From the very beginning Matthew Clark made me comfortable with the unfortunate situation I was in and I knew I was in good hands. I have never been through a legal situation before and didn't know what to expect but Matt explained everything to me every step of the way. He was so kind and honest and respectful during a difficult time. He put in a lot of work into my case and paid attention to every detail and often times he would email me back after hours or take phone calls late and that shows that he cared about my peace of mind. The whole team was professional and thorough as well. I would recommend this law firm to everyone because we would not have had the outcome we did if it weren't for them. If you want to be represented by someone that treats you as good as a family member would, then Matthew Clark is who you should hire.

I had the pleasure of working with Attorney Matthew Clark, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From our very first consultation, it was clear that he possessed an exceptional level of expertise and dedication to his clients. Matthew’s professionalism and thorough understanding of the law were evident as he navigated my case with precision and care. He took the time to explain every step of the process, ensuring I felt informed and confident throughout. His ability to break down complex legal jargon into understandable terms was immensely helpful. What truly sets Matt apart is his unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcome. He approached my case with a strategic mindset, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach. His responsiveness and availability were also commendable; I never felt like just another client but rather a priority. In addition to his legal acumen, Matthew’s compassion and genuine concern for my well-being were palpable. He consistently provided not just legal support, but also reassurance and empathy during a stressful time. Thanks to Matt, I felt supported and confident throughout the legal process, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome he achieved for me. If you are in need of a highly skilled, dedicated, and compassionate attorney, look no further than Matthew Clark. He is truly a standout professional in his field.

Any client would and should be honored to have Doug Fierberg representing them. There is no more ethical person -- let alone lawyer -- that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Tireless, fearless, compassionate, well-researched...and funny! Doug checks all the boxes, but he actually and truly cares about the welfare of his clients, long after the filings are done. Doug, Jon, Karen and the rest of the team at the Fierberg National Law Group, do their best to ensure that those who've inflicted loss and harm to their clients are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. In our case, we can never recover from the loss of our child, but those who played active roles in harming him and covering it up, will have to pay a financial price. Everyone should be as lucky as the Braham Family was to be represented by a lawyer like Doug.

We've reached Eric to sort out the issues with our employer. He has helped us to close the case gracefully with discussing with the employer's attorney. He is so humble, honest and worked so hard on our case, making sure it's closed. Thank you so much for resolving our issue so deligently and love your transparent process, I've seen several attorneys who will lure money just for talking, but Eric gives less importance to money and more importance to people and work. Can't thank you enough Eric, I appreciate it.

Brian is everything one would ever hope for in an attorney. He is highly competent, sensitive to clients, easy to talk to, approachable, and yet tenacious on the behalf of his clients. I was involved in a very complex matter, and Brian managed to navigate both me and my other associate through a very difficult time. We were both very pleased with the outcome. Best of all, Brian still found a way to leave both of us with a smile on our faces when the entire matter was settled. That is no small accomplishment in our time. Mark Wilkinson was extremely helpful! I needed a consultation for my situation. I called on a Friday morning, the phone rang, and he answered the phone. I was fully expecting a receptionist or a voicemail, certainly not the attorney himself. I asked him if I could set up a consolation, and he responded with you're having it. Awesome! I asked my questions, he listened, and he gave direct and knowledgeable answers. His experience was very obvious. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire phone call! I highly recommend Mark Wilkinson!

3 years ago today, a stranger made a bad decision and caused a ton of grief and loss in my life....after a couple years and some reflection, I turned to Matt at Conybeare to try to get back a little of what I lost..at least the dollars, for no amount of money can really make up for all the pain I had and time that I lost in the grand scheme of things. From my first interaction to the last, I was treated with nothing but respect, compassion and kindness. Thankfully I was able to recover most of my financial losses and feel that I got a fair settlement and can move on with my life. If I ever need legal help again..(please no!), I would not hesitate to reach out to Matt, Julie, Maddie and Stephanie...(sorry if I missed anyone). Call today!! You'll be glad you did!!!

I had an issue with my son’s school suspending him even though he was being bullied. I called Albeit Weiker and they placed me with a very wise and considerate attorney named Megan and a special education advocate named Danielle. Megan and Danielle provided me a wonderful service and were not money hungry like most attorney services, I was able to pay for my services because they were reasonable by the way, but it was the EXTRA things that were done like meeting with me and providing advice and not charging me extra fees. Speaking to me so that I could understand how to communicate for my son when I met with the school board. Megan also assessed the situation quickly and ultimately helped my son win his case and return to school without any barriers. I am so grateful for them and I pray for the entire companies Blessing for their kindness and generosity. Thankyou again

In June I found myself in a situation that required me to find legal counsel. My husband got physical with me following an argument. I ran to our bedroom and called 911 as he put his hand through our door. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s office showed up after what seemed like an eternity. When they attired, my husband met them outside. To date I cannot comprehend what the the deputies were thinking because I was arrested after calling for help. Apparently my husband’s lies convinced her that I assaulted him and my daughter. He even added that I racked a 9mm and “almost” pointed it at him… I was arrested and in jail for the night. I started to panic and was terrified about potentially losing my job and/or licensing through the state in addition to losing my CPL & 2nd amendment rights. I was initially charged with felony felonious assault and a few other things that I do not recall. I started looking & researching who to hire to sort this mess out. Attorneys need to be convincing. I had talked to a dozen of them & all I heard were the same lines- like a salesman working for commission. A few of them sat ok in my stomach. But that was the problem… they were ok. When there is so much on the line mediocre is not what I was willing to accept. I reached out to a trusted attorney that I had worked with previously on a civil matter from Warner Norcross + Judd. He referred me to Michael Bartish. I began digging into reviews & searching for articles about him. I reached out to SBBL Law. It didn’t take long for Michael to return my call. After speaking with Michael over the phone I knew he was the guy. He was direct yet empathetic. He listened to what was important to me and the fears I had. He was reassuring without over promising any sort of result. He never said any of the lines I’d heard from the previous attorneys who seemed to not be genuine. Over the course of about 2 months Michael walked me through the process, explained everything so that I understood. I could feel he was vested in this fight with me from our first court appearance. His presence and confident demeanor brought me peace at some of the most emotional times I had faced in a long time. Michael included me in every aspect of the case and looked to me to make the decisions on plea deals that were offered. He supported my decision to go to trial. He still never promised a winning result but his confidence gave me the confidence to fight this. I had never watched a jury selection. The jurors likely never were jurors before. Watching Michael educate the jurors while assessing their ability to be impartial for the anticipated trial was nothing short of impressive. He has power in his voice & not the sort that’s disrespectful or arrogant. At hearings Michael made clear arguments backed by law. He crushed every move the prosecution attempted. He has passion and speaks with a dominance you only see with true experience. The prosecution ended up dismissing the case because any headway they attempted was shattered by Michael. This was a huge win for us!!! Michael and I joked that it was a bit disappointing not going to trial. Watching him in the courtroom and knowing his abilities I felt it would be a sure win and that it would put the prosecutor in his place even more. If I ever need a defense attorney he 100% will be my guy without hesitation! I would recommend him to anyone needing help with a case.

I am grateful to have discovered Attorney Julie Gafkay to represent my Civil Rights Case. I learned of Attorney Gafkay while researching other Black healthcare professionals who had experienced what I call, “patient initiated - employer sponsored race bias.” The most prominent case that Julie has represented to date is the Battle vs. Hurley case in which she represented Tonya Battle, a Black nurse whose employer honored a man's request that African-American nurses not be allowed to care for his newborn. The case gained national attention. I googled Attorney Gafkay’s name and read the reviews on her website and contacted her. Soon after I contacted her office I received a phone call from Julie and immediately, I knew she was on my team. Julie had successfully represented several cases that were specific to Black health care workers experiencing patient initiated workplace discrimination. Despite the fact that Julie was reperesenting me across the country I could always trust that Julie had done the work of researching every professional we would encounter in my community including the Judge, local counsel and the arbitrator. I was always informed and knew what to expect next in my proceedings. There was not a moment in which she represented my case that I did not feel prepared. I felt comfortable asking questions. Things all came together when Julie arrived for my mediation proceedings wearing a red jacket. She had put together an effective team which included local counsel to represent me. I knew they had my best interest at heart and they calmed my nerves. Julie was polished and knowledgeable and had researched cases similar to mine and their outcomes. She validated my experience. The end result of my experience is that I felt empowered and vindicated. I absolutely recommend Julie Gafkay to represent your case against patient initiated -employer sponsored race bias. Taking a stand against racism is not easy and when you do so make sure that you have an experienced, knowledgeable and passionate attorney to represent you.

Julie took my case because she felt it was the right thing to do to give me voice. She believed I was treated unjustly, and she is a lawyer who is in the field because she is passionate about justice. Other lawyers told me I didn't have a case, couldn't win, or flat out ignored me. Julie called me right back, met with me, and took my case. Once I had her to represent me, I never worried. I knew without a doubt that I was in compassionate and competent care. She always responded to me immediately, and contacted me if anything was needed of me. We worked together for a year -- and won. I cannot recommend Julie enough. Having her represent me was one of the greatest honors of my life.

What a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Can Do for You

A sexual harassment lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have experienced unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that affects their employment or creates a hostile work environment. These lawyers help victims understand their rights under federal and state laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and guide them through the process of filing complaints, negotiating settlements, or pursuing litigation. They also assist employers in implementing anti-harassment policies, conducting investigations, and defending against claims.

Whether you're an employee facing harassment or an employer seeking to address or prevent harassment claims, a sexual harassment lawyer can provide the legal expertise needed to navigate these sensitive issues.

When Should I Hire a Sexual Harassment Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sexual harassment lawyer in the following situations:

  • For Employees:
    • Experiencing workplace harassment: If you are subjected to unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or behavior that creates a hostile or offensive work environment, a lawyer can help you understand your rights and the steps to take.
    • Retaliation for reporting harassment: If you've reported harassment to your employer and are facing retaliation such as demotion, termination, or other adverse actions, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
    • Failure of employer to address complaints: If your employer does not take appropriate action after you've reported harassment, a lawyer can advise on how to escalate the matter legally.
    • Constructive dismissal: If the harassment is so severe that you feel forced to resign, a lawyer can help you pursue a claim for constructive dismissal.
    • Negotiating settlements: If you're considering a settlement with your employer, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you receive fair compensation.
  • For Employers:
    • Receiving a harassment complaint: If an employee has filed a harassment complaint, a lawyer can guide you through the legal obligations for investigating and addressing the complaint.
    • Implementing anti-harassment policies: A lawyer can help you develop and implement policies and training programs to prevent harassment and protect your organization legally.
    • Defending against claims: If your organization is facing a harassment lawsuit, a lawyer can represent you in court or during settlement negotiations.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you take the appropriate legal steps.

What Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Do?

A sexual harassment lawyer provides various legal services depending on whether they represent the employee or the employer. Their responsibilities often include:

  • For Employees:
    • Legal consultation: Provide advice on your rights and the merits of your case, helping you understand the legal definitions of harassment and applicable laws.
    • Filing complaints: Assist in filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state agencies, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met.
    • Negotiating settlements: Engage in negotiations with the employer to secure compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or punitive damages.
    • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is filed, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
    • Protection against retaliation: Advise on how to handle retaliation from your employer and take legal action if necessary.
  • For Employers:
    • Policy development: Help create comprehensive anti-harassment policies and training programs to prevent harassment in the workplace.
    • Internal investigations: Guide the investigation process when a complaint is made, ensuring it is thorough, impartial, and compliant with legal standards.
    • Legal defense: Represent the company in responding to EEOC complaints or lawsuits, aiming to resolve the matter efficiently and protect the organization's interests.
    • Compliance advice: Keep the company informed about changes in employment laws related to harassment and recommend best practices to maintain compliance.

How Are Sexual Harassment Lawyers Paid?

Sexual harassment lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the nature of the case and representation:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fee: Many lawyers represent employees on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. The fee is usually a percentage of the recovered amount, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
    • Hourly rate: Some lawyers may charge an hourly rate, especially if the case is unlikely to result in monetary compensation but still requires legal assistance.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rate: Lawyers representing employers usually charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on their experience and the case complexity.
    • Retainer: Employers may pay a retainer fee for ongoing legal services, especially if they require regular legal counsel on employment matters.

It's important to discuss fees during the initial consultation to understand the cost structure and any additional expenses.

How Much Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sexual harassment lawyer varies based on several factors:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fees: If working on a contingency basis, you typically won't pay any upfront fees. If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the compensation. For example, if you settle for $50,000 with a 30% contingency fee, the lawyer would receive $15,000.
    • Hourly rates: If charged hourly, fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. Total costs depend on the number of hours worked.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rates: Legal fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. A straightforward case might cost between $5,000 and $20,000, while more complex litigation could exceed $50,000.
    • Retainer fees: Ongoing legal services may require a retainer ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 or more, depending on the anticipated legal work.

Always request a detailed fee agreement to understand all potential costs.
