I have used Michael for two separate issues: former employer and HOA dispute. He did a great job understanding both sides and advising me on the next step. He also had timely communication. Best of all he wouldn't give up. We were able to resolve both issues without court. Big thanks to Michael.

Vic Reynolds helped me get out of a crazy mess I got myself into due to a temporary lack of impulse control in a road rage situation. He is a great attorney and I would recommend him to anyone in trouble. I really believe he did a great job defending me and I was extremely appreciative for the help during such a stressful time. He was able to prove that my accuser was lying to cash in when I produced a witness at a court appearance and the prosecutor backed down. I don't have a criminal record now and I was able to go on with my life after a scary brush with the law. He is very accessible, easy to talk to and keeps hours to meet with clients and discuss their case. I spoke with 6 attorneys before meeting with him and knew he was the one.

Vince exceeded our expectations. Not only did he do a great job at court representation, he also spent extra time which he did not charge, and treated our family with compassion and professionalism. We highly recommend him.

I have known Rob since 1987 when we worked in sales together at AT&T. Rob was a very successful account executive. I think the key to Rob's success was his ability to listen closely, advocate for his clients, and do whatever it took to achieve the desired results. After working at AT&T, Rob paid his own way through law school to become an attorney. We have kept in touch over the years, and I have reached out to him many times for guidance. When I needed a quality attorney, the first person I thought of was Rob Fleming. Rob's firm was retained, and he took the time to research every aspect of our case. This attention to detail, experience, and "street smarts" resulted in a positive outcome. If anyone is looking for not just a fine attorney but a quality person, they should consider Rob Fleming.

Attorney LeeAnne Lynch represented me in a sex offender removal case which was contested by the state. During what was undoubtedly a stressful time for me and my family. An attorney friend recommended Roger Krause - calling him “the smartest man I know.” My family quickly found that he was right. Besides being EXTREMELY clever-I found Mr. Krause (and his staff) to be fair, honest and VERY responsive. This is the office you want on your side in any dispute. They will not forget about you and will work diligently to get things done. My family received immediate attention from Mr. Krause and his staff and more assistance and kindness than we could have ever hoped for. In this field, experience means everything and we were so thankful that they knew their stuff. Our family cannot thank this law firm enough for their good work.

Doug Aholt and team were wonderful to work with. Even in the middle of a pandemic, Doug was able to get to know me and my case in order to lead me to the best possible outcome. He took the time to walk me through the multiple options I had and educate me on the process. I always knew what the next steps were and never felt like I was in the dark. I ended up with better results from my settlement than I thought possible. This was my first time ever needing a lawyer and the whole experience was a pleasant surprise.

Before I met this law firm, I was suspicious of the law field; therefore I was hesitant to go forward with my suit. A lawyer friend highly recommended this firm. The first time I met them I knew my friend had guided me in the right direction. My fear was unfounded and I was extremely pleased with the professionalism I experienced. They were compassionate, thoughtful and learned in their area of law. Their distinguished reputation among their peers was priceless and brought the suit to an acceptable conclusion. I felt they understood and would do all in their power according to the law to help me recover my losses. Above all I trusted them through the whole process. They were straight forward, if I did not understand their recommendations; they stayed with me until I fully understood. My experience from the start to finish of my settlement was of a firm that was patient and caring of my needs.

I highly recommend working with Williams Teusink and cannot convey the gratitude I have for Karen Scott. She navigated a compliance issue with the city whose remedy far exceeded the code that was cited in the complaint. She worked with the code compliance officer to reach an equitable resolution. When work needed to be done that our neighbor didn't agree with she even went to our property to handle it in person. She was very responsible with the use of her time and consequently our money! When it was time to appear in court I walked in to a plea having been reached and approved and in minutes the case was closed without penalty. I would highly recommend Karen for any code issue with the City of Atlanta.

10 stars. Amazing results, far, far exceeded our expectations. Our HOA's tax situation was a mess, a residual left to us from the developer. Twenty-five tax parcels, all with errors; incorrect appraisals, addresses and names. We owed tens of thousands of dollars in back taxes and liens. It was an overwhelmingly complex jumble. Attorney David Metzger and the WT team successfully negotiated with the county and the developer. Our appraisals were corrected and our tax bills were reduced from $31,000 to $31.00. David secured tax refunds that far exceeded our liens. He also negotiated a positive settlement with the developer for our HOA There are plenty of attorney's who can assist with appraisals, that's easy. Few are the firms who understand how to work with the counties and cities property tax departments to resolve complex issues. Williams Teusink is one these select firms. Do not hesitate.

I was extremely pleased with this firm, in particular with the services of my attorney, Karen Scott. Ms. Scott is professional, courteous, and kind. From my initial consultation I had the utmost confidence in her ability to help me navigate the code enforcement citations I received. I was in a stressful situation and knew I would be out of my league trying to handle it on my own. Ms. Scott heard my concerns and worked with me to develop a plan to come into compliance. She stayed in touch with the code enforcement officer and relayed the status of compliance progress. She represented me at my court date and negotiated a terrific settlement. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don't go it alone. Get a consultation with Karen Scott at Williams Teusink. You won't be disappointed.

I hired Attorney Glenn Stern to represent me back in November 2023. He was by far one of the most professional yet personable attorneys I have ever met. I could contact him anytime to ask for advice and he made himself available usually the same day I reached out to him. I hear so many of my peers in my support group stating how long their case is taking and how the communication with their attorney is lacking or nonexistent; this is by far not the case with Mr. Stern! He explained all scenarios and recommended proactive tasks to complete for my case prior to going before the judge. He fought for everything to go in my favor and had my charges dropped down to a lower level which I had discussed with him in the very beginning! I am so thankful to have found such an awesome attorney. I am now two months past my court date and almost through everthing to get my life back to a normal state. If you are looking for a top notch lawyer to represent you, hire Glenn Stern! I will definately hire Glenn again, however, hopefully I will never be in the situation where I need a criminal defense attorney again!

Attorney Glenn Stern offered the best defense. Hired for my husband, he allowed us to understand all possible outcomes and scenarios and which situation would work best for our case. We were in the toughest county to be accused of a crime. He fought for everything to go in my husband’s best interested and it did! We are so thankful to have found a reliable attorney. Now my husband has nothing to worry about and his life is back to normal. Aside from that Attorney Stern exhibited great professionalism. His communication was great and everyone was always on the same page. If anyone is looking for a great lawyer to save you in a tight situation he is your guy. Hopefully I will not need an attorney in the future but if I do I know I will be calling ATTORNEY GLENN STERN!

I contacted Herman Tunsil in June 2024 regarding a civil matter. Despite being out of the country at the time, Herman promptly responded to my inquiry—something other local attorneys failed to do. This level of responsiveness immediately set him apart. Herman’s knowledge and strategic approach were impressive. He thoroughly explained various options, highlighting the pros and cons of each without trying to influence my decision. He was prepared to work hard regardless of the path I chose, showing true dedication to my case. Thanks to Herman’s efforts, my case was dismissed with prejudice, which was the exact outcome I was hoping for. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a competent and committed attorney.

I did a bankruptcy under Herman Tunsil. I'm sorry, but he did a poor job on my case. He seemed to be a nice person, but the service is what I'm reviewing. I started my case with him in Jan 2014. We did not complete my bankruptcy until May 2016. Is that not 2 years! He kept putting off meetings which I can understand sometimes, but for a bankruptcy to not be completed for 2 years is ridiculous. Fast forward and I'm thinking that everything was finalized in August 2015. I did my part with all the paperwork and submitted everything. The debt management course was completed also. I thought nothing else had to be done, but come to find out, his office had never forwarded the course certificate to the court office. I found this out in March because something in the back of my mind told me to check to see why I never got a confirmation from the court office. He responds to my e-mail saying they dropped the ball. At this point, I'm really upset because now this has pushed the discharge back several months and the court tells me we have to pay a late fee. I'm not paying it. So they ended up paying it and it was finalized in May 2016. I told my friend about doing a bankruptcy and the lawyer she got did it in 3 months. Go figure.

What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
