I had the privilage of working with attorney Geoffrey Puryear and his team, Kevin Garcia, and Camila Montoya on my son's case. I am incredibly grateful for their outstanding representation. From our initial consultation and throughout the entire process they were nothing short of exceptional. Geoffrey Puryear demonstrated a deep understanding of the law always giving a clear explanation of the legal process, putting our minds at ease during the most challenging time. The entire team was professional, supportive, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt informed and supported throught the entire process. Their dedication and expertise were evident in the outcome of my son's case. I highly recommend Geoffrey Puryear and his team, Kevin Garcia, and Camila Montoya. Thank you for everything you have done for us.

Geoffrey and Justin and all of the folks at Coffer and Connelly took great care of me and my case. I was wrongfully accused of criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, and there was a threat of charging me with assaulting a police officer. The day that these alleged crimes occurred was the worst day of my life. I was tased (twice), beaten, and zip tied by APD in my own front yard. When I was alerted to the potential of a warrant being issued for my arrest, I consulted and then hired Geoffrey and the Coffer Connelly team. Under Geoffrey and Justins guidance, we allowed my warrant to go through so that Geoffrey and Justin could work with the prosecution to prove my innocence. ( I was nervous about this strategy, but I had faith in their experience) The lead detective on the case was adamant that I was the one who committed the criminal trespass and criminal mischief. Ultimately- Geoffrey and Justin handled everything. I didn’t have a single conversation with any of the APD staff, even when they continued to call me and attempted to incriminate me over the phone. Geoffrey and Justin managed to prove that I was in fact, not- the criminal who committed those crimes, by way of my facial hair. (The other guy that the prosecuting team had a photo of, didn’t have the sweet facial hair that I have) The charges were dropped and the firm is currently working to have the charges completely expunged from my record. When sh*t happens and you need an understanding lawyer that treats the law “like art and less of a science”- hire this firm. Justin (the ex-APD chief (I think)) did an amazing job consolidating the facts to ease the process of having the charges dropped. Geoffrey and Justin were very understanding of my terrible experience and supported me along the way. We even had a few laughs over zoom! Justin even allowed me to personally call him a few times for guidance when APD wouldn’t leave me alone. Having Justin on the team is a real ace in hand. His experience and connections with APD made him incredibly valuable throughout the process. While I don’t intend to get wrapped up in any other criminal nonsense, if I did- I wouldn’t think twice about calling Geoffrey and Justin and the team at Coffer and Connelly. I highly recommend this firm. 10/10. Do recommend. So what are you waiting for? Better get that retainer in before they have too many clients to take you on!

If you, a family member or a friend are in need of legal assistance, I highly recommend Keltin VonGonten! He may appear young, yet his experience and expertise spans far beyond his age. Keltin has been preparing cases for senior defense attorneys/icons in Texas Criminal Law for at more than 10 years. He has learned from the very best, yet adds his own amazing ability and foresight to determine just the rights steps needed to resolve your legal issues while achieving the very best possible outcome. Keltin goes above and beyond what you may expect from an attorney, treating his clients with the upmost respect and dignity while outlining the specific actions that must be taken in order to minimize any unpleasant results. I can describe him in two words, "Keltin Cares" and he is more that a defense lawyer, he is a friend to you and will treat you like family.

We hired Keltin to represent my son with charges stemming from possession of marijuana and a firearm. My son was only 18 at the time. We were worried about these charges jeopardizing his future. Keltin was able to able to get all charges dismissed. We couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Keltin communicated effectively and kept us apprised of the case's status as it proceeded. Thank you, Keltin!

Keltin VonGonten is a Godsend. He remedied long standing issues with our case. He listened to EVERY word we said, and acted according to our wishes. This man is intelligent AND compassionate, responds to any communication immediately, and seeks justice for all. I would recommend his services to ANYBODY, especially anybody that believes there is no hope. He will tell you that there is ALWAYS hope, and then back up his statement. We are forever grateful to him...truly my review does NOT do him justice. He was PERFECT....start to finish.

Incredible same day service and multiple attempts to serve. Lesley and her 5 Star team stayed on it. Body cam footage, detailed reports for the court, and incredible tenacity. Absolutely can't recommend highly enough. It took literal months to get this unwilling defendant served, 2 teams tried and failed before I found these awesome bruisers. 😎💪

He got my DUI case dismissed even after I got myself kicked off of pre-trial diversion. I still don’t know how he managed to do it but I’m so thankful for his help. I was going thru a very dark time in my life, but he really seemed to want the best for me and would check in just to ask about my mental health and sobriety every now and then. He gave me a couple of harsh lectures when I kept making things worse for myself and my case (and probably making his job much more difficult in the process) but it was all things that I definitely needed to hear and he never gave up on me. I highly recommend King Law and I’m so thankful I can finally start living my life again thanks to Michael King’s help.

I had a wonderful experience with Michael King he kept my expectations real and grounded, he never promised anything he couldn’t do but he never really gave up. He was patient with me even when it came to my payment plan, he worked with me knowing that I was having a hard time keeping up with the bill payments. He was available to talk even if it was more personal and not related to my case. He wanted to make sure that I was ok as a person rather than as a client. Even when I wasn’t dealing with Michael himself his staff was also very helpful and kept me in the loop just as much as he did. Overall I had greet experience with Micheal King, though I wish to never have to use him again he’ll be at the very top of my list in the event that I do need another lawyer.

Mr. King was both courteous and professional. He was hired on behalf of a family member who had been charged with a Federal Offence. Resulting in a dismissal. He was also hired on behalf of a family member who was charged with murder. Resulting in being found innocent by a jury of his peers. Mr. King worked diligently in both cases and kept in communication. I would highly recommend him for any criminal case. He is definitely The GOAT of lawyers for me.

What a Sex Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A sex crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals accused of sexual offenses, which can include charges such as sexual assault, rape, indecent exposure, child pornography, solicitation, and other related crimes. Being charged with a sex crime carries severe legal and social consequences, including potential imprisonment, mandatory registration as a sex offender, fines, and long-term stigma. A sex crime lawyer has the expertise to navigate the complex legal system, protect your rights, and develop a strategic defense to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.

When Should I Hire a Sex Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sex crime lawyer immediately if:

  • You are under investigation: If law enforcement contacts you for questioning or you become aware that you are a suspect in a sex crime investigation, it's crucial to seek legal representation before speaking with authorities.
  • You have been arrested or charged: Promptly hiring a lawyer upon arrest or formal charges allows for early intervention in your case, which can be critical for your defense.
  • Searches and seizures have occurred: If your property, such as your home or electronic devices, has been searched or seized in connection with a sex crime investigation, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
  • You are facing related legal issues: If you're dealing with restraining orders, custody disputes, or other legal matters stemming from the allegations, a lawyer can provide comprehensive legal support.

What Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Do?

A sex crime lawyer provides a range of legal services to defend and support you throughout the legal process:

  • Legal consultation and advice: They will explain the charges against you, outline your rights, and advise you on the best course of action.
  • Case investigation: The lawyer will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and identifying inconsistencies or weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
  • Defense strategy development: They will develop a tailored defense strategy, which may include challenging the credibility of evidence, disputing the legality of how evidence was obtained, or presenting alternative explanations.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: Your lawyer can negotiate plea bargains or reduced charges when appropriate, aiming to minimize potential penalties.
  • Court representation: They will represent you in all court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing, advocating on your behalf.
  • Protecting your rights: The lawyer ensures that your constitutional rights are upheld throughout the legal process, including protection against unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or violations of due process.
  • Post-trial assistance: If necessary, they can assist with appeals, sentence modifications, or matters related to sex offender registration.

How Are Sex Crime Lawyers Paid?

Sex crime lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee for the time spent working on your case. Rates can vary widely based on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: A set amount that covers specific services or the entirety of your case, which can provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer fee: An upfront payment from which the lawyer deducts hourly fees and expenses as they work on your case. You may need to replenish the retainer if it is exhausted.
  • Payment plans: Some lawyers offer payment arrangements to make their services more affordable over time.

It's important to discuss payment structures and fees during your initial consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sex crime lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the charges, and the lawyer's experience. General cost estimates are:

  • Hourly rates: Typically range from $200 to $500 or more per hour.
  • Flat fees: For less complex cases, flat fees might range from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Total costs: Complex cases involving extensive investigation or a trial can cost $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
  • Additional costs: May include expert witness fees, investigative expenses, and court fees.

Always request a detailed fee agreement and discuss potential additional costs to avoid unexpected expenses.

How to Check the Credibility of a Sex Crime Lawyer

  • Verify their license: Ensure the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state's bar association.
  • Experience and specialization: Look for a lawyer who specializes in criminal defense with a focus on sex crime cases.

  • Consultation feedback: Use the initial consultation to assess their communication style, professionalism, and confidence in handling your case.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a sex crime lawyer, bring the following:

  • Detailed account of events: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, locations, and any conversations.
  • Legal documents: Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Arrest records
    • Charging documents
    • Bail paperwork
    • Search warrants
    • Any correspondence from law enforcement or the court
  • Witness information: Provide names and contact information of any potential witnesses who can support your defense.
  • Evidence: Bring any physical evidence or records that may be relevant, such as emails, text messages, or social media interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer's experience.
  • Honesty: Be prepared to discuss all details openly and honestly; attorney-client privilege ensures confidentiality.
  • Goals and objectives: Be clear about what you hope to achieve, whether it's dismissing charges, reducing penalties, or addressing registration as a sex offender.

By being thoroughly prepared, you enable the lawyer to assess your situation effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your case.
