I got a traffic citation when traveling home from vacation. Cotten Law Firm handled my case for me so I didn’t have to travel 6 hours back to NC. Case was reduced to Improper Equipment. Could not have been more pleased! I called multiple times to check on things and was always greeted by a kind and helpful person on the other end of the phone. Highly recommend!

I retained Mr. Demidovich to represent me in a divorce case. At the initial consultation, I knew he was the attorney for me. Mr. Demidovich took the time to review my documents and understand my situation. He was very direct as he laid out my options. His took my case on short notice and worked out a compensation plan that didn’t require me to sell my house and work two jobs just to retain his services. Mr. Demidovich worked with me when other lawyers wouldn’t.
Mr. Demidovich truly believes that one should try to negotiate a win-win settlement before marching into court. He was, nonetheless, prepared to litigate my case if my attempts to secure an amicable agreement failed.

The idea seemed wonderful—when a couple decided that their marriage should be dissolved, all parties would work together to achieve a non-adversarial, respectful, peaceful resolution at reasonable cost.
I was referred to the law office of Sheryl T. Friedrichs by family financial advisors for just such an experience. My spouse’s attorney, however, while wanting to stay out of court, was not familiar with the concept of Collaborative Divorce and not interested in undertaking a face-to-face interactive process.
Thus began a hybrid version of separation and property settlement negotiation. From my client viewpoint, trust by the other side was the primary issue. What were my personal motives? How much did I care about the opposite party’s outcome? Where were the resources each would need to continue a safe and comfortable single life?
It made sense that traditional legal representation would take a cautious approach. Extended time and patient, conscientious effort would be necessary to remove obstacles and reach agreements. Sheryl’s collaborative mindset, though not always reciprocated, made all the difference. As the process continued, progress accelerated and confidence was built.
In the end, a document was crafted and accepted by both parties which would make the actual divorce a formality. Working with Sheryl Friedrichs was collaborative in the best sense—people working together in good faith to a mutually beneficial finish.

If you ever find yourself in need of a knowledgeable, trusted divorce attorney who takes the utmost care for your interests, I would highly recommend contacting Ms. Sheryl Friedrichs. I acquired her services to help me navigate the minefield of an unwanted divorce. She was compassionate, well-qualified, and most helpful in walking me through the process, providing adequate time for reflection so that I could make sound decisions that were in my best interests. In handling my case (mind you I live out of state), there was a night and day difference in the handling of the proceedings from that of the opposing attorney. This restored my faith that divorce lawyers are not all cut from the same cloth. Ms. Friedrichs did not miss a beat. She was always organized, prompt and courteous. Clifford law firm was to represent my son in 2 counties both wake and sampson. He showed up once in wake none in sampson after being paid to be my son's rep. I would not hear from him nor my daughter in law would see him attend to business. The man mumbles and I could not understand most of what he was saying even though he was apprised I am hard of hearing. 20 months and nothing he said he would do was done. I even hesitate to give one star he deserves none.

As someone who unfortunately has had to deal with 4-5 lawyers in the few years this was by far my absolute worst experience with any attorney/firm. Can’t recommend enough to get a different consult and get better advice, would never work with them again.
The strategy here seems to be to take clients to court and to drag things out as long as possible to wrack up billable hours. From this from I paid over $10k for a divorce case that almost went to trial, until the firm was late on giving me needed disclosures to complete - when I changed attorneys almost instantly got the case out of court and saved a ton of money and got what I wanted.
Attorneys here couldn’t seem to care less, they are arrogant and will give you bad informaron to keep your case going to trial. Total waste and huge regret wasting any time and money here.

I called the Asheville branch to ask about a free consult because I live outside of NC, but my recently deceased sister lived in NC.
Bonnie answered my call and I'm so sorry she did. I hung up feeling frustrated and disrespected. She was rude and not very helpful at all. Her attitude was quite condescending and very unprofessional. She should be able to ask strategic questions to gain an understanding of my needs, but instead she was curt, snooty and too busy trying to get me off the phone to be able to understand WHY I was calling. It was like pulling teeth, and I was getting no where with her, so I simply asked her name, thanked her, and hung up. She rattled off some title after her name, but at this point I had tuned her out, because it didn't matter who she was. I would NEVER do business with them and WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone. I was able to find another attorney in NC, Kirschbaum, Nanney, Keenan & Griffin and they were awesome! They were kind, friendly and most of all professional. They asked the right questions to make sure they were the right 'type' of attorney I needed. They were truly the professionals I needed to talk to. I simply wanted to share MY experience with this practice and the end result.

Good luck EVER hearing from James Vann or his assistant Kaitlin. My attorney has reached out to him via phone call, voice mail, email, FedEx, and even dropping into the office and yet we have received nothing but "out of the office" messages in return. We were told he had a completed document just sitting on his desk ready to sign in March and we've yet to receive a copy. It's two days from August. Completely unprofessional. Would not recommend anyone use Vann as your attorney, even if it was offered free!

I hired Mr. Allen in 2019 while I was going through a separation with my ex-wife that ended in divorce. This was a very stressful, unpleasant and overwhelming time of my life. My ex-wife was making false accusations and asking for everything I had to my name - I needed help quickly. Mr. Allen explained everything to me...his strategy, how the law works, what to expect, best outcome, worst outcome - he was always pretty quick to respond to my calls, texts, emails, etc. I was extremely pleased with the outcome as we settled in mediation and the settlement was one that I thought was fair and that I was happy with. If it were not for Mr. Allen's zealous representation I fear I would have been clobbered and taken for everything I had. I absolutely recommend Mr. Allen for any type of family law case.

I hired Scott, when I was going through divorce child custody, and a lot of false claims were filed against me. I interviewed several lawyers and hired Scott, as I felt comfortable with him. He listened to me patiently and went through the court documents. I asked him to explain the process and he did explained what I should expect next. His paralegal James is certified paralegal and is superb in what he does. James helped me with the initial documents and the process.
Scott has a great document management system. Whatever documents I gave him till now, he never lost those and had those when we needed them. Scott asked me whether I want to settle or go to court. I wanted to go to court and he went with it. During the initial hearing and all the subsequent hearings he fought for my rights and presented my case diligently and proved the claims by the other party to be false. Most of the lawyers, will tell you settle as it saves them and the court time, but it might not be always in your best interest. Scott is not those lawyers, he really cares about his clients and is not afraid to litigate or fight for his client’s right in the court.
My case went through the approximately 15 months with different hearings etc. All these times, Scott has treated me with respect and did his best for my case. Divorce and custody cases are hard, as these drain you emotionally and financially. A lot of lawyers will try to linger your case or will try to charge you excessive amount of fees. Scott never tried to linger my case or charge me inappropriately.
The most important thing is, most lawyers will be nice when they have to take your case, but when the going gets tough and difficult in the divorce case or custody case; they would ask you to look for another lawyer or will ask to be excused from your case. Scott is not such lawyer; he is there for you from the beginning till the end. He is well reputed and well respected among his peers and in the community. He’s been practicing family law for over 20 years. Throughout my case, I had peace of mind that I have best lawyer looking out for my case and who is not afraid to go extra mile for my case.
Scott never promised me the moon or the stars; he always said he will do his best as the case outcome can’t be guaranteed. He did his best. In all hearing, he gave me more than ample time for the trial preparation. He always answered my emails promptly, despite his busy schedule. One time, I had to visit my child out of state and I had driven 7 hours one way and the other parent won’t let me see my child. I immediately contacted Scott and he immediately contacted the lawyer of my ex and that allowed me to see my child the next day. It was a weekend; most lawyers won’t respond to you even if it’s emergency situation on a weekend. That single action by Scott, earned a lot of my respect and regard for him.
I would highly recommend Scott Allen for anyone looking for the best lawyer for Child Custody, Alimony, Divorce & Separation and for family law related matters. If you ask me, who is the lawyer who will stand by you from the beginning till the end, who will be around through your roller coaster ride of the Child Custody, Alimony, Divorce & Separation etc., I would say Scott Allen. He truly cares about his clients and is one of the best lawyers.

A few weeks before moving out of state, I was served with papers for custody of my then 8 month old son (an arrangement my son’s father and I had both previously agreed to). We did not have a written custody agreement and the baby had stayed with me full time. I was unaware anything was being filed until I was served by the sheriff while I was at work (I’m a full time Pediatric emergency department RN). Once the shock factor wore off, panic set in. North Carolina was a state where I had no family and was by all means meant to be a temporary stay. Before meeting Amy, other lawyers refused to hear me out and told me to settle, as I was bound to lose in court. I refused to accept being trapped in a state where I had no connections and upon meeting Amy, I realized she wouldn’t let me either. From day one I felt supported and although she warned me any relocation case would be an “uphill battle” she never stopped fighting to reunite my son and I with our family in our home state. Amy is personable, professional, and has a good relationship with the court as well as other attorneys. Without her expertise, approach, knowledge of the law, and attention to detail, I truly believe I’d still be fighting for my rights to come home with my son. Amy and her team sorted through thousands of text messages and pictures to develop a portfolio for my defense. I’d 100% recommend Amy. She not only met my expectations as a lawyer, she exceeded them.

The first time Katherine was scolded by the courts for overstepping her role as a Parent Coordinator when she changed the custody schedule, wrongly taking away half of my custody. While Katherine seems very knowledgeable in her field she doesn't seem to use that knowledge very well to help dissolve conflict in high conflict situations. Katherine Frye has consistently ignored emails related to alienation of affection, domestic violence, protection orders, withholding and many other issues, and has continuous used her "power of authority" as she likes to call it, to make many bias, one sided decisions.
If you are in a high conflict case, or your co-parent suffers from narcissism, do not proceed with Katherine as your PC because her directives and help can be bought, and manipulated, inevitably becoming one sided.
I would have to agree with a previous review that maybe Katherine is too busy with her practice or doesn't care enough to find out the actual issue at hand, because there is no way a law professional is supposed to be this disconnected and nonchalant about major issues.

While Ms Frye may or may not be a good attorney, I would recommend someone else with a therapy background to be your family's parent coordinator. Specifically, Dr. Carolyn Pender-Roche of Next Step Psychology is exceptional. She is a therapist and understands what is in the best interest of the children. Carolyn takes into consideration the psychology of each family member as well as seeks to understand the whole situation even if it takes time. I believe from my experience with Katherine Frye that Katherine is just too busy trying to manage her legal practice to take the time to fully understand the issues at hand. If you want someone who will listen well before hurrying to give a directive, go with Dr Pender Roche or even another therapist. Ultimately having someone who can truly be an advocate for the best interest of your children is what is most important even if they dont always do what you want. If you have an ex that lies well, you dont want Katherine Frye as your PC as she is too busy to notice.

Mr. Meynardie gave up too easily on my case and was not clear regarding fees to be incurred. He was responsive in the beginning, but not so later. I read that he was on another case during that time and then it became clear why his attention had been diverted from my case. I was left very disappointed.

Bob does an excellent job of providing representation comparable to that from large law firms, but at a more cost effective rate. In addition, through his use of technology, he is able to give a more personal representation that often found from large firms. This woman has done nothing but take money, with little to no help at all. She schedules a consult once a week and has only actually consulted my mom the first time and has been a no call for the rest of the scheduled phone meetings. She was told she had a court case this morning, only to find out that nothing was even filed according to the court clerk. My mother is on a fixed income and doesn't have the time to waste going back and forth for a case she was told to attend that didn't even exist due to Holly's lack of filing. Negligence at it's finest. In fact she is a good lawyer (sarcasm), that she had gone through 3 paralegals in a period of 18 months. Shows how professional she is. This lady is a con. Run the other way.

This attorney cares absolutely nothing about you. She allowed my exstrange husband to move back onto the home after he abused me, my children and my cat. She wouldn't return phone calls, emails or text messages. She left me out there to drown. When and if I spoke to her she would be lying as she's talking. This attorney only helped herself to thousands of dollars from me only. With what she did I should have defended myself for zero dollars and would have probably receive better results. Only hire her if you want the other side to win.

I strongly advise against engaging with this particular law firm. I encountered several significant issues during my interaction with them, including:
1) Lack of Personal Attention: Regrettably, Mr. John McNeil demonstrated a concerning lack of attentiveness to my case. It became apparent that my emails went largely unread and unanswered. Furthermore, the conduct of his staff left much to be desired, marked by rudeness and a notable lack of responsibility.
2) Exorbitant Billing: Another disconcerting aspect of my experience was the firm's tendency to overcharge for their legal services. This left me feeling unfairly burdened financially.
3) Questionable Professionalism and Ethics: I found the overall professionalism and ethical standards of this law firm to be sorely lacking. It is my belief that they prioritize their own financial interests over the well-being of their clients.
In light of these issues, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this firm to anyone. It appears that their primary focus is on monetary gain rather than advocating for their clients' best interests. I strongly encourage individuals seeking legal assistance to explore other options and avoid this particular firm at all costs.

I would definitely not recommend using John McNeil as your attorney. My overall experience was not pleasing. There was a lack of communication and on many occasions he did not return phone calls and emails in a timely manner. He showed little concern, no aggression and not much sympathy for my situation. Mr. McNeil gave me the impression - if your case is not worth the money he will not dedicate the time.

I do not recommend Aida Doss-Havel as an attorney. Please do not waste your time and money. We had a 1 hour consultation with Ms. Havel hoping to become more educated on the matter, but instead we left with the exact information that we already knew, except we were our $200. She spent half the asking questions about our situations (which makes sense), then she made a phone call during the consultation which infact resulted in her being on hold for about 10 min. She repeatedly kept saying how our case was such a mess, wasting a lot of time during the consultation, and never actually giving us any advice or directions. When discussed the fact that she hadn't given us any advice or consultation AT ALL, and asking for at least half the consultation fee back, she declined and said "she felt that we both did what we contracted to do." DO NOT waste your time or money speaking with this "so called" attorney.
