Michael's thoughtful approach and dedication made me feel confident throughout the process. He gave me the kind of attention and expertise you would expect from a big firm, but with the personal touch and care of a local lawyer. Even after the case was done, he followed up to make sure I was taken care of. A relentless advocate with a heart—highly recommend!

Michael Reinhardt is a fantastic attorney to whom I will be forever grateful. He is friendly, caring, capable and experienced. I messed up badly several year’s ago and was caught red-handed, in the act. I was arrested, jailed, and charged with a felony criminal offense that carried a mandatory minimum sentence of eighteen months imprisonment. The outcome - guilty - seemed inevitable, and I dreaded the consequences. Michael Reinhardt represented me during the many court appearances I had to make. He explained the various stages of the judicial proceedings, and contacted me regularly to discuss progress and the strategy he was following to best defend me. Remarkably, after much consultation and discussions, Michael managed to have the charges against me dropped altogether - to my immense relief of not just me, but my entire family, all of whom had been living under a cloud of anxiety. I cannot thank Michael enough for literally giving me back my life. I’ve changed a lot since then and intend to stay far away from trouble in the future. Although I hope not to need Michael’s help in the same way again, I know who to call if ever I do!

I worked with Karla, she was very easy to work with and always available to me when I needed her whether through phone or email. She knew exactly how to get me what I needed. She got me everything I was looking for without us even having to go to court it was AWESOME!! I strongly recommend her to everyone.

I hired Jessica to assist me with a high-conflict divorce case. Unfortunately, her assistant, who repeatedly asked the same questions seemingly to inflate the bills, was primarily responsible for my case. During the first hearing, Jessica appeared unprepared and unfamiliar with my case details. She struggled to counter my ex-husband's attorney's claims with my evidence, seemingly unaware of them. She frequently referred to the opposing attorney as "sister," which was unprofessional. None of my evidence was effectively used in my favor, and she even forgot my name. I was rushed into signing a document without reading it, with Jessica insisting we were short on time and I should trust her. This was a costly mistake. I spent over $50,000 for her to advocate for the other party, not for me. I would not recommend her services.

Steven worked with me diligently during a horrible divorce and custody battle. Not only did he work closely with my other attorney, but he also showed something very few attorney's do, compassion. He was so dedicated to making sure my family and the best outcome was what we got. He was able to truly, with my other attorney, my voice to be heard in court and went above and beyond to communicate and meet with me, even if it was out of the way for him. I have never had such a pleasant experience with Attorney Ballard in my corner with my other counsel and it was great to see someone truly care about justice and what it right vs wrong. I cannot thank him enough for his efforts and highly recommend him to anyone who needs someone that will fight for you and what matters most. He also has a great blog that is worth reading that gives you a great insight to just what kind of attorney he is and that is also what put my mind at ease when going in to trial during my divorce.

My life would be drastically different had I not employed the compassionate, understanding, effective, pragmatic, good humored, wise and tough advocacy services of Steven Ballard. Against the odds of a slowly changing court system that has traditionally favored only mothers as able and willing caregivers Steven blazed a trail that will afford my children the good fortune of being with their father a fair equitable and exact 50% of their lives. From hopeless despair through humble and triumphant success Steven was there every step of the way providing whatever I needed legally and emotionally while staying true and focused on the big picture with integrity. Regardless of gender he will stand up for you and for what is just and fair no matter your circumstance.

Attorney Ballard is sensitive, caring, intelligent, talented, congenial and so much more. He stood for me with dignity in difficult circumstances and challenged injustice. Regardless of the adversity he remained true. I have recently been reviewing his work and found that it was far more impressive than it seemed at the time. He subtlety wove into his work a richness that is uncommon. Having him on your side is to have integrity in your corner.

If you’re reading this review, you and I probably had quite a bit in common at one point in life. If this is true, hopefully my testimony can help you with your decision making process. When I first made my decision to cut ties with my wife I met with a few different lawyers before making my final decision to go with Mansur Law. The confidence that they displayed in their ability to protect my assets and I made choosing them to represent me a no brainer. Sure enough they delivered 10 fold. Being Active Duty military, the dichotomy of my situation went from complicated to a living nightmare, fast. My spouse attempted to go after my career by means of slander and false allegations. Karla was there with me every step of the way and ensured that my career was protected along with my assets. Her emotional investment in my particular situation during some of worst days was the affirmation that I needed to know that I made the best decision when choosing someone to represent me. In the end, I was more than satisfied with the outcome and I was even more grateful for everything Karla and her team did for me. A special thanks to Meghan and Joleen for all their work for me as well. If you’re on fence about choosing a lawyer just ask yourself would you bring a knife to a gun fight? With keeping my personal experience in mind, If I had equate Karla’s services to a firearm, she would without a shadow of a doubt be the best weapon in the arsenal. I hope you make the right decision. Good luck

Attorney Karla Mansur was my divorce layer. I recommend her especially if your divorce case requires limited assistance. She provides flexible service that fits your special needs, she is honest and charges fairly, and is understanding and considerate. Before I hired her, my husband and I already reached terms on separation agreement. Since I was overseas then and would not be able to return for the divorce, I needed a lawyer who could convert our draft agreement to a legal document, and present it to the court on my behalf. When I had an interview with her on the phone, Karla happily agreed to take my case, at a cost much lower than those for cases needing a lawyer’s intervention to reach agreement. I was also impressed by her honesty. When I asked whether she would charge extra if I paid my legal fees with credit card, she said charging extra amount is illegal. And she promised to get my divorce certificate from the court for me when she visited the court after the divorce was over, and mail it to my address abroad. Before Karla, one of the lawyers I interviewed claimed to have been a divorce lawyer for 19 years and go to the court all the time. She told me that she only accepts personal checks for payments, and if I paid with credit card, she would need to charge an extra percentage. She also said that she had to make special trips to and from the court to pick up my divorce certificate, which would be charged at more than $300 an hour (maybe $400 or $450, I do not remember the exact amount). Wait a second, did not you just say you go to the court all the time? Can’t you just pick it up when you are at the court on behalf of other clients? I did not dare to hire this lawyer because she would have all kinds of reasons to pile up the bill. Since my husband and I agreed to execute the agreement terms before submitting documents to the court, I expected my divorce to end about three months after hiring Karla. However, my husband lied endlessly and created all kinds of hassles during the process, which entailed more than 5 months’ unnecessary delays. Karla had been very patient and understanding along the way. I felt that she was behind me all the time, and her support and considerateness made the frustrating and lengthy process a little more tolerable. I also want to thank Joleen, the paralegal, for her conscientious work. She kept a record of all the documents related to my case, scanned and emailed electronic copies to me before mailing them to me, in case anything got lost during international shipments.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
