I hired Andrew years ago to handle my divorce and custody case. He was wonderful. He didn't sugar coat anything for me. I may not have always like what he told me but he was honest and did exactly what he said he would. I have since referred others to him. Still to this day he will take my call and give me advice. Glad I don't need a divorce attorney but if I did he would always be my first choice.

This guy has some serious issues with anger - as well as rules and accuracy in record keeping and accounting. One could try to excuse his unprofessional and quite childish behavior as an allergic reaction to pain medication he's taking as a result of an automobile accident at the end of last year, but that would just be just that: an excuse. Let's be clear, he's playing the role of parenting coordinator - I hired him because I had to not because I wanted to. He's refused to address a clerical issue on an invoice that I had already said I would pay as soon is it was made accurate. The first invoice was issued 21 days prior to the writing of this review and I pointed out the omission the same day. The second invoice was issued today with a thinly veiled threat to send me to collections because "all but [less than $5] are almost 30 days past due". The total invoiced amount is less than $100. I again, pointed out the omission on the invoice, and reiterated that I would pay the entire amount due as soon as the invoice was corrected, to which this guy responded by issuing a demand letter threatening to take the matter to the court if I did not pay the total due within 10 days. I responded by pointing out that refusing to provide an accurate invoice is a violation of the Florida Bar's rules governing parenting coordinators and reiterated that as soon as the omission was addressed I would be able to make a payment. He responded by issuing request for status conference to report noncompliance to the court. Instead of correcting a clerical error which amounted to 29 typed characters (including spaces) this guy has decided to, essentially, throw a temper tantrum and bring the matter before the court. His actions are, at best, unprofessional and completely irrational. His reasoning behind refusing to address a clerical issue and force a matter before the courts defies logic. If you are looking for a level-headed lawyer, this isn't the guy for you. If you are being referred to a parenting coordinator (a person who is supposed to facilitate communication, negotiation, and problem-solving in your domestic relations case) and this guy is on your list cross him off. You're going to spend enough money on lawyers, and putting up with one that behaves like a two year old is simply not worth the expense or hassle.

I couldnt be happier with choosing Mr. Storie as my lawyer. I hired him to represent me in my divorce case and he did a great job. He is very knowledgable on the law. What really impressed, aside from his abilities in court, was the fact that he and his paralegal really do care about you and your case. While he is not the cheapest divorce lawyer in Orlando, he is not the most expensive either. I interviewed several lawyers before hiring Mr. Storie and he was the one lawyer who told me what the law was...not just what I wanted to hear. When we got to go in front of the judge, Mr. Storie was very prepared and it was obvious he was respected by the judge. When my case started, my wife and her attorney were making unreasobable demands. She kept telling me that her lawyer said she would get everything and I was screwed. Mr. Storie told me the law and what I should really expect to happen. You should have seen the look on my wife's face when the judge agreed with Mr. Storie and she didnt get hardly anything she thought she was going to get. I know I made the right choice in picking him out to be my lawyer and would recomend him to anyone.

I have used Mr. Storie three times since 2005 in battleing with my ex-husband over child support and custody. Mr Storie and his paralegal (Montine) are wonderful! They really do care. Mr. Storie did a great job on the initial divorce that when my ex took me back to court (2 times now) he lost both times. I hope I dont have to use Mr. Storie's services again....but I most certainly will if my crazy ex tries to take me back to court!

Mr.McCulloch is a phenomenal attorney to have. He is known for his extensive knowledge as a criminal trial and appeals lawyer. My family is very fortunate to have found Mark after interviewing many lawyers to find the best of the BEST! It was the greatest and most wise decision we could have ever made. He is highly motivated and extremely talented in his line of work. He has been working extensively on my father’s case and we could not be more pleased with an attorney. He has a broad knowledge of many areas of law and will fight for you like you’re his own family. There is no doubt without Mr.McCulloch’s guidance and representation we would not be where we are at today. Our case is still ongoing but we know that the best possible outcome will be achieved with having Mr.McCulloch as our defense attorney. My family and I cannot thank Mark enough for all his hard work and dedication to our case. He will fight for you deligently in and out of the courtroom. Many lawyers promise results, Mr.McCulloch delivers them and will go above and beyond for you.

I asked for Attorney Brooderson to look into my case and give me guidance on steps moving forward and how I shall proceed. His strategy worked great, and afforded me the outcome that I was looking for. The investigation from the board of health was ceased with no hearing needed. His legal memos to the board were articulate, well-thought out and got the job done. I highly recommend Attorney Brooderson.

Working with Sanchez and Brown was an incredible experience. Both attorneys were so quick to help answer questions about my case while being so kind and understanding. Going through a traumatic experience with a car accident was no easy task however attorney Brown was very patient with me and understanding. My case was settled in a timely manner and I am so happy to have a resolution. Thank you to both attorneys, Marisol and Morgan for all of the help throughout this process. I will absolutely recommend this law firm to anyone I know. 🙂

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Altamonte Springs, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
