If you have anyone else representing you then you’re wrong. He actually cares and that’s a rare trait in people nowadays.

Stephen Pfeiffer was very upfront with outcomes so we could figure out what options we were working with. We greatly appreciate what you did for us at the end. Although we didn’t get the results we were wishing for we are aware there are always consequences to not abiding to the law. I can say he did great in helping us out as much as possible when it came to my husband’s situation.

Ms. Paulding was engaged as co-counsel for two felony charges, the most serious of which carried a very long prison sentence. Through her efforts the most serious charge was discontinued and the other charge resulted in probation. This process took over two years. During that time Ms. Paulding kept my wife and me informed and assured us of a positive outcome. Throughout we had utmost confidence in her abilities. Ms. Paulding was always well prepared and in court I found her to be a most determined advocate. I could not have had better legal representation.

She left a detailed message for Ms. Paulding through out the day she called me giving be updates on when Ms Paulding would call. Very understanding ecouraging and I really appreciate Ms Mary for that. She told me sit tight Ms Paulding would get with me over the weekend. Me thinking they dont work on weekends well Ms Paulding called me on Sunday and was very informational, professional, knowledgeable about my situation. I felt at ease she even offered to come with me to my interview but the situation made it difficult due to her schedule. Went to my interview today with the advice Ms.Mary and Ms.Paulding gave me and everything worked out in my favor. Thank you Ms Mary and Ms Paulding for going beyond the extra mile for me. Ms. Paulding is hands down the BEST lawyer you can have. She is not only well experienced, reliable, with incredible analytical, research and communication skills, and judgment but also she is an amazing person who treats her clients with not only respect but the care you need when in an unfortunate legal matter. I saw myself in a situation where I needed a lawyer for a felony charge my ex-husband got on me. This charge affected my finances, employment, family relations and mental health in immeasurable ways. I talked to a few lawyers and even hired another before coming across Ms. Paulding. It was a very stressful time of my life and I felt like I was ready to give up. From the moment I talked to her paralegal to set up the consultation, I knew it was the right choice, they both treated me with respect, understanding, and care as they were family members. As a client, you don't have to worry about hearing from her, if a phone call, text message, email is promised it will be delivered as expected. Ms. Paulding is well respected by other lawyers, prosecutors, judges, and the moment she steps into the room you know she will fight for you no matter what. She takes the time to explain things to you, she is patient and straightforward too. I'm extremely happy and thankful for all her and her paralegal Mary have done for me, they will go the extra mile and beyond for you and won't stop until they know things are taking care of. If you ever see yourself in need of a lawyer, Ms. Paulding is the right choice! Susana

I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend the law firm of McCormack and McCormack. I worked with this firm for nearly four years and in the end, I had my security clearance reinstated after multiple letters of intent stemming more than a decade. Although I was facing insurmountable odds, Greg McCormack and his highly-skilled paralegal assisted me in navigating the confusing and complex world of security clearances. His decades of experience and shrewd litigation skills overwhelmed the government’s case and left the appeals board without question as to my reliability and trustworthiness. If you are facing a security clearance issue, I strongly recommend you retain the services of Greg McCormack. There is simply too much at stake and relying on your own knowledge or the guidance of a lesser-experienced firm may prove to be an incredibly costly and life-altering mistake. I summary, I owe a debt of gratitude to this firm that I can never repay.

Greg McCormack was the only reason my case resulted in the most favorable outcome possible. If I hadn't had him on my case there is no way I would have gotten the result I wanted. His paralegal is also exceptionally skilled and very professional to work with. If you have a serious problem with a military legal issue, McCormack & McCormack is the only option.

DO NOT HIRE THIS LAW FIRM!!! I had the absolute worst experience with Eric Leckie and his team. I hired Eric back in 2018 to handle a theft case, and from the start, it was a disaster. After paying $5,000, I expected professionalism and proper representation, but what I got was the exact opposite. First, Eric switched my lawyer without even giving me a choice. I wasn’t even consulted about whether I wanted to work with the new lawyer. When I got arrested in Alabama and was being transferred to Virginia Beach, I tried to reach out for help, but all I got were empty promises. The new lawyer kept saying, “Oh, we’re good with bonds.” But when I got to Virginia, the story changed to, “You know you’re not getting a bond, this is a warrant from 2018.” Which one is it?! To make matters worse, the restitution for my case magically jumped from $6,300 to $9,200, and my lawyer didn’t even bother to investigate where that number came from. She didn’t fight for me AT ALL. She barely communicated with me, never answered my calls, and I was stuck talking to the paralegal every time. How are you charging someone $5,000 and not even providing direct access to the lawyer? No cell phone number, no sense of urgency, and absolutely no care for my case. This lawyer let the prosecutor walk all over her. She went along with everything the prosecutor wanted, and it felt like she was working against me instead of for me. I even had to OFFER to pay the restitution upfront just to get a measly one-month reduction on my sentence. What did I pay for if I still had to advocate for myself? This law firm is a complete scam. They’re quick to take your money but will leave you feeling uncomfortable, unrepresented, and stuck with no real help. If you value your freedom and your money, RUN from this firm. They don’t fight for your freedom—they just collect your money while you’re out here fighting for your life.

What a Sex Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A sex crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals accused of sexual offenses, which can include charges such as sexual assault, rape, indecent exposure, child pornography, solicitation, and other related crimes. Being charged with a sex crime carries severe legal and social consequences, including potential imprisonment, mandatory registration as a sex offender, fines, and long-term stigma. A sex crime lawyer has the expertise to navigate the complex legal system, protect your rights, and develop a strategic defense to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.

When Should I Hire a Sex Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sex crime lawyer immediately if:

  • You are under investigation: If law enforcement contacts you for questioning or you become aware that you are a suspect in a sex crime investigation, it's crucial to seek legal representation before speaking with authorities.
  • You have been arrested or charged: Promptly hiring a lawyer upon arrest or formal charges allows for early intervention in your case, which can be critical for your defense.
  • Searches and seizures have occurred: If your property, such as your home or electronic devices, has been searched or seized in connection with a sex crime investigation, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
  • You are facing related legal issues: If you're dealing with restraining orders, custody disputes, or other legal matters stemming from the allegations, a lawyer can provide comprehensive legal support.

What Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Do?

A sex crime lawyer provides a range of legal services to defend and support you throughout the legal process:

  • Legal consultation and advice: They will explain the charges against you, outline your rights, and advise you on the best course of action.
  • Case investigation: The lawyer will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and identifying inconsistencies or weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
  • Defense strategy development: They will develop a tailored defense strategy, which may include challenging the credibility of evidence, disputing the legality of how evidence was obtained, or presenting alternative explanations.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: Your lawyer can negotiate plea bargains or reduced charges when appropriate, aiming to minimize potential penalties.
  • Court representation: They will represent you in all court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing, advocating on your behalf.
  • Protecting your rights: The lawyer ensures that your constitutional rights are upheld throughout the legal process, including protection against unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or violations of due process.
  • Post-trial assistance: If necessary, they can assist with appeals, sentence modifications, or matters related to sex offender registration.

How Are Sex Crime Lawyers Paid?

Sex crime lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee for the time spent working on your case. Rates can vary widely based on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: A set amount that covers specific services or the entirety of your case, which can provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer fee: An upfront payment from which the lawyer deducts hourly fees and expenses as they work on your case. You may need to replenish the retainer if it is exhausted.
  • Payment plans: Some lawyers offer payment arrangements to make their services more affordable over time.

It's important to discuss payment structures and fees during your initial consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sex crime lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the charges, and the lawyer's experience. General cost estimates are:

  • Hourly rates: Typically range from $200 to $500 or more per hour.
  • Flat fees: For less complex cases, flat fees might range from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Total costs: Complex cases involving extensive investigation or a trial can cost $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
  • Additional costs: May include expert witness fees, investigative expenses, and court fees.

Always request a detailed fee agreement and discuss potential additional costs to avoid unexpected expenses.

  • Detailed account of events: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, locations, and any conversations.
  • Legal documents: Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Arrest records
    • Charging documents
    • Bail paperwork
    • Search warrants
    • Any correspondence from law enforcement or the court
  • Witness information: Provide names and contact information of any potential witnesses who can support your defense.
  • Evidence: Bring any physical evidence or records that may be relevant, such as emails, text messages, or social media interactions.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer's experience.
  • Honesty: Be prepared to discuss all details openly and honestly; attorney-client privilege ensures confidentiality.

By being thoroughly prepared, you enable the lawyer to assess your situation effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your case.
