I had a mistameanir in virginia on my way home to Illinois, was not aware of the sudden change of speed limit, when i was presented with a mistameanir and a court date, of course i was devastated. I reached out to Miss Kimberly Phillips, and Esha, and i have to admit Esha was caring and professional with all the information i needed, and Miss Kimberly phillips took care of case at court and bought the mistameanir to a ticket violation. The fine was bought down to 250.00 and i did not have to return to virginia. I really do not think i will ho back after the scare, but i highly recommend Miss Kimberly and Esha, they know what they are doing, and truely took my case in there hands. Thank You Miss Kimberly and Miss Esha from the Bostom of my heart. I appreciate you both. If you need a great lawyer from out of state, kimberly phillips is the lawyer to ask for!

I highly recommend Maureen Danker. Maureen is up front, honest and compassionate. From the beginning of my contentious custody case Maureen set my expectations. Maureen was very transparent in terms of cost. She was open and honest regarding the strength of my case to ensure I had the opportunity to weigh risk verses reward at every turn. When I made the decision to litigate my custody case, Maureen was all in. Her professionalism and knowledge in the court room was impeccable. I had several family members and friends in attendance, and they were in awe. My case was NOT a slam dunk. As we waited for the judge’s decision at the conclusion of trial, I was at peace knowing that no matter the outcome, Maureen left no stone unturned, nothing on the table and presented the best case possible. The judgment went 100% our way which is a true testament to Maureen’s superior litigation skills. My equitable distribution case was settled out of court and again, Maureen set my expectations and gave me the information I needed to make decisions. Her outstanding negotiation skills provided me a settlement that exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for an attorney who is honest, compassionate and not looking to spend your money unnecessarily, Maureen Danker is the attorney for you.

Cory represented me through a very challenging and contentious divorce process. Throughout the process, Cory provided sound and compassionate guidance that helped greatly in coming to an equitable resolution. Cory always had the interest of our child front and center in her guidance and that was very clear to both parties. Cory has my highest possible recommendation for anyone seeking an attorney for family matters or beyond. .

I have had the distinct pleasure of being the recipient of Cory Goriup’s expert legal counsel since 2003. In 1999, I ill advisedly completed divorce proceedings without seeking legal representation. As a result, I was legally bound to an unfavorable judgment that severely limited access to my then, five year old daughter. After years of mounting frustration, I sought legal counsel to amend the original divorce settlement at Surovell, Isaacs, & Levy PLC where I was introduced to Cory. Cory took the necessary time to understand my circumstances and then, expertly renegotiated the conditions of my visitation and support. As a result, access to my daughter was expanded and greatly enhanced. Last year, I had to call upon Cory again. As expected, her cordial and professional demeanor immediately restored civility and pragmatism into the process of navigating a mutually agreeable divorce settlement. The result was that the divorce proceedings and settlement were concluded expeditiously and to my benefit. Lastly, having discovered that Cory and I were raised in the same rural part of Upstate New York, has made her as much a friend as a trusted confidante. For anyone seeking superb legal counsel, I wholeheartedly recommend Corp Goriup.

First of all, I did not want a divorce and when I met Susan and her team I was clear that I wanted to push for reconciliation. She agreed and the entire "tone" of the divorce was amicable. This was very important to me. My wife hired a firm that was nasty from the start and Susan and her team kept our tone amicable which ended up making us look way better in mediation. Although divorce is expensive, I saved hundreds of thousands of dollars-really. Her team waded through the bogus claims of her counsel easily. I highly recommend her and her wonderful team.

In handling my divorce, Susan was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. My wife's attorney missed an issue which would have caused some problematic tax consequences. Susan brought the issue to our attention and it was resolved quickly before things became final. She was also extremely thrifty with her time, no bill padding here. Her services were an incredible value!

Sunny Cameron is fantastic. I recently had the good fortune of being referred to him for a complex corporate and real estate transaction. He was always available and completed the task quickly and successfully. He performed a miracle. It was also positive that the opposing attorney sang his praises. I would recommend him for any task he agrees to take on. He is smart, quick and efficient and his fees are reasonable.

Hiring this firm is better than no representation at all but I would think twice in hiring this firm if you have the funds to go elsewhere. This firm has hired lawyers struggling to maintain their good standing with the bar association and then the firm does not disclose that. Anything that could potentially affect a client's case should be disclosed and the firm not disclosing that is unethical. The firm has a poor mechanism for clients to make complaints and to also act on client complaints. The only person you will talk with is an office manager who has no authority to do anything. It's more like they have a person just to hear complaints so the owners of the firm don't have to deal with them. My whole time I hired this firm I felt like I needed to micromanage them. Its not ok for mail from the firm to be sent to the wrong address, for purge orders to be not filed, for clients to get emails and email communications for different clients that have nothing to do with your case, and info needed to be given to court to be not done in a timely manner or not done at all until the client has asked if it's been done. I'm sure the attorney I hired was a kind person and tried as hard as they could but I should have been informed of the situation so I understood how many micromanagings and check ins I needed to do. And the hourly rate for my situation was the same or higher than other legal staffers at the firm. My case had an overall positive outcome but there were errors made. Buyer beware when working with this firm!

I'm sorry to say that, even though I was married in the Catholic Church, my wife divorced me in March of this year, 2019. It was traumatic of course but Sharon Lieblich not only did a great job as a lawyer, but as a human being. I truly grew to love her. She was recommended by my family's lawyer in NYC, and though she was more expensive than other lawyers in Virginia, she probably saved me half a million bucks. You can't beat Harvard lawyers!

Sharon is an extremely experienced attorney with an excellent background for over decades. Using an attorney is extremely expensive and I've been happy with the ways she's tried to help cut the bill without giving up any rights. I just wish my STBX's attorney had the same approach.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
