My husband and I hired Jedidiah Bressman to represent us after being seriously injured in a car accident. The case was very complicated, involving several parties and different insurance policies spanning multiple states. He was extremely professional and compassionate during our frequent communication, and thoroughly explained every step of the process. We were very naive to legal proceedings, and he did an excellent job answering all our questions. He was also very proactive, often contacting us to clarify something before we had a chance to ask him about it. By working with Jedidiah we received the best possible outcome for our settlement, and gained the peace of mind necessary for our recoveries. We highly recommend Bressman Law if you are in need of a personal injury attorney.

Mr Jedidiah is the best lawyer exited. He is very nice, wise, patient, understanding, and knowledgeable. Whatever the case might be, however it might looks, you do not have to worry about it because mr Jedidiah is there for you to handle it all. So you could be at peace and happy at the end. Meaning that I had a great experience with him and I am so happy that everything was handled in a professional and competency manner. Thank you so much Jedidiah and my God bless you more.

Unfortunately, it wasn't likely that there was a case to pursue in my circumstances. But that in itself gave me closure, as I've reached out to several attorneys that I was never able to speak to, never got back with me via email, text or anything. I called and was immediately transferred to him and he took the time to hear me out and was patient and professional while doing so and thoroughly explained the issues surrounding the unlikeliness of me having a case which gave me closure which I am happy with, so if you see any services on his website that you think he might be able to help you with, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment and see if he'll be able to help you! Because I am 100% confident if he can, he will!

After being involved in an auto accident, Bressman Law was recommended to me by a family friend. This is my first experience with a personal injury lawyer & I have to say the whole process couldn’t have been any easier. David & Karen are wonderfully pleasant, patient, & thorough. They kept me well informed of my options along my the way, as well as with the overall progress of my lawsuit. Once I received my settlement, they even gave me a gift card for lunch! I highly recommend this dynamic do well to anyone in need of representation.

I found Richard through the BAR association about 10 years ago for my horrible car accident case. From the first meeting with him, he was great, he reviewed my case with everything in him and explained everything in detail of how the process would go. I think the thing that made me most happy was that the guy that hit me was driving a rental car and the rental car company totally tried to screw me over with the statute of limitations, a weekend, and a holiday; Richard knew the laws immediately and addressed them and told me what would happen. And wouldn't you know, the rental car company rep bold faced lied to me over the phone and if I didn't have Richard hired by then I would've been screwed in the case because of the weekend and holiday and he knew exactly how to handle it and what they would do to try to screw me over. During the negotiations he fought for me left and right and was beyond my expectations in everyway possible with how he talked with me. When it was all said and done, he drove to where I worked during his busy schedule to have me sign some paperwork and give me my check. To this day anyone that has been in an accident I immediately give them his information because I was so pleased with the whole crappy experience that he made so easy and effortless. He knows his stuff and I hope I don't get in another accident, but if I do, I'll always know who I'll go back to.

My son was recently in a motor vehicle accident where he was hit from behind by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. A co-worker handed me Richard's business card and from that first conversation to the last detail of settlement Richard exceeded our expectations. He actually cares about his client and their well being, we weren't just a pay check for him. Richard always showed the utmost respect and courtesy, as well as extreme knowledge of the requirements to resolve the case. He was very attentive to every status inquiry we made, regardless of how minute a detail it may have been. His assurance of our understanding the situation was if high importance. We definitely feel Richard is the best and would highly reccommend him to anyone in need of a personal injury attorney.

Braden was one of the best attorneys that I have ever dealt with. My personal injury situation was handled promptly, professionally and for a very reasonable amount of compensation. He came to my place when it was needed and I was in pain, was courteous and attentive as if he was an attending physician for a moment. Braden had numerous negotiations with the other party which resulted in a complete success! Thanks again Braden.

Dealing with an auto accident can be overwhelming and discouraging but I can honestly say from the time I contacted Selph Law this firm has listened to me, fought for me,and in the times I was kind of not so sure reassured and showed me grace and continued to show me they had my best interest in mind. Everyone has a different situation yes but I truly believe this firm sticks to a moral compass and overall goal of what's best for each client not a cookie cutter approach. I had one issue and when I say it was addressed so fast and diligent I was completely impressed. I've recommended them to 2 other folks in need and they have thanked me many times cause they felt as happy as I have. Forget the big firms, deal with the guys that get you big results and are clear and transparent. Thank you again Selph Law.

Run. I didn't even begin to give my background information before Emily repeatedly interrupted me telling me that we did not have a case. Mind you, this was before I even finished explaining the first situation. She even told me that when I was in the hospital and my husband was forced to WORK ON HIS DAY OFF, that he should have used FMLA? Is this lady crazy? I've been told today by several other lawyers that my husband had a solid case but they did not want to take it until he was illegally terminated, as there they would not make enough money out of it to be worth it. Emily Lewis interrupted me multiple times while on a call less than 4 minutes long. If you can't listen to the facts, how can you say my husband doesn't have a case? She would not even let me finish the first instance and there are dozens that are well documented. The company my husband works for even illegally withheld a portion of his first paycheck when he is under contract and is SALARIED. They still have that money! Explain how that is legal, Emily.

I have unfortunately been left by the wayside from this office. They helped with taking care of a traffic case, which was to lead to a dismissal if court fees were paid. I made payment before the instructed time frame. However, in the midst of this I ended up with a license suspension for failure to appear in court and the only reason I found out was from getting a new vehicle that I needed plates for. Long story short I reached out to find out if it was the Ohio BMV's mistake or the office. They sprung into action quickly to respond and then fell into a cold period of no contact, no follow up, or anything of the sort. Fast forward 7 months later I reach out again about who's mistake it was and was greeted with quick response and action. Just to fall back off on this matter. I've seen emails multiple days in a row and gave as much grace as I could give with this. I'm facing increase in insurance due to this case that I was told was dismissed months ago. There has been no follow through or accountability accepted in this. For this, I do not recommend anyone to this firm for assistance.

Paul Zachary olah is AWFUL. STAY AWAY. He was my sons lawyer and sat mute while jennifer rausch the now ohio attorney general lied... he is not honest and I have receipts. Look this man knew my son dna was not at the crime scene and he mentioned zip. Yall better not hired that roach . You should be shamed paul zachary. Why did you not call JULIE A. HEINIG. THE ONE YOU SUBPONEA., you did not call julie because it proved his innocene. You and the NOW attorney general JENNIFER ROACH, , did not call her for that reason . . Do not hire him. SEE PROOF THIS MAN IS A SERPENT. Olah knew the truth and with jennifer sent an Innocent man to Prison. He is not honest. See for yourself. Run from this boloney smelling snake.... WORST LAWYER OF THE YEAR AWARD...PAUL ZACHARY.... .. A FRAUD....In 2014 November the 12th, Defense attorney Paul Zachary Olah filed for a motion for an order for leave to file a motion for a new trial. That motion was based on an updated DNA report due to a change in reporting procedures by the Columbus Police Department. The motion was only four paragraphs long and did not explain the significance of the changed DNA results. The State built its case on the testimony of Amoreena Pauley, a DNA analyst who indicated Lundy's DNA was present on two items from the crime. After the trial, the Columbus Police Department crime lab realized it erred when it reported the DNA results in this case, and issued a revised report. That new DNA report shows that rather than suggesting that Lundy's DNA was present on two items from the crime scene, the results provide no information regarding whether Lundy's DNA was found on items. The DNA results changed from implicating Lundy to providing no value at all to the State's case. Although the State argued at trial that DNA from the items supposedly used to tie up Setecia Hayes included Lundy's DNA, we now know — according to the Columbus Police Department crime lab revised report — that Lundy's DNA has not been confirmed at the crime scene. This distinction is significant in a case where the State emphasized the significance of Lundy's and Setecia Hayes's DNA results during trial. The trial court denied Lundy's motion, finding that "a change in CPD's DNA reporting policy is not newly discovered evidence" 'and noting that "Lundy could have, in the exercise of due diligence, retained an expert to discuss any flaws that could have existed in CPD's DNA reporting procedure for his trial."..

Gerald Bohan handled my divorce. If that is what you would call it. Seems like despite his years of experience he was ill prepared to handle my case. I felt he was very misleading in what he said we could acomplish. He said a lot things in our "free consultation" (which I was partially billed for) I feel to get me on the hook and said that there were certain things that were going to be fought for and accomplished and then during the divorce process, trial and court dates he said no that's not how or what were going to do. I felt completely abandoned and helpless during his "representation" of me. I felt totally failed by him. I would not recommend him. He seemed out of date. I suggest getting a younger and more hungry attorney. I felt he couldn't have cared less about what happened or the outcome of our case nor did he have my best interest at heart. It was horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would.

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
