I am a Father and my daughter wanted to live with me and attend school closer to my home (I wanted to enroll her into private school) so that would mean I would need to become the primary parent of residence. I thought it would be impossible to get that changed because I also have a career as a firefighter so my work schedule rotates and its 24 hour shifts. I contacted Robyn and she was upfront and honest provided me with possible outcomes. Robyn was outstanding! She had to do the work of two attorneys because the defendants’ attorney would not submit paperwork to the court in a timely manner and that would’ve slowed the process. The case went to trial and having the experienced attorney really showed! I am now the primary parent of residence my daughter and I couldn’t be happier. She always answered my calls, emails and was on time. Both parents were found to be fit by the judge yet a change of custody was still granted in my favor.

Evan & His team are amazing & definitely passionate about their defense. They listen attentively & respond with compassion and passion. As well as care about the well being of who they are representing with great results. If you ever find yourself in a legal bind call Evan and his team, the peace that I had while dealing with something that could have easily brought me down because not everyone who is charged is guilty, the team was definitely sent from a pure place. Thank you so much to everyone at the office for my freedom, peace of mind, and Joy. Im forever grateful and highly recommend.

I hired Bruce Matez on two occasions over the last several years. The first was a contentious divorce and then, when I was faced with alimony renegotiations a few years later, I was confident calling Bruce again. He handled both situations very professionally -- he carefully explained options to me, provided his expert opinion, but did not pressure me in any direction. His firm is efficient and very responsive to clients' needs. I am grateful I had him in my corner during those difficult times.

Bruce is very down to earth and will give you his best estimate of what is about to happen each step of the way. He is not a 'yes' man; although he is aware he is working for you, his honesty shines through even when it isn't the answer you were hoping for. I found the details of a difficult divorce handled professionally and meticulously and have used Bruce and his firm many times since for follow up motions and sound advice. I was more than pleased with the outcome each time and would highly recommend his services.

I was recommended to Annmarie Jensen by a friend. I am so happy I had her to handle my divorce case. Mostly everything was done through email and over the phone do to covid, including my divorce hearing. She made it so easy. She listened and was very understanding. She helped me get through the most overwhelming time in my life. She really went to bat for me and got me the most favorable outcome. I have since recommended 2 of my friends to her. Thank you again for everything!!

I sued my former employer for unpaid commissions and though I really thought I'd win, my lawyer kept warning me that it would be almost a year before we would even get to trial and, if we won, it would take even longer to get my money. We went to the mediation only because it was court-ordered with the intention of leaving after an hour. I was stunned that I walked out three hours later with a settlement agreement in hand and was paid nearly what I demanded by the end of the month. My lawyer was as surprised as I was and we both think it was due to her. She was amazing.

I was fortunate enough to have Ms. Katz represent me when I received a traffic violation in beautiful Camden, NJ. Initially, I had imagined that with a couple of slick manoeuvres, vehemently sticking to the 'your version vs mine ' and carrying a rabbit's foot I might be able to catch a break. Thankfully, I abandoned my original plans and had the good sense to consult Ms. Katz. The world of law and courts is like proverbially trying to walk into Mordor barefoot. After having responded with a Ms. Katz - recommended one word answer of " Yes" your honor , I had walked away without any points and having paid only 1/4 of the prescribed fine. Due to the lead implants on my right foot, I was certain that any more points would mean that my license would be suspended, I was pinching myself when the verdict was handed down. Ms. Katz had expertly negotiated with the State attorney, who I imagine gladly eats puppies with a side of lava for breakfast. I would highly recommend Dana Katz. Let her deal with Sauron.

I had a highly disappointing experience with Gary Borger while seeking legal assistance for my divorce during my deployment. Given the critical nature of my situation and the challenges of handling legal matters from afar, I expected a level of professionalism and responsiveness that Mr. Borger unfortunately did not provide. From the beginning, communication with Mr. Borger was problematic. Despite numerous attempts to reach out via email, I found him to be extremely unresponsive. It often took days, if not weeks, to receive a reply, and when he did respond, his messages were curt and dismissive. This lack of communication was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional, especially considering the time-sensitive nature of legal proceedings. As someone deployed and serving my country, I needed a lawyer who could be both understanding and accommodating of my unique circumstances. Unfortunately, Mr. Borger's approach felt very selective and indifferent. He did not seem to prioritize my case or show the necessary empathy and support that one would expect from a legal professional. This was in stark contrast to other lawyers who were far more cooperative and helpful. Mr. Borger's dismissive attitude and lack of availability created additional stress and uncertainty during an already challenging time. It became clear that he was not invested in providing the level of service and support that I required. His lack of responsiveness made it difficult to progress with my case, leaving me feeling neglected and undervalued as a client. For anyone in a similar situation, especially those who are deployed, I would caution against relying on Gary Borger for legal representation. The combination of his poor communication, unprofessional demeanor, and selective responsiveness made my experience with him deeply unsatisfactory. In conclusion, my interactions with Gary Borger were marked by frustration and disappointment. I would not recommend his services to anyone looking for a reliable, responsive, and empathetic lawyer, particularly those dealing with the complexities of legal matters while serving abroad.

Gary Borger ESQ was a fantastic attorney for my divorce. He is a strong advocate of mediation and ensuring that things are equitable. He leads with a steady hand and is extremely knowledgable and plugged in with the community. I never needed to see his "bulldog" side, so I cant comment on that aspect of his practice...but I was overall very happy with my experience has his client.

Too expensive for our needs. Charged $8000 just for two meetings and some emails, yet he produced no engineering report. Promised a lot, but I think he was expecting a lot more money down the road and yet had produced nothing. Unsuitable lawyer for small private home owner Sandy case involving less than 40K. No return on investment. We ended up having to switch to another lawyer after a month and he wouldn't return our money even though he had not produced anything yet. Sent us emails blaming us for everything. Very unpleasant experience.

I thought this might be the answer to my problem. A Sandy contractor bailed half way through the project and kept insurance money of thirty thousand dollars. I should have never selected a corporate lawyer. I spend over five thousand dollars on two meetings and reading 10 emails, and they delivered nothing after a month, claiming they needed more time. In over a month, they failed to inform me that the contractor was already broke and had other lawsuits against him. I found this out for free on line. I don't know what I paid five thousand dollars for, I had to get another lawyer to handle by special court lawsuit negotiations and answer the contractor's small counterclaim. Big mistake.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
