In 2012, my husband and I were in a bad car accident that landed us in a level-1 trauma center in Minneapolis. Only a few hours after arriving I received a call from my nephew, a prominent lawyer in Philadelphia (PA), who instructed me not to speak with any lawyers until he found me "the best" in the Cities -- and he was true to his word. John Dornik came highly recommended and has certainly lived up to his reputation. Not only did John prove himself to be a deft negotiator with a masterful grasp of injury law, he is a warm and compassionate human being who never thought twice about making himself available to help us navigate the endless medical and disability forms, or to simply offer a word of encouragement or advice. It is no understatement to say that I'm not sure what we would have done without him!
And when it came to negotiating the settlement, he made sure we understood the process and that he had a clear idea of our goals. With the insurance company, he was firm and reasoned.

I had been Involved in a personal injury case that had drug out for about 2 years. I was supposedly being "represented " by a lawyer hired by Liberty Mutual. This other lawyer gave me release to sign that would entitle me to $548 and Liberty Mutual would gain $24,452.
I knew something wasn't right and I started to call a few lawyers to see if they could give me advice or help me determine what to do. After contacting two other lawyers that wouldn't even look at my documents, I came accross Mr. Lavoie.
Ben took the time first to listen, then read through my documents. He eased my anxieties and lowered my stress levels instantly. He assured me he would do absolutely everything he could do for me. I quickly found my self doing something I thought I would never do...."Trust a Lawyer!" Within a few short weeks, he settled my case for $5400, and even lowered his fees so I received even more money in my pocket.
I cannot explain how happy I am with what Ben has done for me. He is a true gentleman and wonderful man.

Our case was a complex Workers Compensation case, which was initially filed in the state of Indiana, since my husband worked for an over the road trucking company based out of Indiana. We reside in Minnesota and the injury occured in Colorado. From what I had read, the case could be transferred to Minnesota. I called several attorneys and Ben Lavoie was the only one who took the time to look at the case and have it filed in Minnesota for us. From that point on, we never felt like we were alone in the complex, drawnout Workers Compensation system. My husband's case took several years to finalize and yet Ben never got discouraged or let us get discouraged. He helped us obtain a very fair settlement for both future lost wages and future medical expenses. I have recommended Ben to a few people already and would do so for anyone in need of an attorney within Ben's practice areas. By the time our case settled, we didn't just have an attorney, we had a true friend going to bat for us. Amazing customer service and extremely professional. 2. I painstakingly filled the form, got to the phone call and this is how it went
He was talking about will, trust, power of attorney etc. (keep in mind he already knows my family's worth), and like educated people that we are, we had questions (plus, he was speaking fast too, so I had to halt him to repeat some things). Please ask me why after the 2nd question this "fragile ego entity" decided to tell me I was arguing with him and if I wanted to argue he can't be our lawyer. I was stunned (like where did this come from). And my husband was like :we are just asking questions because we are not the expert and wanted to understand. And he literally said (and I kid you not) I'm not used to people asking me questions right out of the gate ( "sigh in my ancestor's language). Anyway, I just told him, "if you already feel this way just after two questions, how would we be able to ask you questions in the future if we don't understand something. I don't think you are the best fit then". Needless to say, he was like "metlife will find you another lawyer". Dude, I spent hours going through lawyers, no one did the work. Anyway, whatever is wrong with this Nate, he needs to go get some "communication 101" course on his learning path.

He was talking about will, trust, power of attorney etc. (keep in mind he already knows my family's worth), and like educated people that we are, we had questions (plus, he was speaking fast too, so I had to halt him to repeat some things). Please ask me why after the 2nd question this "fragile ego entity" decided to tell me I was arguing with him and if I wanted to argue he can't be our lawyer. I was stunned (like where did this come from). And my husband was like :we are just asking questions because we are not the expert and wanted to understand. And he literally said (and I kid you not) I'm not used to people asking me questions right out of the gate ( "sigh in my ancestor's language). Anyway, I just told him, "if you already feel this way just after two questions, how would we be able to ask you questions in the future if we don't understand something. I don't think you are the best fit then". Needless to say, he was like "metlife will find you another lawyer". Dude, I spent hours going through lawyers, no one did the work. Anyway, whatever is wrong with this Nate, he needs to go get some "communication 101" course on his learning path.
