Dr. Anaise helped with my VA medical claim for obstructive sleep apnea after I found him through hours of online research and comparison. I could tell by the reviews that I was making the best choice for me…and now I absolutely know I did! I contacted him through his online portal and I was contacted the very next business day. The email was detailed with regards to his opinion regarding my case, information that was needed from me, cost for his service, and the timeline. Unfortunately, not sure why, but I hesitated. Big mistake! When I finally sent my information about a month later, there was constant communication. I not only received my IMO when I was told I would receive it, but it very detailed! I’m no medical expert, but after reading through it, I just knew I made the best choice! After I reviewed it, it was then finalized by Dr. Anaise and emailed back to me the very next day. The hard copy was also mailed out two days later! The promptness of Dr. Anaise and Dr. Benham cannot be denied! The only delay in this entire process was when I waited to submit my information to him! I was granted 100% VA disability (less than two months later). The information from Dr. Anaise was clear, service was prompt, and quality was exceptional. I have already started recommending Dr. Anaise to other veterans and wish that I had found him a whole lot sooner!!!

I retained Dr. Anaise to assist me with a VA medical claim for obstructive sleep apnea after doing extensive research on field experts. Communication with his team was timely and efficient. They answered all of my questions fully, and explained everything plainly. Dr. Anaise took the time to carefully review my case before accepting it, then wrote an Independent Medical Opinion based on my military medical records. The work product I received and submitted to the VA contained irrefutable proof, research, and evidence that was overwhelming and clearly laid out. It enabled me to have my claim favorably adjudicated quickly and without additional evidence or documentation being solicited. What an absolute professional and champion for veterans rights, I could never come close to fully explaining how helpful he and his team were. I whole heartedly endorse Dr. Anaise and his team, and hope other veterans are able to use his services for successful outcomes.

I reached out to Dr. Anaise for help with an Expert Medical Opinion, and I'm truly grateful for the outstanding work he performed. Dr. Anaise's dedication to veterans is remarkable, and his attention to detail and knowledge made a real difference in the superb quality of documentation he delivered. What really stood out to me was Dr. Anaise's deep knowledge of VA disabilities and how they affect veterans in the workforce. He used this expertise to develop an expert medical opinion that not only assessed my conditions accurately but also shed light on how they impact my ability to find work. I highly recommend Dr. Anaise to anyone seeking a noteworthy expert medical opinion to support their VA claim. Not only was the quality exceptional but the experience of working with Dr. Anaise and Dr. Benham (his partner/associate) was phenomenal: responsive, thorough, and caring. I can’t thank them enough for the work they performed in support of my claim!

I can't say enough about how wonderful Angela was to work with. I had initially been solicited by a large out of state disability law firm based on an online survey I had taken. I quickly discovered they were doing very little that I could have not done myself and merely listed diagnoses on my original filing, and not the most significant ones - which of course was denied. I thought I was stuck but thankfully a family lawyer in town recommended that I call Angie. Angela talked more with me on my initial phone consult than the firm I had filed with did over the course of almost 2 years. And though I was very limited functionally, I had not sought a great deal of medical care due to limited finances and insurance. Angela took the time to really review my records and ask me questions about how the various issues I had effected my day to day functioning and had me request a letter from my primary physician. She took that and all my records and wrote a wonderful On the Record Request for my hearing. While it was a very stressful time, her responsiveness and knowledge about each step of the process really helped. I ultimately did get a fully favorable decision and back pay for over 2 years and am sure this would not have happened with the big out of state firm I had initially signed with. Personable, professional, knowledgeable, responsive . . . . great disability attorney!

Angela is passionate, you can tell that right out the gate. She also knows what she is doing and gets straight to the point while not rushing the time you have together. She gave me something I haven't had in a long time, both hope and motivation. Struggling with mental and physical health issues have left me broken and lethargic. She gives you the tools and the information you need to get the ball rolling and get the help the government owe veterans who served. Absolutely contact her.

I began working with Megan Miller in November 2020 as a referral from my doctor. Megan is professional, kind, compassionate, honest and has walked me through each step from the very first phone call. She has diligently worked on my complicated medical case and provided updates in a timely manner. Megan's insight, guidance and attention to detail have been invaluable in this journey. The disability system is not easy to navigate and I'm extremely grateful I've had Megan by my side. The entire of process of being forced to leave a career you love and the hardship also of exhausting finances and the uncertainty of the future are daunting to say the least, especially when medical issues and bills continue to increase... so having a trusted attorney who is fighting for you is such an incredible asset. Megan has gone above and beyond in every way (even taking the time to learn more about my condition and sharing info) and anyone would be lucky to have her on their case. She is one of kind!

Moved from another state with about 2 years under our belt for our hearing date and was disappointed to learn our original Attorney didn't handle cases in Tucson, only Phoenix. I was reffered To Meghan Miller and was bit nervous about the change but put my faith in my Lawyers referral. Everything went so smooth I was scared I would be in for a disappointing decision. My hearing date arrived and Meghan arrived early for the pre-hearing meeting, answering any questions and preparing me for what the Judge may ask. I went into my hearing feeling more comfortable but still uneasy. Meghan prepared a comprehensive brief I believe was responsible for the Judges immediate in hearing decision in my favor. My husband was in the waiting room and struck up a conversation with another disability Attorney and was informed by one of her peers that she was "Top Notch". I have to agree completely and would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone who wants a winner! Sincerely, Pam R.

The Social Security process can be very long & arduous! No one would dispute that. Ultimately you want a lawyer who can step up to the plate and fight as hard as possible to WIN your case. Karen Karl is that lawyer & much more! I have heard countless & countless stories of other local & state disability lawyers that do not return phone calls & don't seem like they really have a grip on your personal issues. Karen's personalized attention is off the charts. A truly capable, experienced, friendly, lovely & compassionate woman. I feel extremely blessed to have found Karen & eternally indebted to her for all her hard work!

Everyone knows applying for disability is a heinous and nigh impossible task. After nearly 5 years applying, waiting, getting rejected, re-applying, waiting, getting rejected again and so on, I was finally awarded disability benefits. And it was all thanks to the H&K team. Aubrey was my counsel, and once her and her team got involved, the process still took awhile; that's the government, but they handled everything professionally and courteously. I was informed every step of the way and they compiled my mountain of medical records. They worked on my behalf just as they said they would. They answered every phone call immediately. You can never get a live person anymore at any institution but at H&K there are actual humans answering the phone. And they are super responsive. I have nothing but good things to say about the team. Thanks again everyone at Hallinan & Killpack!

I was referred to Art Gage Law by a friend about three years ago. At the time I was at 10% VA disability and had been there for quite a few years. I felt I had a good case for a higher disability award but the VA application process can be very daunting. The entire process in retaining Art Gage was painless. The entire staff was very professional, knowledgable and courteous and went the extra mile for me. I was eventually awarded a higher disability and without a doubt I am extremely pleased with Art Gage Law’s performance. I highly recommend this law firm if you need representation for your disability claim.

His advice regarding the Social Security issues involved in my case and how best to handle them have proven to be of tremendous value. Time after time, John has provided me with solid and compassionate counsel that has allowed me to have a clear understanding of what lies ahead as we move forward with my case. John came to us highly recommended. We came to him after the first denial and he helped my wife achieve a favorable decision with full back pay through the second appeal and hearing process. He clearly knew his business and was attentive to all of our concerns. John was always very responsive when we had questions and he was open and honest with us. It was obvious that he was liked and respected court officers and the judge at the hearing. Although he took it all seriously, his quirky sense of humor helped to lighten a lengthy and difficult situation. We highly recommend him.

I hired Ann after I was in a car accident. She was so professional, knowledgeable and true advocate. As a working mom I didn't have the time nor the energy to navigate the process with insurance claims, bills, etc. She handled everything and went out of her way to check in, give me updates and inquire how I was physically doing. She advocated to get all my medicals paid by the insurance company of the at fault driver and got me a settlement I feel I would have not received without her. I highly recommend her!

I needed to consult with an attorney on the usual practices regarding Workers Comp. due to having a newer business and finding myself in an unusual circumstance as an employer. Through seeking advice with Ms. Samet I became more acquainted with the technical terms in this area and the procedures. Ms. Samet gave several pointers to help guide me and reviewed several processes of what to expect. She expressed a great deal of enthusiasm and concern towards reviewing my matters and now feel more informed as an employer and have a peace of mind. I am thankful she took the time to address all my questions, gave me her full attention with a sense of care and had a supportive staff that seemed very driven and task oriented (I left my cell at their office and they immediately contacted me). From the time I arrived by being warmly greeted by a little dog that happened to be at the office that helped sooth my anxiety, to the warm, welcoming assistance and point of meeting Dee Dee who was very knowledgeable... My full experience at this law office through my consultation was definitely valuable. I was able to discuss many areas of workers comp that I was not familiar with and found Mrs. Samet to be very resourceful. This attorney used to represent employers in the past, however she now represents employees. This attorney has a vast amount of knowlege and wisdom through her long years of practice and experience.

Very unprofessional!!! by the time I finally got through the lady just kept talking and would not let me explain my situation . she kept going on about different situations by the time I was able to get in two words then she finally stopped and said that my situation was different than what she had been explaining. If she would have given me 2 minutes to explain and if she would have listened to what I was needing help with instead of wanting to talk the whole time maybe she could’ve been more helpful and informative. Overall Not very happy with the service especially when we’re not able to come in . And then having to call consistently and repeatedly because you get hung up on after 15 minutes! It’s very unprofessional and seems like they’re doing that on purpose because no one wants to help the less fortunate Just my opinion I would have given one star, but she did at least give me some information that I was able to work with and was able to figure it out on my own. But that wasn’t the help I was expecting

What a Social Security & Disability Lawyer Can Do for You

A Social Security and Disability lawyer specializes in helping individuals navigate the complex process of applying for and securing Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. These lawyers assist clients in filing applications, gathering necessary medical evidence, appealing denied claims, and representing them in hearings before administrative law judges. A lawyer can help maximize the chances of approval by ensuring that the paperwork is accurate, deadlines are met, and legal standards are addressed.

If you are disabled and unable to work, or if your Social Security Disability claim has been denied, a Social Security and Disability lawyer can guide you through the legal process to obtain the benefits you’re entitled to.

When Should I Hire a Social Security & Disability Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer in the following situations:

  • Applying for SSDI or SSI benefits: The application process for disability benefits can be complex, with strict requirements and documentation. A lawyer can assist in completing the application correctly and submitting the required medical evidence to improve your chances of approval.
  • Denied disability claim: If your initial claim for SSDI or SSI benefits has been denied, a lawyer can help file an appeal and represent you in hearings. Many claims are denied initially, and having legal representation during the appeal process significantly increases the chances of success.
  • Requesting reconsideration: After an initial denial, you have the right to request reconsideration of your claim. A lawyer can help present new medical evidence or correct any errors in your original application.
  • Hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ): If your reconsideration request is denied, you may request a hearing before an ALJ. A lawyer can represent you during the hearing, preparing you to answer questions and presenting a strong case based on your medical and work history.
  • Proving medical conditions: If your disability involves complex medical conditions, a lawyer can help gather expert medical testimony or additional evidence to demonstrate that your condition meets the legal criteria for disability.
  • Overpayments and cessation of benefits: If the Social Security Administration (SSA) claims you were overpaid or attempts to terminate your benefits, a lawyer can assist in challenging the decision and protect your right to continue receiving benefits.
  • SSI for low-income individuals: If you are applying for SSI, which is based on financial need in addition to disability, a lawyer can help ensure that your financial records are correctly submitted to meet SSA’s strict income and asset limits.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help you avoid mistakes that could delay or jeopardize your claim.

What Does a Social Security & Disability Lawyer Do?

A Social Security and Disability lawyer provides a range of services to help individuals navigate the application and appeals process for SSDI or SSI benefits. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing initial applications: A lawyer can help prepare and file your SSDI or SSI application, ensuring that all necessary forms are completed accurately and medical evidence is included.
  • Gathering medical evidence: A lawyer works with your doctors and healthcare providers to collect medical records, treatment histories, and expert opinions to support your disability claim.
  • Filing appeals: If your initial application is denied, a lawyer can file an appeal and guide you through the reconsideration process, ensuring that any additional documentation or evidence is provided.
  • Representing you in hearings: A lawyer will represent you in front of an administrative law judge, helping you prepare for the hearing and arguing your case to demonstrate that your disability prevents you from working.
  • Handling deadlines and paperwork: A lawyer will ensure that all deadlines are met, and that any requests for additional information from the SSA are responded to promptly.
  • Negotiating settlements (for private disability insurance claims): If your disability benefits claim involves private disability insurance (in addition to or instead of SSDI/SSI), a lawyer can help negotiate a fair settlement with the insurance company.
  • Fighting benefit terminations or overpayment claims: If the SSA attempts to terminate your benefits or claims you were overpaid, a lawyer can defend you in administrative proceedings or file for a waiver or reconsideration.

How Are Social Security & Disability Lawyers Paid?

Social Security and Disability lawyers are typically paid on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if your case is successful, either through the approval of your disability benefits or winning an appeal. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The fee is usually 25% of your past-due (backpay) benefits, but no more than $7,200. This fee structure is set by the SSA, and lawyers cannot charge more than this amount for SSDI or SSI cases.
  • No cost for future benefits: Lawyers are not entitled to any portion of your future monthly disability benefits. Their fee is strictly limited to a percentage of your backpay.
  • Additional costs: In some cases, you may need to pay for additional expenses, such as obtaining medical records or expert witness testimony. These costs are usually minimal, but it’s essential to ask your lawyer about any additional expenses upfront.

It’s essential to confirm fee arrangements with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid misunderstandings.

How Much Does a Social Security & Disability Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer is typically structured around the contingency fee system outlined by the SSA. General cost information includes:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer’s fee is capped at 25% of your backpay, with a maximum of $7,200. For example, if you are awarded $10,000 in backpay, the lawyer will receive $2,500 (25%), and you will receive the remaining $7,500.

Overall, there is no financial risk in hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer, as they only get paid if your case is successful.

Top Questions to Ask a Social Security & Disability Lawyer

Before hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with Social Security Disability cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling SSDI and SSI cases similar to yours, particularly if you have a complex medical condition.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Confirm that the lawyer charges a contingency fee and that you won’t owe any fees unless your claim is successful. Ask if there are any additional costs for medical records or other expenses.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and the potential challenges you may face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Disability claims can take time, especially if you’re appealing a denial. Ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what the typical timeline is for cases like yours.
  5. How will you help me prepare for my hearing?
If your case is going to a hearing before an administrative law judge, ask the lawyer how they will help you prepare for testimony and present your medical evidence effectively.
  6. What happens if I’m denied again?
Ask about the next steps if your reconsideration or appeal is denied, including the possibility of further appeals to federal court.

How to Check the Credibility of a Social Security & Disability Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable Social Security and Disability lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for Social Security experience: Review the lawyer’s website or profile to ensure they specialize in Social Security and Disability law and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on Social Security Disability matters.
  • Check for memberships in relevant organizations: Membership in organizations like the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) can indicate that the lawyer is committed to representing disability claimants.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a Social Security and Disability lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Medical records: Bring copies of your medical records, including doctor’s notes, test results, treatment histories, and any disability-related diagnoses.
  • List of medications and treatments: Provide a detailed list of any medications you are taking, treatments you have received, and ongoing medical care related to your disability.
  • Denial letters (if applicable): If your disability claim has been denied, bring a copy of the denial letter from the SSA, along with any documentation related to your appeal.
  • Work history: Provide information about your previous jobs and work history, including details about how your disability has impacted your ability to work.
  • Social Security application (if already filed): If you’ve already submitted an application, bring a copy of the application and any correspondence you’ve had with the SSA.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions you have about the legal process, the lawyer’s fees, and what to expect in terms of timelines and outcomes.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your situation.
