After my dad passed away in April 2024, my mom and I filed for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) through the VA. Despite working with a VA liaison and following up for 10 months, we received no real updates—just that the claim was still pending. Then, my mom received a notice from the VA, which she mistakenly believed was a denial of the DIC claim. Unfortunately, even the local VA liaison misinterpreted it, causing a lot of confusion. Given that my dad’s passing was clearly linked to his disability, we realized we needed legal representation and turned to James Comerford.
From our first conversation, James took the time to listen, understand our situation, and guide us through the process. Initially, we thought we needed to file a rebuttal, but after investigating, he discovered the VA had actually misinformed us—the claim was still being processed. He assured us he would follow up, and shortly after, he called with the great news: the claim had been approved. Not only did he get us answers, but he also knew exactly when my mom would receive her benefits, including back pay.
When I asked James what we owed him, he refused payment—he was simply happy my mom received what she deserved. Even after I insisted, he suggested we make a donation to a charity instead, which we did. His generosity, professionalism, and genuine care for his clients truly set him apart.

Joseph was very helpful with us on getting our security deposit back from our landlord. Gave us all the information we needed and what to expect when it comes to settlements and court cases if needed. He was very helpful in answering our questions we had about certain legal things we didn’t understand properly. He was very kind and he’s Law firm was helpful and very kind from the beginning when filing the settlement. He was very successful on getting our claim settlement settled with the landlords. We ended up recovering x3 more than what our security deposit was. I highly recommend Jospeh for any legal Issues you may have or if anyone you know has legal issues. He is very successful on getting the work accomplished, very kind and very responsive and always keeps you up to date with your legal issue. He gets the job done!

Mr. Geller accepted my case after others declined to take it on. After I explained my situation (what happened) Mr. Geller pretty much did all the driving from that point forward. He kept miscellaneous costs to a minimum and was very flexible with scheduling. We did most of our communications via email and phone, which was very convenient for me. His office is conveniently located downtown and next to a parking garage with ample parking space so when I had to come in, I had no issues with directions or finding parking (rare for downtown). Mr. Geller kept me informed of my case status from the inception and laid out realistic timelines and expectations for the case. What you see is what you get with Jeremy! I highly recommend!!

Attorney Nenye Uche is amazing. I had a dui bench trial at the Daley center in courtroom 403 today. Attorney Uche cross examined the hell out of both CPD Officers. Attorney Uche was phenomenal! I was wrongfully accused of a gun violation even though I had a FOID card to have a gun. Attorney Uche got my charges thrown out. I looked at a lot of his reviews before hiring him, and I must say he really is what his reviews say. Everyone in the courtroom was fond of him and I am pretty sure that went a long way in him getting the charges dropped. Very intelligent attorney.

I was injured on the job and barely could walk and was offered a very low settlement by a company’s insurance rep. I felt it was unreasonable so I looked in the yellow pages under K because my last name began with a K. I saw John P. Kolb’s name and decided I was just going for a consultation. Extremely nervous I was greeted with a very warm welcome and immediately felt that I was important. After one hour with John, I realized I need this lawyer in my corner. John took the time and explained my case in words I could understand. I Never felt rushed. I signed with John and my life changed. During my 2-year case John kept me updated as my case moved forward. Then after everything was said and done John called me and asked would I be happy with a settlement 10 times what I was offered. Bingo, I said yes and the rest is history. After the accident. My husband and I were stresses at the idea of getting legal advice and help for the uphill battle that is liability. My son told us about this law firm and we thought to give them a try.
Not a day goes by that we aren't greatful for their intervention. Everytime we came for our appointment we were treated almost like family. The atmosphere and the lawyers treated us so familiar, and the food they served us was delicious. Personally the therapy sessions the insurance got us from our accident were perfect. I still do the exercises from the appointments at home and they have greatly improved my overall physical health since. From the administration to the lawyers, the entire firm from my experience was so humble and ready to help in answering all of our questions. I had a medical malpractice complaint against a Dr who left me disabled. It was not a complication of the surgery. He damaged an area that he should not have been any where close to. The expert was weak and really didn’t look at all the facts. They lied to me about going to trial. They did not even get the injury correct. When I read the depositions I thought they were working for the physician. I wish I never had hired them. I haven’t been able to work since the injury and we spent a good portion of our savings on Dr bills. They dropped my case after 5 years and it’s been impossible to find a new lawyer. I’m now trying to get a job and no one wants to hire a nurse who’s disabled and has been out of work for seven years. Not only has this physician ruined my entire life but these lawyers didn’t know enough about nerve injuries to take the case. They also printed up a fake trial date on a court document and gave it to me to make me believe we were going to trial. Who does that?
