If you are researching attorneys before you sign a contract, count your lucky stars that you have found Rabb and Rabb. I had a very expensive, negative personal injury experience at another law firm, and the staff and attorneys at Rabb and Rabb helped me navigate the fallout from that; and they competently handled the UIM portion of my claim. Life is good, your career is prosperous, you’re loved by your kid, you’re grateful to life for a promising future, then you receive that appalling phone call. Someone is telling you that you’re being investigated by the police, falsely accused of the worst crime you can imagine, and that you must call a lawyer. And you’re advised to contact Attorney Rick Lougee.
That happened to me, it may be happening to you as you read this, and I was very fortunate to get Lougee’s name. I’m the living case-dismissed proof that hiring Rick Lougee is the right decision when your entire life is in jeopardy.
Always keep in mind Lougee’s principle: You never talk to the police. Throughout my case, sadly, I realized that the police’s investigation is sloppy, they’re lazy in finding facts, the prosecution is ideologically contaminated (e.g. #MeToo), and sometimes, like in my case, rigged.
Rick Lougee assembles an effective and unshakable investigative team for all his cases. For my case, they started working almost immediately. In a matter of a couple of weeks, they revealed the facts that would in time form the foundation for my innocence. They dug deeper than the prosecution during the discovery process, and they found a considerable number of facts and police reports that should have persuaded any police detective to take a closer look at what was going on in the accusers’ house in the first place. But remember, in today’s environment, if you’re accused, you are guilty until proven otherwise. Lougee was determined to demonstrate my full innocence and systematically rejected any proposal of a plea bargain from the prosecution. We agreed that we will go all the way for our battle at trial.
From my experience, Lougee operates using three strategies: He is brashly honest and clear with you about the difficulties of the case. He strategizes with a military mind, planning always under the worst scenarios. He puts extreme care to the detail of law’s fundamentals in his motions, executing the defense brilliantly and effectively in court. I was fortunate to see Rick fighting for me in court. I saw him delivering at least two Perry Mason moments for my case.
My case was complicated by the conundrums of the pandemic, which caused a long waiting process. The nature of my case involved false memories of abuse. Lougee undertook a careful and thoughtful search for the best expert witness from very prestigious academic institution. He covered all the corners of my case, never underestimated the prosecution, and never left my case to the odds. We were ready for trial.
In a fortunate change of events and new information, Lougee discovered a pattern in the police detectives in charge; they were secretly coaching the accusers to provide favorable evidence for the prosecution. And in a most disgraceful act, the police department destroyed all the evidence that we know existed. This triggered the dismissal of my case.
During all my predicament journey of my case, I felt confident that Rick would use all his experience and talents to destroy the prosecution’s case in order to save me from a terrible fate. My confidence was based on Rick’s experience. He has an extensive list of cases that demonstrate he never is afraid of how big the case or the prosecution is. He has been in David vs Goliath situations. He has historical cases featured in newspapers and magazines like The New Yorker, or you can find his cases in academic books on criminal law. But that’s the last thing he cares about. He is focused on beating the prosecution case, but most importantly, he cares about demonstrating your innocence. He will fight for you, call him.

I was falsely accused of two sexual felonies and was facing 17 to 39 years in prison. That amount of time would equate to life in prison for crimes I never commited. My life was coming apart and because the system is heavily stacked against the defendant, I was almost hopeless. We hired Rick Lougee because of his reputation as an outstanding attorney and his over 40 years of experience working difficult cases, especially sex related cases in multiple states. He took my case and immediately, between his investigators and his team, began to build the case proving that the charges were unfounded. He was very honest with me about what to expect and always prepared me for the next step. He was also very empathetic and understood on a gut level what I was going through being unjustly accused of a terrible crime. I am a multiple tour combat veteran and it is no exaggeration to say that this situation was the most terrifying of my life. Rick’s experience and knowledge of the law, law enforcement officers, prosecutors and CPS officials was unquestionable and invaluable. It is not hyperbole to say that he and his team saved my life. I would highly recommend Mr. Lougee to anyone facing serious criminal allegations. He is literally the best of the best!

In December of 2019, my grandfather and I were looking for someone to help with estate planning for both him and my grandmother. My grandmother was already very ill and my grandfather, although still alive is also not very well, and they wanted to make sure they had everything planned accordingly for when they pass. I happened to find John on Facebook through someone’s recommendation, and within a week or so he had us in his office, explaining everything and stopping at nothing to make sure they got everything they wanted and needed when it came to estate planning. As mentioned before, my grandmother was very ill from cancer and chemotherapy, and in order for her to sign the required documents, John would have to come to her. He didn’t hesitate at all to visit my grandparents personally in their home, so that she could sign what she needed and keep her wishes even during a time where she was becoming increasingly ill. My grandmother did pass 3 months later, but spoke every day as to how kind and respectful John was to her, and how he truly let her have her final wishes with the most respect and dignity. That is something that I will forever respect and appreciate, that he went to all lengths to make sure her final wishes were met. Whenever we need John, have a question or absolutely anything else, he makes himself available as soon as possible. He is the kindest, hardest working and respectful person that has ever worked with our family. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about him. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, respectful lawyer that will go out of his way to make sure you get what you need and deserve, he is your guy! Of all the attorneys I ever worked with- this individual was one of the most helpful individuals I ever met in my life., I am a physician - I had a problem with an administration playing games that are not uncommon in Tucson. Hardy understood the problem even after my meandering attempt to explain the problem. He was able to see the problem clearly and took the appropriate steps to get the problem administration- to understand their behavior was unprofessional and was inconsistent with their own policies and procedures- and their unrealistic demands to try and get us to work several additional hours without proper compensation represents harassment. Although the same agency is still harassing their current staff- Hardy's help put the agency on notice. It allowed me and several others to escape the poor working conditions they were imposing on their entire staff. Without Hardy's help- the agency would of kept making unfair and unrealistic demands on the staff and myself. Before consulting with Hardy- the agency was ignoring its own policies and procedures - and making unfair demands at their staff. Staff who did not follow these demands were fired and threatened they agency would report this to the employees licensing board. The agency removed important protections for the workers that was written in clear language in their policy and procedures. Hardy made it clear to the agency they were in violation of their own rules. After his notification- several of us were able to successfully get out of our contracts because their demands were in clear violation of policy. When we tried to point this out to the administration before I consulted Hardy- the administration used smoke and mirrors to justify their improper demands. After Hardy made it clear that the agency was violating their own policy with their demands the administration quickly backed away from their demands and most of the staff who were effected - were able to leave the agency. If it was not for Hardy- this would never of happened- and we would of been forced to work in a hostile environment.
I recommend Hardy without any reservations- he really saved many of our staff and myself from continued harassment from the agencies medical director and her distorted use of the agencies own guidelines.

My experience working with John Leader could not have been better! My case (including all of the Appeals) lasted over 7 years. Throughout the entire process (which was very emotional and difficult for me), John was knowledgeable, communicative, yet understanding and comforting in regards to what I was going through. Last but not least....we won our case (which had never been done before against this entity), and prevailed through 3 appeals! The judgement exceeded all of our expectations. I relied on Corey to help with a somewhat simple post-decree child support case, complicated by the military retirement system. He was on top of everything and fully understood the military pay system and military law as it pertains to family law in Arizona. Corey was hired by me to defended a series of charges. The first charge was for several felony charges that where levied against me for a medical marijuana grow and patient cooperative that did not meet the letter of the law in compliance. After being let out on bail, a traffic stop resulted in a second set of charges by the Pima County Sheriffs department. They siezed my vehicle and charged me with 3 additional felonies. The second charges were an over charge trying to create a case or patern when one did not exist. The first resulted in a plea that ultimately was an undesignated felony that reduced to a misdemeanor after successfully completing my probation and cumminity service. The second set of charges, were ultimately fully dismissed. The Sheriffs department recharged me in different courts after each dismissal but ultimately Corey was able to get all charges dismissed once he could argue the case. Corey was there to explain what was happening and arguing hard for me. He took a very unpleasnt experience and got me a great resolution to a horrible situation. I highly recommend him.

Our case began in 2022 and just closed in 2024. There were some very difficult moments but we are beyond thrilled to finally hear, that this case against us has been officially closed.

I was involved in a car crash where a guy with a 20ft trailer passed me on the shoulder of the one lane on-ramp shortly before entering the freeway. I was represented by an attorney who dropped the case when I was unwilling to accept a ridiculous settlement offer from the insurance company (Allstate). I called all of those injury / accident law offices which advertise constantly on the radio and billboards, the answer was always the same „Sorry, if it’s already in litigation, we are unable to take the case“
When I was about to give up and represent myself, I stumbled upon Eric’s phone number and I was surprised that I was able to talk to him directly, not through some „intake secretary“. He immediately told me that he would be happy to represent me but that he had an appointment on the day of the hearing which was scheduled a few days later. He called the court and was able to get another continuance, (the hearing had already been rescheduled several times).
The end of the story: We won the case. Eric was extremely well prepared and I was impressed how he presented the case. I don’t think that any attorney could have done a better job. The other party was represented by a mean former prosecutor who tried to blame me for the crash. I am not sure what the outcome would have been without Eric.

I was in the middle of a personal injury case that started heading south in late 2007. Mr Thomson guided me through the process necessary to substitute him as my counsel. His representation through a trial setting resulted in a defense counsel, representing my opponent, offering five times the settlement amount that was offered through prior counsel. He explained to me later that not all attorneys accept pi clients with his commitment to follow it through a trial setting. In my experience, his professionalism and courtesy toward me as with others involved was beyond exceptional. As client, my views were in part unrealistic and perhaps naive or ignorant are accurate descriptors. Anyway, he remained cool headed right down to the wire and set aside time for me along the way and afterwards to make sure I felt in the know. I think that you will agree his people skills and professional candor make him second to none. I mean that he won't waste your time and you will find his manner extraordinary.

Jim Penney has successfully assisted with multiple unfortunate civil issues encountered here in Southeastern Arizona.
In a government position, a female co-worker made bogus accusations that she had been sexually harassed. When it came time for the deposition, she suddenly had a severe case of amnesia and in fact became quite angry when Jim caught her in her insatiable scenario of lies.
At a retail store, a female manager kept using unwelcomed words of endearment such as “hon, daring, sweetie…” when we were not dating. After multiple requests to stop such conduct, termination was the ultimate punishment. Jim was able to obtain a “Right to Sue Letter” from the E.E.O.C.
An H.O.A. President felt it was OK for females to enter the Men’s shower facility unannounced. An effective but diplomatic warning from Jim took care of that problem.
Another employer felt it was appropriate to terminate an employee for reporting serious health and safety issues on the job site in addition to known sex offenders hanging out in the children’s area. His representation earned an unemployment insurance claim.

He was very honest and forthright in telling me what my case was worth and why. He handled all the negotiations with the hospital on my behalf.
