1 word = INCREDIBLE! On the day of court, as I was dropped off at the front of the courthouse, with his magnificent, precise, and sheer confident work, Jay had my case dismissed before my family found parking. Jaw dropping, I know. Jay is 1 of the best attorneys I have ever met. Not only does he have an extensive knowledge in law, his passion for law brings him up to a level of vastness that is above and beyond many in his field. Education is what makes a competent lawyer. When you add cunning and savvy on top is when you get Jay Mykytiuk. It was MY pleasure to have him as counsel and should you be so lucky to have such a bulletproof defence. If you look up the word APPRECIATIVE in a thesaurus you will find all the synonyms that describe counselor Mykytiuk at all times. Such humbleness to match his fiery and exemplary way of winning. If you want a vanquished case, Jay is your man. It is imperative that you acquire him as council, if you want pure triumphant victory, because everything he does is a magnificent conquest. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this experience a memorable, in a good way, slam - dunk counselor.

So I was facing Charges for driving while drunk in DC and they found my concealed carry (pistol) under my seat and my Virginia License to conceal carry wasn’t recognized by the District of Columbia. But Thankfully Mr. Shawn Sukumar’s amazing Knowledge and experience in his field was able to get the gun charges dropped and I was able to avoid any jail time (aside from the initial arrest) and in the end had 6 months unsupervised Probation with 90 hours of community service, 12 hours of an alcohol class, online driving safety course, Online MADD course and a 100 fee I believe was it. And after all that the judge signed a Youth act order meaning my conviction was removed from my record. All in all I was very satisfied with the end result of my case. Highly recommend this gentleman, he is very professional and makes sure his clients understand everything and is very good about staying in contact with his clients and keeping them updated. You would Definitely want him representing you if you needed an attorney.

Sukumar is the best lawyer! I hired him for my criminal case that he fought so hard for me for in my defense that the case was dismissed. I don't have enough words to describe how amazing the experience with him and the firm was. He works very hard to make sure you have winning results. He communicates with you by phone or email. He follow ups with you about your cases. I could not have asked for a better lawyer. He was awsome! From the moment I first hired him to represent me until my case was over, I was at ease and comfortable with him handling my case. If you need a criminal defense lawyer, I highly recommend Shawn Sukumar! Thank you Shawn!

Attorney Scrofano got my case dismissed! At the end of the day that's exactly what you want to be able to say as well and the only logical suggestion I could offer is that you hire him if you seek the same outcome. He's a really cool dude and a consummate professional. Speaking from experience he gets the job done no matter how difficult it may seem as I can attest personally. A1 Super Trial Lawyer for sure!!

I was falsely accused of a felony sexual assault and struck with absolute horror at what that would mean for me and my family. While I knew I was innocent I worried what a charge would do to my future even if it was beaten. I was unable to sleep, disoriented and anxiety-ridden. If you are finding yourself in that state I can assure you that you are putting yourself in good hands by reaching out to Joe Scrofano. I was given confident, competent advice at every step along the way. He managed to guide me through a well thought out plan and keep me informed throughout its execution. I was made aware of every possible outcome when faced with choices even when those possibilities were difficult to hear. Communication of these touchy subjects was always handled with the utmost professionalism and compassion. I am extremely thankful to report that after following the advice of Mr. Scrofano and having him work on my behalf no charges were brought against me. I cannot stress enough how trustworthy he is. My life was quite literally in his hands and I am forever grateful to have found him.

From the initial conversation until the end of my court case, Mr. Cooper was extremely professional, courteous, empathetic, patient, knowledgeable and a man of immediate action. He is very clear, concise, trustworthy, well connected and detailed when outlining his expectations to assist me in making my case easier to expedite. Before meeting Mr Cooper, I was extremely confused with my case and so many parties involved but he made each step seamless the moment he took over. He was easy to reach at any time and was thorough in his explanations. At the end of the day, he ensured that all parties were satisfied, understood the specifics as well s even followed up afterwards. I would highly recommend Mr Cooper to anyone that is seeking a true professional that knows their craft inside and out!

What a Sex Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A sex crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals accused of sexual offenses, which can include charges such as sexual assault, rape, indecent exposure, child pornography, solicitation, and other related crimes. Being charged with a sex crime carries severe legal and social consequences, including potential imprisonment, mandatory registration as a sex offender, fines, and long-term stigma. A sex crime lawyer has the expertise to navigate the complex legal system, protect your rights, and develop a strategic defense to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.

When Should I Hire a Sex Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sex crime lawyer immediately if:

  • You are under investigation: If law enforcement contacts you for questioning or you become aware that you are a suspect in a sex crime investigation, it's crucial to seek legal representation before speaking with authorities.
  • You have been arrested or charged: Promptly hiring a lawyer upon arrest or formal charges allows for early intervention in your case, which can be critical for your defense.
  • Searches and seizures have occurred: If your property, such as your home or electronic devices, has been searched or seized in connection with a sex crime investigation, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
  • You are facing related legal issues: If you're dealing with restraining orders, custody disputes, or other legal matters stemming from the allegations, a lawyer can provide comprehensive legal support.

What Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Do?

A sex crime lawyer provides a range of legal services to defend and support you throughout the legal process:

  • Legal consultation and advice: They will explain the charges against you, outline your rights, and advise you on the best course of action.
  • Case investigation: The lawyer will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and identifying inconsistencies or weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
  • Defense strategy development: They will develop a tailored defense strategy, which may include challenging the credibility of evidence, disputing the legality of how evidence was obtained, or presenting alternative explanations.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: Your lawyer can negotiate plea bargains or reduced charges when appropriate, aiming to minimize potential penalties.
  • Court representation: They will represent you in all court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing, advocating on your behalf.
  • Protecting your rights: The lawyer ensures that your constitutional rights are upheld throughout the legal process, including protection against unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or violations of due process.
  • Post-trial assistance: If necessary, they can assist with appeals, sentence modifications, or matters related to sex offender registration.

How Are Sex Crime Lawyers Paid?

Sex crime lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee for the time spent working on your case. Rates can vary widely based on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: A set amount that covers specific services or the entirety of your case, which can provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer fee: An upfront payment from which the lawyer deducts hourly fees and expenses as they work on your case. You may need to replenish the retainer if it is exhausted.
  • Payment plans: Some lawyers offer payment arrangements to make their services more affordable over time.

It's important to discuss payment structures and fees during your initial consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sex crime lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the charges, and the lawyer's experience. General cost estimates are:

  • Hourly rates: Typically range from $200 to $500 or more per hour.
  • Flat fees: For less complex cases, flat fees might range from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Total costs: Complex cases involving extensive investigation or a trial can cost $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
  • Additional costs: May include expert witness fees, investigative expenses, and court fees.

Always request a detailed fee agreement and discuss potential additional costs to avoid unexpected expenses.
