My 77 year old Aunt has had a precipitous decline in her physical and mental function recently from vascular dementia. A friend who had a great result working with Dave recommended him to me. I hired David a year ago to represent my case against a hospice agency and a nursing home. My personal/family attorney recommended David. Anna Mae is great, but was left unhappy with the services rendered for a few reasons. I signed an initial retainer for a mediation document review and scheduled 2 video calls. On the call it was advised that I would need to sign on to a higher retainer which was fine and I did. Once the calls were completed, at no point was I notified that the costs had exceeded the retainer and instead received an email a week after the calls that the costs incurred were well over double the retainer and I had to pay to receive the finished document, but with no justification or explanation for the time spent outside the calls. It seems like fair practice should be to notify the client when you're over the retainer and how much additional work you expect it to be. Additionally, though I provided a word document for them to review and edit, they refused to send me a word document of their edits and would only send a locked PDF which doesn't allow me to make any further modifications as we move through the mediation process and any additional edits would lead to me spending more for them to do it. Both of the other attorneys I have worked with for the drafting and review have been more transparent regarding billing and provided word documents that we can use to edit on our own as the situation evolves.

Getting seriously injured at work is something that can be jarring enough on it's own, then to have to navigate NJ's extremely complicated Workman's Comp system all by yourself. Mr. Santarsiero was referred to me shortly after a work related accident and from the day of our very first meeting, I was never less than 100% satisfied with his services! I support a family of 4 (two small children) so to me, getting things done smoothly and efficiently was as important as anything else I had ever done in my life! Having heard nightmares about "how these cases take years and years to settle" it was important to me that I retained someone who would not only have mine and my families best interests in mind, but who also wouldn't allow my case to get hung up in limbo while everything else around me deteriorated. Not only did Mr. Santarsiero get things done in the exact time frame he said he would, in most cases he did it in much less time! His secretary Cathy was also extremely helpful! I can't thank Geraldine Allegra enough for battling the SSA through a pandemic to finally get me approved for SSDI. I started out by speaking w/ Lisa in the front office to schedule a consultation. She took my information & scheduled my appointment. Great, no problems there. However, I explained to Lisa that I currently don't have transportation and would be arranging for a ride back and forth to the office. Not only did I have to rearrange my day, but also the day of the person providing me with transportation to make the trip to Red Bank. Which wasn't an issue at all. However, herein lies my major issue with how this firm treats their perspective clients.... I travelled all the way to Red Bank only to find out that not only was my consultation cancelled, no one was even in the office that day. I never received a call informing me of the change. However, I decided to call back and reschedule anyway believing it was just a miscommunication. Not only was that phone call never returned, my following 3 phone calls were never returned either. That's completely unacceptable and unprofessional, period. In sum, if this is any indication whatsoever of how Mr. Bartels' runs his front office, then I want nothing to do with him or his colleagues representing me in a court of law, let alone paying for their services. One of two things is blatantly evident. One, either Mr. Bartels' has no idea of how his front office is being handled or, two, he just doesn't care. Judging by his other reviews, I believe it to be the former rather than the latter. Regardless, I will NEVER use this firm and, consequently, two other co-workers whom were interested in his services have gone on to seek a more professional and knowledgable firm. The bottom line Mr. Bartels' is that your front office is rude, inconsiderate, inept and unprofessional.
