I contacted Mr. Welch a while back about a charge against me. I was speaking to him directly almost immediately. His knowledge of the inner workings of the criminal justice system made me feel comfortable in an otherwise difficult situation. He has always answered my calls, questions and concerns immediately. I had negative thoughts about what a defense attorney would be like, but Mr. Welch was patient, kind and professional in every interaction we have had. He has treated me like a family member and I aprreciate that to no end. I have and would continue to recommend him to anyone with a criminal justice problem!!

This is the1st of 3 reviews & counting for my attorney Mr. Wayne Housley. Mr. Wayne I do apologize for my tardiness on these reviews, but after being mentally, emotionally, n sometimes spiritually exhausted. It's taken a year to get here. I came to Mr Housley in Aug. 2019 in an unimaginable situation and one really difficult to wrap your mind around. The system is flawed don't take me the wrong, but I believed that if u did not do something like I was accused of it would be easy to prove ur innocent. Of course I believe if u did do something like I was charged with it will be easy for the DA to prove your guilty. Although ur supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but we all know it's rite the opposite. I met Mr Housley in Aug n met with him explained what I was charged with and why I was charged. Before I left the first meeting I knew he was who I needed to represent me. After about 30 minutes of conversation Mr Housley said something I will never forget n I quote"ok mr.william u have done the most important thing & that's convince me" and he gave a very reasonable price for him to represent me and we didn't close the deal that day,but I assured him he would hear back from me& a week or so later we talked again n I told him I decided to use him, n asked if he could give me a little time to come up with his fee,n without hesitation said he would. I needed him to represent me before I could pay him becaused I had already been indicted, I was arrested on a Friday evening around 6pm. The alleged crime was first reported around 3:30pm. That same day I was arrested n charged around 6pm n the judge didn't set me a bond until followingTuesday afternoon. I bonded out that same evening around 6pm. Little did I know they had already investigated a crime of this magnitude enuff that they gathered together a grand jury and I was indicted the next day& I had to go back to the jail& rebond out that next day which was on a Thurs. So in less than 7 days the alleged charges were reported n I was arrested n indicted in less than a week.Think about what I'm saying in less than 7 days I was charged n indicted. I know a little bit about the system, n I know that is unheard of just like all who is reading this knows it's unheard of as well. I'm goin to back up,but it was important that everyone reading this know how quickly from a crime being reported untill being indicted this was. There could not have possibly been any investigating like should have been in less than 7 days. Ok back to the good hearted attorney willing to work with a stranger knowing I couldn't pay him at the moment. My second meeting with Mr. Housley he had a question for me, n he asked me why did I choose to use him instead of the other attorney's I had met with. Which caught me off guard, but I loved the interest he had in how I'd made my decision. I told him he said he was convinced n I believed him. Mr Housley said circle the wagons. Social media shut down Now I'm a proud dad of four girls 27 21 16 & 15. 3 grand daughters coached city league softball n basketball for the past 15 years. No sm omg how do I keep up lol. Now I'm going to seem I'm bouncing around, but just bare with me, there is a purpose for that. FF to march 2021 the trial. We started picking jurors at 9am on a Wed. By lunchtime we had them picked opening statement began at 1pm. Day2 It was clear what thejudge expected from the jurors as he gave them their instructions before dismissing them for lunch& deliberation 45mins is how long it took the jurors to get their food, eat & return with a verdict. NOT GUILTY. The judge n da heard the same thing as the jurors. There never was an investigation the investigator did not do his job for his personal gain &at the cost of my family, my name, my reputation there is not a worse defamation of character that u can do to a man. People reading Im needn help I'm needn help to make sure this does not happen to any1 again. N it will this could hav easily been

I was very apprehensive about my case. I believed I should have my name cleared but was unsure whether I should press the issue. Mr. Carmody was very prepared. Extremely thorough. And most of all reassuring. I could not have been happier with his service and attention to detail.

What a Sex Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A sex crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals accused of sexual offenses, which can include charges such as sexual assault, rape, indecent exposure, child pornography, solicitation, and other related crimes. Being charged with a sex crime carries severe legal and social consequences, including potential imprisonment, mandatory registration as a sex offender, fines, and long-term stigma. A sex crime lawyer has the expertise to navigate the complex legal system, protect your rights, and develop a strategic defense to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.

When Should I Hire a Sex Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sex crime lawyer immediately if:

  • You are under investigation: If law enforcement contacts you for questioning or you become aware that you are a suspect in a sex crime investigation, it's crucial to seek legal representation before speaking with authorities.
  • You have been arrested or charged: Promptly hiring a lawyer upon arrest or formal charges allows for early intervention in your case, which can be critical for your defense.
  • Searches and seizures have occurred: If your property, such as your home or electronic devices, has been searched or seized in connection with a sex crime investigation, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
  • You are facing related legal issues: If you're dealing with restraining orders, custody disputes, or other legal matters stemming from the allegations, a lawyer can provide comprehensive legal support.

What Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Do?

A sex crime lawyer provides a range of legal services to defend and support you throughout the legal process:

  • Legal consultation and advice: They will explain the charges against you, outline your rights, and advise you on the best course of action.
  • Case investigation: The lawyer will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and identifying inconsistencies or weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
  • Defense strategy development: They will develop a tailored defense strategy, which may include challenging the credibility of evidence, disputing the legality of how evidence was obtained, or presenting alternative explanations.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: Your lawyer can negotiate plea bargains or reduced charges when appropriate, aiming to minimize potential penalties.
  • Court representation: They will represent you in all court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing, advocating on your behalf.
  • Protecting your rights: The lawyer ensures that your constitutional rights are upheld throughout the legal process, including protection against unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or violations of due process.
  • Post-trial assistance: If necessary, they can assist with appeals, sentence modifications, or matters related to sex offender registration.

How Are Sex Crime Lawyers Paid?

Sex crime lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee for the time spent working on your case. Rates can vary widely based on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: A set amount that covers specific services or the entirety of your case, which can provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer fee: An upfront payment from which the lawyer deducts hourly fees and expenses as they work on your case. You may need to replenish the retainer if it is exhausted.
  • Payment plans: Some lawyers offer payment arrangements to make their services more affordable over time.

It's important to discuss payment structures and fees during your initial consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sex crime lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the charges, and the lawyer's experience. General cost estimates are:

  • Hourly rates: Typically range from $200 to $500 or more per hour.
  • Flat fees: For less complex cases, flat fees might range from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Total costs: Complex cases involving extensive investigation or a trial can cost $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
  • Additional costs: May include expert witness fees, investigative expenses, and court fees.

Always request a detailed fee agreement and discuss potential additional costs to avoid unexpected expenses.

  • Honesty: Be prepared to discuss all details openly and honestly; attorney-client privilege ensures confidentiality.
