Michael Friedman helped me and my family do what seemed to be impossible - get the DWP to rescind a false and egrigious $51,000 water bill! My elderly parents were tormented with service shutoff and collection threats for 8.5 months for not paying this outrageous bill. For 8.5 months we tried to get DWP (via phone, email and in person) to investigate the nature of this bill to no avail. No one ever responded. Finally, when Mr. Friedman got on the case, within two weeks my parents' case was resolved and the monster of a bill was rescinded, accompanied by a public apology from the DWP broadcast on national television. Thanks to Michael Friedman my parents and finally have peace of mind after 8.5 months of torment. Words can't adequately describe our gratitude.

John and I must have worked on at least 100 cases together. I (the litigation manager) always knew exactly what to expect, anticipate, in the case because he kept me informed. He was excellent in partnering with the adjuster. I knew he would never let me make a mistake. I retained Nicholas D’Amico from December 2, 2021, to March 8, 2023, for a case against the Ojai Valley Sanitary District (OVSD). Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, and his critical mistakes led to severe financial consequences.
Miscalculation of Filing Deadline
Mr. D'Amico advised me on the wrong filing deadline for a writ of mandate. I filed it on the date he specified, but OVSD successfully filed a demurrer because we missed the actual deadline. This error was costly. I ended up paying thousands to him to defend his mistake, which drained my resources and forced me to abandon my case, leaving it unadjudicated. This not only impacted me directly, but the failure to get a decision on the merits could cost other homeowners in the Ojai Valley hundreds of thousands of dollars in unlawful fees imposed by OVSD.
Financial Impact
My case was intended to seek relief from a $12,500 bill, but I paid over $6,000 in attorney fees due to Mr. D'Amico's error. His mistake consumed all of my financial resources, and I had to drop the case entirely, losing the chance to present my case in court. On top of this, I was forced to pay his fees as he attempted to fix his own mistake.
In summary, my experience with Mr. D’Amico was highly disappointing. His miscalculation of the filing deadline and the resulting financial strain not only cost me personally, but potentially left other Ojai Valley homeowners without a key legal challenge to OVSD's questionable fees. I cannot recommend his services based on these severe errors and being forced to pay his fees to try to fix his own mistake.

I had a complicated small claims situation involving a company working on my house, and I needed advice on how to build a case as the plaintiff. At first I had such a difficult time explaining the situation I was in that I was dismissed and ghosted by 4-5 lawyers in a row. I don't know if it was my inability to explain the situation clearly or my status that lead people to take me less seriously (female, recent first-time mother, and I look and sound fairly young), but it was a very frustrating position to be in. I was starting to feel hopeless.
Then I found Nicholas. From the beginning he was very patient and an excellent listener, which is exactly what I needed to lay out the situation and figure out a path forward. He never talked over or down to me, always with honesty and kindness. For a very reasonable hourly rate, he helped me build a convincing case, and explained what I would need to prove my argument in court. He always responded within a day by email to all my questions, and sometimes within the hour. I felt very prepared for the court date and the judge ruled in my favor, awarding me significant compensation for the damages the defendant caused.
I would recommend Nicholas to anyone, but especially if you feel like you haven't been listened to by other lawyers. If you have a meritorious case, I'm sure Nicholas can help you.

This guy (even after being given a large retainer) will never call you back, he's never available and after 5 months of >NOTHING< I asked for my retainer returned to me (over the voice mail because he and her are NEVER available) and I FINALLY got it back after leaving many messages. I think this guy is tired, burnt out, not interested really, in helping you out. I never even met him either~every time I went there to meet with him he was "in court."...yea, right. I am a professional landlord and home buyer/flipper. I have dealt with many law firms but this is probably the absolute most unprofessional and one of the worst law firms I’ve had to deal with. I was referred to this law firm by my wife. I had some collection matter and the main attorney told me that he will take care of it and in fact I had a small claims court which he said to dismiss it and he will take care of it. Now having dismiss my lawsuit and small claims over a month ago it’s been almost 6 weeks since I’ve heard from this attorney. Despite me emailing him and voicing my concern and frustration For not hearing from him he has not bothered to call me back. Save your $ amd time and go somewhere
