal advice or who are headed for divorce.

I wish my review could have been favorable; however, Spiggle has made this impossible! The Spiggle Law Firm charges premium prices and provides substandard legal documents. On November 14, 2023, I hired and paid Spiggle $4,000.00 for the trust. They may have called me or emailed me three to four times between November through January, which I why I was confused when I was billed $2,000 on December 18, 2023, and another $2,000 on January 18, 2024. EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS between November and January and they had done nothing, except remind me to provide the information to file the charge. I provided the majority of the initial information, basically a brain dump, which was used in the initial charge. However, when Spiggle combined my document with their template, it appears they didn't include entire sentences, or they merged my sentences with theirs incorrectly, or merged/added sentences non-sequentially, resulting in a lack of flow, riddled with errors. That legal document was sent to EEOC. Fast forward to the rebuttal; I spent MY summer writing my rebuttal based on the voluminous template provided by Spiggle, and once again when Spiggle combined my document with theirs, it was a mess. I corrected the majority of the errors, others I pointed out to them when I returned the document; edits went back-and-forth a few times. As part of my exhibits I included personal videos, an extremely difficult decision to make, but Spiggle felt they were important as well. AFTER my rebuttal and exhibits were submitted to the EEOC, Spiggle then informed me that EEOC's portal couldn't handle the size of my videos. I cannot believe I'm the first of Spiggle's clients that this has happened to! Bottom line, my videos didn't accompany my rebuttal, although they were referenced throughout the rebuttal several times. Upon receiving a final copy of the rebuttal, needless to say, I was shocked to see that Spiggle referenced a different client/person by name in the body of my rebuttal letter, which was sent to the EEOC! In the meantime, I received an email reminding me of my signed agreement to keep $2K in the trust, it was at 0 balance, and I needed to replenish it immediately. I then learned that I was going to receive an invoice for approximately $6K. I requested an itemized invoice and a pause in billable hours while I reviewed the invoice. The invoice I received was not six thousand, but $7,007.00, and many line items listed countless hours of either drafting, reviewing, or revising the rebuttal, as well as several references regarding the video exhibits. This was very upsetting, not that I received an invoice, but by the excessive number of hours billed. The next business day, I received an email from Spiggle closing my case and providing me with an updated invoice, increasing the amount I owed. They close my case at an extremely sensitive and critical point in the process because I questioned their invoice! That certainly doesn't look or feel like the core values of Communicating with Compassion and Empathy. I will be filing a fee dispute through VA State Bar.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
