I chose Jeanne Browne to help my fiancée and I with our prenuptial agreement! She gave great advice, had quick turnarounds and was very detail oriented (even noticing items another attorney missed). I highly recommend Jeanne Browne and her office staff!

My spouse and I consider Irma our guardian angel. We are a same sex couple and we hired Irma for her immigration services in June 2014 to see about getting my spouse his green card. We were very unsure of the process but we were impressed how well Irma explained the process. We liked working with Irma because she was thorough, well deatiled, and always accessible. I sent some evening emails and I would often receive a response the same night. It was a true comfort knowing that Irma was always in our corner fighting for us and watching over things during the process. The paperwork that was sent in was done right the first time and her hardship waiver that she prepared was perfectly written towards our situation. Finally, in February 2017, my partner had his immigrant visa interview in Ciudad Juarez and now we are just waiting for the green card in the mail. One other thing that we liked about Irma was that she was always so warm and welcoming every time that we came to the office. I will definitely be using Irma for the other services she offers.

About 2 years ago, we went to Irma for immigration assistance with my husband's case. She gave us a layout of what would or could happen. And she helped us through the end. My husband is now a legal permanent resident and it's all thanks to Irma. She is honest, caring and detailed. She goes above and beyond.

I would like to recommend lawyer Irma Perez Cordova to the public in need of help with criminal defense, immigration cases. I recently worked with her, she kept a good organized plan and was always on to of every court session with me. It was sure a long process because of many previous misdemeanor tickets I have had. Court days would arrive and my immigration documents would not arrive, or neither the procedure move on. Mrs. Cordova would always be there for me giving me advice keeping me with my head up. At every court session Mrs. Cordova would always be prepared and do a great job on speaking to the judge in all court sessions she would do great and be approved for extensions of time. After my last court session a couple weeks passed and finally I was given the news by that all the courts and tickets were cleared. My family and I were so happy and appreciated with all of Mrs. Cordova's hard work. Personally I would say Mrs. Irma Perez Cordova overall did a great job my family and I are very appreciated for all her hard work and effort she put into everything and for all her time. She is a very well experienced lawyer that has great skills and knowledge I would definitely recommend her to friend's, family and the public.

In 2022 I had came in and needed their services. I spoke with Julie and It was a tough situation revolving my father that passed away. She told me what they could do and they did their best to help me. I didn't understand certain things at the time and was under a cloud of pain among other things. They still gave me patience and took the time to listen to what had happened. I couldn't get a resolution in my case and retrieve my fathers items to this day, but it was never because of Brockway Law. Just an unfortunate series of events that made it difficult to continue further financially & emotionally. Brockway Law did the best they could and I will always appreciate it. Thank you

Dear Roy, I know some folks who look back and think they could have gotten their awards from the Fire Victim Trust without an attorney. That is not my experience. From my first meeting with you, I was comforted by your confidence that you would fight for us, even while you were dealing with your loss as well. That impressed me. You were clearly, “one of us”. You have been consistently responsive and supportive in getting me and my family through this experience of joining the law suit. Your staff were always kind and helpful. And now you have helped me get to closure with my deceased husband’s claim. I thank you. And my sons do too. You have my deep appreciation and admiration. Cynthia Healy

Roy is an amazing lawyer! I am so thankful for everything he did to get my numerous cases all dismissed. He was very professional but at the same time didn’t appear to be judging me and or why I needed his help. He answered all of my messages within a very reasonable time frame. I’m hoping to not need his expertise in the future but in the unfortunate case I do, he’s the one I’m calling as well as referring. Everyone I spoke to from his office were all very kind and compassionate. I couldn’t be more thankful for all they did!

Under the best of circumstances, divorce is difficult. I didn’t think I needed an attorney. I was wrong. Joann and company did not tell me what I wanted to hear. They told me what I needed to hear. In the end, it came down to the fact that I had a much better attorney. More organized. More proactive and knowledgeable. And dare I say it, more aggressive. Divorce is like whack a mole. And a box of chocolates.

I was often frustrated with how long it took Jeanne to follow through on things during divorce process. Things she should have taken care of didn't get done. I relied on her to know, and make sure I knew, the things that needed to be done. Ultimately, she didn't follow through on a very important final detail. It resulted in costing me several thousands of dollars and months of time consuming/stressful phone calls and letters to unraveling the mess. when I contacted her for help, she was willing to talk with me, send me a copy of my settlement, and make a phone call; but anything more than that and she "would have to charge me for her time". Not exactly the way I would have handled it if I had made that mistake.

Eric is an extraordinary attorney who relentlessly advocated for me against a platoon of defense attorneys. He prevailed against significant game playing resistance by the defense while obtaining the evidence we needed that no other attorney would have been able to obtain. He previously successfully argued a personal injury case for his client in the Supreme Court, and established precedent law that other PI attorneys now utilize to advocate for their PI clients. Remember the line from the movie 'Taken'..."What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career" That's Eric Young

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
