Wow, anyone need divorce attorney? Checkout Richard Sullivan. My spouse and attorney was doing everything possible to delay and obstruct the divorce process. After 3 years and trying couple attorneys, I found Mr Sullivan. He was the only one who got my case moving forward and to the end I noticed that some attorneys are just pushing papers, which is great for an easy-going divorce. However, reaching a settlement it’s always within your control. And I play that no one has to go through what I have. But if you have, or just want to avoid it, give Sullivan Law and associates a call. They continued to negotiate up to the last day, to avoid a trial and settle out of court. But Richard Sullivan is a trial attorney and sometimes you need a trial attorney to avoid a trial. Live well, and be true

It was the first time I needed to seek an attorney and I’m more than pleased I came across Jesse to help me with my workers comp case. It took about a year and several months in my case, but throughout the entire process Jesse and his staff were communicative, friendly, and answered any questions I had along the way which made it feel less stressful overall. All matters were handled patiently and professionally! My expectations were exceeded and I’m satisfied with the outcome. I would 100% recommend The Law Office of Jesse Melendez to help you with your case!

My husband passed from Covid which he contracted at a business Conference. In California, if a spouse passes due to a Worker’s Compensation injury… The surviving spouse receives $250,000 from the board if the spouse makes less than 30,000 a year! I did not meet the income requirement And therefore did not automatically receive the death benefit. Attorney More negotiated a settlement with the insurance company's attorney. Without Attorney More I would’ve received nothing. Attorney More is a very passionate and considerate man who stands up and fights for what is right!

I am a nurse who was injured on the job. My injury caused systemic and permanent damages that are catastrophic and have left me 100% permanently disabled. I am unable to return to the workforce in any capacity or even live my former normal life. Every day (& night) is a struggle for me. I became a nurse to help people and to provide for my family and here I am, not being able to do either, or even help myself. I have never been involved in a worker's compensation claim prior to this injury and I knew nothing about worker's compensation law. After my injury, I did not hire an attorney for some time. As my symptoms worsened, the insurance company began denying vital doctor prescribed treatments. Eventually I retained an attorney who seemed knowledgeable but was not progressing my case adequately. I was referred to Bentley & More LLP. Dane Gilliam, Esq. and Jose Gonzalez, Esq. took over my case. My case is complicated and involves various specialists, treatments, and medical expert opinions. Dane and Jose aggressively handled all of my legal matters including winning at appeals and trial. My questions were always answered promptly and thoroughly. I truly appreciate the timely communication and extra ongoing efforts that Dane took to explain matters to me. It is very important to retain an attorney that is knowledgeable and experienced in worker's compensation, who makes the effort to have open and honest, timely and understandable communication with their client, and who can produce results so that the client can deal with their injuries. Dane and Jose are all of that and more. If you are involved in a workplace injury, don't wait to retain an attorney and choose your attorney wisely. I strongly recommend calling Bentley & More LLP. Dane and Jose, thank you for your representation. You have been a blessing to me and to my family.

They handle every thing from the insurance claim to the back and forth of dealing with them. I never had to worry about pestering phone calls or retelling my case to the insurance a million times. My attorney Dane Gilliam was always there if I needed him and would promptly respond to calls, texts, and emails. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

I experienced a slip and fall at a local store and visited my doctor. He told me to have various bones x-rayed and other parts checked out. I realized then that my medical insurance would pay for certain things but not for many of the other issues involved. I knew I'd need to have help paying for what was not covered so I met with a personal injury lawyer friend and asked him if or what could be done. I was referred to Jaimi Groothuis, who is a lawyer in his firm and our journey began immediately. As it turned out, my original injury refused to heal despite all doctors' best efforts. That injury never did heal, and after a year went by I needed surgery to repair the break. The extremely agonizing pain caused a massive amount of stress. The pain and stress from this injury too its toll on my body. Ulcers formed and my stomach disintegrated to the point where it had to be removed. My simple fall had become a major medical disaster with my surgeon even questioning whether I would survive through two of my surgeries. The entire ordeal unfolded over almost 3 years and during the entire time Jaimi called and helped us in any way she could. Her concern even led her to call my husband while I was in one of my surgeries just to find out how I was doing. During the 3 years of this predicament she collected data and spoke to everyone necessary involved in this case. Jaimi was able to get medical records and doctors' billing records and lists of every medication that was given to me. She was stalwart and thorough in her dealings and that served us well when negotiations finally began. When we first discussed this case I was immediately impressed with Jaimi's integrity as she spoke about legalities and procedures. I have even more respect for her work, her actions and her knowledge after spending 3 years in her care. While she is as nice a human being as I've ever met, she is a knowledgable, capable and a consummate professional that anyone would be proud to have in court.

When Jaimi was brought onto our case it started to finally makes sense to me "the client" as she really helped clarify and walk us through many of the situations. She took time and effort to answer the numerous emails and phone calls with clarifying answers to help ease my mind. I always felt better once Jaimi got back to me. She really walked us through all the steps so we would fully understand what was going on and how the best way to handle thigns were. So glad it is finally all over and very happy to have worked with Jaimi!

Mr. Mehr was really helpful with my father's work injury case. We were having a difficult time getting his company to pay for all the medical expenses from his surgery and doctor's visits. Hiring the Mehr Law Group was the best decision we ever made. They were great in explaining everything very carefully and found the best solution. We were finally compensated. Excellent service overall and I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

I would recommend Giavanna Concetta Deprima to anyone! She is very professional and responsive person, who takes your case in on a personal level. I am a single mom who has never had to seek professional help, and to tell you the truth, I was terrified on the way to my first visit. Once I got to the office, I felt welcome. Not only did that first visit get the ball rolling in my case, but after talking to Giavanna I felt like there was a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. Now instead of going to court alone, scared and afraid I might lose by a technicality, I go in with my head high knowing that I have a friend fighting for me. By the way, she won my case!! Thank You Giavanna

Through no fault of my own I suffered an injury at work and very quickly became overwhelmed by the situation. Having had no prior experience with anything like this I decided to obtain legal help. I was extremely fortunate to find Burns Law Group. I had the pleasure of working with Attorney Brendan Burns and his paralegal, Kenya Lopez. They provided knowledgeable and caring assistance to guide me through the legal process, took the time to clearly explain each step of my case, ensuring that I fully understood it. Their empathetic approach ensured that I felt supported and heard throughout the legal process. Phone calls and emails to Kenya were returned promptly, and, she always made me feel at ease when reaching out with questions or concerns. Attorney Burns offered his professional opinion on the most likely outcome of my situation, giving me peace of mind and confidence in the path forward. With honesty and integrity, he worked diligently to advocate for my best interests. I unequivocally recommend Burns Law Group.

The worst most unprofessional office ever. if only I had read all these negative reviews on William Greens office, i would of never ever hired them. They never communicate, they never call you back, they always end up hanging up on you and never return emails until you threaten to take them to The State Bar. They lie continuously to you. One of the worst employees is Noemi who calls herself the manager. She is absolutely so unprofessional, dishonest and does not give a s... about you or her work environment. i do not see how she can be called a manager when she does NOTHING for this law practice but destroy it. I ended up firing them and am so glad i did. This place is such a nightmare to deal with. I ended up working out my work comp case without them on my own. I must say what a pleasure it was dealing with the defendants insurance attorneys. They were so very professional. They called me when they said they would. They emailed me when they said they would. They answered all my questions in a very professional manner and were just a pleasure to deal with. If anyone has a work comp case, RUN from this law firm.

I had a case with Mr Green for many years. I like him as a person and i trusted him. But after 14 years i became very sceptical of all the things that happened. The biggest problem is communication with most of his clients. The problem i am having now is i left the country, and the covid is keeping me from getting to really push the firm to settle my case. I only talk to a legal assistant, and that is only by email, when he decides to answer my emails. It has been so long that no other attorney wants to handle the case. So i am basically stuck with them. Well, i have one attorney that might help me. Anyway, The legal assistant always has another reason to keep the case going. I am almost convinced that they want to keep it going. At first the legal assistant told me the rating and how much we could get if i just wait longer. I waited and now he is saying the settlement is much much less. I spend a big part of my life going to MRIs, exrays, doctor visits, evaluations, re-evaluations, depositions, etc. Now they still wont settle the case, and they keep me holding on to nothing. I am retired now and drawing social security and pension from my job. But i cant get them to settle the case. I guess i will have to get the other attorney to intervene and help with the case and pay an extra fee for that. Or i will have to complain to the board. I am very very disappointed in that group of people. I dont think anyone knows where the office is. Bill goes out to get clients and then you talk to people in some office somewhere. The mail goes to a post office. I thought Bill was a friend, but now i am wondering about all of them.

What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
