It is hard to truly capture my full appreciation and recommendation for Attorney Benjamin Wurtzel. Most of us don't think we will need a criminal defense attorney in our lifetimes. I found myself in a situation where life changed in an instant and as a new mother in the midst of a major storm, I was in desperate need of competent and reliable counsel. The complexity of my case was astounding and I knew immediately after the initial consultation with Ben that he would be unlike other attorneys. The research he had done in a short time frame showed me that he was intelligent and diligent, with careful attention to details. (I spoke with several other attorneys who either rushed me off the phone or seemed genuinely perplexed by my situation - bringing zero confidence in their ability to help). Throughout the subsequent months, Ben kept me informed every step of the way, often wearing a very patient "teacher" hat, explaining the court and legal systems, since this world was quite foreign to me. I never for a second questioned his allegiance and surprisingly - his empathy (a rarity among lawyers I'm sure). I felt genuine concern and care in every correspondence which, to put it bluntly, brought much needed peace during very sleepless nights. This peace extended out to my anxious friends and family who also came to trust Ben and his instincts, even through they didn't personally know him. This to me, was priceless. I now see that an outstanding attorney cares about their clients, is knowledgeable of the law with a track record of success, is highly intuitive and able to both read people and circumstances quickly and is a master negotiator... Ben is all of these things and more. My case resulted in mostly dropped charges and a no-contest plea, for which I am forever grateful to soon put this season behind me. It's a tough job he has and while I hope I never need his services again (smile) I cannot recommend him enough to others who do.

My husband was in need of filing a motion to have his probation modified and we could not have been blessed with a better team. Ben was extremely thorough, patient, and knowledgeable. Something that my husband and I appreciated most was his willingness to provide us with realistic expectations throughout the entire process. We had our hearing today and by the grace of God and Bens hard work and expertise, the motion for modification was granted. We are in absolute awe of the outcome as it was a huge request that is not often granted. My husband and I are more than proud to call Ben and Lori our family lawyers and would recommend them without a doubt. Thank you Ben and Lori!!

I was referred to Lori by another lawyer. Since my case was very complicated it had many legal implications. The major concern was how best to navigate through the issues I had that would result in a favorable outcome. Starting with my first conversation with Lori she immediately set my mind at ease. From the very beginning she treated me with respect and empathy. Lori personally kept me well informed with the current situation of my case, what options were available and what the best course of action was. The many diverse and inspired arguments she proposed had a significant positive impact. She fought very hard on my behalf. Throughout she was very patient answering the myriad questions I asked and she was always very assuring during a very difficult, emotional and stressful time. When I did have difficulty understanding an answer she was always able to rephrase it in a manner that I could easily understand. As a result of all her efforts an out of court settlement was reached in my favor. Her knowledge and undressing of the law are inspirational and set a standard of competence that should be emulated by all lawyers. I am deeply grateful to have her as my attorney and thank her for “A JOB WELL DONE!” I highly recommend her, without reservation, to anyone needing legal representation.

In the midst of the most trying times my family has ever faced, we had the privilege of being introduced to Lori from Wurtzel Law. From Day 1, Lori demonstrated exceptional support, and guidance through a seemingly interminable process. What sets Lori apart from other attorneys I've encountered is her refusal to treat clients as mere billable hours. Instead, she demonstrates empathy for their circumstances and alleviates the burden of uncertainty through her unwavering confidence and professionalism. I wholeheartedly recommend her services without reservation. She was a tremendous source of assistance and support during our family's toughest moments.

This attorney is a certified scum bag. He's a scam artist, unprofessional, his personal hygiene is embarrassing, highly unprofessional, dishonest, no zeal or advocacy for his clients, no regard for bar rules, he'll dodge all communication attempts, the list goes on and on. A public defenders representation is far superior than that of William Fredrick Treabold III. I wouldn't accept his services even if offered Pro Bono. Avoid him or any firm that is foolish enough to associate with him. Unless of course you want to waste your time, your money and you prefer incarceration over freedom.

What a Sex Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A sex crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals accused of sexual offenses, which can include charges such as sexual assault, rape, indecent exposure, child pornography, solicitation, and other related crimes. Being charged with a sex crime carries severe legal and social consequences, including potential imprisonment, mandatory registration as a sex offender, fines, and long-term stigma. A sex crime lawyer has the expertise to navigate the complex legal system, protect your rights, and develop a strategic defense to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.

When Should I Hire a Sex Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sex crime lawyer immediately if:

  • You are under investigation: If law enforcement contacts you for questioning or you become aware that you are a suspect in a sex crime investigation, it's crucial to seek legal representation before speaking with authorities.
  • You have been arrested or charged: Promptly hiring a lawyer upon arrest or formal charges allows for early intervention in your case, which can be critical for your defense.
  • Searches and seizures have occurred: If your property, such as your home or electronic devices, has been searched or seized in connection with a sex crime investigation, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
  • You are facing related legal issues: If you're dealing with restraining orders, custody disputes, or other legal matters stemming from the allegations, a lawyer can provide comprehensive legal support.

What Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Do?

A sex crime lawyer provides a range of legal services to defend and support you throughout the legal process:

  • Legal consultation and advice: They will explain the charges against you, outline your rights, and advise you on the best course of action.
  • Case investigation: The lawyer will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and identifying inconsistencies or weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
  • Defense strategy development: They will develop a tailored defense strategy, which may include challenging the credibility of evidence, disputing the legality of how evidence was obtained, or presenting alternative explanations.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: Your lawyer can negotiate plea bargains or reduced charges when appropriate, aiming to minimize potential penalties.
  • Court representation: They will represent you in all court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and sentencing, advocating on your behalf.
  • Protecting your rights: The lawyer ensures that your constitutional rights are upheld throughout the legal process, including protection against unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or violations of due process.
  • Post-trial assistance: If necessary, they can assist with appeals, sentence modifications, or matters related to sex offender registration.

How Are Sex Crime Lawyers Paid?

Sex crime lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee for the time spent working on your case. Rates can vary widely based on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: A set amount that covers specific services or the entirety of your case, which can provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer fee: An upfront payment from which the lawyer deducts hourly fees and expenses as they work on your case. You may need to replenish the retainer if it is exhausted.
  • Payment plans: Some lawyers offer payment arrangements to make their services more affordable over time.

It's important to discuss payment structures and fees during your initial consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does a Sex Crime Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sex crime lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, the severity of the charges, and the lawyer's experience. General cost estimates are:

  • Hourly rates: Typically range from $200 to $500 or more per hour.
  • Flat fees: For less complex cases, flat fees might range from $5,000 to $25,000.
  • Total costs: Complex cases involving extensive investigation or a trial can cost $25,000 to $100,000 or more.
  • Additional costs: May include expert witness fees, investigative expenses, and court fees.

Always request a detailed fee agreement and discuss potential additional costs to avoid unexpected expenses.
