My son was taken from his mother by DCFS I didn’t know this happened until 4 and half month after he was placed in a strangers house ! And this was the second DCFS case the first one I was the victim that didn’t press charges or show up to the case because my logic was I was the victim in that case so how do I need to show up ? Well I was very wrong and my rights to my son were limited to 1 supervised visit per year! So for 4 years I was basically paying her to see my kid and I was paying large sums of money to do so. When I showed up to court, the court provided me with so free but terrible lawyer I left court and was reaching out to her and her office with no response calling 4-5 times a day for over a week and that wasn’t gonna work! So I literally meet or had phone conversations with every attorney that deals with these type of cases and I only had a good feeling about Matt so I retained him he promised to get me full custody of my son and we came up with a solid game plan and instructed me every step of the way he was also was my therapist and a very patient friend because I too was in the system when I was a child so I was very hard to witness my child going through the same traumatic situation , Long story short Sole physical custody and the mom only gets a 4 hour visit per month this was my dream and it’s a reality now !!!

Very thankful for the time and attention on my case! My case is very complex and multifaceted. Attorney Matt has remained unfazed and calm throughout this whole process even when put in situations he was not prepared for due to DPSS changing things up on the spot at the last minute which was out of his control. Still, he remained professional kind and overall got the job done! My case went to trial, Matt took note of everything I said and shared with him during the months awaiting trial and unloaded it all during trial eloquently. His desire to serve everyone he can is truly inspiring and shows his passion. He is talented and skilled. Communication was flexible and after hours at time which I appreciated. I appreciate his strategy and look forward to working with him in upcoming hearings aswell. As his website says, he pretty much does it ALL! My son is home and well and my family and I are all so thankful! Thank you Matt! Appreciate your time, effort and support. See ya soon and thank you thank you thank you! If you’re looking for a trustworthy, honest rep that knows his stuff #gowithKoohanim

He teamed up and took the case over with Allison Margolin to do me extreme justice. I had a Marijuana sales case to an undercover officer. Raza worked relentlessly to get me a win in the case. I had a prior strike and was facing about 4 years. With his hard work he had the case reduced to a Misdemeanor, and summary probation until the Community Service was completed. Thanks Again. I recommend him to anyone in need of help to keep their freedom.

Raza and her partner were able to help me with an outstanding warrant of 2 years of which I had no idea I had against me until I found out through a background check done on me. I spoke to other attorneys before and not only were they more expensive but they said it could take weeks, even months to get this resolved. Raza was able to do it on the first day he went to the court house for me! I am extremely happy I was able to find such good attorneys who keep their word and work hard for their clients. If you need legal advice or representation, look no further.

I called upon Raza of Margolin and Lawrence when things looked very grim for me coming up on trial for a felony DUI. I was referred by a close friend who had hired them. Raza was able to minimize my sentence with 3 days left before trial when my other lawyer admitted to me that things didn't look good for me and he had no other recourse. I wish I would have hired them off the bat, would have had an ideal outcome, I'm sure of it. They are especially familiar with judges and courtrooms in LA county

Silva was a very sweet, caring attorney. She always called me when she had updates and made sure i had everything done and was prepared for court. I was charged with 3 misdemeanors. Silva had me do online courses and everything to look good for when it was time for court. Thanks to Silva she worked her magic and got all 3 misdemeanors dropped. Best in the game, trustworthy, and definitely knows what she’s doing.

I wish to express my gratitude to Silva, if it wasn’t for her professionalism, caring, calm demeanor, and her experience, I’m not sure how I would have navigated this nightmare of a situation. She showed an understanding of not just her knowledge of the law but how situations affect a persons mental health, anxiety, worry, concern of the unknown. Because of this it helped both my self and my family worry less and get through these months with less emotional backlash. I would very much recommend Silva and will always keep her information on hand not just for my self but for any friends or family that should need her expertise.

What a Sex Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A sex crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals accused of sexual offenses, which can include charges such as sexual assault, rape, indecent exposure, child pornography, solicitation, and other related crimes. Being charged with a sex crime carries severe legal and social consequences, including potential imprisonment, mandatory registration as a sex offender, fines, and long-term stigma. A sex crime lawyer has the expertise to navigate the complex legal system, protect your rights, and develop a strategic defense to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.

When Should I Hire a Sex Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sex crime lawyer immediately if:

  • You are under investigation: If law enforcement contacts you for questioning or you become aware that you are a suspect in a sex crime investigation, it's crucial to seek legal representation before speaking with authorities.
  • You have been arrested or charged: Promptly hiring a lawyer upon arrest or formal charges allows for early intervention in your case, which can be critical for your defense.
  • Searches and seizures have occurred: If your property, such as your home or electronic devices, has been searched or seized in connection with a sex crime investigation, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
  • You are facing related legal issues: If you're dealing with restraining orders, custody disputes, or other legal matters stemming from the allegations, a lawyer can provide comprehensive legal support.

What Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Do?

A sex crime lawyer provides a range of legal services to defend and support you throughout the legal process:

  • Legal consultation and advice: They will explain the charges against you, outline your rights, and advise you on the best course of action.
  • Case investigation: The lawyer will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and identifying inconsistencies or weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
  • Defense strategy development: They will develop a tailored defense strategy, which may include challenging the credibility of evidence, disputing the legality of how evidence was obtained, or presenting alternative explanations.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: Your lawyer can negotiate plea bargains or reduced charges when appropriate, aiming to minimize potential penalties.
  • Court representation: They will represent you in all court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing, advocating on your behalf.
  • Protecting your rights: The lawyer ensures that your constitutional rights are upheld throughout the legal process, including protection against unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or violations of due process.
  • Post-trial assistance: If necessary, they can assist with appeals, sentence modifications, or matters related to sex offender registration.

How Are Sex Crime Lawyers Paid?

Sex crime lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee for the time spent working on your case. Rates can vary widely based on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: A set amount that covers specific services or the entirety of your case, which can provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer fee: An upfront payment from which the lawyer deducts hourly fees and expenses as they work on your case. You may need to replenish the retainer if it is exhausted.
  • Payment plans: Some lawyers offer payment arrangements to make their services more affordable over time.

It's important to discuss payment structures and fees during your initial consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sex crime lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the charges, and the lawyer's experience. General cost estimates are:

  • Hourly rates: Typically range from $200 to $500 or more per hour.
  • Flat fees: For less complex cases, flat fees might range from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Total costs: Complex cases involving extensive investigation or a trial can cost $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
  • Additional costs: May include expert witness fees, investigative expenses, and court fees.

Always request a detailed fee agreement and discuss potential additional costs to avoid unexpected expenses.

How to Check the Credibility of a Sex Crime Lawyer

  • Verify their license: Ensure the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state's bar association.

  • Consultation feedback: Use the initial consultation to assess their communication style, professionalism, and confidence in handling your case.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a sex crime lawyer, bring the following:

  • Detailed account of events: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, locations, and any conversations.
  • Legal documents: Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Arrest records
    • Charging documents
    • Bail paperwork
    • Search warrants
    • Any correspondence from law enforcement or the court
  • Witness information: Provide names and contact information of any potential witnesses who can support your defense.
  • Evidence: Bring any physical evidence or records that may be relevant, such as emails, text messages, or social media interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer's experience.
  • Honesty: Be prepared to discuss all details openly and honestly; attorney-client privilege ensures confidentiality.
  • Goals and objectives: Be clear about what you hope to achieve, whether it's dismissing charges, reducing penalties, or addressing registration as a sex offender.

By being thoroughly prepared, you enable the lawyer to assess your situation effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your case.
