I was going through a very difficult time with my former employer which was not only affecting myself but family as well. I was looking for variety of places to help and no one wanted to take my case. I stumbled upon Vincent Calderone’s law firm and the moment I spoke to him he took my case. The great thing is he assured me that I had a strong case and that we would win and that’s what happened we won the case. I’m eternally grateful for what him and his team has accomplished. His communication is a 10 and if your complaint is legit you better believe Calderone law firm will do everything in there strength to fight for you. Hopefully I never go through the situation I had before again, but if I do they will be the ones I call for help. It gives me peace knowing that I have a good lawyer with a proven track record. If you’re looking for a lawyer this is the one to come to they can be trusted 100% as long as your legit.

Listen Cortney pulls no punches and honestly should get into politics because she will debate you into your next life if your coming against her client. Having her on my side made me feel lucky cause I would hate being on the receiving end of her questioning. She's professional and scary because again if she's fighting for you, you are gonna start praying those coming against you have tissues for the tears they might cry after she is done with them. The best thing about Cortney is even though she takes no bull and is passionate about defending you, she also makes you feel so protected and thought of. You will NEVER find a lawyer like this who cares about your rights rather than what they would earn. They defend you to the end regardless, and I am so grateful God sent me just the right people to defend me in my sexual harassment case.

I had no idea what I was doing when I was looking for attorney, but what sold me was their slogan, "Women fighting for women." I knew immediately I made the right choice when Cortney and her firm reached out to me only 15 min after I emailed them! They were very caring when listening to my sexual harassment incident at work and were concerned for my wellbeing. I was constantly checked on and asked how I was doing through the course of the case and even offered to help pay for my therapy when I had trouble obtaining a therapist from my own doctors office! She and her firm, fought hard for me and always left the decision up to me. When something like this happens to you, it can be really scary and you dont know what to do. I HIGHLY recommend hiring Cortney and her team. You never feel alone, and you feel taken care of.

Amir was the main attorney on my case at Protection Law Group. I have never had an advocate/attorney representing me before, and I didn't know what to expect. The attorneys at Protection Law Group came highly recommended from my brother who is a lawyer. I annoyed the heck out of Amir as I asked numerous questions and wanted to be assured of things along the way. The dude was always so direct, confidence, invested, and as it turned out in the end, absolutely right about every answer/move/strategy whatever. I didn't like it at the time, but he challenged me to be patient during certain times of the process and again, he was obviously proven correct. Another thing: Amir, Kim, and Heather (in order of time spent with me) prepared me thoroughly for certain parts of the process. This group, and all three aforementioned attorneys, especially Amir are highly recommended. I am confident that Amir will produce a very strong result if you have a case.

Right from the start, Heather made it very clear that there was a case here, I was a victim of sexual harassment, and that she was going to fight for me. I can't thank her and her team enough for taking on my case and helping me. I had no idea what I was doing, but felt very confident with Heather on my team. Her law firm was very respectful and caring, always keeping me updated and asking me about my wellbeing. She fought for me but always left the decisions up to me. If I wanted to keep going we would, if I wanted to settle I could, and in the end my case was resolved and I couldn't have been happier and more relieved. If you're looking for someone to fight for you, I highly recommend Heather and her team! You will be taken care of.

Being Sexually Harassed is humiliating. Being sexually harassed by your employer which you depend on financially makes you feel trapped and explaining these things to someone takes you back in time when you felt trapped and alone. Heather was very patient and took the time to explain things to me step by step on how things would be, She seemed to understand my feelings which made it easier for me to explain things to her. Thanks to her and Cortney this process was as seamless as possible for being in a situation as I was.

After 13 years of my litigation against Cedars Sinai, Green Broillet and Wheeler particularly Christian Nickerson and Mark Quigley were able to achieve an amicable satisfactory settlement and allow me to close this chapter and move fwd and focus on my family and my patients. If any hospital retaliates against you, don't hesitate to call these guys.

I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to everyone here at Greene Broillet & Wheeler. When dealing with a stressful and emotional situation that involves your daughter, you feel completely lost… but the first day they took my daughters case they took us in like part of their family. Everyone there helped us through the whole process and they showed Genuine interest in my daughter’s case. Our attorney Geoff and Christian were absolutely amazing and had so much knowledge that we felt completely safe that they was handling our case. Sofia as well I grew to love so much as she worked so hard for our case as well!! They were always so caring, on top of everything and communicated to us clearly and timely. They fought hard for my daughter and for our family. I will forever be grateful to them ❤️

I strongly recommend Rager Law, as they are professionals, and act that way. Calm, casual, confident. I had the misfortune of needing legal advice from an employment attorney. I reached out to three. Jeff Rager was the first to respond and was very nice. (Mind you, I typically steer very clear of attorneys.) The second firm replied, but after a couple emails they referred me to Rager Law, because of who my employer was. The third never responded to my note. I worked for Kaiser Permanente and had some trouble. I only reached out to get legal advice, after spending a year trying to get some sort of meaningful dialogue. Being pointed to different people, who then referred me to other people. Some people relied on policies that had good intentions, but the policies were not followed. I was exasperated and stressed. I knew how a pinball felt, getting bounced around only to fall into a hole and start over again. As a last resort, I decided to hire an attorney, I hoped someone would listen to my lawyer and I could get back to work. I had a good reputation and loved helping people. I loved my work, my patients, and my co-workers. I knew that I could not lower my stress with overly aggressive and mean representation. I needed integrity and nice people. I wanted to get back to work. I'm so glad to have had Rager Law with me. The kind tone of communication was nice and respectful. When the other side was late getting something to our team, Jeff would alway give them the benefit of a doubt. Jeff and his team remained firm and professional, without bad behavior. When things needed a stronger tone or action, Jeff and his team were right there, and stayed respectful. They were with me for the long haul and were confident in their abilities. They know their law and lean on the right way to do things. I felt safe with a legal team with such integrity and polite ways. There were loads of records, and they went through everything. When it came down to it, we agreed to settle. I wanted to get on with my life. I heard the pro's and con's of my decision, and while we had an extremely strong case, I decided to move on. Going to court would have yielded more money, but it wasn't about that - to me. I felt good about the settlement amount, which was enough to place attention on how not to treat people and to do the right thing, and also catch up my savings. Employers only change behavior if it's expensive to continue the bad behavior. Since I wouldn’t be going back, I hope I helped start some kind of meaningful shift to doing the right thing. Finally, the fee schedule. I appreciated that the fee schedule changed the more the case progressed. At first I thought, "that's a lot," and it was. Other firms were a tad higher. In the end, I feel like Rager Law earned their money. Their support had comfort, confidence, and was an absolute value. Now that everything is done, I feel like I have a distant friend in the legal world. They are really that nice. I can't say enough good about Rager Employment Lawyers. I offer you this, it's best to reach out early and not become exasperated with worry and stress.

What a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Can Do for You

A sexual harassment lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have experienced unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that affects their employment or creates a hostile work environment. These lawyers help victims understand their rights under federal and state laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and guide them through the process of filing complaints, negotiating settlements, or pursuing litigation. They also assist employers in implementing anti-harassment policies, conducting investigations, and defending against claims.

Whether you're an employee facing harassment or an employer seeking to address or prevent harassment claims, a sexual harassment lawyer can provide the legal expertise needed to navigate these sensitive issues.

When Should I Hire a Sexual Harassment Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sexual harassment lawyer in the following situations:

  • For Employees:
    • Experiencing workplace harassment: If you are subjected to unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or behavior that creates a hostile or offensive work environment, a lawyer can help you understand your rights and the steps to take.
    • Retaliation for reporting harassment: If you've reported harassment to your employer and are facing retaliation such as demotion, termination, or other adverse actions, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
    • Failure of employer to address complaints: If your employer does not take appropriate action after you've reported harassment, a lawyer can advise on how to escalate the matter legally.
    • Constructive dismissal: If the harassment is so severe that you feel forced to resign, a lawyer can help you pursue a claim for constructive dismissal.
    • Negotiating settlements: If you're considering a settlement with your employer, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you receive fair compensation.
  • For Employers:
    • Receiving a harassment complaint: If an employee has filed a harassment complaint, a lawyer can guide you through the legal obligations for investigating and addressing the complaint.
    • Implementing anti-harassment policies: A lawyer can help you develop and implement policies and training programs to prevent harassment and protect your organization legally.
    • Defending against claims: If your organization is facing a harassment lawsuit, a lawyer can represent you in court or during settlement negotiations.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you take the appropriate legal steps.

What Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Do?

A sexual harassment lawyer provides various legal services depending on whether they represent the employee or the employer. Their responsibilities often include:

  • For Employees:
    • Legal consultation: Provide advice on your rights and the merits of your case, helping you understand the legal definitions of harassment and applicable laws.
    • Filing complaints: Assist in filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state agencies, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met.
    • Negotiating settlements: Engage in negotiations with the employer to secure compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or punitive damages.
    • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is filed, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
    • Protection against retaliation: Advise on how to handle retaliation from your employer and take legal action if necessary.
  • For Employers:
    • Policy development: Help create comprehensive anti-harassment policies and training programs to prevent harassment in the workplace.
    • Internal investigations: Guide the investigation process when a complaint is made, ensuring it is thorough, impartial, and compliant with legal standards.
    • Legal defense: Represent the company in responding to EEOC complaints or lawsuits, aiming to resolve the matter efficiently and protect the organization's interests.
    • Compliance advice: Keep the company informed about changes in employment laws related to harassment and recommend best practices to maintain compliance.

How Are Sexual Harassment Lawyers Paid?

Sexual harassment lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the nature of the case and representation:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fee: Many lawyers represent employees on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. The fee is usually a percentage of the recovered amount, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
    • Hourly rate: Some lawyers may charge an hourly rate, especially if the case is unlikely to result in monetary compensation but still requires legal assistance.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rate: Lawyers representing employers usually charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on their experience and the case complexity.
    • Retainer: Employers may pay a retainer fee for ongoing legal services, especially if they require regular legal counsel on employment matters.

It's important to discuss fees during the initial consultation to understand the cost structure and any additional expenses.

How Much Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sexual harassment lawyer varies based on several factors:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fees: If working on a contingency basis, you typically won't pay any upfront fees. If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the compensation. For example, if you settle for $50,000 with a 30% contingency fee, the lawyer would receive $15,000.
    • Hourly rates: If charged hourly, fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. Total costs depend on the number of hours worked.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rates: Legal fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. A straightforward case might cost between $5,000 and $20,000, while more complex litigation could exceed $50,000.
    • Retainer fees: Ongoing legal services may require a retainer ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 or more, depending on the anticipated legal work.

Always request a detailed fee agreement to understand all potential costs.

Top Questions to Ask a Sexual Harassment Lawyer

Before hiring a sexual harassment lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with sexual harassment cases?
Ensure the lawyer has a strong background in handling cases similar to yours.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Understand the fee structure, including contingency fees, hourly rates, and any additional costs.
  3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Get an honest assessment to set realistic expectations.
  4. What is the likely timeline for my case?
Ask how long the process might take, from filing a complaint to resolution.
  5. Will my case go to trial?
Discuss the likelihood of settling versus going to court.
  6. How involved will I need to be?
Understand what will be required of you throughout the process.
  7. What outcomes can I expect?
Discuss potential remedies, such as compensation, policy changes, or reinstatement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Sexual Harassment Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer:

  • Verify their license: Check with your state bar association to confirm they are licensed and in good standing.
  • Review their experience: Look for lawyers who specialize in employment law, particularly sexual harassment cases.
  • Read client reviews: Check online reviews and testimonials on platforms like Avvo or Martindale-Hubbell.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Professional memberships: Membership in organizations like the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) can indicate a focus on employment law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting:

  • Detailed account: Prepare a written timeline of incidents, including dates, locations, and individuals involved.
  • Documentation: Bring any relevant documents, such as emails, text messages, voicemails, photographs, or witness statements.
  • Employment records: Provide your employment contract, employee handbook, performance reviews, and any prior complaints filed.
  • Questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  • List of witnesses: Note any colleagues or individuals who may have witnessed the harassment or can support your claims.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide accurate legal advice.
