Thank you Michael, from the beginning in 2022 when we called you to the end 2024. From day one you treated us like family to early morning calls and late night ones and on weekends you were always there for us helping and explaining everything every step of the way. We are just everyday people struggling to get by but you and your firm always treated us like we were the only clients. We can’t thank you enough! Amy Clermont

Charlotte is one of a kind, phenomenal and in our eyes the best tax lawyer. She took care of back to back tax preparer audits. She stayed calm and collected during difficult times with the IRS agents. Charlotte gave us the confidence we needed to overcome the obstacles and never let us feel like we were alone. Pressure was a catalyst to her great work. We cannot thank her enough. Thank you for everything Charlotte. Truly appreciate your hard work and dedication. Best wishes always to you and your family. God Bless you all. Sincerely, Jay

Before I contacted Charlotte, I had some trust issues when it came to lawyers due to some shady ones I met to in the past. She puts alot of effort in your case and doesn't just try to squeeze you for every dime she can. In my case, I ended up owing IRS just under $30k in back taxes. But yet, even after paying her fees, she still managed save me quite a bit of money. She is definitely a lawyer I would recommend to anyone.

My brother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, he did not have insurance or a will. I needed legal help quickly but did not have an established relationship in the area as I’m from out of state. I found Joe online and was impressed with his reviews. I emailed Joe 4:30 pm on a Thursday with my brothers situation including the need for urgency, Joe called me within a hour. I was not a wreck but wobbling, Joe’s beside manner was comforting as much as his quick response. Joe was out of town at a conference but he procured the information he needed from me , consulted with our family attorney back home and unbelievably produced a will, living will, Power of Attorney, Healthcare Surrogate and Lady Bird Deed by 3:30 the next day. Joe obviously bent over backwards while at the conference to pull this off for a complete stranger with a small chance of repeat business. I enjoy attorney jokes as much as the next guy, but from now on I will always preface a joke with “I’m not talking about Joe here…” so Joe is my hero and I cannot tell you how much pressure he took off my plate trying to protect my brother and niece in a dire time if need. Ine last testament, I have never written a review in my life , good or bad … maybe that tells the whole story !

Joe was hired to assist my family with probate and trust work after the unexpected death of my brother. It was complicated due to paperwork that had not been updated , a divorce, a special needs trust for my nephews that had been poorly written by a different attorney, questions of dollars owed to the estate etc etc. Joe organized the family members involved, arranged meetings and taught us the law and what to expect. He let us know what was needed from us and very patiently listened to our concerns. All emails were answered in a timely fashion and all work with the courts, banks and other attorneys involved was taken care of professionally and as expediently as possible. The probate process takes time but I always felt connected to where we were in the process. I would highly recommend Mr Percopo for legal work in his area of expertise.

Recently, I called Patricia Carbone, Esq. to request an appointment hoping to discuss my IRS dilemma. To my surprise, I was able to speak to Attorney Carbone directly at that moment and we immediately entered into an initial question and answer dialogue. After a 30 minute conversation, Attorney Carbone explained to me, with great clarity, my position and the options that were available to me in order to resolve my case with the IRS. She explained how she could help me through the collection process including but not limited to the review and filing of documentation with the IRS, application preparation and submission, communications, and negotiations. She further described the efforts and action she would take on my behalf to minimize and where possible, limit my financial exposure to them. After about 30 minutes on the phone call, we ended the conversation and I hung feeling I had found just the right professional to represent and protect my financial and legal interests. To make a long story short, my IRS problem has been resolved.

She was able to provide clear communication about the full scope of the IRS issue, and help me understand the options available to me. She offered solutions which were able to relieve my tax issues quickly and completely.

My father and I worked with Chris Jones in his estate planning needs. We found Chris to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. As importantly, my father was an elderly man and Chris took the time to listen with interest to my father's wishes and explain options in a manner that was easily understood by novices. When my father changed his mind on some of the items, Chris again showed great patience and outstanding communication to ensure that the trust documents were crafted as desired. I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable and outstanding person to help my father and I through a difficult process. My father passed away a short time ago and once again Chris has shown the patience, perseverance, and comprehension of the estate laws to help my family maneuver through the many IRS obstacles. Being out of state I had to deal with this estate via email and phone calls. Chris recommended an outstanding CPA firm who has handled all of the paperwork involved. He did this under his purview which has made a difficult process much easier. All-in-all I could not recommend Chris Jones any more highly than to say he has made a very difficult process much easier to deal with. His personality and knowledge allowed us to make our own decisions while he was there to guide the ship like a good captain. All of the horror stories I have heard about estate attorneys have not been true of Chris. Anyone in need of his professional services will not be disappointed in his services.

A Tribute to an Extraordinary Criminal Lawyer, Vincent Citro Attorney at Law My wife and I would like to personally thank Mr. Vincent Citro for representing our son, saving his life, and our family. When our son was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit, our world came crashing down. The weight of the accusations and the fear of an uncertain future were unbearable. Just when all seemed hopeless, we found the lawyer who would not only save our son’s life but restore our faith in the judicial system. His name is Vince Citro. Mr. Citro, this remarkable criminal attorney, is nothing short of brilliant. From the moment he took on our case, it was clear that we were in the hands of someone extraordinary. His dedication, passion, and unwavering belief in our son's innocence were evident in every action he took. When others saw no way out, he devised a brilliant legal strategy that turned the case around. His meticulous attention to detail, deep understanding of the law, and ability to think several steps ahead were instrumental in dismantling the false accusations against our son. But what truly sets Mr. Citro apart is not just his unparalleled legal expertise, but also his compassion. He treated us with the utmost respect and care, keeping us informed and involved. He was not just our lawyer; he became our champion, our advocate, and our beacon of hope. Thanks to his tireless efforts, our son was fully exonerated, and we have our lives back. It is no exaggeration to say that Mr. Citro saved our son’s life, and for that, we will be eternally grateful. He is, without a doubt, one of the best criminal attorneys in the nation. If you ever find yourself in need of a defender of justice, look no further. This man is not just a lawyer; he is a hero. Bob and Sandy

David Meek is an absolute godsend and I am ever so grateful that I had the opportunity to work with him!! From the moment I got in contact with him, I knew I was in the best of hands. I have such a small business, and this was the first time I ever needed this kind of help, so you could imagine how nervous and worried I was! I am just small fries, but David never made me feel that way, which I appreciated so much. He kept me sane, updated, and was always responsive, polite, and informative. He was fantastic at presenting me my options, and he handled things perfectly!! He KNOWS his stuff, and thanks to him I got an even better result expected. If you have a small business, you would be so lucky to have David on your side and all of the Losey Law team!! Thank you again, 15/10!!!!

I’ve worked with Daniel Worthy for years and glad to finally have the opportunity to brag on the quality of care he gives to my clients. From start to finish I am kept informed every step of the way. The sellers, buyers and the realtors that I bring to the closing have always had positive feedback. This is one of the most important steps in the real estate sales process and I would not entrust it to anyone else. Thank you Daniel and the whole team at The Closing Agent.

Mr. Washington was a great help in a process in which my children would have been exposed to drugs, alcohol, and a rough upbringing with their mother. Mr. Washington was able to help me become the sole provider for both of my children who are now grown up, graduated high school, and are healthy and happy 19 and 20 year olds. With his help of explaining my case properly to the judge, I was able to have full custody of my 2 children in order to raise them to be great citizens. I will always be grateful for Mr. Washington helping me to save my children’s life.

I recently had the opportunity to work with the Washington Trial Group regarding a child support case initiated by my son's mother. I cannot express how grateful I am for their expertise and support throughout the process. From the very beginning, the team was professional, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable about family law. They took the time to listen to my concerns and clearly explained each step of the legal proceedings. Their strategic approach was instrumental in ensuring that the case was resolved in my favor. Thanks to their diligent efforts and guidance, the case is now closed, and I can move forward without the burden of child support obligations that I felt were unwarranted. I highly recommend the Washington Trial Group to anyone facing similar legal challenges. Their commitment to their clients is commendable, and I truly appreciate all they have done for me. Thank you!

Update* first and foremost, I have not had time sharing with my son since I asked Mouse to file contempt. That was 26 days ago. This was the action that Longwell advised against. Then the moment he filed for withdraw, the opposing side figured they don’t have to follow any time sharing. They know he has my $, and they know I can’t hire another lawyer without that $. Second, abusive? How does being disrespectful magically upgrade to abusive? Oh I wrote a review, so you lied. Get over it. Let’s define abuse. Improper use of something. You quit, you’re holding onto TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS, with zero legal ability to charge against it, and you refuse to return it to your former client so he can hire a new lawyer. That’s abusing funds. My pool boy returns the money within a week if he doesn’t provide the service. Third, you did not call me Mr Longwell, which means you could not have left a message. If you did, prove it cause I can prove you didn’t. Why would you lie about something so trivial. I’ve updated to include the most recent billing after they quit. It is an indisputable fact that they have now paid themselves more in one month to quit, than any of the other previous months they claimed they did diligent work. I hired Longwell lawyers early 2021 for a paternity trial. It is August 2024, no parenting plan agreement. No Trial, Carson Mouser is withdrawing claiming I am rude and disrespectful. I never hired him, I had hired a different attorney in their firm and my case was eventually “assessed to benefit” from being appointed Mouser. I had no choice in the matter. He had agreed to go to trial, I paid him $2000 to “prepare” and then Mouser requested $10,000 for trial. Eventually the opposition hired a lawyer and requested an update within 30 days or I was going to default. I sent an email to Mouser asking what I needed at the beginning of the work week. He never responded, at all. I sent him two more emails after the mother refused to exchange at the end of the work week, he didn’t respond. I had to call Mousers office, once he got on the phone I had asked him why he didn’t answer me and he said that I sent my email directly to him. My exact words were, “that’s a problem?” And Mouser said he’s done, he’s withdrawing. So I asked for a return of my money, he said to call the office. I call the office and they tell me they will ONLY RETURN MY MONEY AFTER I SIGN CONSENT and then they have 90 days to return it after the motion is granted. I ask for my file and they said they only turn it over after withdrawing. Let’s be super clear. They were paid since 2021 to go to trial. They have 12k specifically for trial. They have made their intentions clear they will NOT go to trial. But will NOT return money they do not intend to use. They are aware I have to respond to the courts within 24 days or I default. Can you imagine your former lawyer holding onto the only $ you had for trial after they filed for a trial date, $ which they don’t even intend to use? I don’t make a lot of money. They know that though. I have been the sole provider for daycare for the entire year, and barely can pay that. I see Mark Longwell has responded to a previous poor review about Carson Mouser. His argument will be I was rude and disrespectful. Even if your lawyers assumed I was disrespectful, their response is to blow the case for their precious client? Hold onto money I’ve paid for trial after filing for a trial? If anything I said here is untrue, you should sue me. Cause I’ve been left with the choice to either pay for a new lawyer, or pay for VPK. $12,000 being held. 40kish more already wasted. I should have never hired them and fired them the moment they stuck Mr Mouse on the job without my consent. I should have just bought oceanfront property in Colorado. The same exact result would be happening right now. No parenting plan, no trial, money for trial stuck with in a useless spot.

I can’t say enough about this firm. If you’re looking for an attorney that will make the most out of your case and is also compassionate look no further. This firm has the best attorneys in the area. They are always there when you need them and answer calls and e-mails right away. One of the attorneys in particular, Muna Abraham has gone above and beyond to fix something that was handled incorrectly by another firm. She not only fixed the issue in a timely manner, but kept touching base with us to make sure everything is going the way it should. She is extremely knowledgeable and updated in the changing laws and will work hard for you! Not every firm is the same, and if I could give this one a 10 star I would. Thank you so much!!

Mark Longwell is truly one of the best attorneys I've ever had the privilege of working with. His track record speaks for itself—100 out of 100! Wins! Every case feels like he's fighting for his own family, but instead, he's fighting for mine. Longwell Lawyers consistently delivers exceptional service, and I will continue to rely on Mark and his outstanding team whenever I need legal representation. Their reasonable pricing, prompt communication, and deep understanding of the law make them unbeatable. I highly recommend Longwell Lawyers to anyone seeking top-tier legal expertise without having to search through endless reviews—this is the firm you can trust to get the job done right.

Donna Hung absolutely saved my life as a father. There is no attorney in central Florida that can think on their feet, and actually make things happen, the way Donna does. I truthfully believe from the bottom of my heart that she is the best there is, and I would recommend her to anyone that actually wants the best outcome. Any past complaints on pricing, or whatever…. You honestly get what you pay for. Thank you, to Donna and your team. You guys are absolute rockstars.

This firm enjoys harassing local businesses. Mr. Adam Miller has been trying to enforce and invalid subpoena for the past 5 months. TRYING is the important word. His shortcomings with paperwork could mean the difference in your case. Use at your own risk!! I would not use an attorney who cant even force someone to produce the evidence needed to defend you or win your case.

What a Tax Lawyer Can Do for You

A tax lawyer specializes in the complex area of tax law, offering legal advice and representation on matters related to tax compliance, disputes with tax authorities, and tax planning. Tax lawyers help individuals, businesses, and organizations navigate the intricacies of federal, state, and local tax laws. They ensure that clients are compliant with tax regulations, minimize tax liabilities, and represent them in audits, appeals, or disputes with tax authorities such as the IRS.

Whether you need assistance with personal taxes, corporate tax strategy, or resolving an audit, a tax lawyer can protect your rights and help you manage your financial responsibilities.

When Should I Hire a Tax Lawyer?

Hiring a tax lawyer is advisable in several situations where tax issues are complicated, disputes arise, or legal strategies are necessary to manage tax liability. Common reasons to hire a tax lawyer include:

  • Tax audits or disputes with the IRS: If you are facing an audit or have received a notice of deficiency from the IRS, a tax lawyer can represent you and defend your rights during the process.
  • Tax debt relief: If you owe back taxes or face significant tax liabilities, a tax lawyer can help negotiate a payment plan, settlement, or Offer in Compromise with the IRS.
  • Tax planning for businesses or individuals: A tax lawyer can advise on strategies to minimize tax liabilities through legal deductions, credits, and other tax-saving mechanisms.
  • International tax issues: If you have foreign assets or income, a tax lawyer can help you comply with international tax laws, such as the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) or Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FBAR) requirements.
  • Tax fraud or evasion accusations: If you're being investigated or charged with tax fraud or evasion, a tax lawyer can provide a defense and negotiate with the authorities to minimize penalties.
  • Corporate tax law compliance: Businesses, especially large corporations, benefit from the expertise of a tax lawyer who can handle complex issues such as mergers and acquisitions, employee benefits, and international tax planning.
  • Estate and gift tax planning: A tax lawyer can help you minimize estate taxes and ensure your assets are passed on efficiently through trusts, wills, and other tax-efficient structures.

Hiring a tax lawyer early can prevent costly mistakes and ensure you are fully compliant with all applicable tax laws.

What Does a Tax Lawyer Do?

A tax lawyer provides a wide range of services to assist clients with tax compliance, tax planning, and legal disputes. Their key responsibilities include:

  • Tax planning and advisory: Helping individuals and businesses plan their tax strategies to reduce liability, avoid penalties, and maximize deductions and credits.
  • Representing clients in tax disputes: Defending clients in disputes with the IRS or state tax authorities, including audits, appeals, and collections actions.
  • Filing Offers in Compromise: Negotiating settlements with the IRS for clients who owe more than they can afford to pay.
  • Handling tax litigation: Representing clients in tax court or other legal proceedings if a tax dispute escalates beyond the administrative level.
  • Estate and gift tax planning: Advising clients on how to structure their estate to minimize estate and gift taxes, including creating trusts, family partnerships, or charitable giving plans.
  • Assisting with tax fraud investigations: Defending clients accused of tax fraud, evasion, or criminal tax offenses.
  • International tax compliance: Advising clients with offshore assets on U.S. tax compliance and reporting requirements, including FATCA and FBAR.

How Are Tax Lawyers Paid?

Tax lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the complexity of the work involved and the nature of the legal assistance required. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many tax lawyers charge by the hour, especially for complex cases or ongoing legal work such as audit defense, tax litigation, or corporate tax planning. Hourly rates can range from $200 to $600 or more, depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific tasks, such as preparing a legal document, filing an Offer in Compromise, or handling a routine audit, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For businesses or individuals with ongoing tax needs, a lawyer may require a retainer, which is an upfront payment used to secure the lawyer’s services and billed against as work is completed.
  • Contingency fee: In rare cases, particularly when negotiating settlements or resolving tax debts, a lawyer may charge a contingency fee based on the outcome of the case. This means they only get paid if they succeed in reducing your tax liability.

Always ask about the fee structure during the initial consultation to avoid surprises and ensure you understand how the lawyer will charge for their services.

How Much Does a Tax Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a tax lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the specific services required. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Simple tax issues: For straightforward cases such as filing an Offer in Compromise or handling a routine audit, fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500.
  • Complex tax disputes: For more complicated cases, such as defending against tax fraud accusations, handling a significant IRS audit, or resolving international tax issues, costs can range from $10,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the time and effort involved.
  • Hourly rates: Tax lawyers typically charge between $200 and $600 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases involving high-stakes outcomes.
  • Flat fees: For specific services, such as tax planning for an estate or preparing a legal document, a flat fee may range from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the complexity of the task.

Always get a detailed estimate of fees during your consultation so you can plan your budget accordingly.

Top Questions to Ask a Tax Lawyer

Before hiring a tax lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with tax law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases or issues similar to yours, whether it’s IRS disputes, corporate tax planning, or estate taxes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the lawyer’s fee structure - whether it’s hourly, flat fee, or retainer - and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your situation and the possible outcomes, such as tax reductions, settlements, or litigation results.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience with issues similar to yours, such as international tax compliance, criminal tax defense, or complex estate planning.
  5. What is the timeline for my case?
Ask how long it will take to resolve your tax issue or dispute, as some tax matters can take months or years to fully settle.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work. Clarify who will be handling your case day-to-day.

How to Check the Credibility of a Tax Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable tax lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for specific tax law expertise: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in tax law and have handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible tax lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their ability to handle complex tax matters.
  • Look for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation or the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) can indicate that the lawyer stays current with tax law developments.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a tax lawyer, it’s essential to come prepared with all relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Tax returns and records: Bring copies of recent tax returns, especially those related to the issue you're facing.
  • IRS correspondence: If you’ve received notices from the IRS or state tax authorities, bring all relevant documentation.
  • Financial records: Bring records of income, expenses, assets, and any other relevant financial documents that the lawyer may need to understand your tax situation.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions to ask the lawyer about your case, the legal process, and the potential outcomes.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any interactions with the IRS or tax authorities, including audits, notices, or payment demands.

By being well-prepared, you can ensure a productive consultation and help the lawyer assess your situation effectively, providing you with the best legal advice moving forward.
