Strongly recommend Shadi Sheidayi’s office. Having them by my side during the stressful and long process of getting a green card was an immense help, and allowed me to relax knowing my case was handled by professionals. Her office handled every step of the process very smoothly. I will definitely use their services again for my naturalization process.

I contacted Ms Shadi’s office earlier in March to apply for my citizenship. She went above and beyond to prepare me well for my interview and handled my case professionally and promptly. The communication was smooth and the responses from Ms Shadi and her team members were timely. I was blessed to have her handle my case and couldn’t be happier with the service this office provided. Highly recommended!!

Robby Robinson is a very capable, stand-up attorney. He represented me in a long, contentious employee arbitration suit, in which we prevailed. He was thorough, diligent in his research, patient, calm in his demeanor but steadfast in his determination to win the case. His very fair, straightforward and low-key style earned him credibility with the arbitration judge as well as even his adversaries. These cases can be emotional for the claimant, and Robby maintained a positive, confident, professional and calming approach throughout the process. He took the time to make sure that I understood what to expect up front, and explained all the proceedings as we went along. He maintains a lean, but capable team and held up extremely well even when faced with a much larger firm on the other side who always showed up with a few more lawyers than we did. I would not hesitate to recommend Robby Robinson to others seeking representation in employee litigation.

Robby Robinson is a colleague of mine and we have worked on several employment law cases together. Robby is a superb lawyer and is, in my opinion, one of the top employment law trial attorneys in Orange County. Robby has extensive trial experience and is well-respected in the community by both judges and attorneys. He is intelligent, hard-working, and has contributed to the successful outcome on each case we have worked on together. I strongly endorse Robby.

When I contacted Mr. Davis back in 2012 he took the time and set a consultation date with me. After meeting Mr. Davis I knew he was the right Attorney for me, I didn't even realize just how wrong my previous employer was until he described everything in great detail to my understanding. He took my terrible situation and helped give me my rights back. I have referred others to him because of his ethics and how well I was treated by him and his staff and will continue to refer others.

We were lucky to find Deanna Stone and Aaron Morris of Morris and Stone Law Firm! I was being named in an Anti-Slapp case by Senator Catherine Blakespear. Morris and Stone jumped in, wrote the Judge a very well thought out and detailed statement with supporting evidence from previous Supreme Court cases demonstrating that I should not be named in the Anti-SLAPP. In the end the judge agreed with Morris & Stone's statement in its "Entirety". It was obvious the judge was impressed with Morris and Stone's defense. If I ever have any legal issues in the future I will certainly contact Aaron Morris and Deanna Stone. If you're reading this review I recommend you call them as well, they give a great consultation are extremely knowledgeable and fair. I'm very thankful that I found Morris & Stone!

Deanna is very professional and willing to help. I called for a free consultation and was surprised that my question was answered so thoroughly that I was able to proceed without a lawyer. Deanna answered all of my questions and at no time did I feel she was waiting for me to hire her. She was genuinely interested in my problem and spent about 45 minutes talking to me and even told me to call her back if I had any other questions. Her advice was spot on and did not cost me a dime. In the event I do need an attorney in the future, I will definitely call Deanna again.

I hired Morris & Stone to represent me on a Construction Management issue. She was professional & most of all worked with me on payments since I am a self-employed, self-supporting individual. Having her on board has helped to relieve the stress a law suit can cause. She was receptive & available immediately for my stressful phone calls. She has been clear on explaining issues to me and I feel like I have someone on my side.

The employment lawyers at Stevens and McMillan were amazing! I originally found them on Yelp and because of their great reviews decided to call for some legal employee-employer advice on Sexual harassment in the workplace and wrongful termination cases. I didn't expect to speak with one of the lawyers initially but I did on my first call and give them HUGE points right there! Dan listened to my story with and he explained to me how the law would work in regards to my specific situation. He gave me several different scenarios of how it could play out the best possible source of action. The conversation took about 20 minutes, and at no charge I must add. I highly recommend Daniel and his firm Stevens & McMillan Employment Lawyers based on the care I received, the patience and thoughtful observation and constructive feedback. - Jeffery

I had a wrongful termination case and was on a short time table with the severance packet. Mr. Gould was one lawyer I found through my search that wanted to help and was not asking for money before telling me my options. This is a rarity these days! I appreciate the valuable advice, promptness and professionalism Mr. Gould demonstrated and highly recommend his services.

I highly recommend Hogie and Campbell for anyone in need of legal representation for employment cases. After consulting with several law firms, I found that most were dismissive, claiming I didn’t have enough evidence to pursue my case. It was clear to me that they were more interested in easy money than actually helping me. However, when I reached out to Hogie and Campbell, my experience was completely different. From the very beginning, Paul took my case seriously. He promptly scheduled an appointment and took the time to thoroughly review my situation. Unlike the others, Paul was honest, straightforward, and incredibly communicative throughout the entire process. His dedication and professionalism were evident in every interaction, and I always felt that he had my best interests at heart. Thanks to Paul’s hard work and expertise, we were able to achieve a positive outcome. If you’re looking for a lawyer who genuinely cares and will fight for you, look no further than Hogie and Campbell.

What a Wrongful Termination Lawyer Can Do for You

A wrongful termination lawyer specializes in representing employees who have been illegally fired or laid off from their jobs. Wrongful termination occurs when an employer violates federal or state laws, employment agreements, or public policy when dismissing an employee. These lawyers help clients understand their rights, evaluate the legality of their termination, and pursue legal action to recover damages such as lost wages, benefits, and emotional distress.

If you believe you have been wrongfully terminated, a lawyer can guide you through the complex legal process, negotiate with your former employer, and advocate on your behalf to achieve a fair resolution.

When Should I Hire a Wrongful Termination Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a wrongful termination lawyer if you have been fired under circumstances that may violate the law. Common reasons include:

  • Discrimination: If you were terminated based on your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information, this may constitute illegal discrimination under federal laws like Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Retaliation: If you were fired for reporting illegal activities, discrimination, harassment, or for participating in an investigation or lawsuit against your employer, this may be illegal retaliation.
  • Violation of Employment Contract: If you have an employment contract that outlines specific terms for termination and your employer breaches these terms, you may have a claim for wrongful termination.
  • Public Policy Violations: If you were terminated for reasons that violate public policy, such as refusing to engage in illegal activities, taking time off for jury duty, or exercising your legal rights (e.g., taking family medical leave), a lawyer can help.
  • Whistleblower Protection: If you were fired after reporting your employer's illegal activities to a government agency (whistleblowing), you may be protected under specific laws.

Hiring a lawyer promptly is crucial, as there are strict deadlines (statutes of limitations) for filing wrongful termination claims.

What Does a Wrongful Termination Lawyer Do?

A wrongful termination lawyer provides various services to help you pursue a claim against your former employer:

  • Case Evaluation: Assess the facts of your termination to determine if your employer violated any laws or breached your employment contract.
  • Legal Advice: Explain your rights under federal and state laws and advise on the best course of action.
  • Filing Claims: Assist in filing a complaint with appropriate government agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state labor departments, if required before suing.
  • Negotiation: Engage in settlement discussions with your former employer to seek compensation without going to court.
  • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is necessary, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Documentation and Evidence Gathering: Help collect and organize necessary documents, such as employment contracts, company policies, performance reviews, emails, and witness statements.
  • Protecting Against Retaliation: Advise you on how to handle any retaliation or further adverse actions from your former employer.

How Are Wrongful Termination Lawyers Paid?

Wrongful termination lawyers typically charge for their services in one of the following ways:

  • Contingency Fee: Many work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if you win or settle your case. Their fee is a percentage of the compensation you receive, usually ranging from 25% to 40%.
  • Hourly Rate: Some lawyers charge an hourly rate, which can range from $200 to $600 or more, depending on experience and location.
  • Retainer Fee: A retainer is an upfront payment against which the lawyer bills their hourly rate. Once the retainer is exhausted, you may need to replenish it.
  • Flat Fee: For specific services, such as reviewing a severance agreement, a lawyer might charge a flat fee.

It's important to discuss payment arrangements during your initial consultation to understand how fees and expenses will be handled.

How Much Does a Wrongful Termination Lawyer Cost?

The cost varies based on the complexity of your case, the lawyer's experience, and the fee arrangement:

  • Contingency Fees: If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the award. For example, if you settle for $100,000 and the contingency fee is 30%, the lawyer receives $30,000.
  • Hourly Rates: Total costs depend on the number of hours worked. A straightforward case might require 20 hours ($4,000 to $12,000), while complex cases can exceed 100 hours.
  • Additional Expenses: Be aware of other costs such as court filing fees, costs for depositions, expert witness fees, and administrative expenses, which may be billed separately.

Always request a written fee agreement detailing all potential costs.

Top Questions to Ask a Wrongful Termination Lawyer

  2. How do you charge for your services?

  5. What steps will you take to build my case?

Ensure there will be regular updates and open communication.

How to Check the Credibility of a Wrongful Termination Lawyer

  • Verify Their License: Check your state's bar association website to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  • Review Their Experience: Look for lawyers who specialize in employment law and have specific experience with wrongful termination cases.
  • Read Client Reviews: Websites like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google Reviews can provide insights into the lawyer's reputation.
  • Ask for References: Reputable lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients.
  • Professional Memberships: Membership in organizations like the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) indicates a focus on employment law.
  • Disciplinary Record: Ensure the lawyer has no history of disciplinary actions or complaints.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting:

  • Employment Documents: Bring your employment contract, employee handbook, offer letters, termination letter, and any severance agreements.
  • Performance Records: Include performance reviews, commendations, or any disciplinary actions.
  • Correspondence: Provide emails, texts, or memos related to your termination or any incidents leading up to it.
  • Witness Information: List names and contact information of colleagues who can support your claims.
  • Timeline of Events: Prepare a detailed account of events, including dates and descriptions of incidents.
  • Previous Complaints: If you filed complaints with HR or external agencies, bring copies.
  • Questions: Write down any questions you have about your case or the legal process.

Being well-prepared helps the lawyer assess your situation effectively and advise you on the best course of action.
