Edward Gray is an excellent Lawyer. Edward fought extensively behind the scenes to win my case. He kept me updated regularly by email. Edward was always available, to answer questions, by text or by phone. Prompt responses, within minutes. He is extremely impressive intelligence, with integrity. He was very thorough and honest about what I was facing and I always felt like he went the extra mile. Edward is very knowledgeable in his field and knew what direction to take to get the best results. His attention to detail and cutting to the chase was quite impressive. Edward did not waste anytime.. I am over joyed after an intensive 3 years we won. 2 cases they worked on both were very successful results. I would high recommend Edward Gray & Fulton Broemer... I will not hesitate contracting Edward & Fulton.. They truly are worth the money....I cant praise Edward enough..

Donnie was fantastic. I initially called an attorney’s office near my home that I was familiar with, and they themselves are the ones who actually referred me to Donnie for my particular circumstances. I had “fix it” tickets for not having an updated address on my license and my registration had expired. I went online, updated the address, paid the fine, sent proof to the court. With the registration ticket, I updated my registration, paid the late fees and submitted proof to the court. Where I dropped the ball was overlooking the additional $10 fine that could only be paid in person. The League City Municipal Court had set a court date for me that I had missed and when I was notified via text from the city about my arrest warrant, you can probably imagine my bewilderment. I called the court and initially spoke to an extremely unsympathetic clerk who gave me two options: Pay the much larger fine now and have a misdemeanor on my record or turn myself in, spend the day and night in jail and roll the dice with the judge the next day. This is all over an additional $10 fine that was in addition to the fees I had paid in updating my registration. Absolutely ludicrous, and this random clerk clearly had a bone to pick with me about missing the court date. I then spoke with the League City Municipal Court Administrator who was exactly the same. Pay the fine, enjoy the new criminal record or go to jail and pound sand. At this point I’m nearly livid at the absurdity of this kangaroo court and 20 minutes later I’m on the phone with Donnie. His fee happened to be exactly the same as the fine I was facing, yet with him I’d at least have a shot at getting this whole thing taken care of. So obviously, this is a no brainer. Donnie immediately got to work. I admit I was surprised at how promptly he got into it. He gave me a phone call later in the same day after spending an hour on the phone with the same clerk I dealt with. In essence, this random court clerk somehow thought she knew the law better than an actual attorney with a resume like Donnie’s and he had to politely, but firmly put her in her place. She called the judge to confirm if she was right or Donnie was right and the judge put her in her place as well and minutes later the arrest warrant was pulled and Donnie had me squared away. I went back to the Municipal court to pay my $10 fine, gave the clerk the most smug smile I have ever mustered in my entire life and was on my way. It’s a paradoxical shame that I met Donnie in these circumstances as he exudes competence and was a genuine pleasure to work with. I would love to do more business with him in the future, but I generally do not run afoul of the law and would have to screw something up majorly for us to have that opportunity. Rest assured however, that whatever circumstance I may find myself in that needs an attorney, Donnie will be the first I call. If the specific circumstance is out of his realm it expertise, I will still reach out to him and ask for a recommendation as I trust his judgment that much already. If you’re considering utilizing his services, you are only doing yourself a disservice by not at least giving him a call. And to Donnie, thank you for everything.

Great lawyer, he showed up a little late which worried me but when he got there he was able to handle it quickly. I had a speeding ticked for 39 over the posted limit as well as a front license plate violation and came out only having to pay court fees and the front plate violation(not a moving violation). I would highly recommend this lawyer.

I had the pleasure of working with Kelly Forester, and I can confidently say that he is the best attorney I have ever encountered. From the very beginning, Kelly demonstrated a deep understanding of the law and an unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for his clients. Kelly’s expertise is evident in every aspect of his work. He meticulously analyzed every detail of my case, leaving no stone unturned. His strategic approach, combined with his exceptional negotiation skills, ensured that my interests were always protected. Throughout the entire process, Kelly was not only my legal representative but also a source of support and guidance. He took the time to explain complex legal concepts in a way that I could understand, which gave me immense peace of mind. The firm as a whole reflects Kelly’s high standards of excellence. From the moment we started, I was treated with the utmost professionalism and respect. The entire team is dedicated, responsive, and always ready to assist. The communication was seamless, and I never felt left in the dark about the status of my case.

My daughter was seriously and unfairly injured and never having dealt with anything like the situation before, I had no clue what steps to take to get compensation for her injuries and medical bills. I contacted Mr. Forester on the advice of a friend and I’m so glad I did because I couldn’t have reached out to a better and more knowledgeable attorney. Throughout this months long process he’s never made me feel rushed or pressured. He explains legal processes in a way that’s easy to understand. Most importantly he showed no hesitation taking on an insurance giant to get my child funds she deserves for what she’s endured.

KPRC 2 (local TV channel) exposes David Lee Pettus in 3 different news stories specifically about him this year (2024). I was a client of his in 2008. And, I had a feeling way back then that I would live to regret that decision. Needless to say, I regret that decision, as I now see that he did not do right by me.

I hired Mr. Tylka to defend charges brought against me. From the moment I initially contacted him he was ready to work for me. He made his availability very high to me, and I could easily contact him by phone or email when needed. I chose him out of several other attorney candidates to hire because he was not only willing to take my case, but he also was ready to work hard and get all the information he needed as quickly as possible in order to begin working on my case. Although I would come to know Mr. Tylka quite well over the course of working with him with my case, I could tell he was very knowledgeable and carried himself with the utmost professional demeanor from when we first spoke over the phone (On a Sunday no less). He clearly had a lot of experience, and he was able to give me possible outcomes for my case as well some very comforting words regarding those outcomes and the current situation. I imagine Mr. Tylka has a lot of cases going on at once; however, he cared more than enough to make me feel as if my case was the only case that mattered to him when we spoke, and he never failed to contact me when critical junctures in the case were approaching in order to keep me in the loop and informed of the status of my case. Ultimately, he was able to reach the most favorable outcome possible for my case. More impressive, he was able to do it much faster than I expected. These are clearly some of the benefits of working with an attorney as experienced as Mr. Tylka. He knows what to do and how to get it done in the most efficient way possible. His professional, caring, and highly-competent approach to working with clients in regards to legal matters is quite unique. I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again, and I will certainly recommend him to not only my friends but also my family members if they ever need legal counsel. Overall, Mr. Tylka helped me feel calm and reassured in dealing with my legal matters. He kept me informed. He was very professional. He reached a very favorable conclusion for me in my case, and I really couldn't be happier. I have dealt with various different types of attorneys in my career and life, and I can say that Mr. Tylka is the one you want to be working with. Thank you Mr. Tylka.

I hired Larry Tylka to represent me in an automobile accident. He jumped in and handled everything from beginning to end. The suit was filed, depos taken, discovery handled, hearings attended, as well as mediation and settlement. He and his staff were great. I would hire him again if there was a need.

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
