Our family would highly recommend this elder law practice. We needed a family trust which included disinheriting a predatory family member including all the heirs and potential heirs of that family member. Everyone at this law group handled everything in a very caring and thorough way. We started with a questionnaire that was thoughtful and addressed all of our needs. The staff walked us through changing all of our financial accounts into the name of the trust, so that we feel protected. I know that for the money spent, we have gotten such a wonderful value in knowing that we have peace of mind.

I had a unforseen probate on the Island of Hawaii that was triggered with a property sale. The title company had referred me to Ms. Bodey, we had a consultation and after that Ms. Bodey had agreed to represent me in closing out my mother's probate. We did all of this via email and phone conversations. I live on the mainland and the process went very smoothly. All my expectations were met. After my mother passed away I needed to sell her home in Kona, and I have never bought or sold a home before - it was all new to me.
I live on the mainland, and Donna was recommended by a family friend in Kona. I spoke to her on the phone and was very impressed by her knowledge of real estate law, her professionalism, and her communication skills. We got good advice from Donna (disclosure list, etc.).
We also had her look over anything we were given, by the realtor or the escrow company, to sign. She said the forms looked pretty standard, but there were a few things she had us change - she had our best interest at heart. My husband and I agreed that paying for an attorney look things over was well worth it for our peace of mind, and fortunately Donna’s rates were very reasonable.
After escrow closed we asked Donna to apply for the HARPTA refund, and about six months later we got the entire amount!
So thank you, Donna Payesko, for being there when we needed you and for helping to make sure everything went smoothly! Mahalo!

Mr. Richard Sakoda is a very hardworking individual that has one goal in mine, and that goal is keeping his clients satisfied going above and beyond the scope of work requirements to ensure all areas of your problems are satisfied. He discusses all relevant factors about your case, gives you alternatives, and provides advice in making the best decision to your case.
In our family experience, we have gone through three -(3) Lawyers, but we were not satisfied with their work we requested. We needed a legalized Will written to assure others won't have the ability to take away assets and properties that the deceased will leave to the appointed person/caretaker. But each Laywer we went to and paid to write the Will, were not exactly how we explained to them and therefore the Will needed to be rewritten. Instead of having the same Lawyer to redo the Will, we seek another Lawyer. A friend recommended Mr. Richard Sakoda. We met with him, asked questions and he were straight-forward with his answers. We told him our situation and what we wanted done. He immediately commenced working on the issue that we wanted fixed of which previous Lawyers we went to did not do unless we paid additional fee. Mr. Sakoda accomplished the Will the way we exactly wanted it to be done and completed it in a timely manner. We are now releived that no one; especially other family members, will not be able to intrude and be disruptive in making every effort to take-away or be a part owner of properties and assets that the deceased leave behind to the appointed person.
Mr. Sakoda is a good listener with unique combination of intuitive and analytical abilities. I highly recommend Mr. Sakoda to any person seeking assistance in writting a legalized Will as he is a professional and one of the best Lawyers that provides satisfaction guarantee to his clients.

Jennifer did a great job explaining my rights and things I was giving up when signing a prenup. She gave examples on what it could mean for me, and also showed me how the law in Hawaii actually works.
As a non-US citizen it was really helpful to understand how everything works, and really glad that Jennifer simplified everything for me.
I would call her a modern day lawyer that uses both a business and personal approach to keep you as client very comfortable but at the same time well informed. She also is someone that would not sell additional unnecessary consultations or services, and just gets to the point.

I consulted Jennifer for preparation of a somewhat unconventional estate plan with some forwardlooking aspects of administration risks. Jennifer grasped the concept immediaely and she and I worked out appropriate language. She delivered timely and even provided a witness to my will--another lawyer. She did this for about a thousand dollars less than her estimate. Upon signing the documents, I had my trust immediately hire her to represent the trust, confident that upon my death, it would be in good hands.

I had Attorney Sean Scott as a Business Law professor in school and knew he practiced what he taught. Some business partners and I started a company and I knew that we would be moving headquarters from the DC beltway area to Florida. I immediately contacted Sean and he was eager to help and come on board as our legal counsel. Instead of "going through the motions" he wanted to know as much about the company as possible. When someone asks me for information in the amount of a glass of water, I tend to open up a fire hose worth of information. He never rushed me and asked more questions to better establish the structure, organization, vision, and strategy of the company, so he could best identify how to set-up our company structure in Florida. He has incorporated our company, and created/drafted documents in our record book (articles, minutes, membership units, changes to our registrations and ownership, operating agreements, buy-sell agreements, special meetings, dissociations, power of attorneys, certificates of incumbency, purchase agreements, security agreements, etc.). He has also reviewed contracts, NDAs, teaming agreements, and non-compete/non-circumvent agreements.
I hired Mr. Scott originally to re-incorporate our company in Florida, but as our business model solidified it was apparent we would be needing an on-call legal counsel. Sean transitioned with ease and took on the added workload. He has always communicated promptly and thoroughly, and has never rushed off the phone during a call. He prioritizes efficiently and if something is going to take a little bit longer, he calls or emails with the reason for any delay and when the expected time of completion would be. We are a small business and nothing we have had to address is "urgent" so we told Mr. Scott from the beginning that if other more important work comes up, just let us know and we will be more than happy to take a back seat. We understand we are not his only client and are understanding of the dynamic legal practice environment.
I would highly recommend Sean Scott for any business law questions, concerns, or legal services. He is honest (rare in the business), detailed, and diligent. I loathe not being kept in communications, and Sean has been in constant contact throughout our business relationship. I have worked with other firms and they stand by the "no news is good news" motto which to me causes concern and anxiety when dealing with legal matters. I am glad for once I hit the jackpot for our legal representation needs.

Mr. Diehl was exceptional in handling my case. Being that there were children involved and I was never married, paternity case, it wasn't something he dealt with often. There were a lot of agencies that came into play. Mr. Diehl easily navigated through every process to do exactly what was best for his client, me, and ultimately for the children. He is extremely ethical, straight arrow and will not let his clients step out of line. As a client I learned a lot from him. I also had an outcome that did not prospered temporarily, but permanently. The strategy he used made everyone live to a higher standard.
We went into court in 2006/07 and wrapped it up in 2013. He stuck with me the entire time that the other party kept striking. He had us endure til the end. I value his service higher than what the money charged could ever be. Why? Because 3 years later my two boys are honor roll kids, one attended Berkeley at 14 years old and the younger boy is in Project Lead The Way. That happened because the expectation he put in play for those boys parents were at a standard that he believed could be attained. My boys father and I get along great for the children. The orders were all done by Mr. Diehl. He is extremely knowledgeable in his arena. I can say with confidence, "best of the best". I feel I'm not even qualified to make a review on someone of this caliber. But I want everyone to know that credit needs to be due, he deserves that along with his assistant Susan Y. Amazing people.

Very seldom does a person get to deal with a professional who deserves more than 5 stars! Thankfully we were able to find such a person in the sad period after our good friend died in Honolulu, HI.
We needed an estate and probate attorney to discuss and handle the distribution of the estate. We contacted Samuel Suen by email on a Sunday. He responded within a few hours and we set up a conference call for the following morning. Mr. Suen answered all our questions clearly in both a friendly and professional manner.
At the end of an hour-long discussion, for which there was no charge, I asked how we would pay his very reasonable hourly rate. Much to our surprise, he said we shouldn't hire him because there was no need to probate this particular will.
His honesty and forthrightness was amazing! We tried to figure out some reason to hire him but to no avail. Ultimately we wished him a very fond farewell.
Based on our experience, if you need an estate or probate attorney, you can't do better than Samuel Seun.

Tyson advised my family through a very sticky legal estate issue. He was incredibly responsive and thorough in answering questions, and gave sound advice. The job ended up being more complicated than anticipated, but the total amount was within the range that he had estimated because he was very clear in explaining "if X, then it could be about $5,000, but if Y and Z happen, it could run up to $15,000-20,000". I appreciated Tyson's calm advice and speedy responses to time sensitive matters. I am so glad we found Tyson to help with our estate issues.
